This was ridiculous! Of all nights for this to happen! Arthur was in no mood to deal with petty thieves. What choice did he have? He could not call the guards here . . . they would then see his true identity. He could not flee the moment the guards got here, for that would arouse suspicion and start a chase he did not want to engage in. And he could not leave even before they showed up, as it would be leaving Guinevère in danger and even the Prince was not that ignorant of a servant's safety. His tone became more irritated when the man demanded that he hand over his coins. He did not have any. He just escaped from the dungeon!
"We have none. Now let us pass." Arthur would have tried to squeeze his way through him, but when the man pulled out a small dagger, Arthur would not take that risk. Not with Guinevère here. He did not display any fear though. He thought the weapon was pathetic; this whole situation was pathetic. Instead of showing fear or cowardice, he rolled his eyes, even though the 'the thieves' could not see him do so. They repeated the same question. Arthur told them the same thing, to let them through. And that was when they reacted more violently than Arthur had the patience for.
The one behind them grabbed Guinevère and Arthur had not reacted quickly enough, though he still tried to remain calm. The more fear one showed, the more it would encourage such a crime to continue. Then again, he didn't want his arrogance to be the reason she ended up dead. He would have to think of a quick plan, already forming one in his mind.

When one of the men grabbed her, Guinevère let out a gasp and started to struggle. "I am Lady Morgana's personal maid! There are guards back there who know we came this way. If I scream they will come!" She told them in a voice that was almost more Morgana's then Guinevère's. Even still it held some fear it, and that was easy to hear as well. Guinevère would never be as bold as her mistress.
She watched the men as they seemed to think she was amusing, and one maybe seemed to consider her words. Weighing which one he wanted to do, door A of making some money or door B was getting out with out a week in the stocks. When people found out you were a theif they tended to do more the hit you with fruit.

Arthur wondered -- and hoped -- that that was an empty threat. She wouldn't actually call the guards, would she? No . . . maybe? He didn't know Guinevère that well, but so far, she had been helping him. He doubted she would drastically change her mind . . . or maybe she would now that her life was threatened. Arthur could not allow them to carry on with this. Not to mention the strong over protectiveness he felt for women; it was a knight thing. Saving the damsel in distress.
He still hoped the guards had not heard her threaten them . . . it would not be the first time she drew their attention, only this time it was a more legitimate reason. Arthur had to quickly think of a way to deal with this situation! He looked at man holding Gwen, and then the man in front of him. "Look, you had better leave. We don't want any trouble." While Arthur was talking to distract the men, he grabbed the wrist of the one in front of him who was holding the knife. He grabbed that hand and twisted it around so that Arthur was standing behind him, pulling his arm in a very tight twist, forcing the thief to cringe in pain, and making the knife fall out of his hand and near Gwen's feet. He looked at it, and looked at her, hoping she picked it up quickly before the man behind her did! He was dealing with one moron at a time.

The knife feel at her feet and the prince looked at her as if he was expecting . . . . . Guinevère looked at him for a moment wondering what he wanted her to do, but then the man behind her, reached down and around her to get the knife. Since he was slightly unbalanced in that bent over pose she gave him a push and as he fell over reached down for the knife. She held it gingerly for a moment before turning it in her hand to he held like a knife should be. She was a blacksmith's daughter. It was not that she did not know how knives worked; it was only she did not like the knowing.
She wasn't sure what the prince expected of her now. She looked up at him before turning to hold the knife over the fallen man she just pushed. She said nothing while waiting for the princes' orders. He man glared up at her, but was wise enough to not lunge for her.

Good! They now had a hold on both men. Now would be their opportunity to make a quick get away before they attracted any more attention. Arthur watched Gwen hold the knife, and then tightened his grasp on the man he had been twisting the arm of. "I should call the authorities to throw you in the dungeon," he said in more of an annoyed voice than an angry one. With one word, Arthur could have them thrown in for months! But they were lucky he was trying to hide from the public. "Instead, I will just do this." He turned man forward just long enough to punch him extremely hard across the face. He had done it with just enough pressure and force to render the man unconscious.
Then, he looked towards the other who was looking up at him, a bit fearful. "Give me the knife," he said to Guinevère in a low voice, allowing the cloak to continue to conceal his true identity. With the handle of it, he hit the man very hard over the head, leading to the same outcome: an unconscious state. Rather satisfied with himself, he looked both ways to make sure no one had seen this. He would make sure these men went to the stocks tomorrow. "Come, we must hurry before anyone notices."
