.:Name of Character:. Adrienne Isabeau de Marque .:Nick Name:. Adri, but only by her brothers. .:Age:. Seventeen .:Race:. French, born and raised .:Status:. Lady of France, Daughter of a Duke
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. A quick glance is never enough for one of Adrienne’s status, one really has to take a longer look to fully appreciate all that is going on. The blend of her features is something to be admired for more than a few seconds and in her lifetime Adrienne has received more than her far share of double-takes, even triple-takes. What first catches people is obviously her body. Although Adrienne is not exactly curvy she has enough of a bust and wide enough hips to scream of femininity. But her beauty goes beyond that, far beyond, above those long legs and narrow torso. Beyond even the naturally creamy skin tone. Where the body will quickly lose attention the face will hold it, and likely for a significant time.
The eyes are what draw the attention next, framed as they are by thick, dark lashes. A most brilliant shade of brown they are rather deep set, lending her the appearance of always being broody or tired. Bedroom eyes they have been called, and the title suits them well. Adrienne is never one to wear a great deal of make-up, but she will often line her eyes, knowing that they are indeed her best feature. If you look close enough they are not a simple brown, almost a red color lined with a deep chocolate color that blends together to become a whiskey amber color. Her eyes are the windows to her soul and they bare her emotions for the world to see, even though she has learned to control what emotions are displayed by this point in her life.
The eye is likely to follow those eyes to Adrienne’s nose, what she considers to be one of her worst features. More than once she has complained that it is too long and too wide not to mention patterned with freckles. Luckily the world did invent make up and Adrienne has spared no expense making sure that the rest of the world will never learn of the very bane of her existence. In her opinion freckles make her seem far too cutesy, a term that the young woman loathes completely. Nonetheless her nose really isn’t that terrible, paired as it is with full, pouty lips and high cheekbones it in fact defines her, makes her all the more appealing.
She also hates her jaw line. While most women like a square, thick jaw like Adrienne’s, she can’t stand it on her. She feels it makes her look almost mule like, and finds it to over-done against her thin neck and the rest of her tiny body. She does not accent it much, and actually prefers to underplay it by wearing her hair down to cover the harsh line.
The hair, being one of the first and last things mentioned, is really quite luscious. It falls in lovely waves over the young woman’s shoulders, thick and dark. Yet in the right light it can seem almost chocolate as opposed to it‘s real raven black. It also seems to change with the seasons, being much darker in the winter than in the summer months. Her hair is almost always perfectly groomed, though she never bothers to do anything overtly fancy with it. Beyond leaving it down (where it looks best) the only other thing she bothers doing is pin it up so it’s off her neck. Even then it never stays up for long, various pieces falling down to frame her face. The stray strands often get in her way, thus the habit she has developed of constantly toying with her hair, pushing it off of her face or simply twirling it around her finger.
Back to the body, time for a better look. She definitely has a lovely body. Adrienne is short in comparison to most girls, reaching only five foot two inches in height. It seems that the average height hovers more around five foot six, so Adrienne is often a bit smaller than most. Luckily the men are always much taller than her (usually at least) because honestly she would not be able to stand courting somebody who was shorter than her. Her legs are extremely long, giving her a look akin to a gazelle, finished off by her large brown eyes. Her build is typical to any girl who spends a lot of time outside. She’s slim and well toned with hardly an ounce of fat on her body due to the fact that she is constantly active and busy.
Her clothing style reflects her personality. She loves deep, rich colors for her dresses, colors that reflect nicely on her soft skin tone. She usually prefers a fitted bodice and a full skirt so that her bust is accented and her hips look wider, as is the desirable traits of a woman of the era.
When not before a crowd though, she is known to wear men’s breeches and an overcoat to ride in. She rides a large, Andalusian stallion and needs something she can more in easier than a dress sitting side saddle. .:Height:. 5ft 1in .:Portrayed by:. Emmy Rossum

.:Personality:. Adrienne can only be described as a minx. Being a natural charmer she uses it to it’s full potential. Whether it be playing the innocent damsel or an enchantress she makes sure that the very pores of her body it oozing it. Craving for attention and excitement she loves to stir things up, some examples including stoking fire to rumors and her favorite, leading men on. Being very much like her father there is always a smile or smirk on her face that suggest she knows something that you don’t. She can be sly, coy, and clever, only giving a hint of her mischievous mind that is was plotting.
If you get to know her, you'll find a nice girl in Adrienne. Indeed, she is not the bitch she seems to be all the time. Yes, she is blunt. She'll tell you what she thinks without showing any kind of tact and all, friend or not. She'll be blunt, and sometimes she will seem bitchy because of it, too. But that is just how she is. She's not the kind to shut up just to seem nice. If you annoy her, be sure she'll tell you! If you are her friend, she will love to make you laugh. She won’t go as far as to seem stupid in public, because she's not one of those ridiculous person, but she will be a fool. She will be there to ear you whine about stuff and she'll try to comfort you if something goes wrong, but due to her bluntness and lack of tact, she probably wouldn't be much help. Not like she doesn't try, though.
Her pride is one of her downfalls; she thinks very highly of herself and considers herself of great importance to family and to her peers. While it is a sin and throughout her life others have tried to get her to rid herself of it she can’t. She won’t back down in an argument with anyone, even a king. However she knows that there is always a time and a place for such unpleasantries and doesn’t want to embarrass herself or her court and therefore knows when to hold her tongue much to her displeasure and she has been known to be taken advantage of because of it.
