Haldir ~ Healer of the Realm ~ ~ Warrior of Mabon ~ | ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name of Character:. Haldir .:Nick Name:. None .:Age:. Physically has the appearance of 31 .:Status:. Healer and Warrior
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Haldir has fair, light skin, and large blue eyes. His hair is blond, falling past his shoulders and always remains pin straight. Sometimes he clips it back, other times t falls loosely. Either way it often stays neat. He has a bit of a muscular and wider build as he must be physically fit to fight. He usually wears armor when he is outside of Mabon, but not wanting to immediately pose as a threat, he covers it with a large cloak or cape. Within Mabon, since there is usually no need for violence, he wears more casual clothing, usually a long robe or something else native to the realm. He walks with very straight posture, having his chin up a bit making him appear to be very proper, and perhaps a bit stuck up. .:Height:. 6"2 .:Portrayed by:. Craig Parker .:Adoptable:. No need
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Haldir has a bit of a more serious personality. He is completely comfortable with other faeries, however has very different opinions when it comes to humans. He does not like asking them for help, or seeking aid from them, or anyone for that matter, for he feels that they can do nothing and that the faeries will be able to survive on their own. He does not have the best sense of humor and does not crack that many jokes, giving him a more serious persona. He does not display all that much emotion, though it is usually clear that he is more at ease with his own kind than when he is out of his realm. Outside Mabon, to avoid conversing with humans, he usually pretends that he can not speak English. He just maintains a stern and serious expression while he is silently irritated.
He is a man of intellect displaying vast knowledge about the world, both the world of magic and the human world. He is very protective over his own kind and loyal and obedient to those he serves and cares for. He is not one to over display his emotions, and definitely is not a touchy feely kind of person, often not hugging or showing any affection towards others in public. .:Strengths:.
Excellent Warrior[/li][li] Very intelligent [/li][li] Protective, loyal and honorable[/li][/ul] .:Weaknesses:. Has trouble asking for help[/li][li] Sometimes too serious [/li][li] Has a more cynical point of view towards humans[/li][/ul] .:Magic Abilities:. Haldir possess the general magical abilities of a faery, however each faery possesses one unique gift and his is the power to heal. It is true that all of them have this ability, however his is the strongest in the realm. When a faery can not heal another, whether it be another faery, human or any other kind of magical being, Haldir can often do this. He has mastered his gift and is considered the Healer of Mabon. .:Special Skills:. Apart from his magical abilities he is a gifted warrior. Usually violence is not the means in which they solve things, however he has trained to fight, a master of swordsmanship and archery as these two are his weapons of choice. He has built an army within Mabon and only leads it when it is imperative, for his role as a Healer is more important than his role as a general and leader of the army. .:Accents:. Soft English accent, has a bit of a deep voice and speaks with great articulation| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ | .:Birthplace:. Mabon .:Occupation:. Healer of the Realm, Warrior of Mabon .:Current Location of Residence:. Mabon, often travels with Maeve to offer protection and in case she gets severely injured.:History:. Haldir was born and raised in Mabon in a comfortable, luxurious lifestyle. He was married and lived a happy, ordinary life. Until things took a drastic turn. One day, a group of faeries ventured out of the realm to the human world to gather some things and just explore the land. This was not uncommon for them to do so, and Haldir's wife often accomponied this group of traveling faeries. However this time, it ended very differently.
The timing was terrible, as it was when the Great Purge took place. The group of faeries were captured and killed, Haldir's wife included. This event made him very bitter and angry towards humans. While he was not particularly attached to them before, this only strengthened that distance. He does not believe that they are the answer to the survival of his race, nor does he think there is any hope for there to be peace between his kind and humans. Though this view conflicts with his Queen, he still travels with her, offering her physical protection and the ability to heal her if any harm comes to her. He makes no secret of his opposing views but also does not take action against his Queen or diminishes the hope of his realm. He is usually back and forth between Mabon and the human world, carrying a sword, bow and arrow and his magical ability to heal others with him.[/blockquote]

