Cole smiled as they walked towards Camelot."My name is Cole." he stated sticking out his hand for the boy to shake. "Now then ,Tam was it? Why were you hiding in the bend?" He was truly curious if Tam was really that unobservant to not notice that there were many blind areas to where he was hiding or if he had just stopped to rest there.
Now Cole wasnt malicious. No, more often then not he was called to kind-hearted to be a knight but when it came down to the important things he was one to be more serious and if not more deadly than he was normally. He ignored the fact that his own stomach was growling. He had decided to forgo food in order to track down the thief. "How had your stay in Camelot been? Met any new people?" He was honestly just making small talk. It wasnt because the boy was lower than him or anything he just didnt know what to say for the first time in his life. Well wont that just shock everyone back at the castle. he thought sarcastically. The great Cole Barrera has finally run out of things to say.

"Well I guess she does," Cole shrugged. "But from what i remember she was adopted into the family since Mrs. Astras couldnt bear any children." He chuckled, not many got the chance to be a noble by adoption. It was mostly unheard of but it did happen on occasion. Who knows about the girl. He looked at the smirking Arthur. He wondered if Arthur would see that when he was king he could marry any woman he wanted...Including the woman he was pining after. It honestly wasnt hard to see what was going on but Cole kept his mouth closed something others didnt think to be possible with hoe much he actually talked.
Deciding that this was too much talking Cole moved forward and tackled his friend to the ground forgetting his sword on the ground in favor of holding Arthur in a head lock just loose enough to not cut off his air supply. "Now my friend why dont we talk about more important things like how you are going to arrange an entire festival and not botch things up?" Cole teased Arthur in many ways this was one of them. They had tried to throw a birthday party for someone, Cole couldnt quite remember who, and well they ended up setting the kitchen on fire with a rag. They were boys how were they supposed to know that you dont put a cloth next to a hearth? It wasnt like they told them not to before.

Cole laughed at what Arthur said. Yes it was odd that the old man had denied Arthur training since no one denied the prince anything. "Ha-ha if we did try he would more than likely beat us." Cole stated but grew quiet and somber. He looked up at the sky, it was cloudy again, not that it was that uncommon in Camelot. "Arthur the reason that I brought him up is because he took a student and passed away shortly after their training was done. And shortly after his death his wife passed on in a rogue raid." He looked Arthur in the eye. "That student took on his name;" Cole a small smirk slid easily onto his face like it was meant to be there.
"You'll just love this." He began again after pausing. "That student is the woman I fell in love with." Cole kept the smirk on his face and couldnt help but mentally laugh. It always seemed like everything had to have an ironic side to it. He wondered if she would ever travel to camelot. After thinking about her for several moments he decided that he was going to just tackle his friend and partake in some friendly wrestling. It was something that they used to when they were growing up.

Cole gave a hearty laugh. Now this was the friend he remembered, at this moment he wasnt the prince he was just Arthur. "Now sire its not that hard to beat you." He stated. "You're just very lucky." Cole knew that his friend could wipe the floor with him if he truly wanted to but it was nice to goad him into things. At least this time its not overly dangerous as to where last time (obviously when they were younger) he did so they landed themselves into a heap of trouble. Thus both of their fathers punishing them.
"Hmmm, I doubt that finding her would be easier. Do you remember that old retired knight Lord Astras?" Cole asked as he tapped his sword against Arthur's several times, a silent sign he wanted to do a little sparring. "He's the one who used to chase us with his sword when ever we passed by his home and his wife would ask us what we were up to that time?" Cole smiled they were fond memories. They had only met the lord a few times and Cole, at the time, didnt recognize the old man who was training the girl of his dreams. The knight used to live there in Camelot but moved on after his retirement. There was only so much an old man could do other than train others. But besides the girl he never passed on his knowledge to others, something about they shouldnt have it easy because of their born into station they had to learn it on their own the hard way just like he did. knowledge was not free it always had a price. Cole was hoping that he had at least remembered who he was talking about. Otherwise this would be hard to explain. "You know the man who always refused to teach us saying that we hadnt earned the right and that he would never pass on his knowledge until it was the right time and/or person?" Cole went on to further state his question.