However, her bluntness can take a back seat when it comes to a situation where she needs to observe. This is one of the things that makes her so good at what she does. When it comes to a situation where all her intelligence is needed to focus on one thing, she can. While most people would make wild accusations of guilt or innocence, what people thought or felt, Adrienne sits back and allows people just enough rope to hang themselves, all the while never revealing what she’s doing.
Adrienne has a horrible issue with control. The thought of someone having any type of control over her will send her into something very similar to a panic attack. This is a lot of the reason she has fought so hard against getting betrothed or married. She can become ridiculous about it, to the point that she will refuse orders to avoid not being in total control.
Adrienne has a sharp whit and a smart mind. She’s extremely intelligent and will use it to her advantage. She is almost never at a loss for words, and has a brash tongue that can sting. She’s a good liar and a good actress, and is often well known as the girl with the perfect poker face. She can control all of her body’s reactions very well when she lies, having become so comfortable with it that her pupils don’t dilate and her pulse doesn’t speed up. And, she has a mannerism of speaking that can lead you down the path to hell and you’d think she’s taking you to heaven in a hand basket of silk.
As much as she has a dislike for her mother, there is one quality that the two share, and a lot of the time end up clashing because of it is their temper. Adrienne’s anger is her biggest downfall as she has a very hard time controlling it and will lash out at anyone when she is angry that gets in her way. Of course she will refrain from yelling at those above her in stature but her servants and ladies in waiting have all had the unpleasant experience of feeling her wrath. However in private when there is no one else around if the person she is angry with is above her she won’t hold back as she is a lady of rank and feels she has the right let them know of her anger.
When angry Adrienne doesn’t care who is around to see her. Her tongue is made of venom and fire with matching eyes. She’ll take vengeance whether it be humiliating someone or completely tearing them to bits with words, and without a second thought. Seeing this side of her isn’t very pleasant and should be avoid at any cost.
She is incredibly flirtatious, often not distinguishing between availability and even gender. During her time at the French court, she made several married women her enemies when she was caught in a shameless flirtation with their husbands or their daughters. She often blew it off, not worried about it, but it built her quite a reputation.
Unfortunately this leaves her with quite a few enemies, mostly woman. But she could care less. Why let others ruin her fun? .:Strengths:. .:Birthplace:. Delvare in the reigon of Aquitaine on the coast of France .:Family:. Alexandre de Marque, 41, Duc d'Aquitaine, living Iseabeau de Marque nee Baptiste, 37, Duchesse d'Aquitaine, living Etienne de Marque, 22, brother, living Dimitri de Marque, 21, brother, living Felix de Marque, 20, brother, living .:Occupation:. Debutant .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot Palace .:History:. Adrienne was born into high society. Her father, Alexandre de Marque is part of one of the longest bloodlines in France. Her mother, Isabeau de Marque (nee Baptiste) however, is from a family notorious for their bad bloodlines, but is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in France. Born with natural good looks and given the best a girl could have, the young woman was expected for great things from the moment she entered the world.
Adrienne was born the fourth child of the bloodline in the cold of the French winter. She was beautiful, even as a baby. From the beginning she was given all she could have. The best dresses, the best tutors, the best books, even the best horses when she was far too young to ride. She was the only girl of the family, and her father worshiped her, refusing to deny the little girl anything.
She and her brothers were always very close, more so to Etienne than the other two. He was like a second father to her, and often was her protector in every since of the word. She often ran with them when she was young and did everything they did, including wrestling, racing, fighting, and gaining her fair share of scars before her parents could do anything about it.
When she turned eleven, she was then given a place at court, where an older, very wealthy Duchesse Imilee d’Anjou found the young girl enchanting. She took Adrienne under her wing with little dispute from her family. She cultured the young woman, taught her the ways of being a lady and how to carry herself with poise and grace that attracted attention. The Duchess found her a rather pleasant companion and often took Adrienne with her everywhere, more so than anyone else. The young lady seemed to have a knack for charming people to get what she wanted, and in this case what she wanted was a place in society.
Despite that Adrienne was moving herself up through society; Etienne was the prodigy child of her family. He was constantly put out to be seen and shown off, paraded around in front of all the single women with any money for hopes of a marriage proposal from the girl’s family. Of course, Adrienne had no desire to marry off, so if she was asked to parade around, she would often act dull-witted and lifeless so men would leave her be. It worked for a while, until Etienne became betrothed.
Then, her family pushed harder for Adrienne to marry, despite the fact that she always pushed back. Her mother constantly told her it was an embarrassment on Adrienne that her brother would be married before she. But that didn’t bother Adrienne. While she had high dreams of her future, marriage was not one of those dreams.
When she turned sixteen, she was approached by the Duc Louis d’Anjou, the husband of her mentor, and was asked to become his mistress. Even though it had already been arranged by her mother, with the intentions of it furthering the family, Adrienne balked at the idea. She immediately, and publicly, called him down and asked the King for permission to leave court. From that moment on, her parents pushed her to the back and began furthering Adrienne’s little cousin, Emilee into the world of the court, which was perfectly fine with Adrienne.
While she was not allowed to leave court, she often stayed far to the back, out of the way of eyes and hands. The Duc continued to pursue her relentlessly, and sometimes, rather violently. Adrienne got to the point where she would go no where without her brothers or her father who became sort of like body guards to her. She thought it was never going to end, and that she would never be free, even if she did marry.
That was until Adrienne's father was given a position as a French ambassador to the English court, a position which required the entire family to pick up the pieces and move to England, where Adrienne was given the opportunity to anew, with a new, and far brighter outlook on life.
She swept through the English court like a hurricane, liked by most people for her sweet, innocent demeanor she had adopted as part of her chance to "start over". However, she kept her flirtatious nature, and her elegant stance to give her an air of mystery.