Maeve would have deeply curtsied had she been standing. But she was still near the ground, next to the woman who now identified herself as Caitrin. Lady Caitrin, it is an immense honor to make your acquaintance though I wish we could have met under better circumstances. She did not know the de Archer family, but that did not make it any less of a privilege to meet her. Maeve never took such things for granted, for every encounter with a person was a wonderful thing. Or at least started with a positiveness, until something could happen to drastically alter that. In this case, she did not fear violence from Caitrin. In fact, she felt nothing from her that made her suspect the young woman of hostility.
She watched her attempt to move, before Caitrin asked her for assistance. Maeve was all to happy to comply, and to hear that Caitrin was taking her up on her offer to aid her. Of course, she said without an ounce of reluctance. She moved to Caitrin's side, very gently taking her arm and putting it over her shoulder to help her sit up in a more comfortable position. It will be difficult to walk. May I suggest that just for now, you lean against this tree to support your back. Until you are better able to stand. Which... Maeve was not sure how long it would take. Though I have a camp very close, if you would like to recover there? Maeve offered, knowing that at least that way, she could offer the young woman food and drink to help her keep up her strength.

Thepoor dear! His injuries sounded far worse than she had initially suspected. And now, he was tremendously injured from them! It was not a life threatening wound so Maeve knew she could avoid using her healing powers, but there was still something in terms of nurturing that she wished to help him with. Besides, it appeared he was all alone with no one to care for him. And no one should have to be like this. She looked so sad, so tired, so......so very many different things that it would be impossible for Maeve to turn a blind eye and walk away from him when he looked so.... in need of help. The concern filled her eyes, and she fought back the tears from forming in them. Out of genuine sympathy for the pain he was feeling.
If she was not so clouded with immediate concern, perhaps she would have recognized the inconsistency between his words and expressions and his emotions and aura. But she was not focusing on that right now. Besides, no one would lie about being wounded! And she had actually seen him trip so it was not as if he had made that up! She stopped walking immediately when she noticed his limp and furthermore, his admittance that he could not move. This only encouraged her to help him, not that she needed much more reason to say. Oh you poor dear! She stated so very worried about his well being. Here, allow me to help you, he offered, already at his side. She put one arm around his back and took his to drape it around her shoulder.
So this way, she could give him some more support when walking. She did not mind physical contact as she was never really restricted in this area. In fact, she tended to be a bit too friendly. Yet something else that Haldir often did not approve of, for he did not like how people reacted to it. Some less innocently than others. We will not go far. The river is over there and it will give you a place to rest. She explained before slightly turning her head so that she could look at him. Are you ready? Please take your time, so to avoid causing your foot further strain. She did not want him to rush for he could only injure it further and increase its severity.

Maeve only continued to smile, though she was sensing so many different emotions from Isabel. She wondered, if her reluctance to accept the gift was because she did not want to take anything for free, or if it was because of what the stones represented. She senses discomfort and in a way, Maeve felt guilty for that. At the same time, she wanted to help her and this was the only way she could without prying and thus, exposing her true identity as a faery. It was a dangerous revelation to make, and only did so when she came across a person who's life was in jeopardy. Please, I insist, she said softly. She did not want to force the gift onto her, but gently urged her to take it.
She took another step closer to Isabel, holding out the piece of jewelry for her to take. It would be an honor if I could gift something to a Lady of the Massard family. She may not have to know the actual family to want to give a gift to one of its members. It was just the desire that drove her to offer it without the exchange of coin or anything else. Maeve had crafted it herself, so why charge for such a thing when it had the ability to aid another person. It would be like Maeve demanding payment for having helped heal someone. Completely unnecessary and it would feel oh so very wrong!

Maeve`s smile remained bright and excited. Oh if only she had known at the time that it had been Alistair whom Isadora spoke of....Maeve would have done more to reassure her that everything would have been okay. Because she would have been saying it with personalized assurance, rather than only knowing the man vicariously through the princess. I do! She answered, before going on to explain the detail of their encounter. In a previous visit to Gwent, I came across the dear princess. She stopped by my stall in the market, and later was so very kind to invite me to her home. Maeve had gifted her with a necklace, hoping the essence of what the stones and symbols in it represented. She even recalled that it had been a druid design, unsure of what it was that had made it feel so right.
Now she knew. She is so very gracious and amiable! She added, enjoying with how much truth and sincerity she could say these words. She will make a wonderful queen, and you will make a wonderful husband for her. Wonderful was truly an understatement, but there were not many words in English she could use to describe how happy she felt for them both. She knew that Alistair was not looking to seek the title 'king', which is why she had referred to him as a 'husband'....because he was more family orientated than motivated by political rank. Amin 'eis ikotane sai cadia. Further expressing her joy by saying in her language, how happy she was.

