Caitrin smiled back at Nora and told her, “It’s nice to meet you Nora.” Caitrin then inclined her head towards her -- which Nora noticed was an old-fashioned way of greeting people, but nevertheless she did not mind it for it felt that the nurse was genuine in her sentiments in meeting her. Nora returned the nurses smile before she listened to what Caitrin told her next about her father's condition. “I will not lie to you, his condition has been deteriorating.” Caitrin explained to her softly and honestly which Nora appreciated truly -- for she hated when people sugar-coated things. It wasn't like she was a child and completely naive about her father's condition. She knew that her father was dying.
Finally they reached the room, Caitrin opened the door and gestured for Nora to enter in it before her. Nora nodded thanks before she walked into her father's room. There he was -- laid out on the bed with sheets tucked around him nicely, to keep him warm. Nora walked slowly up to his bed and sat down on the chair at his bedside. Before she grabbed his hand, gripped it firmly -- so he knew that she was there -- and whispered in his ear, "Hello Dad. It's me, Nora." Her father just groaned -- which she hoped meant that he knew that she was there.
Caitrin's voice then interrupted them, “I will do my checks and then be on my way so you can have some privacy.” Caitrin promised hastily and Nora was thankful that the nurse knew that she wanted some privacy with her father. Caitrin then began looking over her father's notes that were at the end of his bed before she offered kindly, “If there is anything you need, water or something to eat just let me know.”
"Thank you. I think we should be alright at the moment. Though maybe you could bring some more water in case my father needs it." Nora stopped as she realised that it was unlikely that her father could manege to drink any fluids by himself due to his condition. So she added, "If he has been able to drink any fluids by himself that is?" Nora asked her nervously and eager for a response -- a positive one. Because while Nora knew he was dying, there was nothing worse then watching her father struggle and being unable to do simple tasks like drinking some water by himself. It's strange that you don't appreciate being able to do those simple, everyday tasks until you have to look after someone who isn't able to do them by themselves.

"Lady Elenora!" Nora heard someone half exclaimed in surprise. Oh my god, Nora thought. She knew that voice. Looking up her suspicions were correct -- it was indeed Sir Aidan. "Please don't apologise, I-I should have been looking where I was going." He stammered out, sounding very apologetic, though she knew that it was her fault not his.
Aidan continued to help her gather the rest of her books together, when he accidentally brushed his hand against hers. For a moment -- thought it felt way longer to Nora -- Aidan stared at her hand and Nora felt a warmth from where he was touching her spread throughout her body. Then she heard him say in a quite flirty, deep voice, "It's not a problem at all." And it made Nora blush even more -- so much so Nora was sure that her cheeks must be the color of tomatoes. Embarrassed, Nora stared at Aidan's face -- then realizing that she was not saying anything she quickly muttered, "Well I'm glad... I hope I did not hurt you when I-I collided with you," God, Nora hoped so because what kind of impression would that make. Other than she was a complete and total klutz that is.
Finally all of the books were collected and Nora stood up. "Thank you, Ai- My Lord for your assistance," Nora smiled shyly at him. Not sure of what to say next. Maybe she could ask him what brought him to the library. Though, of course it was to look at books -- she knew that of course, they were in a library after all. But then she remembered that night at the ball when they had started to make some head way when she had mentioned that she liked to read and he seemed to share that in common. Unfortunately, they were then interrupted by the gentleman her sister kept instancing that she dance with so they were unable to continue they interlude.
"So what brings you here, My Lord?" Nora asked him a little animatedly, excited with the prospect that they might be able to pick things up from before.

“It’s no problem.” Caitrin replied to Nora's request with a soft smile, then she went to go and collect Esmae from the corner of the room. Nora smiled gratefully back at Caitrin, glad that her friend understood that she needed some time alone with her father. “I shall come tomorrow morning if that is alright with you?” Caitrin asked her and Nora nodded her head, "Yes that is alright with me." Nora knew that brews and potions tended to take a while to work and have an effect on the patient, so she knew there was no point in her staying. Though a part of Nora wished her friend could stay for she really felt that her and Caitrin were becoming real close to being more that mere friends and acquaintances -- something much better. But she knew that it would be asking a lot for her to stay, especially considering she had a small family of her own at home waiting for her.
Nora smiled so appreciatively when Caitrin offered for her to send a messenger if her father's condition worsened over night -- grateful that her friend was willing to come in even the middle of the night just to attend to her father.
Then the woman offered to stay and Nora was truly touched by Caitrin's genuine kindness. "No, that is quite alright," Nora watched as Caitrin attended to her child, "I'm sure your husband and son are missing her a great deal." Then Nora stood up, looking down once again at her father to make sure he was alright before walking closer to Caitrin, "I'll walk with you to the door." Nora offered before she went and picked up the basket filled with Caitrin's medical supplies, knowing how difficult is it to carry a basket and small child.