Cole raised a brow at the knight-in-training. He seemed to have an attraction to Gwen. Not that he could really blame him. She was a beautiful woman (not his type) but beautiful none the less. But Cole just shrugged it off, it was not uncommon despite what Gwen would say. She was still quite beautiful. Looking at the knight it still showed that he still doubted his skills.
"Yes I am quite sure that he can see what skills you do have." Cole said with a small laugh, and watched as the man rubbed his jaw. "But you must understand that he has been trained since birth to fight. Some of us dont start till later. Even I started a few years after Arthur and I'm older than him." Cole laughed roughly. Yes he remembered when he had been beaten by the younger male.
He had been training for several years but when Arthur a little pipsqueak at the time had challenged him he had been doubtful but he shrugged and accepted. They faught for hours and it was Arthur who knocked him to the ground and pinned him with a sword pointed at his throat. That had went on for several years both besting eachother on occasion. It was rather fun but Cole knew that Arthur would always be a better fighter but they were equals as knights. "Anyway Lancelot he does know you have talent he just wants to refine it a bit more than it already is. We all went through it...Call it an initiation of sorts."
Cole relaxed his stance and moved to cross his arms comfortably. "They would make a pair wouldnt they?" Cole asked before stating his next statment. "But they arent. More like close friends; dont take my word on it on no means its just an observation." Now Cole could be scatter brained at times and this was one of them. "How did you help Merlin in the forest?" Cole was genuinly curious as he remembered Merlin was out there getting mushrooms or something to that effect.
Lancelot had asked him if he had a question and Cole's smile dimmed a bit as his eyes gained a slight seriousness. "Yes I do actually, I thought that Lord Eldred only had four sons. Were you just recently recognized?" He let the question kind of trail off showing that he had some sort of suspicion. But before he could trule let the man answer he sort of changed the subject. "What do you think of allowing some common folk to fight? I know I've seen my fair share of fighters on my travels. Some of the best I've met weren't the nobles that usually make up the knights." Cole looked at the man and asked what he thought about it.

Cole's smile broadened and shook Lancelot's hand. He heard the little stutter and wondered what that was all about. It was like he didnt know who he was. "A pleasure to meet you Lancelot. Dont worry about the sire. He can see the potential that you have, he just wants to bring all of it to the fore front." Cole stated casually before glancing over at the waiting 'servants' they were an odd pair and while the whole thing seemed fishy he hoped that hid gut feeling wasnt right. "I see you've met our darling Gwen and Merlin. Quite the odd pair of friends dont you say?" He stated.
Cole was still curious about the man. He didnt seem like a noble man's son and he was sure that Lord Eldred of Northumbria didnt have a fifth son. But he kept that to himself, he could be an illegitamit child that only recently was accepted. Cole didnt really care. Camelot needed knights and from the way this man acted he would do well as one. He honestly saw some very good fighters on his travels and most of them were of the common folk. He understood why the king had it to where only nobles and the like could be knights of camelot but it was hard to come by men who portrayed the very essence of being a knight and didnt just want to join for the title alone. Cole waslucky that his father had been a knight of the king other wise he would not have had the chance to even participate in the final challenge himself. And he did think that their prince would do well to change the rules when he was king. But that was many years to come. Cole could only hope for that day.

Cole gratefully took the necklace and looked mree closely at it and sighed. It was the necklace that had been taken. He looked at the boy with a raised brow. "This is the necklace that was taken." He decided to humor the boy. "If you did indeed buy this necklace then how about I treat you to a meal back in Camelot; one so that I amy return this necklace to the rightful owner and so that I will be able to reimberse you if what you say is the truth" Cole stated holding the necklace in his hand. He had meant what he said about letting the thief off with a warning. If the other knights had caught him and hadnt talked the woman out of her thoughts for retribution then they wouldnt be so kind they would cut off his hand or maybe worse. It truly depended on the day and what had been happening and who was feeling the gracious mood.
Cole looked around and noticed that the boy had traveled a good distance from the town. It would take a bit of time to get there but they would be able to go and get some food and he could always drop the necklace off at another time that would be more convinient. He waited for the boy's answer patiently but knew that the boy was lieing through the skin of his teeth. As he thought about earlier. No one had traveled the road recently; to say the least the boy's story had many holes that were to big to fill in. But since this was his first time catching him he wasnt going to go to hard on him and like he said earlier this would be his only warning next time he steals he would not be so gracious but should it be about necessities like food all he would have to do was ask the vendor to create a credit until he was able to earn some money to pay it off. Cole let out a barely audible chuckle he does that himself quite a bit though he is often told that he didnt have to but he liked being able to pay off what debts he gains by working for the people and just living life with them showing them that nobles arent just the rich people who impose taxes on them and protect them. But that was just Cole's thoughts and the other knights have told him that he was not normal at all. He was not what people would think of being a knight if they did not know him. That's usually how he got into some trouble with other lords for being near their daughters and wives.