Maeve was enjoying the fresh, warm air that filled the kingdom of Camelot today. She had been in the market, 'selling' various pieces of jewelry she had made. Her cover was a merchant, selling unique items in the marketplace, when in actuality, she was someone far different. But there had been no need to reveal who she was, especially in Camelot. This particular kingdom held immense danger and threat for those who practiced magic, or were even suspected of doing such a thing. Haldir always opposed coming here, or at least her going off on her own....but Maeve did not wish to discriminate between kingdoms. What if the answer for her people lay here? What if somehow, a way to save them existed in this very place? She would gladly sacrifice her life if it meant her kind could live, and no longer live in danger. It was worth the risk...though she also knew she was not good to anyone if dead.
So with those thoughts, she had promised Haldir not to venture too far from where they had set camp. He tended to avoid the city, disliking being amongst the human crowd. Of course he would be here in an instant if needed, but she was hoping that extra protection would be unnecessary, as she was not expecting any danger to befall her. But it was always the unexpected that proved to be the most threatening. Maeve walked along the soft grass, wearing a long dress that formed a small tail behind her as she walked; she had left her cloak at him, finding no need for it at the present moment. She froze however, when she felt something. It was so very strong and it caused distress within Maeve. She felt pain; death; darkness. So many different things that she could hardly deffrentiate between them. She had to stop for several moments, closing her eyes, trying to collect her thoughts and emotions, remaining composure. Her curiosity and concern was what caused her to follow this trail of pain and discover the source. It was not too far, and so did not take long for her eyes to lay witness to the gruesome scene that unfolded before her. She just stood there, staring as a young woman proceeded to kill a rabbit. Maeve knew all about the custom of hunting in this realm, however there was something rather sinister about this killing....this massacre of the rabbit. She could not help but gasp, knowing this sound would give her away, not that she had been trying too hard to hide herself from sight. Her eyes widened in shock as she felt them moisten with tears. It was a combination over having to witness this rabbit die in such a way, as its killer smiled and laughed, as well as the aura surrounding the once alive rabbit, and now deceased. It was too much, and left Maeve just standing there, staring in shock.
She knew she had to do something...or at least say something. But words momentarily escaped her for she could just stare, feeling a single tear trail down her cheek. She was not ashamed to cry for the loss of life, whether it be a person or animal. It was sad all the same. And this was certainly not how she was used to seeing an animal killed, for Mabon's customs differed greatly. They were less....violent. I....did not mean to spy. Words of apology were the first that left her lips, as it was indeed something she was guilty of. She had not meant to spy at all yet now that she was looking at her and the bleeding small creature, she could not tear her gaze away, no matter how much she wanted to.
(( Oh noes!!! I hope you feel better!! Take as much time as you need and make sure you get plenty of rest!!! ))

Well that was an excellent start! Even if his recovery began with something such as inhaling, it was a wonderful way to commence his path to recovery. She just continued to smile, unable to conceal her relief. I am just so happy we found you in time. For I dare not think of the alternative. And how afraid she had been that he would die. But it had worked out for the better, so she need not focus on the what if and what could of happened. His next question, she knew, would require an extended response to having given a brief one earlier. You are alive. That seemed to be the most important thing for him to realize right now.
That he was not dead. That he was simply in another realm, rather than the world that followed whatever came after this one. You are in Mabon; the realm of faeries. She knew these words revealed quite a lot. Especially for those who did not believe in their kind....those who did not believe that faeries existed. And with continuing violence against them, such beliefs would be proven true. I brought you here so that you could recover in peace. So that he would not live in threat, and if he so desired it....he could find a home here. But she doubted it. His place was with his people...back home, for she could feel a strong loyalty from him.

Maeve lowered her head into a deep nod when he thanked her. It was acknowledgment for his gratitude, though unnecessary. She also could sense his reluctance but knew him well enough to know that it was in his nature to not be used to hearing such words. In that time they had gotten to know each other in Mabon, she had learned a great deal about him. He went on to say that she would one day rule this land....and Maeve's eyes slightly widened with surprise upon hearing this revelation. It was the princess of Gwent?! She had gotten to know both individuals seperately, and together. Yet in learning of them together, in each case the other had left the name undisclosed.
But now, she was understanding everything....all the details of each person finally merging together to make utter sense. She is princess Isadora de Caerleon of Gwent, Maeve said, feeling the need to vocally say the words to fully understand the magnitude of this situation. It was not less than wonderful! Her happiness for him, and for the princess, only grew upon hearing this. For Alistair to have found someone who loved him so dearly, and for her to have someone to care for her and love her as he did....it was truly a wonderful thing and Maeve's eyes teared in pure joy for the couple. This tended to be a frequency for an emotional woman such as herself. She is a wonderful woman.
Maeve said smiling, though still trying to fully grasp his words as they filled her with so much surprise. The difficulties you two have faced and will face are certainly not easy, she added as further acknowledgment. But you both have been truly blessed, to find someone who makes the other so happy. And I can not tell you how excited I am for you! She also could not help but wonder what this would mean on a larger scale. Could this somehow help her people? Help save the race of faeries? Maeve knew it was too soon to question such things, and it was not the initial thoughts that had entered her mind. Her primary reaction was how happy she was for him. And now, for the woman who finally had a name.

