Arthur's agitation did not decline in the least. He was actually more annoyed when Gwen left. Not because she was gone, but because he was bored and tired, and the only difference between her father's shop and his cell was that there were no bars and the shop was bigger. Other than that . . . he felt the same imprisonment. He was confined to this area for HOURS, and all because he wanted to help someone. Curse this entire thing. He was going to find out where that sorcerer woman went, hunt her down, and kill her!
His thoughts of vengeance continued to formulate in his mind as he wandered around, looking at the area. It was a good sized shop, with various random weapons and tools, neatly put in their place but still visible. He did not touch them, not wanting to knock anything over. This was ridiculous! He gulped down the water, and put the cup on the side, nearly knocking it over when he heard the door open. He quickly ran to hide behind the table, when he heard -- and saw -- that it was just Gwen. She was out of breath, but that was not his first question. "What happened?" He asked, wondering what took so long. Had someone caught her? Was she running from the guards? What if they were going to charge in any minute. He stayed behind the table, ready to duck in case such scenarios actually played out.

Aww, he cared! She gave a smile up at him, "Forgive me, sire, but I had to make it appear as if it was normal for all this to happen. No one sells bread at this time of night so I had to go tot he castle's kitchens. There they would only give break to Merlin the boy who saved the prince. So I had to take him some to make it appear as if I was really doing it, then come all the way back here hoping guards would not see me and wonder why I am sneaking food from the castle." She keep on talking and talking glad he seemed to care.
"It's not allot, because I had to split with Merlin, but at lest it's something to keep you from being hungry until you sneak back in. I did make sure to take note of--" And talking "--if they were already starting to work on your meal, sire, and i noticed that they were not yet preparing it. So you have at lest four hours, if not more before anyone goes to check on you." And going, "There were however, preparing the kings." . . . . "Unless you meeting for your meal, then you only have two."

Sadly, Arthur did not care for the reasons Gwen thought. He listened to her give more detail than necessary . . . actually, it was very necessary to hear everything, but Arthur's fowl mood made him impatient and easily annoyed. So they weren't even making him a meal?! Ridiculous. His father hadn't said anything about dining with him, so he assumed that the King would first eat, and then release him from the dungeon. If not . . . Arthur would have to do this whole thing over again tomorrow, cause there was absolutely no way he was spending half the night in the dungeon again. "I'm not meeting him for his meal, so it will be after that sometime." He would have to stay in this hell hole for at least 2 more hours . . . wonderful. "So you are certain no one caught you, followed you, or seemed the least bit suspicious?" He asked, just to be entirely certain. One could never be too careful when . . . on the run.
He took the bread from her, not even thanking her for it. He began to break off small pieces, eating them. "How is Merlin doing this morning?" He asked, genuinely concerned, even if it was not totally evident in his tone. Even though he had already asked her, she had just come from seeing him, so he wondered if his state had improved at all from when she last saw him. Arthur would feel better if he could see him for himself.

"Oh, no. I am sure. I made sure that no one suspected. I just told anyone who was there that I was going home to get some things done before Lady Morgana needed be fore the day. I made sure that I was over heard, so everyone knows." She told him seemingly very proud of her skills of hiding things from others.
"He was sleeping mostly, when I arrived." She told him, "He seemed weak but growing stronger. We are going to make him eat some food and that will help him. I did leave him some of the bread that I was bringing you, that would help him." Gwen told him, sort of ramabaling on. "Are you going to be able to visit him?"

. . . Really? Really?! She had just made it a point to tell everyone exactly where she was going?! They probably didn't care! Did they even ask? "Did they ask you where you were going, or did you just offer that bit of information?" Maybe Guinevère wasn't a good liar . . . he didn't know her that well; he wasn't sure how discreet she could be. Then again, she did a rather excellent job of getting the flower from him. So there was hope after all . . . but still! What if people were suspicious with her formal announcement of saying she was going home?! He could not afford to be found!
"Good," Arthur said, feeling more relieved than what was evident in his voice when hearing about Merlin's condition. He would let him rest today, and then get him back to work tomorrow. Hopefully, all the poison would be out of his system by then. "I will go later, once I've met with the King. Then I will see how he is first hand." He fully intended to, and only regretted not being able to see Merlin sooner.

"No," she said slowly seeming to understand what she had done, "No one asked. They just said hello." When she had taken the plate to Arthur she had told them what she was doing as well. 'Plate of food for the prince' she had told them as if they could not guess what she was there for.
"That will cheer up Merlin, being weak can not be fun." She told him trying not to let them dwell on her mistakes. She wondered if she should distract him from thinking over her laps in skills. "How did you escape from the dungeons?" She asked, not really wanting to know the answer but wondering still.

