.:Name of Character:. Alegra Catherine Silvertongue. .:Nick Name:. None. .:Age:. Nineteen. .:Status:. Nobility.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Alegra seems to resemble more of a doll than a human - a rather deceitful trait. With her meager height and ever slighter width, she could be passed off easily as a child if not for her face. At first glance, it appears one might be able to snap her like they would a twig, but there's a sort of intensity in her bright blue eyes that might make you second guess yourself. Unless around very close friends, she always seems very serious, almost fierce, and quite dignified - everything that can be expected of a noble daughter. .:Height:. 4' 11" .:Portrayed by:. Isabelle Adjani.
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. To some - namely those that she doesn't know - Alegra would seem to be very calm, collected, and level-headed. She has an elegant air about her that comes with her status, and extremely articulate verbal skills. In fact, Alegra even seems to have a relatively sweet side; she's quite good at assisting others when needed and calming down those who are, for whatever reason, upset. Her wit and intelligence are hardly debated, and the general (mis)conception is that she is quite harmless.
What really sets her apart, however, is her temper. Her eyes are almost always what give it away; in a social situation, she is usually very good about keeping her anger in check, so unless you look into them and see the fury, one would never know. In private, among people she is comfortable with, or in the presence of the person who has made such a mistake as to offend the young girl, it is a completely different story. She's quick with insults that no noble lady ought to know, often resorting to different languages to deliver them, and seems to have a merciless gift for humiliating the opposing party. .:Strengths:. Articulation, intuition, fragile appearance. .:Weaknesses:. Overactive temper, lack of sense of self-preservation, the people she cares for. .:Magic Abilities:. "Blink" - one second she's there, the next she's not. She can move instantly from one spot to another, but only up to a few feet at a time. Very, very few people know about it, obviously, but it ran in the family on her father's side; she is the first female in her line to have gotten it. It's said that the reason their surname is Silvertongue is because for the smallest fraction of a second after they've "blinked", a silver, almost misty impression seems to hang in the air. However, the ability is not without a price - every time she does it, it drains her. Twice is hard, and after three, she's been known to lose conciousness (though she's only done it three times in a row twice in her life). .:Special Skills:. She is a master at sword-play. .:Accents:. None, really. Old English?
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot. .:Family:. Her mother, Lady Catherine, and a brother that is six years older than her, Drake. Her father is either deceased or missing and was a knight; he never returned after a forest expedition when she was fifteen. .:Occupation:. None, technically, but she has frequently disguised herself as a male and served with the soldiers (which no one aside from herself and her brother, who thinks she has only done it three or four times, knows about). .:Current Location of Residence:. Her father's estate - technically now her brother's - in Camelot. .:History:. Even when a child, Alegra was more rambunctious that children normally were - especially the women. From only a couple years of age to a full decade, she ran around, almost completely unbridled, climbing trees and fences and crawling in the mud and going on adventures with her brother in the rain and essentially everything a young woman of noble birth was not supposed to do. However, even back then, she was a charmer. She had large eyes that she knew how to use, and it was nearly impossible for anyone to deny her a wish - or, when she opened her mouth and actually spoke, to claim that she was as barbaric as she seemed on first glance.
After she became what we would call a "preteen," however, things changed. She began to mature physically, and it was no longer appropriate for her to be outside in a white dress in the rain. Even her brother, who had always been her favorite playmate, became more hesitant to play with her, especially since she didn't seem to be growing upward. Her height had completely stopped advancing by the time she was twelve, and suddenly she was a toy that was easily broken; no one wante to rough-house with her or drag her up a tree or go sliding down hills, lest something happen. Angrily at first and then slowly with a sad resignation, she gave in to the pressures that noble life forced upon her, and began spending her time inside learning languages and arts instead of outside.
However, there was one thing no one could stop her from learning: swordplay. Her father had begun teaching her at a young age alongside her brother, more amused than anything and not expecting her to actually stick with it. According to her mother, she should have stopped such nonsense by the time she was thirteen - but by that time, she had beat her brother, nineteen at the time, twice in a row at a duel, and propriety went to hell in her father's eyes; his daughter was a prodigy. Right up until his disappearance when she was fifteen, he continued to teach her, until she was a formidable opponent even for him. As such, when he disappeared, Alegra needed an outlet for the fury over his loss: she found it as a soldier.
Since then, a minimum of once a month, she's disguised herself and worked with the military force under King Uther. Her brother is the only other one who knows and quite despairs over it, as she and he are about as close as siblings could really get. Despite having proven herself repeatedly, he has come close to reporting her for the sole sake of her safety, and has only refrained from doing so to save her from whatever punishment would be forced upon her. Not even she can explain how she gets away with it, small and demure as she is, but Alegra thus far has shown no plans to stop. She gets a sort of rush from it, and, though she'd never admit it, feels closer to the father that she still misses more than, in the opinion of the rest of the world, she should. Only once or twice has she used her abilities while disguised, and both times came far too close to being discovered - both as a woman and as a magic-user. Since then, she has sworn to Drake never to use the ability again, and has repeatedly broken the promise.