In addition to waking up, he was now speaking too. Though they weren't the most charming of words. Maeve stifled a laugh, trying not to smile by his words spoken in his language. She also knew that they were made in 'innocent' humor though Haldir would most certainly see differently. Furthermore, Alistair went on to speak English, speaking to Maeve about Haldir this time for all to understand. It only agitated the faery further. Haldir did not like outsiders to begin with and this certainly was not making him warm up to Alistair. She would also to say something, not wanting to see either man upset. Even if it was in good humor, though the good humor aspect of it was a bit one sided. As Haldir found no amusement in this situation. Ro tael n'uma cas. She assured him in a gentle voice, placing a hand on Haldir's shoulder to calm him.
Haldir looked at Alistair sternly, completely unappreciative of his 'joking' words. Sina air' mani air' raika yassen gwaith a're. Once again, Maeve found herself having to suppress a smile at his words. She wanted no animosity between both men, but also knew that they had no ill will towards each other. It was simple teasing....of sorts. With those words, Haldir decided to make his leave from the presence of the druid. Maeve watched him exit before lowering herself to her knees so that she could speak to Alistair at the same eye level. It sounds like you are doing much better, she said smiling, this time a glimmer of amusement in her eyes and jovial expression.

Maeve felt that instant panic that filled the young woman when she awoke to see her. It was understandable, but that alarm mixed in with her pain, made Maeve feel guilty for contributing to the woman's already distressed state. Te pain she sensed from her was overwhelming, making Maeve wish all the more that she could completely alleviate it from her. Knowing this was an impossibility, it instead caused her eyes to slightly moisten with tears. No one deserved to be in such a pained state, regardless of who they were or what they did. When the woman began to shift away from Maeve, she released her hand, giving her that required space for she knew that with her wounds, she would not be able to move far.
But Maeve was not about to leave her here on her own, as it seemed that she had no companions nearby. "You mustn't move so quickly, she spoke in a soft, but concerned voice. It was spoken with gentleness as it was not a harsh demand on her part. Only a request that would aid Caitrin in her current state. You are greatly injured, and your mobility is hindered. At least that would somewhat explain where the pain was originating from. My name is Maeve, she went on to answer, knowing that it was only appropriate to answer her valid question. I found you like this, and I wish to help you if you will permit me to do so. Whether it was just by offering her company, or helping her return to her home.