OH NO! What if someone was suspicious enough to follow her?! This made him concerned! "And you are absolutely sure that no one followed you here?" He went towards the door, opening it the slightest bit so that he could peek out to see if anyone was lurking out there. "Subtle," he mumbled to himself, now more paranoid then ever. He was only half listening to her comment about Merlin and then her question. He kept peering outside, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.
"I think its best you not know how I escaped. The less information you know, the more genuine your denial will be if you are ever asked about this." Then, it occurred to him that he may be endangering her life. Morgana would never forgive him. "Not that anyone would, so you do not have to concern yourself with that." He knew he just completely contradicted himself, but he did not care. He had bigger things to worry about!

Guinevère watch him look out. She knew, that he knew she'd made a mistake. "I am sorry, sire, I am not very good at this." She admitted, "Yet I have done it twice this so far." The first time was when she went to get the flower from him. That time had worked out better then this time. "Have I risked you getting caught?"
"I can help you find something to wear." she offered, "a cloak or some armor that is not in use right now. It would let you not have to worry about getting caught." There! Maybe that would redeem her in his eyes! she was helping! Not risking his freedom. She didn't know what the king would do if he knew his son was out and about. The king was harsh and cold at times, and while everyone knew he loved his son, he was hard on him.

YES she had! "No you haven't. I'll just keep a close eye to make sure no one followed." He knew he could not blame her for this. It was him who was putting her at risk, rather than the other way around. He only had to check for a few more minutes anyway. If someone had followed her, they would have been here by now. There would have been no need to sneak around and wait for him to leave. The Knights of Camelot did not waste their time like that.
Hmmm, that wasn't a bad idea. "Do you have a long cloak? Armor would draw too much attention, and make it easier to recognize me." Since he wore armor rather often when on the streets. He wanted to conceal himself as much as possible. Wait, would she have to go out again, and therefore, say the same thing to people which would already raise their suspicions even more?! Was it worth it? "Would you have to leave to get the cloak?" He asked, waiting for his answer before he decided if it would be worth it.

"My father does." Guinevère told him, and went to a small chest in the back of the room while she spoke, "He is a very tall man, and the cloak is a bit large on him so it would cover you completely." She pulled out a large gray colored one and held it up as best as she could. There was allot of fabric to it. Her father was a large man from working with iron everyday, all day. He needed allot to comfortably cover him from the chill.
"Will this suit you?" She asked, watching him. Bringing it over to where he was by the door she held it out for him. She loved her father and hoped that the prince would not take it and forget to return it to him. They did not have allot of money, and this was a very nice cloak. "It's his only one." She added, so he might get a clue.

Arthur did not get the clue. He completely took it for granted, as he was used to more elaborate clothing and this cloak was so . . . bland. Then again, thats exactly what he needed to blend in as a commoner! He took the cloak, inspecting it, with a hint of a look of disapproval. Oh well. It would have to do. Beggars could not be choosers. "It'll do," he said, putting it over himself. It felt . . . unsanitary to wear the same clothing as another man. Arthur was very used to having his own wardrobe and therefore, things being comfortable and fitted nicely. He was practically swimming in this cloak.
"What time does your father usually come to his shop?" He asked, suddenly realizing that they may have to find a new place if he was going to be stuck here for hours. Even though it was the middle of the night, he did not know how much her father worked, or how early he started his day. At least now he had a cloak which would give him some concealment if he did have to move around the city.

Guinevère did not like the look of disapproval on his face. She felt offended for her father, so when Arthur gave the short I'll Do, her face showed her anger for a moment before she pulled it back. He was her prince and she knew better then to speak up to him but she wished she could, or was brave like Merlin and could do it. Merlin would have known what to do.
"I am not sure of my father's plans but his apprentice, Gawain, should be arriving with in the hour, I believe." She did not know for sure, as the days of her spending every free moment in her father's show where over. "Oh!" She said catching on, "You want to avoid others. Perhaps, sire, you should go to the market. I could walk with you so you would not need to speak to others but this early there will not be but a few farmers about to open. You could get more then bread to eat and remain out of sight with the hood low."

Arthur did not notice her brief moment of anger. He took the cloak and put it on. Wait . . . his apprentice?! Well this just got better and better. He wanted to be laying low by staying in here, and now the only way to keep a low profile seemed to be wandering the streets of Camelot. He thought for a moment, before deciding that it was better to risk it than have to rely on the trust of another citizen. He did not know this . . . Gawain person. What if he went around and told everyone?!
"Very well," he said in an annoyed tone as he lifted the hood over his head. It covered him just enough to avoid making a clear identification, but not too much to arouse suspicion. "We better get going then, before he shows up," he told her, already opening the door. He did so very slowly though, making sure the coast. He turned to her, and opened the door a bit more. "Maybe you should step outside first," he said to her. She could get more of a view to survey the area . . . since she was not the one who was trying to hide. Well, not as much as him.

