"It was not a choice I was given to make." Though Sebastian's words were blunt, they were not said with unkindness, for Caitrin had done nothing to earn his distaine. But it was something he was uncomfortable talking about, and in all honesty, he envied this woman her life - he was sure there was more to it than he could see currently, but still. She had a family she could rely on, something he would never know. And something he still longed for, though he was beginning to shoulder such longings aside.
The noble smiled a little gratefully as the redhead dropped the subject, happy she realised his discomfort and was not going to press him further. He smiled softly. "They are indeed lucky, to have a mother who loves them so entirely as you seem to, my lady," he stated quietly, a hint of wistfulness in his voice. As she assured him that she trusted him, the Prince gave a soft chuckle. "I thank you for your trust, but if it is not too rude to you, I will decline nontheless.... I confess the idea of holding a child rather... terrifies me," he admitted quietly, wondering if she would laugh at such a notion.
He smiled and shook his head at her question. "No my lady; I confess I am not the type of man who can sleep easily anyhow; my mind is often too full for such luxury," Sebastian downed the last of the drink, placing the cup on the table. "And I confess that it is nice to have someone to talk to without politics or royalty in the way."

The Alberthian noble gave a slight smile, bowing his head in silent thanks as Caitrin commented regarding her father, and then adding that Sebastian was nothing like him, and that good could sometimes come out of such a situation. "Even so, I would not want to start a family only to deprive them later," he stated quietly. "Family politics is... a messy thing, my lady, and I would not ask anyone to undergo it who did not have to."
At her question, the Prince sighed, taking another sip of the now cold drink he held, pausing. "Only in technicality, but I will not bore you, my lady." He said, hoping he would not offend her, but simply wishing not to burden her with his family's history. "To my family I am simply diplomat, and I am quite happy to stay that way for some time."
Sebastian shrugged, "She seems as content as you, my lady, though that may be her age, for I do not know much of children, and from what i can see, she has your features." He paused as she offered him the chance to hold her daughter, holding up a hand. "Please, no. Do not take my words as an offence, but rather as a fear that I might... drop her," he laughed awkwardly. "Alas, I have not much experience wiht chidren, and I would not forgive myself if I were to harm yours, my lady."

Sebastian almost raised an eyebrow as the blacksmith complimented him on his thoughts for... how had he put it? One. So. Young.. He wanted to snap that he was not so young; he was probably the same age as this man! But the Prince held his tongue, knowing the words were probably nothing more than a badly thought out sentence. He was not about to go and make enemies with the Queen's brother. "I thank you for your opinons, Elyan," he stated quietly. "They mean much from someone who barely knows me, such as yourself,"
"Indeed, mistalk of a Royal is something that happens often," The brunette agreed, folding his arms as he spoke. "My own country has done it, so I am not surprised to hear it elsewhere. It is sad that people are willing to destroy a Kingdom's chance of happiness and peace, though your King is to be commended for his continuous efforts despite the snakes in the grass." He nodded at Elyan's words - the loyalty of one's own people could swerve the tides of fate, for the wills of those very people shaped them, in the end. He frowned though as Elyan smirked, wondering what such a smirk meant, before pushing it aside, storing it in his brain for future reference before responding. "I am not the type to make too hasty decisions before I have met someone," He stated quietly. "Epscially when they might help shape the peace of my own country."
He paused at the question. There were many rumours, but some of them would be confirmed as soon as he met the Pendragon King, and many of them had - wittingly or otherwise - been already confirmed by Elyan. "No, there is nothing else. Thank you for being so forthright with me," he said with a smile. "I am happy to have met you, Elyan."