Maeve could feel the sincerity in her voice, but what she could not yet determine was the source of her negative emotions. Which was why she felt a strange wave of relief when Isabel agreed to see what she had to offer. It was not about the money, though Maeve thought it kind for the woman to assure her of future payment. It was so strange in this realm; that no one seemed to believe in a selfless kind act. To the people here, a good deed had the expectation to be reciprocated and Maeve had often wondered how some people could so easily dismiss a gesture out of the kindness of their hearts, rather than purely for selfish purposes.
But once again, it was not her place to judge these things. Such was the way of their customs and she respected that, being a visitor in these lands. Maeve continued to smile, feeling more and more compelled to aid this woman....even if she did not require her assistance. I would like to show you a particular piece, She began to say as she searched her bag for it. She had a certain one in mind for Isabel. Maeve crafted specific things for specific people, but upon first meeting someone she could easily establish which jewelry pieces suited them....based on what emotions she read and which stones and jewels would best suit them.
Finding the piece she required, she unwrapped the cloth from it and held it up. It was a necklace, crafted from the stones of Mabon, and its fashion which often gave it a foreign look to this realm. Which only enabled people to grow intrigued by her pieces. There were places for three stones in this necklace, and the one on both the left and right side were sodalite, with the one in the middle being sapphire. As both stones were of a blue color, they were of different shades making the piece look compatible but also hold a detectable difference between them. The intricate border of each pendant consisted of small diamonds which was also what was embedded in the silver chain. Holding it up, allowed it to glisten making it all the more appealing to ones eye. (( CLICK to see necklace! ))
But as Maeve had said before, this piece held significance, not only for its style but for what each stone represented. There are two kinds of stones in this necklace, Maeve began to explain, even though Isabel may not be interested in their symbolism. The one on the left and right is sodalite. It purifies ones aura, cleansing it from negativity and protecting you from negative energy from people around you. It was the negativity that Maeve had detected from her; the darkness in her heart; the dark aura surrounding her. The stone in the middle is sapphire, she went on to say. It promotes light, pure emotions. Such as the purity of ones mind, serenity, joy, and peace. It opens the mind to beauty and love, and clears the mind from unwanted thoughts.
Whatever plagued Isabel.....the sapphire would hopefully encourage the light from the darkness; keep her mind open to the good rather than the bad. These two stones working together, held all the more power. They were not enchanted, but it was more the essence of them. It depended on whether the person was open to allowing them to grant them solace and peace, for it would only be then that they found serenity in them. As Maeve often designated certain stones to certain people. Maeve rose to her feet once more and offered it for Isabel to take, a smile on her lips. It is a gift. Because Maeve did not want coin for it. She wanted to help Isabel; she wanted to help cleanse all the darkness from her. Whatever caused it, however deep it was emerged in her....no one was past help.

She was nobility, as she defined herself using a title and giving her full name. This would change nothing about Maeve's interactions with her, for even if she was a servant, she would still respectfully bow. It had taken Maeve several years of exploring this realm to recognize that those here did not bow down to just everyone...they solely bowed down to those who were high in the societal hierarchy. A concept that the queen of Mabon could not quite understand, yet knew better than to disrespect the customs of this world. My dear Lady, it is a pleasure of mine to make your acquaintance. While there was something about her that still unnerved Maeve, it was always a pleasure to meet others....even if there was some sort of aura of darkness surrounding them and in their heart.
As the subject shifted to her jewelry piece, Maeve smiled. This time, the smile was not solely out of politeness, but rather, because she had flattered her by complimenting her work. Thank you immensely, she replied sincerely. I did make it myself, she added but of course not in a boastful manner; only confirmation in Isabel's assumption. But this was not the piece of jewelry for her. It was not right for what Maeve felt from her. Something else would be far better suited for her, and Maeve found herself highly compelled to show her rather than just offer what convenience had presented. If you like, I have far more pieces, ones that may be of greater interest than this unfinished one. But Maeve had a specific one in mind. She went towards her back and knelt down beside it, smiling up at the woman who was still some distance away, wondering if she desired to look or felt it was unnecessary.

Maeve found his smile practically contagious. His words were spoken with such friendliness, that she found herself smiling in return. What a kind man! She knew full well that Haldir would not be too approving of this, but he never objected to the point of defiance. He merely protected her yet, it was men like the one in front of her who did not take a kind offer for granted. While there was something she felt from him, it came clouded by the instinctive concern she felt from him. Her smile faded when he spoke of requiring her assistance. Oh perhaps it was more serious than she had thought! One should never assume such things, for he could have injured his foot, the pain simply numbed yet presence.
Though, she did not sense any pain from him. He could very well be strong enough to hide it though. I am, she answered when he questioned her capability. It was of course a completely valid question, though she would not mention just how well versed she was in the ability to heal others. If need be though, she would indeed use more than natural remedy to aid him. He brought her hand from his arm and placed the palm of it on his forehead, as if trying to feel for something. She obviously felt no restriction when it came to offering a touch if only to aid another. She felt many things, mostly his exhaustion, which only made her more concerned for him. He must be hungry and thirsty, as well as tired. Did he have any food to fill the hunger cravings? Or any water to quench his thirst?
After a few moments she lowered her hand, looking into his eyes so that he would know her concern for him was genuine. You are so very tired, she said, vocally revealing that she recognized this. Of course, it did not take any powers to recognize such a thing, for it was apparent in his eyes. Please, you must rest. Come with me, she urged, wanting to take his hand and lead him to a more peaceful resting place. There was a lake nearby and it would be easier to help him if he found an appropriate place to sit, and nearby access to water. She did not however yet take his hand, as she knew from personal experience that some humans strongly objected to this action....some even went a little too far. This was where Maeve's naivety got the better of her. Instead, she just took a small step forward and turned to look at him, wondering if he was able to walk or if he had injured his foot as a result of his stumble.

