Guinevère left Percival and Arthur and went to seek out Gaius, hoping that everything wound find a way to work out. She had to have faith and hope right now, or she was afraid that everything would come crashing down on her. She was gone and turning down the halls as Arthur joined Percival and started the other way. She did not see nor hear Percival follow Arthur and reply to his question.
"I believe only your self, Sire, but once we are done here I can find some of the citizens and workers in the castle that we ran past. Surely one of them would have a gotten a clear view of his face. I think he even knocked one over." He told him as he followed easily behind the prince, not even having to hurry to keep up with him thanks to his long strides. "Some of the knights followed him into the woods on horse back. They will catch him." Percival had not been on horse back so he had not followed. Instead he'd stayed behind to help make sure no one else got in and to make sure he wasn't alone.

Only him. Well that wasn't helpful at all. Hopefully the others would have better luck. At least from the sounds of it, no one else was injured. Other than him and his mental capabilities. But if the people of Camelot were for the most part safe, that was always reassuring. The last thing they needed was another full frontal attack. Though, with the reasons of this spell . . . Arthur was fearing the worst. If they were going to attack then it would be soon, before he had time to figure out all that he missed; before he regained his strength. When hearing that some of the knights went after him, Arthur grew even more concerned. Which ones had gone? He knew he would have to ask this in a polite way, as if not to reveal that he trusted other men more than the new additions to the army. But he could not help it for right now.
"Which knights went after him?" Arthur asked, wanting to know which men could be entering a potential dangerous situation. Which men would not be accounted for and which ones he needed to make sure were all alright upon their return. How well have the others gotten to know the new knights? Did they even accept them, despite Arthur's decision to knight them? Had he not felt so much anger towards his father, then he would have been concerned over what his father thought about this too. He had a feeling he would get a feel of it fairly soon, especially if his memory did not return any time soon. It would be reliving either the disapproval of his actions, or the admiration of them. Guinevère seemed to be in full support of what he had done. Apart from the fact that her brother had been among these men, she still seemed very encouraging of him having had done such a thing. Would it be safe to assume that she represented the general population?

Percival kept following his king, as they talked. "I am not sure, I was not there when they gave chase. Leon might be among them, but I could not say for sure." Percival's tone suggested he wasn't even sure about allot right now. Percival had not expected to encounter these events and had come for orders, and found only questions. "What would be the purpose of making your forget three years? It seems a random sport of time. Would it not have been stronger to just ease everything?" He questioned, unable to stop him self.
Guinevère had arrived at Gaius's safely and was relaying everything to him. Merlin had either yet to return or was delayed by something it seemed. She wished he'd hurry but Gaius assured her that Merlin would get here with the herbs--not un needed--soon. When Gaius took to his books, Guinevère began wondering if she should have warned Percival not to say cretin things about certain girls.

Arthur hoped Leon was among them. He was his second in command, and he trusted that man with his life. He knew he should feel the same towards the others, but right now, they were merely a demonstration of unimaginable acts that he had done which would forever change the face of Camelot. At the same time, he was not strongly enough against it to regret what he had done. The way Guinevère had explained his reasoning . . . it seemed justified. Time would tell just how good of a decision this would come to be. He was distracted from his thoughts when Percival asked a question. A very valid question and Arthur could only speculate based on the advantages that would come from making him forget his memory. He did not however want to go into too much detail about the man he was before and who had he become now. He rarely spoke about such personal things with . . . well, with strangers. "A great deal has happened in these past three years," he began to say. He had learned an abundance of strengths and weaknesses; he had been put the test so very much. He had lost a sister; gained a love. Lost the trust of a father; yet gained the trust of so many others. He had lost a king; a taken the role himself.
These past three years had sounded to be the most pivotal in his life. "To erase them from my mind, would weaken any man." Meaning, it was meant to weaken him, but he did not like admitting any sort of weakness that he had. It was a pride thing of course, but he had supposedly learned a great deal of humility in the past few years as well. He was trying to generalize it a bit, though he knew that he was the specific target in this particular attack of magic. "To weaken the king, and to have the other king in an already impaired state, leaves the kingdom vulnerable, under potentially poor leadership and open for attack." Him being the current king -- an idea that was still difficult to adjust to -- and his father being the other who was not in a good state at all. This was Arthur's best guess. It always came down to overthrowing the Pendragon family and either destroying the entire kingdom, or taking control of it so they could rule it under their own reign.