The Prince chuckled, for he could not help it. For some reason, Yassia's words made sense to him. He had been brought up in a world of confusion, lies and false-truths. And this girl, this wayfairing stranger, was telling him that he should not give into despair. He sighed softly, shrugging. "I have also heard it said that he who waits for time to change the tide is a fool." It was something his family often said; especailly his mother. But then... she was not exactly the sort one would want to believe the word of too easily. "Although I agree with you; a world with fellow souls is to be desired, and is worth the wait... as long as it eventually comes."
He paused at her words, analysing them quietly. It didn't take a genius to realise she was talking most likely of her own past. Hmm. Well, he would not mollycoddle her - he wasn't sure she would appreciate him placating her for the sake of it. But he chose his words with care, patting his horse's neck absentmindedly as the animal grazed at the lush grasses. "I think," he stated quietly. "That we are responsible for certain things, but you misunderstand me if you think I am pompous enough to believe we are in charge of everything. For who can control the weather, the storms, the sun itself, or, indeed, the seas?" He turned to face her. "I think we cast a die that starts events, but we canot control the outcome, the ending." He ducked his head, sighing "Forgive me if I have been too presumtuous, my friend."

The Prince shrugged, sighing softly. "I have done no more than my duties have commanded," he admitted, though this was not strictly true. He was not about to gloat, though, for as far as he could see, there was nothing to gloat about. "But I will agree that I have learned from my... experiences. " For how could one not learn from the cruedness and cruelty of their own family toward the people they supposedly governed? He chuckled softly as she complimented him, nodding his head to her in respect. "I thank you for your words, and I think you are right; I hope to find more who think as I do, though I am not sure how long this will take."
He listened to her thoughts, nodding softly. "I can see how such thoughts would comfort a man, or woman," he agreed quietly. "But I find it better not to believe in such fates, for then you begin to condemn them when things do not go to plan, when indeed it is simply your own doing that things are not the way you wish them to be."

There was something about this man that made the brunette... nervous. It was as though he was trying to create an argument with Sebastian without actually doing so, although of course that might be partially to do with Sebastian's own reluctance of such things like these ridiculous banquets. He sighed softly, shifting from foot to foot, grateful when a nearby servant refilled his cup with water, using the drink to take a moment to consider this conversation.
Sebastian took a slow breath, considering Aiden's thoughts, taking the time to sip his drink as he considered his words. He bit his lip - had he somehow, unintentionally offended Aiden? This man was so difficult to read, and obviously did not want to be here, from his very manners. Not that Sebastian could blame him. Such meetings were always politically challanging, and it was so easy to offend someone accidently. "Forgive me, I should not have spoken of such things," he hesitated, deciding to be honest with the man. "I am not particuarly... good... at such discussion. I prefer frank conversation,"

The Albrethian gave a rueful chuckle as Caitrin spoke of there being time for him to create a family, shaking his head. " I have seen families ruined by men built for battle, my Lady," he stated quietly. "I would place no woman in that situation. Better she be free than to be tied to a man who must consistantly be in battle."
As she asked what he had meant, Sebastian sighed, taking another sip from the drink which was slowly turning tepid, biting his lip. "My father passed away, some time ago." he prayed she would not ask for more details, but if she did, he would not withold it from her. He paused, leaning forward slightly, able to see a twinge of... was that worry?... crossing her features. "Please, do not be concerned," he stated, taking the initiative and praying he was not wrong. "I have not placed you and your family in danger being here. I would not have asked for shelter this night if I were in any danger."
The brunette smiled a little as she spoke of her daughter, nodding. "She seems a lot like you, my Lady," he complimented softly. "She is a very content child, from what I can see...?"

The Prince winced a little at being called 'my lord', but said nothing, making a note of it though, so that if the blacksmith said so again, he would ask him not to. "you speak wisely, Elyan," he complimented softly. "I regret that I was not trained to think in the present, but to always look to the future. It is something that is hard to shake oneself out of, I have to admit," he gave a rueful chuckle, shrugging. "Hopefully, this allience, if it comes to pass, will give my people time to rebuild their lives without threat of invasion or tyranny."
"It is a relief to hear such a thing," he stated softly. "I have to admit, I had heard very little of your King, and what I had heard was not... showing him in the best of lights," The Albrethian shrugged a little. "But then, the person who spoke of him was not to be trusted.. it is one of the reasons I came, if I am honest. It is good to know the people are so loyal to their King. I hope one day to gain such loyalty from my own people." He listened quietly as Elyan spoke of his sister, and nodded, musing the words over in his head before eventually he spoke. "Indeed, it does sound like a beautiful story," he said softly, smiling a little. "And again, I am grateful for you for dispursing rumours and thoughts, for I should not like to go to the King's courts thinking one thing and being misled by those thoughts!"