By the look on the nurse's face, Nora could tell that she knew where her father was and she was glad for it, as it had already taken too much time trying to work out where he was. Time she could have spend by his side, instead of getting lost!
The nurse then mentioned that she is in charge of his treatment and that she was going to check on him and Nora felt even more relieved. For the care her father was receiving. Though it was not a surprise seeing as this was one of the best Hospice care facilities in the city.
“Thank you for coming so quickly by the way.” She told Nora gently, then she indicated for the young woman to follow her, before she introduced herself, “My name is Caitrin Aubert by the way, I’m one of the nurses working here.”
"I'm Elenora Young," Nora introduced herself before quickly adding, "Though everyone calls me Nora." She actually preferred her nickname to her real name -- though it was nice -- for some reason she found her nickname suited her personality more. Her father, however, preferred calling her by her full name. He was the only one who did.
As they were walking towards his room -- which was not very far -- Nora found herself asking the nurse, "How is he?" Though she knew of course that her father was terminal and they would not have rung her if it wasn't serious. She could not help it -- it was habit. Because while she knew the seriousness of her father's condition, she also wanted to know that he was receiving the best care to keep him comfortable.

Nora Young rushed to the Hospice as soon as they had rang her. She was in the middle of her tutorial at the university -- which was not far from the hospital luckily -- when her mobile began ringing. She hated missing classes, especially seeing as this was her final year of her teaching degree. But her annoyance was quickly dispensed with as soon as she heard that it was in fact her father's doctor ringing to inform her that she had better come to the hospital urgently.
She knew of course what this meant. That her father was on the very verge of dying. Her father contradicted bowel cancer 5 years ago and after years of Cemo Therapy, operations and other treatments -- they informed her and her father that his battle with cancer was over. He was terminal and there was nothing the doctors could do for him now -- other than to make sure he was comfortable as he spent his last few months on earth.
Looking around aimlessly, Nora tried to work out where they had moved her father. She hated getting lost and now was no exception.
But thank god -- just as she was about to return to the admin desk and ask for directions again, a young looking pregnant nurse came up to her and asked her if she could be of some help.
"Yes." Nora answered, very grateful for the nurse's assistance. "Could you please direct me to Room 10B. My father Anthony Young has just been moved there." She informed the nurse, hoping she knew where her father was.

Nora watched anxiously as Caitrin carefully administered the brew to her father. Of course she knew that it would not cure him, she had known that for a while. She just hoped that it provided him some relief from the pain he was no doubt in. So she prayed to the Gods in the Heavens above that it would ease his suffering while Caitrin gently helped her father drink the brew.
Finally the goblet was empty and Caitrin set it down on the table beside her father's bed, before standing up beside the bed, “It won’t work straight away, but you should notice an improvement soon enough.” Caitrin assured her gently before asking Nora if she would like to be left alone for a while.
"Yes," Nora nodded her head, "if you would be so kind." Nora knew that Caitrin understood that she needed to spend some time alone with her father. But before Caitrin went to pick up her daughter and give them some space, Nora told her gratefully, "Thank you for all you have done for him." Then she remembered to ask Caitrin if she wanted to stay to monitor her father's response to the brew or return back tomorrow for she knew that Caitrin was no doubt missing her son.
"Did you want to stay to monitor my father's condition or do you need to return home?" Nora asked her gently. "I understand if you want to return home to your family. You can come back tomorrow morning if you so wish." Though Nora would like for her friend to stay, she of course understood that Caitrin was now a mother and missed her child after spending quite a number of hours away from him. That was why she offered her the option of leaving, and she would not be offended if Caitrin decided to leave and return in the morning.