"Why weaken a king when you could just kill him? He asked trying to help figure out the plan that the magical shifty man was part of. "Even I remember your name from years before just three. There has to be something they did not want you to remember, but wanted you yourself enough that you were aware of what was happening." He told him proving that he wasn't the dumb brute that he might appear. His voice still held a formal and slightly hesitant distance, but he was helping.
"Could it be the lady Morgana?" He didn't know how much Arthur knew but it would be a good guess to start with. "I ummm . . . i know no one speaks of such things right now, but she did want you dead. Maybe she wanted to do it her self? Or it could be someone new, or that you've meet in the three years and they did not wish you to know that you have."
"We should not tell anyone of this. If it's meant to open us for attack then we should let everything appear as if nothing has happen. Make him think he has failed." Be ready for when he tried again.

Arthur was not about to discuss Morgana with him. He may have only known her as an enemy, but she had been a sister to Arthur -- in spirit before discovering the blood relation between them. Even if Percival did acknowledge that he should not talk of such things, Arthur was not going to appease it and act as if he was alright in talking about such things with . . . a stranger. A man he did not know, no matter how close they may have become in recent weeks. "There must be more to it," Arthur said, keeping a strong formality to his voice; suppressing the emotions that merely hearing Morgana's name brought up in him. "Whoever this is, must have a personal vendetta against the kingdom." Or him. Not remembering his recent past, was torture for Arthur though he would never admit just how painful it was. People could assume, but it was without a doubt one of the greatest forms of torture. He felt like he had lost so much even if he did not remember gaining anything.
Percival was right; the sorcerer could have left him alive for a number of reasons, but hopefully, everything would be fixed before they would have to find out the true nature of why he had done so. It was true that Arthur did not wish to broadcast his condition for all to know. Panic would set in as the people may fear they had a ruler who was not fit to rule. Despite what Guinevère said about him having the unwavering support of his friends and others, it was still not enough to ensure the safety of an entire kingdom. They had saved it from . . . Morgana's rule, but that did not mean that it could happen quite so conveniently all over again. "I trust in your discretion. That you will not tell anyone of this." Again, Arthur had to make sure of this, only assuming that the man would understand his reason for not being so automatically trust of him. "Only a handful of people will know. Besides Guinevère, Gaius Merlin, and yourself, it will most likely only be the other recent knights." Maybe his father. And of course the woman that he loved; the woman who still did not have a name, nor a face. But to list the names would show who would most definitely know. Everyone else who had not been named, Percival should avoid telling.

"My loyalty is to you and yours, sire, I will not tell a soul." To King Arthur and his one day queen, and even in part to his father whom Percival would fight and die for but not serve. He'd come here to fight for Arthur Pendragon, not Uther. "Just down that hall, was where you were when you gave the warning call."
It was bare and open now, "We followed chase but we had been falling back, planning to end our day one way or another." Taverns or in their beds was were they were all headed. "I do not know the castle well, but he seemed to be headed to the less used areas, avoiding people were he could. It wasn't until we arrived at the lower halls that you broke off from us." To go find Guinevère.

There was a strong sincerity in his voice that Arthur could not ignore. When he told him that he would not tell another, he believed him. And all he could do, was hope that it was not too naive of him to do so. He had only known Percival for a few weeks, maybe he could get to know him again in a matter of a few hours, or days if it came to that. He continued to look forward, narrowing his focus to where Percival explained that he had been when he first gave the warning call. Arthur made his way down the hall, stopping in the middle of it and looked around pensively, as if trying to establish the route of his escape. It didn't make sense. If the others had been the one pursuing him, and he only broke off to find Guinevère, then how had the sorcerer found him and managed to cast a spell on him? Unless of course he used more magic to track him down? It was just so very odd that he evaded all these knights, and found Arthur when he had been looking for Guinevère. Which, in itself seemed to random.
"Did I give any indication as to why I was going to check on her, why I felt that her life was endangered?" Not to sound too rude of course, but Arthur wondered why her safety had been top priority. Had he given a reason why it was more important for him to check on Gwen -- of all people -- than to follow the intruder? Besides, with an intruder in the castle wouldn't there have been more prime targets and people to be concerned about? Like his father, or the woman he loved even. What gave him the impression that Guinevère's life was in danger for the sorcerer would have had to have done something to give him the idea. As close of friends as Arthur and Guinevère supposedly were . . . why had she taken top priority when it was more logical to target others in the castle?