Curse the Gods for leaving him with a man who looked as though he wanted to shove a spike through the Prince. Sebastian sighed softly, nodding toward Struan. "Of course, please do not delay on my behalf," he promised, awtching the other man leave, forcing back a sigh as he turned to Aidan, resisting the urge to shift from foot to foot, feeling more awkward than he wanted to admit.
As the man... Lord Aidan... spoke, the Albrethian frowned, not liking the obvious disdaine in the man's voice. Nevertheless, he turned to the man, trying to search for an answer that was not snappish or unpolitical or would make him sound rude. "It is not the title that I enjoy," he eventually said, wincing a little at how... arrogant... the words came off. Quickly, he spoke, to amend his words. "Why should a man be penned by his title, when in reality, such things mean so little?"

"I thank you for your words, Elyan," the brunette spoke softly, bowing his head a little in respect to the other man. "I can only hope the people of my kingdom eventually come to see things the way that you have described, and that I can fully restore peace to them." It was going to be an almost impossiblity - his father had been quick tempered, and not exactly the most diplomatic of people... he had made many, many enemies; some of them, Sebastian knew, he would never regain. But that did not mean he could not try. "That is all I wish," he admitted quietly.
The Prince shook his head, denying Elyan's words, raising a hand "Peace, my friend. I think of you no differently now that I know you are the Queen's brother; indeed, the fact that you have been forthright with your identity proves your honesty, a commodity to be encouraged," he smiled softly. "And it is still good to hear that the King has commanded such respect amongst his people, no matter who they are." He hesitated. "I had been afraid he had taken the Queen as a diplomatic gesture only, to appease the people," Sebastian admitted. "But from what you say, this is not so."

The Albrethian Prince nodded as he listened to her explain her beliefs, finding the idea somewhat... enthralling. He could certainly see how it would appeal to people; the idea of a seen entity coursing the fates of their people. "We all derive our beliefs from somewhere," he stated softly. "I suppose none of us can quite say that another is wrong or right; we must simply learn to live by what right we see fit," he shrugged a little. "The belief I hold may be contrary to many others, but I try in all things to uphold it."
Sebastian chuckled softly as the maiden asked if many thought as he did. "Alas, I wish it were so," he confessed softly, careful of what he said; for after all, he had only known her for a matter of moments; not even a day! "But nay; I am one of the few who think the way I do. But I would not change my opinion to fit with the more known crowd,"
The conversation turned to the topic of animals, and at her point, the brunette had to agree. "indeed," he agreed. "I have seen masters flog horse and person alike, and then turn into the crudest of politicians. They seem to forget that all animals, like humans, hold a soul." he shrugged. "Perhaps some men believe that the soul of mankind is patted above those of animal, root or tree."

The Prince raised his glass as she spoke of her luck holding, agreeing with her wholeheartedly. "I share your hopes, my Lady," he agreed softly, before taking another drink. "Where the unknown is concerned, we are all in need of luck."
Sebastian chuckled a little as Caitrin mentioned him becoming a father, and shook his head. "Alas, my destiny is for the battlefield; it was never my family's intention for me to have my own family," A fact he deeply regretted, for he would have once liked to have a wife, children, a home that meant more than belittling someone. But no, that would not happen, for no one would marry someone with the reputation his family had cast about for him. He sighed softly, shrugging. "It is probably just as well; it is unfair for me to wish for such things when uncertainty is all I can promise."
Ah, the inevitable question. Sebastian swallowed, praying to whatever Gods were listening that the woman would not turn him away, or worse, act ridiculously proper, once he told her. He would not refuse her knowledge, however, for she had refused him none. "My father was the King of Albrethia," he stated quietly, watching her eyes to see her reaction. "And please, there is no need to apologise. I do not find your question rude at all."