Maeve watched as the woman came into the clearing. She was a young beautiful individual, yet something within her betrayed her seeming innocence. Maeve was far from being rude though, so instead of immediately questioning what troubled her....she just remained silent. Having also been sidetracked by the woman's demanding question of who she was and her reasons for being here. Out of respect, Maeve lowered herself into a deep curtsy. It was the appropriate greeting, despite title and rank for in Mabon, it was the customary way to greet a person and these were small traditions that Maeve often carried with her when venturing out of her home. Her gaze went to the ground, once again out of respect and after a few moments, rose to her feet, her eyes resting on the woman once more.
There was something so dark about her, yet Maeve remained polite in answering her justified questions. I am Maeve, she answered in a soft voice. I am here as a peaceful traveler, journeying through these woods. She of course had no problem answering such questions, for they were spoken with honesty. Even if parts of her response had to be left out in order to protect her life, as well as Haldir's. I am a merchant, she went on to say, which would of course explain the bracelet clutched in her hand. If I may ask, what is your name dear? She had to ask, because she wanted to know more of this woman. She wanted to know what it was about her that sent a chill down Maeve's spine and thus far, she could not determine the answer.

Maeve was enjoying the beautiful day! Without a set destination in mind, it made the journey so much more peaceful and enjoyable. They could take their time, despite the desperation to find aid to their people. There was no way she could rush this, so she may as well enjoy what beauties that this realm had to offer during their grander purpose. She had left her cloak back where Haldir and Mirshann were resting. The strong sun was far too glorious to be covered in layers. So instead, she clad herself in a lilac dress that covered her feet flowed freely in the back as a tail, yet was able to move gracefully in it. She allowed her hair to flow freely in the very light wind, and was simply enjoying everything that these woods had to offer.
She paused, only when realizing that she was not alone. Someone was near her, and it did not take long for a figure to come into sight to satisfy this curiosity. It was a young man, a long term traveler from the looks of it. She could feel the fatigue in him; how he was worn and....oh dear! How he tripped! Maeve's eyes slightly widened in alarm for his well being. She may not know him, but that did not make her less than concerned about his health. If need be, she could aid him in the ways that her race enabled her to. While he did not seem too badly injured she would of course have to check just to be sure! She rushed over to him, moving at an elegant pace yet she did not want to take her time. Practically gliding towards him, he did not seem to notice another lurking presence.
Which made sense as she approached him from the side. She quickly moved forward without a moment's hesitation so that she was now standing directly at his side, hoping her words would stop him from moving forward. Just to make sure, she gently put her hand on his arm as a further attempt to stop him. Kind Sir, are you alright? She asked with a voice filled with genuine concern and inquiry. I noticed you nearly fell and would like to make sure you are well. If he would let her of course. She could not force her aid upon others, so would never understand how people could withhold from offering assistance to those who may require it.

Maeve was traveling through the woods of Cantia. A beautiful kingdom and one that Maeve was truly enjoying the scenery of. This realm was so very different from her home, yet still held beauty....just of a different kind. There was more darkness in this world, and it was also why Maeve found herself venturing far from Mabon. She was currently sitting on the soft grass, while Haldir was surveying the area and would probably not return for hours....unless there was an immediate threat around her. But for now, she was enjoying the serenity of the quiet woods. Mirshann was wandering around as well, knowing when to return to her and as she was settled in this one spot, she would not need him here for hours either.
She sang to herself in a quiet voice, as she was weaving a new design for a piece of jewelry she was creating. She did not often take money for them, for monetary gain was not the objective....her being a merchant was merely a cover, a way for her to blend into this society. She enjoyed giving them as gifts though, as she has done several times in the past. She was wedging in a jewel on her latest bracelet when her hand suddenly slipped from its position. This was not done by accident, but rather, just a very reflexive act; a reaction to something she suddenly felt. A cold chill surged through her body as her eyes slightly widened. There was someone else near her, and it was not Haldir. It was not the presence of a traveler that alarmed her, as it was normal for them to wander through the woods.
It was more so that nature of this traveler. She felt something from them; something unexplainable. She would of course have to be close to this person to get a stronger sense of them, so for now, all she could do was try and obtain a physical sight of them. She rose from her seated position, her long flowing pale purple dress trailing behind her as her hair fell over her shoulders. She was still clutching the incomplete piece of jewelery, just waiting to see whoever it was reveal themselves. She was both curious, and intrigued....and while she was not impulsive, there were times when being too trusting of a stranger proved to be a strong weakness.