"Other then they were in the general area, no. Not that I saw." He looked a bit confused at the question but answered it anyway. "Though if you'd but given the order any one of us would have gone for her and made sure she was safe. Elyan might have wanted to follow you but he knew his duty, and knew you'd let no harm come to her."
The question wasn't too odd Percival decided, thinking it could be just the king trying to decide of the man had been aiming for Guinevère or just happened to be near her. "If you got put under this spell while going to her, you might have known something we did not. She is a reasonable target. Unlike the knights, she has no training. Even Merlin seemed to do alright with a sword when push came to shove. Your father is guarded at all times, leaving her the unprotected one."

It still did not make sense to Arthur. Surely a sorcerer capable of creating a spell that would make him lose his memory, and who had somehow managed to get through all the guards and tight security entering the castle . . . could handle a few guards at his father's door. And someone like Merlin. Why her? Why Guinevère? Why not the other woman even for everyone knew that a man's greatest weakness was the woman he loved. Yet he had concerned himself with checking on her first? He wondered if even Percival would understand Arthur's own logic at this, though he seemed to be rather accepting of the idea, finding no problem in it. Unlike Arthur, who could not understand what motivated his actions. "I don't understand," Arthur stated bluntly, shaking his head a bit.
"There are far more unprotected people of significance," Like the woman that he had been told that his heart belonged to. "He is clearly one with strong abilities, enough to handle guards at the king's door." Oh wait that's right! He was king! Damn it! That was going to take some getting used to. "There must have been some reason I felt the need to check on Guinevère above all others." He could not be certain that Percival had the answer to this, but maybe he had some sort of vague idea or suggestion. It would be more than what Arthur currently had, which was nothing. "Show me the route in which you chased him." It was obviously not the entirely correct one if Arthur had been the one to encounter him, but who knows. If he had knocked someone down, maybe he had dropped something in such a state of panic to get out of the castle.

Percival gave him a highly confused look at his words and just stared at him for a moment. It was clear by the look on his face that he did not understand Arthur's words. That whatever Arthur had just said name no logical since what so ever with Percival. "What good would seeking out your father do, Sire? He's weak and bed ridden for a now. You've taken the crown. There is no reason to try to get to him."
Percival turned down the halls and started showing the way, "We lost him before you broke off with us. This is the way I went but there was no sign of him. The others could not find any signs of him either. He clearly knew the castle well. Better then the four of us." Which was how he'd gotten away. Arthur would have stood a better chance at catching him, since he knew this whole castle but he had to protect Guinevère first and foremost. Percival expected no less.

It was like talking in circles. Arthur did not understand why he went after Guinevère when there were better targets; and Percival did not seem to understand the point of him inquiring about it. "I am talking about who was my priority to protect. And it does not make sense that it was Guinevère." Arthur was not sure he could state it more bluntly than that. He took it as a clue though; that something must have come up which compelled him to protect her instead of check on the others. Arthur needed to speak to someone else, but, Guinevère's word to give the man a chance rung in his head and he knew he could not be so quick to dismiss him. So instead of seeking out another, he followed Percival, looking around for anything that the sorcerer may have left behind.
There was nothing so far though. It shouldn't have surprised Arthur that he had been so meticulous but it was the only hope that somehow they would magically find something that would give them a clue as to what his full intentions were here today. "You said there was a witness, that he knocked someone down. Where is this person now?" Had they fully questioned them? Gotten all the details they could? Percival did not seem to have been one of the interrogators for the best explanation he received from him was shifty. But maybe the person could provide a good description. Maybe Arthur knew him. Maybe he would have a better idea of who to look for. It was his only hope right now; that, and Gaius who was hopefully working on a remedy as they spoke.