Guinevère gave a small bob of a bow and then walked to the door. She knew had she been Morgana, Arthur would have said ladies first but as she was a servant she was expected to go after him. Not that she minded, going first made her worried she could lead him into getting caught. Walking out the door she paused and looked around casually, there was one of the guards walking by. He looked at her standing by the door and keep watching her. "Gawain, come walk me to the market."
She spoke, and looked back hoping that Arthur would understand what she wanted--was trying to do for him--and silently come on out. Once they walked away from the guard they would be in the clear. He could only be out here so he could keep an eye on things since she had cried thief a moment ago. Helpful they may be, she wished they were not so now.

So Arthur would have to be Gawain now would be. Wonderful. He stepped outside casually, trying not to look at the guard. A look of suspicion or anything would alert the guard and make him start questioning him. He recognized the man who was looking at him, and only hoped he would not return the favor. Arthur began to walk alongside Guinevère, trying not to appear of being in too much of a hurry . . . even though he was. He was trying to look as casual as possible. He also stayed alongside Gwen, so that it did not look like he was trying to get away from her. At this time of the day, any erratic behavior would be considered suspicious . . . Arthur trained his men far too well.
"Come, we'll take a shortcut," he said, leaning in closer to her and speaking in a very low voice. He did not like the way the guard was watching them, and so planned to taking a shortcut through the back alley and more abandoned part of the city.

Guinevère tired to walk behind him at first but then when he walked beside her, she stopped trying. Right, right. He was not a prince but her father's worker. Guinevère did not want to the guard to wonder where they were going or what they were up to so she looked over at him, gave him a smile and casual wave before speaking to him, "We are off tot he market!" She told him before turning and going with the prince.
Short cuts were dangerous at times, but she knew she was safe with the prince. Even if she was only a servant he would not let harm befall her. That was when she realized she had more faith in him then she had known she had. She was willing to put her life in his hands, because she knew he would be honorable when it came to it.

Arthur rolled his eyes when formally announced that they were going to the market. The guard didn't care! But he might if it seemed suspicious . . . if Arthur had been in the knight's position, he would have thought it was suspicious! The Prince lowered his head more when Guinevère decided to share this information with the guard. He tried not to quicken his pace, that would just make it look more strange. He was forcing himself to keep his gaze at the ground and not at the guard. It was difficult but he managed.
When they were heading closer to the more abandoned back streets, he spoke, still keeping his voice low in case there was anyone lurking about. "I really need to teach you a thing or two about subtlety."

Guinevère looked up at him in confusion for a moment before she realized that telling the knight that had only drawn attention to them. "Oh! I am sorry, sire." she whispered, "I did not want him wondering what we were doing. I thought if I told him he would not wonder and we could go on our way." She looked back to see where they were going rather then looking up at him, feeling rather ashamed.
"I am not used to lieing to the law. You might be, but I have never had the need!" She walked along beside him trying to think of what else to say. They were walking down darken ally ways int he lower towns, she knew the dangers of that but said nothing. She soon regretted it when a dark shadow blocked their path. Guinevère left out a small gasp, and started to back away. She knew what would happen if they went closer. "Gawain, lets go back."

Arthur did not comment on her apology. He knew she had not meant to draw attention to them, so he was not angry and his frustration was starting to decline, just a bit. "Its alright Guinevère," he assured her. So much for his irritation starting to alleviate, for he foresaw a situation that was not going to end well. When a dark figure blocked them, he would have just kept moving forward . . . had Guinevère not been with him. And had he not been trying to conceal his identity. He did not want his face to be recognize and so when she said that they should turn back, he knew it was for the best. At least she used the name Gawain . . . that showed that she was still thinking clearly enough to continue this farce.
He began to turn around, when another man stood in their way. Now, they were stuck, because the alley to begin with was not that wide. He stepped closer to Guinevère. "Stay close," he said in a low voice. He would have pushed her behind him, but considering there was a man behind them as well, it would not have done much good. Instead he stayed close to her side, keeping a close eye on both the man in front and behind them. "You best let us pass gentlemen," he told them boldly, trying to make his voice deeper and more quiet than usual so that it would mask what could be easily recognized as the Prince's voice.

Stay close, he told her but Guinevère was already inching closer to him. She should have known better then to come this way. When he said let's take a short cut she should have protested. Warned him it was not safe at this time. She watched the the men come a few steps closer, before stopping. She knew they wanted whatever coins they carried. She carried none, knowing better then to do so when she was not going to the market for her.
She only hoped the prince was just as wise, not to walk darken streets with large amounts of coins and just ask for trouble to come his way. 'Come now, blacksmith, hands us your gold' one of the men demanded while pulling a long dagger.