Maeve was traveling the realm outside her own; the world. One that held so much violence...so much destruction...yet, so much hope. She was not one to give up on her people or the peace that she knew everyone could attain if only they came together. But for now, she was simply searching...venturing further and further away with only the help of her riding companion, MIrshann, as well as Haldir, the healer and a warrior of her realm. With these two she traveled well from Mabon, journeying the world, as a hopeful seeker of peace. She wore her long purple cloak which flowed past her feet, covering the backside of the horse. Her hood was over her head, to protect herself from the cool wind blowing in the air.
The travels thus far had been fairly peaceful, which is why it was unusual when Maeve suddenly but gently pulled the reigns to stop Mirshann. Haldir immediately followed suit, and stopped his own horse. Mani syrdaer lle He questioned, filled with concern. Maeve paused before answering, creating a temporary silence. Eller air mystaeli. She answered, sensing another presence among them. She could feel it. There was a pain surrounding them.....someone was injured. Haldir reflexively but subtly reached for his sword which was well concealed under his own cloak.
Maeve followed the source and it did not take long to find it. A young girl collapsed on the ground, clearly unconscious. Maeve swiftly glided off her horse and rushed towards the girl, immediately dropping to her knees beside her. On tia paes. She said in a breathless whisper, feeling her eyes fill with tears. She gently placed her hand on the young woman's forehead, closing her eyes and entering a deep trance within moments. She opened her eyes, knowing that there were wounds too deep for her to heal on her own. And this, Haldir knew as well. He joined her at her side and also knelt down next to the woman. Maeve moved her hand so that Haldir could put his own in its place. He placed it on the injured woman's head, closing his eyes and whispering a few poetic words under his breath.
Maeve knew there was no need to enter herself into the woman's unconscious mind in the form of a dream ((to reassure her that she would be fine)), for she would be healed soon enough. But it did not stop the tears from forming in her eyes, allowing a single one to slowly trail down her cheek. She may not know the woman, but that did not make it easy to bare witness to seeing her in such a way. As well as feeling the pain emanating from her. It took Haldir a few moments but soon enough, he opened his eyes and rose to his feet. Re shor shi' tereva. Maeve felt a wave of relief consume her, so gladhad found her just in time. Sal ille. She thanked. She felt Haldir take a few steps away, leading his horse away and leaving Mirshann. He did not have to say where he was going for Maeve to know.
For the two of them knew each other well enough. Haldir knew that Maeve would want to stay with the girl until she was healed. Maeve knew that Haldir did not want to be around when she awoke. While Haldir was not a cruel man, he did not like the company of humans....for reasons that most other races of magic disliked them. Besides, if the young woman heard their words in her unconscious state, she would know that they had used magic to heal her...which was also why Haldir did not stray too far, for such a revelation could easily cost them their lives if they were not careful. You will be fine, She said in the softest of voices, taking one hand of the woman's in her own so that she would not feel alone in their crippled state.
They could not cause the wounds to totally disappear, such as her many cuts and bruises, but they were able to clear her head injury and ensure that her accident had not cost her her life. Maeve was not even sure if she would be mobile when she arose, as they could not predict how the body reacted to their powers of healing until it was strong enough to rise on its own. So all Maeve could do now was wait for her to awaken....holding her hand, and silently praying in foreign words, native to her home, under her breath.