The Prince smiled softly at Elyan's words, nodding. "Unfortunately I agree; and I fear that my people worry I will follow in my father's footsteps and cause them more suffering. It is not my intention or purpose - indeed, I wish to do everything to avoid such suffering up on them."
He watched the blacksmith's face drop as he spoke... interesting. Was something being held from him? Alas, his suspicions were confirmed when Elyan confessed to being brother to the Queen, and Sebastian nearly cursed aloud at the way he had unintentionally possibly insulted the man. "I meant no insult," he began softly. "And your opinion would matter to me whether or not you were in line with the Royals; I merely tend to find that the people are more likely to speak ill of their King rather than another, which was why I was... relieved to hear such a positive opinion from yourself."

The unknown man's obvious reluctance to converse made Sebastian sympathise with the noble - he wanted to be at this dinner as little as this man apparently did, and thus when the man was eventually named to him by his brother, the Prince gave him a slight smile, and nodded softly, giving a slight bow in return. "Please, I would be honoured if you were to call me Sebastian," he stated softly, though he knew it was not terribly politically correct.
As the other man - Aiden - stated he was honoured to meet him, and then glanced at Straun, with a look that Sebastian could not quite understand, the noble surpressed a slight smile. "The honour is mine," he stated softly.

The young Prince viewed Caitrin curiously, as she spoke of naivity. Personally, he had to admit he found it almost... endearing. And somewhat reassuring; that someone had not expierienced the horrors that travel could bring with it. Still, he was certainly not going to insult her by saying such things, so instead he simply shook his head. "There is nothing to forgive, my lady," he promised softly."I am glad to hear that you have had a good experience with travel."
He sighed softly as she spoke of parenting, feeling a little out of his depth, though he did not say as much. "I have not yet had the privalage of being a father," stated Sebastian. "But I believe, from what those around me have said, that you are right - one is always learning. If I may be so bold, though, I would dare to say that from what I can see, you barely need lessons in being a 'good' mother, for from the way that your daughter interacts with you, you have already excelled."
As the lady spoke sharply of his father, the noble hesitated, not liking the sudden change in her voice, wondering where it had come from. He bit his lip, taking a sip of the warm drink to give himself a moment, before eventually answering after he had swallowed. "If you are referring to my father, than yes," he stated quietly. "And sadly, his interests were not vested in the people. They were... made to suffer unnecessarily; and now that he no longer taints the world, I wish to try and restore some peace to them."

The young Prince felt a little guilty as he saw the lady holding her daughter closer, realising he had frightened her with his words. "I am sorry if I have startled you with my words," he stated quietly, looking to the ground slightly, before raising his eyes to meet hers once more.
As she spoke of desiring to be a better mother than her own, Sebastian smiled a little. "From what I can see, my lady, you are already giving your children the home I am sure all children would love to have," he assured her softly. "Even as little as I know you, I can see how clearly you love your children from your tone of voice." Perhaps he was wrongfooting himself, speaking so openly, but it was true. IF only his own parents had spoken of him so... but all that was only a dream. The Prince cast the thought aside, taking another sip of the warm drink. "And you are not burdening me, my lady," he assured softly.
"The weather has gone through all seasons on my journey here, but I admit I have not yet encountered such cold winds," he admitted softly. As she apologisied for her dress, the Prince shook his head. "Please, no apologies. The fault is my own for disturbing you at such a time; and I apologise for doing so."
He sighed softly, nodding. "I truly hope so," he admitted softly. As she asked after his kingdom, the brunette gave a soft smile. "It is... slowly recovering. My father was... well, let us say he was not a diplomatic ruler. All he cared for were glory and blood. He would murder just for the so-called pleasure of it," the Prince shook his head. "His death has been a deliverance to the people. I am trying to earn their respect, and to gain allegance from other countries is a step toward that respect."