Nora could not help but feel comforted when Guinevère took her hands in hers -- giving them a light squeeze -- before she welcomed her to the castle. Nora smiled a little more warmly now -- most likely due to how sensitively the Queen was being towards her, giving her the confidence to show a little happiness. For she did rather like Gwen and wanted to truly spend some time getting to know her. Though, at the moment it was a tough time for her as she is grieving for her father.
"My heart breaks for you and your whole family, and if there is anything I can do to help you, please know I am here." Gwen told her softly and Nora appreciated it greatly, "Thank you, My Lady," and Nora meant it, though lately she had tried to shrug of people's offer of assistance and company. Too sadden and grieved to handle the attention and sympathies. "It truly makes it easier knowing that there are people I can turn to."
Nora knew that she probably should not be saying these types of things to anyone else, let alone the Queen for it was practice to accept these offers of assistance and emotional support, but in reality not to act upon them. For we must depend on ourselves to see through these times. But there was something about the way Gwen greeted Nora and conveyed her sympathies that made Nora feel like she could actually approach her.
"Starting with helping you get settled in your chambers, and something warm to drink, if you feel up to the company. If you wish to be alone, then I understand completely." Gwen asked her politely and kindly.
Nora smiled at her warmly, "That sounds great, My Lady. For I've been traveling for a while and in need of some refreshment and rest. And I would certainly appreciate you company, Your Highness. If you can be spared of course." Nora for some reason felt compelled to ask this for she knew that there were a lot of responsibilities that came with being Queen and she was glad that the Queen wanted to spend time with her.

Six Months Later....
"Aha!" Nora sighed happily as she finally found the book she had spent the last 10 minutes looking for. Though she wondered why it took her so long seeing as Geoffrey of Mammoth was supposedly renowned for his knowledge of where every single book was kept in the library. But maybe it was his age that was affecting his memory, Nora thought idly as she made her way back down the long aisle.
Then she caught a glimpse of a book on the politics and history of the Celtics and well she couldn't help but pick that book up as well. Her family was always teasing her about her reading habits for she always said that she was going to borrow one book. However, hours later she always ended up coming back with ten or so more books than originally intended. She could not help it though. She had a real love for reading and immersing herself into the Author's world -- whether it be a historical book or a novel did not matter to her. And Camelot's Castle had the best books and archives in the Five Kingdoms so of course she was going to take advantage of it while she was visiting.
Finally --after spending far too many minutes then she intended to and gathering far too many books that she was lucky she could just mange holding -- Nora made her way towards the exit. What she did not expect or see was that someone was walking straight towards her. She did not know till it was too late and she banged into him, books flying everywhere!
"Oh God! I'm so sorry!"Nora mumbled out very nervously as she bent down to pick up the books that she dropped. Way too nervous to actually see that it was Aidan d'Amory -- the gentleman that she met six months earlier -- that she had collided with.
Nora felt a hand brush across hers as she went to pick up the last book. "Really. You don't need to..." Nora began to tell the person, then looked up only to realize who it was. Blushing furiously Nora continued babbling very quickly, "..to help me Ai-- I mean My Lord. I'm truly sorry. I was too occupied when I should have been looking where I was going." Nora stopped her rambling, before she stood up and looked up at Aidan who was staring at her quite intensely, no doubt thinking what a complete klutz and silly girl she was.

Nora had a feeling Caitrin was still feeling very burdened just by her response. "I'm positive it will aid in him some way." Nora reassured her again -- well tried to anyway. Though Nora knew that Caitrin was a stubborn woman -- much like herself at times actually -- Nora smiled at her hopefully.
Though, Caitrin looked at a loss at what to say to her about her confession, Nora appreciated her friend's support and understanding. She knew that people found it hard to talk to people when they were about to lose someone they loved dearly.
Caitrin placed little Esmae, who was still sleeping peacefully, down onto the chair, kissed her forehead before she made her way towards Nora and her father's bed. “Do you want to administer the potion? Or should I?” Caitrin asked gently. Nora nodded her head and whispered quietly -- as to not disturb her father though he was most likely too far out of it, "You can do it. I'll hold his hand if that is alright." Nora had no idea why she asked that but she did not want to get in the way. Though even if she was she still would have have stayed where she was.
Thinking that Caitrin must have said yes -- for Nora was more concerned with looking at her father -- she placed her hand over her father's and held on to it with slight pressure. Not too much though. She did not want to hurt him, but she also wanted him to know that she was there. Nora then waited for Caitrin's next step -- which was to administer the brew to her ailing father.