§ Cole let out another throaty laugh at Arthur's teasing. "Oh yes sire. A child, like the stable boy Neav, could flip me over." Cole enjoyed the times when his friend was able to relax even a little bit and joke with people. These times were rare seeing as he was the prince and didnt have a whole lot of time to truly unwind from one thing or another at least that was how Cole saw it.
Cole smiled at Arthur when he said that he wouldnt like to hear a conversation between the two of them and while he was only kidding he probably wouldnt want to hear it. She was a very opinionated woman and often spoke before she thought. "Well I'm not to sure of that. But I'm not sure how well you two would get along. She is...different than the women that are around court and or even the common people." Cole stated the last part with a little bit of hesitation. With Arthur he was never sure who he would be-friend or who he would rather fight and get rid of. And Cole knew that if Arthur approached with the arrogant attitude that he had sometimes there would be an ongoing war between the two. And the only good thing is that Arthur would never attack a woman unless he absolutely had too. But should they get to deep within an arguments he woulndt doubt be shocked to find the two locked in combat ( he had no doubt that his Prince would win he was nigh defeatable should they lock swords or other weapons). But when Arthur said that he should take the chance to go and find her he let out a soft laugh. What Arthur didnt know is that whenever he went away that, that was what he had been doing. "Yes I could do that. I have been doing that, actually. I've been doing it for many years and havent found her. Maybe I am just looking to hard. For now though i will just take the time to help with the preparations for the festival and help out where ever else that I am needed." Cole looked at Arthur with a smirk. "Like wiping the ground with you, my Prince" Cole stated with a jokingtone.

Cole had to resist the urge to slap his forehead with his hand. The boy was being difficult and in all honesty if he would just give the necklace back he would be scott free and Cole didnt want a confrontation especially with a boy so young. Though through the entire time the boy was talking he didnt lose his smile.
When he said he had bought it. It was an obvious lie. There hadnt been many travelers on the rode for a while and if there had been you would have heard the heavy foot steps, a horse, talking, anything really. Cole knew a little about jewlery having had to inspect it in the market for presents and the like. The cut of the jewels was much different than the cut of glass. Yes they can be cut to similar styles this wasnt one of those styles. This was the necklace that he was looking for. "Hmmm, just mere glass eh? Well then you wouldnt mind if i took a look then; if its not the necklace that I'm looking for then this little debaticle was for not." He smiled. "And if its as you say then I'll have to look for the thief and ask for the necklace back. I'm not one for violence and the lady that I spoke to earlier demanded retribution but that's not my style. I'll just let the boy (or girl) off with a warning." Cole said playing along with the line of thought that the younger male had decided to portray. Cole was not as blind as some he couldnt be not when the Prince and his family and friends were concerned one mere slip up on his part could mean life or death. But he could tell the difference when the boy made up the little story. That necklace was to finely crafted made of pure silver to have been made by a small traveling vendor (at least in his opinion.)
Cole rested the hand that was over his weapon on his side but close enough that should the boy attack it would be easy to grab and defend him self and hopefully the boy wont run. While many think that his armor was heavy it was quite the opposite. It being made of ancient dragon hide helped a lot.

Cole let out a chuckle at the teasing. "Oh yes sire it is that easy for a tiny woman around five feet to flip a man of my height over her shoulder." Cole stated with a bit of sarcasm but had a smile on his lips showing that he didnt take offence to the statement. That day was one that he still remember clearly. He remember just walking up to the woman and just placing a hand on her shoulder and she flipped him. He was so shocked that he had laid their for several moments just looking up into equally startled icy eyes. "Seriously sire, she's a tiny little thing, but has a loud mouth but a kind nature."
Cole looked at Arthur and nodded. He was right. Despite the odd things that happened things did turn out for the better. He was somewhat excited for the festivites that were coming up he was tempted to enter the sword events but he hadnt decided yet. But he let out a small laugh when Arthur said that he could invite her to the ball. Wouldnt he be in such a shock to find out that she was a nomad. Cole was feeling mischievious and decided that he wanted to see his friends reaction to what he would say. "I would invite her if I knew where she was. Honestly, the woman is a nomad and is never in the same place for too long unless she finds something to entertain her." He smiled and continued to flip his sword lazily not noticing that he had cut himslef slightly.