The feast was not the first instance Sebastian would have chosen for his introduction to Camelot, but he had not resisisted, knowing it might be considered as rude to the King and his Queen. Besides, such a feast would often reveal that by watching and learning one could learn much from people. Nobles and Kings and Princes alike.
The Prince stood by the nearest door, just in case, a goblet of warm cider in his hand as he stared about at the mingle of people. As of yet they had not been seated, and he only prayed that he would not end up sitting next to someone who hated his kingdom, or his father. As he saw two men nearing, the Albrethian turned a little, holding back a sigh, praying for at least civil conversation. However, as he recogised one of the men, he managed a small smile, grateful for early introductions.
Note: It's fine!! I love the way your characters are so reluctant!

The Prince sighed softly as Caitrin stated that the journey must be lonely, and managed a soft smile. "I have learned in my time that lonliness is better than the fear of death," he said quietly. "One cannot always trust those that one rides with, my Lady."
He chuckled softly. "I would have loved to have had siblings, but alas I would not have implimented upon them the shame of having my parents as those they call mother and father," he admitted. "It is the only reason I am grateful for being an only child, I-" he paused, realising he was saying too much, shaking his head. "Forgive me, I am burdening you with truths that are not yours to bear."
Sebastian nodded gratefully. "I would welcome your company, Lady Caitrin," he assured softly. "Although I warn you that the weather out there is quite chilled." As she asked him what brought him to Camelot, the Prince studied her for a moment, before risking the truth. "I seek an audience with the King," he stated quietly, wondering how she would respond. "In regards to... my Kingdom's wellbeing." There. He had told her. Now he only prayed she would not either attempt to follay her with lies and irritating falsities, or throw him from her house.

The Albrethian found himself more and more wishing that Camelot were not calling to him, that he could spend longer in this young lady's company. In his father's reign he had had very little chance to converse with people, and Yassia was one of those whom his father would have frowned upon. Added of course to the fact that his father had believed Sebastian was a mute, and therefore he would have been humiliated in front of the woman even before he got to exchange a greeting. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Remei," he stated softly, inclinign his head briefly in respect to her.
As the girl spoke of surprise, Sebastian found himself more and more curious as to her origins. The young lady claimed she was merely a wanderer, and yet... there was an air about her. Something that... whispered to him that she was not all that she seemed. The young Prince tried to push away the irrational warning that all here was not right; she had been nothing but curtious and friendly toward him, if she were hiding something... well, he was a mere stranger; what business of it was his? "I agree," he said softly. "My opinion drives from seeing how people can be treated by the worst of tyrants," he spoke of his father, but would not elaborate upon that too far. "It is us humans who have given ourselves titles and graces, not any unseeing power," he shrugged. "Although I know that not all people see it that way."
They turned back to the conversation of his horse, and the brunette nodded. "Aye, he's the best I've ever had the pleasure to ride," he admitted honestly. As Yassia reached out to touch him, Sebastian watched, curious as to how his horse would react. If it had been his father, the horse would have reared and kicked out, the same with anyone who meant Sebastian harm. But the horse merely gave a soft snicker, shook his head twice, and turned his neck nearer to Yassia's hand, as though to welcome the touch. The Prince gave a small smile, nodding with the girl. "I have seen broken horses," he agreed. "I could never bear to resign an animal to that fate."

The Albrethian smiled in gratitude as the lady promised to take care of his horse, nodding softly. "Thankyou, your kindness is much appreciated," he assured softly. He chuckled softly at the woman's amazement, nodding softly. "The roads from my country are not exactly safe," he explained quietly. "To leave with others would only endanger them. I would not allow for that to happen. If I were to be attacked, then better it be just my life that is taken, rather than others."
He nodded softly as she spoke of her daughter, smiling a little. "I have heard it said that twins are either as like as peas or as different as the direction of the wind," he agreed softly. "Sadly I have no sibling with which to test this theory, but for your sake I am glad it is so at least with your children."
The Prince smiled softly at the servant as the drink was passed to him. "thankyou," he murmured, taking a sip of the warm liquid, smiling in appreciation. He turned to Caitrin as she spoke of Camelot, hesitating a little. "I would not wish to take you from your family if they are in need of you," he stated softly. "Though admittedly the company and guide would be much appreciated."