Percival gave his a look at was both confused and disapproving. It was clear that Arthur's comments were not winning him favors with the knight. "You have truly forgotten everything. Guinevère is dear to us all, and you've always wanted nothing but the highest protection for her. After we defected the lady Morgana and took back the kingdom, you sent all five us to escort her back here."
"I will fetch him for you." Percival turned and walked away quickly, wanting to get the job done with all haste. It took longer then anticipated but he soon found the man, and even two other witness who could vaguely describe the man. Hurrying to lead them back to Arthur in the lower halls, Percival hoped that Arthur would be pleased with his quick work.

Arthur did not miss the disapproval in Percival's expression and somewhat, his tone even. Great. Just bloody great. A man who he barley even knew was already disapproving of him and they had barley had one full conversation! He said nothing, but rather watched the knight hurry off. Arthur decided that for the time being, it was going to be better to surround himself with familiarity, yet it seemed that these were the men that he should get to know best. Percival. Gwaine. Elyan. Even Lancelot. All had apparently aided him in winning back the kingdom so in that sense he supposed he was grateful . . . no. He most definitely was grateful. Yet to be grateful for something that one did not even remember tended to trivialize the emotion, even if he did not wish it were so.
When he returned, along with him was a man and two others, probably those who had seen him as well. As they approached him, they bowed their heads out of respect, throwing out the respectful title of Sire while doing so. He was after all king now; even if that feeling was rather unsettling. "Tell me, from what you saw, what did the man look like?" He asked, holding a formal tone, but lacking in the sternness of it. He could not afford to have the people turn in him because in his frustrations, he lashed out. He would remain far more composed than that. He hoped that together, they could all form a basic picture of his appearance instead of contradicting answers which would only prove that neither of them got a good look of him at all.

Percival stood back and watched as Arthur question the castle workers he had just rounded up for him. They were hesitant around him but around Arthur they were formal and trying to be as helpful as they could while telling the sights they had saw. The man seemed to be elder and he been around the castle before. Percival had not been around nobles and their personal men long enough to know them all by name but he did know that with any luck, Arthur might.
Which was why he did not interrupt them as they told their stories. The one man who had been knocked over, even offered up some details like his face and his higher pitched tones. They did well of describing the man, however and that gave them hope. "If he knew the castle well, then he has been here before." The agreed, but could not place the face among any recent visitors. "Merlin or Guinevère might be able to help put a face to name if they were given this information?" They both had been around for three years.

Arthur listened carefully to all the information that they had to offer. The image that was forming in his mind was not a familiar one, but of course, it could have been anyone throughout the past three years. The sorcerer had that to his advantage. "Yes, either he has been here before or he knows someone who has." Either way, the man was all too familiar with the castle layout and this continued to be cause for concern. He remained pensive for a few moments before addressing the witnesses once again. "Thank you for all your help," he said, speaking with genuine gratitude. "Sir Percival, please escort them back to their homes." Arthur was going to follow the suggestion of seeing if Merlin, Guinevère or even Gaius knew anything about the man described to him. "I'll let you know if I need you again," he added, unsure if he would but saying that he would seek him out if need be . . . which he would probably end up doing at some point.
Now with a physical description, he had to try to put a name to the face. He walked down the hallways, on his way to the physician's quarters to see if they knew anything about this mysterious sorcerer, and to see what progress was being made on the remedy -- if any. It would be a bit of a relief to see Merlin actually, for his friendship with him was something that had remained a constant. Something that was not unfamiliar to him. Even if it had only grown stronger throughout the years, he remembered the start of it and that was something. But in the hallway on to the way to his quarters, he instead saw Guinevère, walking in the opposite direction of him. He stopped in front of her, figuring this would be a time saver since there was no guarantee that Merlin was even in there. Who knew where that idiot ran off to at times. "Guinevère," he acknowledged. "Have you seen Merlin?" He asked curiously.