Cole's Day had originally started out with out any problems. That is until he left the castle; then all he was hearing about was the fact that a thief stole a minor noble woman's necklace. Cole spoke to the woman and calmed her down enough to explain to him what happened. Cole tried not to let out a laugh at the woman's flustered face as she told him that her necklace was just taken by a little street urchin and they took off towards the forest. She had demanded retribution by cutting of the boy's hand as a lesson but Cole had a soft spot and talked her down to just him getting her necklace back.
So here he was walking aimlessly through the forest down a path. He quirked a brow when he heard some rustling. Well, it seemed that he found the little thief. He casually walked around the bend and saw a hooded boy holding the necklace. Seeing his hand on his dagger Cole placed his hand 'casually' onto his sword. While he didn't want to be hostile he would use force if he had too. Cole placed a disarming smile on his face hoping to loosen the tension that seemed to escalate the longer the two were there. "Well...Hello there." Cole stated with a charismatic smile.
He was still being very cautious. Though, he was sure that the king and other nobles thought that he was just a goof off that didn't know how to be serious but he did. he just chose not to approach everything with a 'Everything-must-die' attitude. He chose to approach with a peaceful attitude, then turning into the serious knight that he was taught to be if things were not able to be dealt with in a peaceful manner. He glanced at the necklace in the boy's brown hand. "It seems that you have something that I've been looking for; something that isn't yours." He stated obviously his smile still in place, hi hand remained on his sword and his feet shifted into a ready position should he be attacked. Cole was very glad that he decided to wear his black armor that day it would help serve him and reduce the chance of injury.

Timeline: During S.1 episode 5 :Lancelot TOD: Early morning (throught the day ) Tag(s): Lancelot Cole walked onto the training field that morning to watch the final challenges. And to say the least he was quite disappointed. He was hoping for a more entertaining match. He wanted someone else to whoop the prince in his best field. He does it on occasion but that is only when they are just messing around. While he was good Arthur was slightly better. then men that had come to be knights had the look down pat, some the attitudes needed a little work seeing as they were stiff as boards but that would be easy to remedy. But their skills were mediocer at best. And that was being polite; if Cole had his way they would not eve nbe able to set foot in the challenge unless they could truly prove that their skills were note worthy or even better than Arthur's (which was a fairly hard thing to do seeing as he has been trained since birth for combat of all sorts). During the fight Cole looked over at Merlin and Gwen with curious eyes. They had a new commer with them; a noble man's son from the looks of it. Cole watched as the two conversed and when Arthur walked away Cole approached the man.
"Hello there friend." He stated with a smile as he walked up, he was wearing his casual clothes that consisted of a white shirt under a tan vest with his brown pants and boots, the man was a curious one at that he seemed to not know what to do with himself when he had handed over what looked like his credentials. "I havent met you before. I am Sir Cole Barrera. Who might you be?" Cole stuck out his hand with a casualness that wasnt often found within the knights. The man looked timid but confident at the same time like he wasnt sure if he truly belonged there. But Cole could be wrong in his thinking and obviously it was just his own mind making up assumtions as most usually do when meeting someone. He nodded towards Gwen and Merlin the same smile still on his face as he waited for the man to tell him who he was.

Cole laughed lightly at Arthur's question and gave a small shrug. "A woman I met on my first travels." Cole stated nonchalantly. "The first time we met she flipped me over her shoulder." Cole couldn't help but let a small laughed when Arthur said it was basically better to experience it than to watch. He would admit that he didn't really feel the need to to that but watching what transpires between both Arthur and Merlin was very entertaining to say the least.
Cole knew that Arthur had seen through his almost complete lie. And that forsaken eyebrow of his rose with the question. That was one thing that Cole could get annoyed about but not enough to say something. But he nodded. Gaius did ask him to retrieve a book for him but that was only because he had offered to get it.Cole gave Arthur a deadpanned look, he really thought that he lied (though he sort of did just not completely). But a smile graced his features as he twist his blade easily in his hand. "I wasn't lying sire. I did go on an errand for Gaius but I offered to go. Merlin was to busy doing something or another for you at the time...Something to do with flowers and a note," He shrugged casually. "I had nothing better to do at the time and it wasn't like the royals really needed a knight or my status at a peace treaty." He let the flat side of the blade flip over the back of his hand before grabbing the handle and repeating the action a few more times.
Sometimes Cole hated that he was an open book to most that knew how to read him. Arthur was one of those few people and Arthur was one of those few people that he really trusted. One thing though was that he did think that Arthur could tell that he wasnt joking about the woman. Hopefully he didnt ask to many questions about what ahppened on his little 'errand' tha he went on and what he was doing exactly.

