Prince of Bauquemare | Army General .:Current Location of Residence:. Kingdom of Bauquemare .:History:.
It all happened fifeteen years prior to Caelum's birth. Bauquemare was in tormoil, a civil war breaking out against the king, Sevrin. As the rebel forces grew stronger, Bauquemare seemed destined to fall. To put an end to the chaos, Sevrin's own son, Prince Cyprian, murdered his father in front of the Royal Court. To the ears of all those that attended, the man predicted the fall of his son at the hands of his own first born child. As King Sevrin fell, Cyprian named himself the new ruler of Bauquemare, and brought the rebels under his control, ending the civil war within its borders. Now with the kingdom peaceful once more, Cyprian was free to rule as he wished. He preached a just government, but not all men can resist the temptation of power. Before the first year of his reign ended, King Cyprian became a tyrant.
Years later, one woman claimed that she could change Cyprian and melt his hardened heart. Trusting in Sevrin's grim prophecy, she courted the King, and less then three months later, became known as Queen Enota. Their first child was a boy, which Enota named in secret after the skies and heavens - Caelum. He was the heir to the throne, and the future man destined to kill Cyprian. The King, fearing this event would come true, ordered his men to take the newborn child and his wife to the Western Caves, a place on Bauquemare's borders that were said to hold the dragon Pathagoras. However, unknown to the King's knowledge, one of the men that he sent was loyal to Enota, a man that had fallen in love with her, Ratier.
Knowing that the other men wouldn't check the child til the last moment, Ratier took Caelum from Enota. With the Queen saying that her time had come, and bidding the true man she loved farewell, Enota wrapped up cloths in the basic shape of a child and held it close to her the whole way to the Western Caves while Ratier put Caelum in the trusting hands of an old woman outside of the capital. Refusing to enter the caves with the rest of the guards, feigning fear, Ratier watched as Enota entered before them. The roars of Pathagoras echoed through to him, along with the screams of the men. Yet none came from Enota. Knowing she was dead, Ratier fled back to the capital, picking up Caelum along the way.
Without the men to protest, Ratier told Cyprian that Caelum was born on the roads to the Western Caves, claiming that he was the second born child. Believing that he had averted his father's prophecy, Cyprian trusted Ratier and made him his advisor. When Caelum turned three was when King Uther of Camelot started the Great Purge, and Pathagoras was one of the Dragons that was wiped out, which allowed Ratier to search for any sign of Enota in the Western Caves. Much to his distress, but also what he had expected, there was none.
Caelum's raising was that of a normal Prince's. He was taught to fight almost as soon as he learned to walk, taught the ways of a warrior and the magic that he was entitled to learn as the Prince, while Ratier taught him the knowledge of their kingdom and the outside world. Without knowing his destiny, Caelum slowly began to see his father's deception and came to know his father as a tyrant. Having complete trust in Ratier, he asked the man of the cirumstances of his birth and of his mother. Believing the fifeteen year old boy ready to learn of such knowledge, Ratier told Caelum all of it. At first, Caelum didn't believe him, he even went two years without speaking of it again. Yet the knowledge gnawed at him until he was forced to accept the truth of it.
Keeping this from his father, Caelum earned his father's complete trust, taking on the guise of a prince that his father would be proud of, while secretly plotting behind his back. Within a few years, Cyprian named Caelum as the General of the army. And when he was eighteen, Cyprian had another child with one of the palace nobles - Angelet. Unknown to either of them until the girl was three, Angelet had a deadly disease, and while it was not catchable to those around her, it was a wonder that the girl still lived.
To this day, Caelum has his father's trust, and listens to his father's words of how a great man he is, and that those who stand against him - against them - are traitors. And behind the man's back, plans the fall of the King who brought the Kingdom Caelum cares for to near destruction...
