Nicholas isn't ill-tempered by nature, but job stress can affect his mood at times. He does his best to get along with the staff and the workers under him. He isn't an unfriendly man, but it's best not to anger him if it's been one of those long,hard days, which aren't uncommon when dealing with Uther. He's somehow able to manage the task of running the castle for Uther, but it can take a lot of doing, and it's overwhelming at times, particularly since he's still adjusting to the job.
He does have some of the usual noble air about him, but he isn't one of those particularly arrogant, stuck-up nobles either. He feels a sense of wanting to show that he can do the job he's been given, and sometimes he can get a bit nervous. He would enjoy it if Uther showed approval, but he knows the king is stern with everyone, and he's just glad he can get along well enough with Uther not to be the one angering him-Uther's often already tense and annoyed from whatever he's been doing himself.
Strengths
Good at keeping a level head, even when Uther's yelling about something
Resourceful-While he doesn't attempt any real advising, he often comes up with good ideas for day to day stuff
Good at keeping organized and whatever passed for multitasking back then-he has a lot on his plate with his job, but he's able to find ways to get things done.

Does sometimes keep to himself, job pressure can make it hard to have a lot of social time
Opinionated-he has definate feelings about the king, and has to work to keep out of trouble
Stubborn-doesn't always like to accept help, doesn't give up easily, which can be either good or bad, really.
The stress often shows, and he can snap easy if he's had a hard day.

Nicholas's family was from Uther's birth kingdom in Dunmonia, a kingdom in southwest England. They were nobles in the court of Uther's father, and Nick's father,Edmund was one of Uther's men during the conquest of Camelot. After the war, the rest of the family came to Camelot as well, and Edmund later was appointed Uther's first Lord Chamberlain.

Nicholas had the type of childhood common to nobles,training with another lord, getting fairly well educated,becoming a knight, and serving with Camelot's forces for a while. He recieved his own lord status after the death of his father, and has now been made Lord Chamberlain himself.