The past several days had been incredibly tough for Nora. Though her friend Caitrin -- who was well versed in Herbilism -- manged to ease her father's suffering, it wasn't long till he succumbed to the fever that had overcome him.
Even though Nora knew it was coming, she still found it hard to cope with losing her father. The last standing member of her family was gone and now she was truly alone. Of course Nora knew that this was not exactly true -- she still had some relatives, friends and people around her and she was grateful for this. Truly. But despite that, she still felt huge pangs in her heart knowing that now her mother, father and beloved sister were together in eternal afterlife, yet here she remained on Earth without them.
Her companion (her childhood governess and nurse) tried to engage her in some conversation as they made they way to the Castle. For it was tradition for a Knight of Camelot to have a memorial in the castle as a way of remembering all of his deeds and achievements whilst serving as a Knight of Camelot. But Nora continued glazing out of the carriage's window, too occupied in watching the scenery in front of her, wishing that her father was still here to enjoy it.
Finally after spending some time on the road travelling 5 miles from her estate, they arrived at the Castle, the carriage halting in the courtyard. Taking a deep breath, Nora accepted the footman's offered hand and began climbing down the step and then she saw the Queen standing before her personally to greet her. Trying to summon a smile, and only managing a small one, Nora made her way towards Guinevère, climbing up one step at a time before she curtsied and greeted the Queen "Your Royal Highness!"

Caitrin grabbed the basket which held her sleeping daughter before she nodded at Nora's suggestion, "Yes, if you take the brew I will follow you up with Esmae, and then we can make sure your father takes it.” Caitrin then smiled again at her friend as she waited for Nora to pick up the brew which she did. Then Nora lead her from the kitchen back upstairs to administer the brew.
Nora could tell that her friend was nervous about it, no doubt afraid since she came up with the brew that it all came down to her. Though, Nora knew that it would be a huge miracle if it did actually cure her father, she knew that the most it will do is help relieve some of his symptoms and for that she was ever grateful to her friend.
Finally they arrived at the door and before Nora turned the door knob so they could enter her father's bed-chambers, she stopped and turned to face her friend. "I just wanted to tell you that no matter if this brew works or not that I'm very grateful that you agreed to try and help my father," she told her friend sincerely -- hoping that what she was saying would ease Caitrin's nervousness. For she did not want her friend to feel so much pressure -- Nora knew the reality of the situation.
"I also know that my father will no doubt pass away." Nora paused as she took a deep breath and willed herself to continue, "But it gives me great comfort that this brew may relieve a lot of his pain and suffering so that he may spend his last moments on this Earth in peace." Nora then turned back towards the door -- as she hoped to hide some of the tears that escaped her eyelids -- before she turned the door knob and gestured for her friend to enter first. But before Nora entered behind her friend, Nora took a deep breath and prayed that the brew would be successful in relieving her father's symptoms before she entered.