{hope you don't mind if I join in } Cole had decided that today he would stay away from the castle. Even a knight needed a break every now and then. He saw some of the people talking and heard something about a ranger catching the 'thief' who wasn't a thief at all. He also heard that Gwen had stood up for the boy. That was not uncommon. Gwen had a good heart and she was a very kind woman.
He smiled in greetings to people who spoke to him but a wide teasing smile slid easily onto his young face as he saw the three standing there. Walking up he easily slid an arm around Gwen, those who knew him knew that he was just doing this to get a rise from people and it usually worked. "Why hello there Gwen. Fancy meeting a beautiful lady like you here" He stated easily and looking at her with a smile, anyone who knew him knew that he liked to flirt and that he liked to tease people.Arthur knew this and often said that he would meet the wrong end of the sword one of these days when he flirted with the wrong woman so he stuck to those he had know for a while and since he practically grew up with the Prince in the castle, it was pretty much any woman within the castle walls (with the exception of the Lady Morgana...the King would kill him). He saw the ranger and quirked a brow in curiosity before asking his question; As a knight of Camelot he vowed to help keep the peace and make sure the people were fairing well enough. "So ranger whats this I hear about a thief?" He looked around he didn't see a thief or a street urchin the only ones he saw was Gwen, the stable boy Neav and the ranger; of course he had arrived just after the whole debacle and had no idea that everything was just a misunderstanding. Cole peered at the boy with a smile. He removed his arm from around Gwen and ruffled the boys hair in a teasing and disarming manner. The boy looked absolutely terrified. "Why hello there Neav." He stated softly. He always did have a soft spot for kids, and Neav was no exception though the boy seemed very timid and afraid he adored the horses and his own horse, Copa (a gray Appaloosa) was always well taken care of when he could not get the time to go to the stables himself. He looked at the ranger and peered at him. He knew him or at least he recognized the face. Maybe Arthur knew him? Maybe he had met him on his travels? "Do I know you; you seem familiar?" Cole asked not really hearing anything the ranger had said about the market he had been to lost within his own thoughts.

Cole hated it when Arthur turned things around on him but laughed anyways. Maybe this would be the time to tell Arhtur about the woman he loves...Just maybe. Why yes Arthur I do. She's just not with me. She's not even in Camelot. Cole stated with enough serious to show Arthur that he was only joking, but he couldnt help but feel a bit down that he,for one reason or another, could not tell his friend that what he had just said was true...And hopefully Arthur wasnt paying as close of attention to the tone of his voice to notice the change in it that indicated that he wasnt lying and that what he said was if fact a truth.. No one knew that he was in love. In love with a nomad to be exact, not even she knew (that in its self was a sad thought). He didnt draw his sword and just watched Arthur with a smile.
There it was! The fondness that enters Arthur's voice when he talks of his friends. Its barely noticeable and those who dont know him wouldnt pick up on it. But Cole knew the tone. Having used it himself quite a bit when he was younger. Now Sire, why would I need a servant to boss around when I get to watch you have fun tormenting him. Cole was joking somewhat he didnt need a servant he had two capable hands that served him well. But he did admit that a servant to helpmake dinner would be nice but he wouldnt say that aloud. arthur might actually send him a servant!
Cole didnt say anything else bout the she-devil. But laughed at Arthur when he had asked where he went he was wondering when he would ask that. In truth he had actually went searching for the girl he loves. He didnt tell Arthur that, no he would never live it down. It wouldnt be hard to say that he had went on an errand for Gaius a few towns over. Cause that was what he originally set out to do, he just took a little detour. He drew his sword and twisted his wrist loosening up the muscles before he answered Well M'Lord I went on an errand for Gaius. He had a book on hold a few towns over and asked me to retrieve it seeing as he was so busy here. Said he needed it for some new remedies or something to that effect. Cole smiled and tapped the toe of his boot to the ground. For them this sort of banter and talk was normal and he was a bit nerous as to what Arthur would say to him actually loveing someone. In the past he would say that he would never fall in love and that he would flirt with them but never touch. Not because he didnt want a family it was just that he had no time to create one. Let alone protect them and raise any son or daughter that may come into being. He was a knight and a knight's duty was to his king and the kings family. But even then that was just a cover to keep people from asking him when he was going to have a wife or if he was interested. This will be the first time he's spoken of it...ever.
