.:Name of Character:. Balin le Savage .:Nick Name:. Bale .:Age:. 19 .:Status:. Disinherited nobility [mostly secret]
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Standing a little under 6' tall, Balin is not the most intimidating when it comes to size. he is well fit and slightly muscled, but on the more agile side rather than brute upper body strength. his complexion is fair, but normally darkens during the summer months. His skin is also littered with a few scars from fights and occasional floggings he has recieved over the years. His hair is a bit long, but always seems as if it's as unruly as himself, never wanting to lie flat on his head. His eyes are a deep brown and expressive as his words. They are also the one way you can get a glimpse of his true heart behind his layers of masks. His clothes are also not as extravagant as the nobility and are worn, but well looked after. He also tends to wear an odd looking hat wherever he goes, rarely taking it off for any occasion.
.:Height:. 5'11" .:Portrayed by:. Andrew Lee Potts

.:Personality:. Trickster: The first thing you need to understand about him, is that Balin is smarter than the average gent on the street. In his early childhood, his father gave him tutors for all available subjects such as math, proper protocols and speech, swordplay, and war tactics. So ever since he was young, Balin has come to the conclusion that his mind was usually sharper than any sword, and especially after he was cast out, the lad often used it to his advantage. Mainly using it against his rivals or enemies, he loves the feeling of humiliating them without drawing blood without using too much effort on his part. He also tends to use it when in the presence of a young lady in attempts to either impress or have a little fun. Nothing is worthwhile unless there is some entertainment involved. It’s extremely rare to see him entirely serious.
Loyal: No matter how roguish he might look as far as having no loyalties toward anyone, remember this is a farce. In truth, to those who earn his respect, admiration, or love will not have a more trustworthy ally on their side. He would gladly give his life to a person he loves or a cause he believes in. However, only those who know him best, or that contains deep insight, will see through his ‘look out for number 1’ façade.
Outspoken: Whether to a king or to a pauper, Balin has no fear in speaking his mind, or at least speaking in general. It would take a lot to get him to shut up if there is something he feels adamant about a subject. He is a man who loves to argue and could for days on end if he had nothing better to do. His words are often filled with jibes and insults if he is addressing those that are either thickheaded, stubborn, or an enemy and playful jibes to those he cares about. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the different if you don’t pay attention to his tone. It’s when he is silent that you need to worry. It’s then when he is brooding or plotting some type of retaliation, or is extremely close to losing his temper.
Impetuous: In another word, rash. He might be very smart, but there are many times when his emotions get in his way and he impulsively acts without fully thinking it through. Not many know how to get him to this point, but it’s not impossible. Threatening a loved one, humiliating him, or daring him to do something are three easier ways to react by instinct or emotion rather than his wit. This is one of the reasons he gets in so much trouble most of the time.
Brave: Most of the time he pretends to be the opposite; self serving and a coward. However, deep down, there is very little that will cause him to run with fear or become weak in the heart. He only acts like a coward in hopes others will underestimate his true honor, so he can either surprise them later or use it against them. He also tries to deceive himself, for he has self loathing by not facing his father like he should have.
.:Strengths:. - slight of hand tricks - Stealing - Talking - Strategy - Street fighting - Minor swordplay
.:Weaknesses:. - pretty face - His good heart - Claustrophobic - Self-loathing - Sweets - Not the strongest man around - Alcoholic
.:Magic Abilities:. NA .:Special Skills:. - Stealing - Stealth - Cooking - Negotiating
.:Accents:. His accents change depending on who he is with or the character he is trying to be. He can speak as well as any noble, or sound as if he was raised in the gutter. Most tend to hear the second version because he wants his birthright to remain secret.

.:Birthplace:. Northumberland .:Family:. - Duke of Northumberland [deceased] - Duchess of Northumberland - Lord Draven, second Duke of Nothumberland
.:Occupation:. Servant, Thief [possibly a knight in the future] .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot
.:History:. Born in the most norther part of Briton, Balin was the first and only son to the Duke of Northumbria. The first few years of his life were privileged and content as most noble children were, his days full of horseback riding, tutors, jousting, and banquets. In his free time, he would teach himself some tricks of the hand like he had seen from some performers of the day, however doing his best to keep this a secret. Even though this wasn't magic in the strictest since, more often than not it seemed as such. Little did he know, it was this hobby that would bring his downfall after his father's death.
When he was 12, his father was brutally injured in a skirmish against a rival house. Though he was the Duke's only heir, his father had a younger brother that took the title for the sake of Balin's youth. His uncle being an ambitious fellow, as well as selfish, he wanted to assure the title would not be taken. At the time, Balin was the only threat and his Uncle, a trickster in his own right, persuaded the others that Balin was a magician and traitor to the family. It was so expertly planned that even his mother fell victim into believing the false accusations.
Not having any choice, or the power to best his accuser by the sword, Balin escaped during the night and headed south. In his journeys he worked nearly every job that a man could get on the wrong side of life, including using his slight of hand as a thief. Seven years have passed and so far his purpose in life remains unknown. Though he likes the freedom of it, a thief's work was not what he'd imagined to be his career. Deep down he knows he was here for something bigger. What better place to find it than Camelot?