Guinevère had left Gaius knowing that she could offer no help and asking him very three seconds if he found anything yet would only harm the process. She thought about going back to Arthur's chamber but instead found her self walking the lower halls, trying to find them. She had just been about to give up when saw Arthur at the other end.
Had Percival told him about her? She hoped he had and she hoped he had not. Walking closer, a small smile on her lips she paused a few feet from him. Where was Merlin? So Percival had not told him. She felt oddly disappointed but knew it was for the best. "Gaius said he sent him out for herbs and he has not returned yet. I am a bit worried but Gaius did not think it was odd. Apparently they are harder to find the others."
Then she questioned him, "Did you find any signs of the man? Anything to help fill in some of the holes?" She had a bit of hope in her voice as she asked him, thinking that if he got on the trail then nothing would stop him. Arthur was the best at just about everything. He could track a falcon on a cloudy day, and he could find this man!

Well at least Merlin was off doing something useful. That certainly helped matters. Hopefully he would return soon and then dawn would actually be a time when he would regain his memory; for it would be when Gaius was done with the remedy. This was the only chance he had for if Gaius could not create something to reverse the spell . . . then he doubted anyone else could. And if that were the case, he would start having to live life without the knowledge of the past three years. He was trying to remain positive for really, it was all he had to hold on to at this point. "Did he say anything about the nature of this spell?" As in, what the likelihood that it was reversible was, or even whether it would wear off in time? Any shred of information that would be helpful. He hoped his question had a better answer than hers.
"No," he answered, trying his best to conceal the disappointment from his voice, but it was certainly there to some extent. "We did however have a few witnesses who collectively, described a fairly clear image of him." While he had silently vowed to make sure he did not act on his emotions again when it came to her, he was also not comfortable standing in the middle of the hallway, discussing such matters of importance. Besides, he had many questions for her, ones that may take a while to ask and answer . . . which is why they should be in the comfort of chairs, rather than standing in a secluded hallway where anyone could be lurking about. "Can we go somewhere so that we can talk in more privacy?" He just wanted to make sure she was alright with that since . . . well, since their last conversation alone had not exactly gone well, except for perhaps the words he had spoken just seconds before they were interrupted.

No clues but they seemed to have a face. That was something! "A face is more then you had moments ago. Perhaps someone will connect a name to it?" She tired to offer him some hope, "Gaius is going to open every book he has and see about undoing the spell. Between him and Merlin they will think of something. I know they will!" They just needed a bit of time, and they like always they would find some sort of hope. Gaius was the land's best! She trusted no other to handle this.
When he asked if they could go somewhere more privately her eyes drifted past him, as if down she could see though the walls and see the room they always meet in. His mother's room which was a distance but not far. "Have you checked your mother's room? If that is the place you woke up, then maybe there is an over looked clue there?" Maybe it would help him to remember if he was in the place where it all happened?
She took a few steps past him before turning to look back at him. "We should at lest look there before returning to your chambers. To make sure we over look nothing." Maybe just maybe being there with her would awaken something in him? Even if it wasn't a memory, and only some strong emotions that lead him to her she would take it. Anything to bring him home.

Her hope was a bit contagious and Arthur fully trusted Gaius, and even Merlin to find a cure for this . . . eventually. In the meantime they would have to do what they could in finding the man responsible. Figuring out his reasons. When she suggested going to his mother's room, Arthur was not sure he could do it. It was of course the logical thing to do but even now he could not understand why she had been in there. It was a very private, practically scared room for him and even he seldom entered for the pain of having lost his mother because of his birth was far too great. Many did not even know the existence of the room for when his father put all of her belongings in there, the doors had been closed and locked, never to be opened. He doubted the king his father ever went in there. The pain of losing his wife was overwhelming to him, to the point where he never even breathed a word about her.
Arthur could not enter in there with her again. While she had been fairly comfortable in it, and even though they were friends, and even though he seemed to have allowed her to go in right before he lost his memory . . . his conscious self, in his set state of mind, could not grant her or anyone entrance into that room. "I will check there later," he said passively. He was saying that he would take the responsibility for going there. That he could not return with her. it was just far too . . . strange. Everything about tonight was strange, to say the least. The less be contributed to the obscurity, the better. "Maybe we should just return to my chambers." And this time, not fold dirty shirts.