Maeve listened attentively, eager to hear all that he had to say. He was right; so much has changed....both in his physical appearance as well as his emotional state. It caused her heart to ache when he spoke of how many wars there had been. She knew this all too well, even if she was not in the line of battle. She had witnessed more of her kind die, and more of innocent people in the world. It was devastating! She would find herself crying at times, lamenting over the loss of anyone who had to leave this world in the most violent of ways. Why could peace just not come sooner? How could she facilitate it? How could she bring about an era of peace and prosperity, rather than violence and devastation.
But these were not the questions she would ask him. For she knew that he held not the answer. The speak of war faded when he spoke of 'her'. The nameless woman....but Maeve did not need a name to know how much he cared for her. She could feel it; she had felt it when he had been in Mabon for that period of time, and could feel it now. They were genuine and strongly sincere emotions from his heart, and far too strong to ever be trivialized or ignored. Was he dressed as a knight for her? Was she a noblewoman of sorts? Maeve took a few steps towards him, and took his hand in hers, placing her other hand on top so that his was between her two.
What he was posing as may technically be a lie, but Maeve saw no harm in it. For it was ones intentions that determined whether their lie was done for malicious purposes or whether it was done to help another. In this case, it was his fierce loyalty to this woman, and and she admired him for this. You have found your peace in this time of war. his peace, meaning her... the woman he loved. Never let that go. Hold on to that....hold on to her. Even if you must disguise your appearance for the time being. She could feel the unease that his false position gave him, and she wanted to help him in any way that she could, even if it was just offering encouraging words. She was worth it then, and she is worth it now.
Maeve knew that he knew that, but perhaps hearing someone else say it who could feel it just a fraction of it, would help. There is not all darkness in this world and she is proof of that for you. She said these words, knowing that he had felt so hopeless in their previous time together. Maeve's smile brightened as she continued to hold his hand between hers, feeling the excitement over hearing that he found the woman he could feel solace with. I am so happy for you Alistair! It was true that she had known about this woman in their previous encounter, but this time it was different. This time, he was more settled with her....and was already making plans to be her husband one day.

Maeve continued to wipe his forehead and cheek with the dampened cloth. She began to softly hum a song native to her land, with the hopes that it would lull him into a peaceful slumber. Something that she knew he did not obtain often. But here, he would. She would do all within her capability to ensure he had a restful recovery; not having to worry about anything or anyone. Though, something within him seemed to express differently. Now was not the time to question such things. Maeve would never prioritize her own curiosity above ones health. She continued to hum, even singing a few words of the song before he seemed to be in a deep enough sleep. At which point, she put the cloth back in the bowl and raised from her knelt position.
She gently placed her hand on his forehead and leaned down, in a soft whisper speaking to him. Sleep well my friend. And with these words, placed a very soft kiss on his forehead. Not in a romantic sense, but more in a maternal way....for she deeply cared about the man as a sister did for her brother. If she did not, then she would not have brought him here. Nor entrusted him with the grand secret she knew she would have to reveal to him when he was coherent enough to hear it.
Turning to the side, she saw Haldir approach her. Ier lle mesi lye tal' ser ho? Maeve knew that Haldir trusted her completely, but she was also well aware of the fact that this was no small matter. That bringing an outsider to Mabon was something no one has done for many years. Amin ser ho thelia. And that was good enough for Haldir. He gave a short nod to her before she seated herself on a chair and just waited for Alistair to wake up. Haldir remained with her, to ensure that his health was indeed improving and nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. Their conversation consisted of updates from reports of other faeries trapped outside the realm who had just recently found their way home.
As queen, Maeve felt the burden of having lost so many of their kind, and could only pray that the world became less violent, and peace would soon prosper. Their conversation was interupted when Haldir made notice to Alistair's eyes opening. Ro air' shajol de. He was towering over the slowly awakening man, staring down at him, in that serious expression that his face always held. Especially in the presence of a foreigner. Maeve immediately rose from her seat and hurried towards him so that she was standing near Alistair, but not looking down directly at him.

His one worded question begged for a very detailed answer. Yet, she did not know how to begin. She of course would tell him, as she had brought him to such unfamiliar land. But, it was also difficult. Difficult because she had never revealed such a truth to anyone for many years. She trusted this man though. NOt because she had saved his life and would remind him of the debt he owed, for he owed them nothing. But because he had saved her when he did not have to.... and that meant a great deal to her. That made her want to help him in any way she could, even if it meant alleviating his confusion. Though, would it be too much to take in right now? Oh where was Haldir. He knew what would be best for Alistair, where as Maeve could only guess with logic.
Either way, she had to say something. You are in the Realm of Mabon, she began to explain to him. Words could not describe such a place; ones eyes would do it better justice. My home, she added, wanting him to know that. To remind him that he was safe, for she was here and would not let anything harmful befall him. I know you have many questions. But please, you must ease your mind. For you are still recovering and must not cause yourself further strain. Strain to his body or mind. She picked up a cloth nearby and dipped it into a bowel of water, squeezing out some of the liquid before she knelt once again by his bed side. She then proceeded to dab his forehead with it as she knew this would, or at least should, have a soothing effect. Just relax and take solace in the assurance that you are safe and sound. That he was alive....that he had been found just in time.