Nora felt her face blushing as Aidan held up his goblet and repeated her toast, a small smile finding his way on his face again! She wished that he would smile more often for he certainly looked way more handsome and dashing when smiling. Rather than his usual slightly stand-offish and uncomfortable manner.
Not only that, but she hoped that she was the cause of it. Though Nora had not idea whether it was her and if so, what she had done to cause this side of him to come to the surface. Because honestly when it came to the opposite sex, most of the time she was completely nervous, awkward and had the tendency to speak things that she shouldn't -- which did not end well.
Then she noticed that Aidan eyes began to scan the room and she wondered why. Was it because she was being dull and boring? Was he looking for some other noblewoman who was far more beautiful and interesting than her? Nora could not stop these thoughts, or rather doubts, from rushing into her head and her smile began to falter. Though she tried hard to prevent it.
Eventually Aidan turned his attention back to Elenora and began speaking "So...I see you are a fan of dancing," Aidan took another sip of his goblet -- as if at a loss as to what to say next, "Is there anything else...you...enjoy?"
Nora giggled at his question light-heartily, "Yes, I do rather enjoy dancing. Anything to keep me active and occupied. I enjoy many things; like reading books -- anything from history to politics and the occasional novel. I also enjoy horse riding, though my sister is far better at it than I am. Sewing and embroidery..." For some reason Nora's voice faltered, "That type of thing..." And for a moment she looked into in his eyes intently, wondering how he was responding to her. But she ended up looking for way too long. She could not stop herself; however, she found herself getting lost in looking into the bright blue orbs in his eyes. His beautiful eyes!
She needed to say something, anything to end the prolonged silence -- perhaps she could ask him what he enjoys. Yes she could ask him that! She was about to do so when she heard someone "Umhm" behind her. Turning she saw that it was Sir Richard, the gentleman with whom she had danced with earlier. "My lord?" Nora asked him, slightly a little annoyed with the interruption.
"Lady Elenora, you sister wished me to escort you onto the dance floor once again!" Though Nora did not wish to leave her conversation with Aidan, she had trouble when it came to her sister and denying her anything. So she nodded her head politely towards Sir Richard, before she turned back to look at Aidan, "I'm sorry Sir Aidan. But it seems that what my sister wants she gets." She laughed, for she knew that everyone who knew her sister knew this. "But I hope to..." But before Nora could complete her farewell, she was abruptly stopped as Sir Richard took her arm, "I believe the music is starting, Milday." Before he began escorting her towards the other couples that were already in formation.

“It’s never too late, to the best of my knowledge Aidan is still single, and not promised.” Caitrin informed her friend and Nora smiled a little -- glad that he wasn't promised to anyone else. "That is good," Nora admitted out loud.
Nora watched as Caitrin tucked her daughter in and at first Esmae was hesitant of letting go of Caitrin's dress but she eventually settled down. “If you could grab the brew, I’ll take Esmae with us. If she becomes too restless upstairs I will take her out of the room, I just want to make sure your father gets the brew, that is all.” Caitrin gave her a soft smile, and then Nora noticed Caitrin back-tracking when she said, “Unless you would rather do it in private?” Possibly thinking that she had offended her which was not the case -- was not the case at all and Nora was quick to reassure her friend of that.
"No, that is fine. We can certainly take Esame with us while you administer the potion to my father. I was just thinking about you and Esame and making sure you were both comfortable." Nora hoped that eased Caitrin fears in offending her.
"Shall I grab it now then? And bring it to my father?" Nora offered with a warm smile on her face. For she wanted to make sure that little Esame was settled before they set off to her father's chambers with the potion.

Nora watched with a smile on her face as Caitrin settled her little baby onto her chest, moving slightly back against the chair so she would be comfortable.
“When you get to know him the shyness will disappear, trust me.” Caitrin told her positively. And Nora hoped that she was right -- really after a few years one would think she knew him well, but alas it did not end up that way. "That is true, though I wonder if its too late seeing as its been a several years since we first met." Nora admitted, concerned that maybe he would have found someone else since the last time they saw each other.
“Just be sure of yourself, because if you are meant to be together it will all work out in the end.” Caitrin advised her wisely and Nora smiled a hopeful smile, praying that her friend was right. That maybe once Elenora showed Aidan her interest in getting to know him better that he will reciprocated it. Though she knew that Aidan was not a man to show his feelings in a up-front and open way, she hoped that maybe once he got to know her that he would be the man she saw glimpses of inside him. “Will you invite him round then?” Caitrin asked brightly, with a coy look upon her face that Nora did not miss.
"Maybe," Nora told her friend coyly. She will, maybe. Once she gathered the strength to do so and when things with her father were... Nora could not complete that thought, for the pain of it was too much for her at the moment.
“Yes, the potion should be ready.” Caitrin told her and Nora had a feeling that like she had, forgotten all about the potion for their conversation was going so well. Making Nora felt a tad guilty for that seeing as her father was in so much pain and suffering upstairs. “Should we take it up to him?” Caitrin asked her and Nora nodded her head and then saw how settled Esmae was with her mother.
"What would you like to do with Esmae? Because if you want I could give my father the potion, seeing as little Esmae looks like she is very much settled and content with her mother," Nora offered kindly, knowing that Caitrin too did not like being separated from her daughter as much as her little girl did.
