Uther was still in a state of shock over what had taken place. He had been degraded and humiliated, essentially trampled over by a power he had no means of fighting against. He had been put in chains in his own dungeon while Morgana forced Geoffrey to crown her as queen. With the Cup of Life, the forces she'd gathered were essentially immortal and Uther's men had been powerless.
He was surprised that he even still lived. He'd expected Morgana to kill him immediately, to further ensure her place as queen. But as time went on, he understood more and more why she did not kill him. Arthur was still alive, still out there, his only hope of being rescued and of Camelot being reclaimed. Morgana wanted to torment him by keeping him alive until she was certain Arthur was dead. It was her way of showing him just how powerless he was.
Uther was also concerned about Morgause, given that she had powerful magic. He knew little of her, but he did know that she wanted him dead, and he could not predict what she might do while he waited down here. Morgana would order him kept alive, but she likely would have no qualms about torturing him in the meantime.

The very essence of her plan was under way. Her dear sister was crowned queen, she had an immortal army under her power and due to Morgana's role in it, she had some of the men from Camelot. She had to admit that this despite having been planned from long ago, was different then what she had expected. When she'd first attempted to get the cup, over a year ago she'd been thwarted. She'd made a fool of herself by even thinking of using life magic to create death. And that's exactly what she'd done once she'd managed to get the Cup of Life in her grasp.
The part of the plan that hadn't been as she'd wanted was the simple fact that Uther Pendragon was still alive, and relatively well. She'd imagined just how much of a shock it must have been to be in such a useless position after having been the one man with the most power in the kingdom. Knowing that her sister's father would be kept alive solely under Morgana's orders the priestess had ventured down the steps and into the dungeons. Her steps were relatively light despite her stature as she walked down the stones.
Stopping in front of the cell that the king had been none-to-lightly deposited into, the woman smirked as she stepped right up to the bars. "Surprise, surprise your highness. Finally right where you belong. This is where the liars, thieves, and murderers wind up." Morgause couldn't help but taunt.

Uther had expected Morgause to come and taunt him, just as Morgana had. His current situation was too good for either girl to pass up, both in the sense of verbal taunts and the possible physical torment he knew might follow. Morgana's visits were the worst-Uther wanted desperately to break through to her, and he never stopped trying, never stopped pleading with her to see reason. He hoped still that it might just be Morgause's magic clouding Morgana's mind, but he couldn't be sure.
"You are responsible for all of this. First you poison Arthur's mind against me, and then you poison Morgana with your magic. She would not act in such a way were she in her right mind. And you shall pay for it. I may not be in position to strike back right now, but Arthur is still out there. He would die before he stopped trying to rescue me, and I know that he will do his best." he said.
"And, some may think me brutal and tyrannical, but my duty is to my kingdom. I will do what I must to prevent Camelot from being destroyed by magic."

Morgause had placed a hand at the barred door to Uther's cell and glared down at the king. "I am responsible for this? Oh, how wrong you are." She hissed, and stared at the man. Men disgusted her some times, and it was men like Uther that were the reason for such a feeling that was arising within. "Was it not you who are responsible? You who lie and used those around you for your own gain?" Morgause snapped.
She wrapped her long fingers around the bars and smirked. "I would do nothing to endanger Morgana, she is my kin!" The blonde haired woman snapped and would have been livid had she not been trained to deal with unpleasant situations.
"And you would destroy your kingdom before magic does! You are filth." She hissed out. She wanted to harm the king, and the king alone, for he had been the reason she had not grown up where she should have. She had been one of many children that had supposed to have been killed in the great purge, not that she remembered it. "You have killed children, women and men alike. For that you don't deserve to rule."

He listened, but was trying his best not to let her lies affect him. It was no different than what he dealt with day to day, really. No one could understand his position as king and the decisions he faced, the responsibility that rested on his shoulders as ruler of the kingdom. He took no pleasure in executions and taking lives. He was not a bloodthirsty killer. He did only what he had to to protect his people and ensure their safety.
"I did not lie, not about that at least. I knew there would be a price for Nimueh's help in concieving Arthur. But Ygraine was never to be part of it. It was my life that was to be taken for Arthur's, not Ygraine's. I realized with her death how dangerous and destructive magic is. It corrupts all those who practice it and brings only destruction and evil." he said."And it matters not the age of the user. Anyone who uses magic is dangerous. They are either already a threat to the kingdom, or they will become a threat. Either way, they must be dealt with. No one can understand my position because no one else is in it. I cannot allow evil to destroy this kingdom and its people! That is the true filth, the evil that would destroy everything I have worked for. I conquered this land and worked to make it what it is today. I will not have that ultimately be for nothing."

The man's utter denial of it all was horrific, and it utterly disgusted the young blond woman. She glared through the bars at the male and then took a deep breath. She had to keep a calm mind and she drew her hands back, solely to adjust the silken robe she wore over her dress and then gave a soft chuckle as she shook her head.
"You should know, you can not bargain one's life. The old religion chooses not the one who casts the spell. I wish severely that it had been you to die twenty years ago, Uther Pendragon! It was not Nimueh's fault, and I am certain had she foreseen this that you would not have a son. The balance of life must remain even, for a death brings a life, a life brings a death." She paused and took another breath, her lips curling up into a smirk. "After all, you took my mother the lady Vivienne to bed! That is after all the reason why my sister is your daughter. How Morgana is only my half-sister, and the rightful heir to Camelot. You. Betrayed my father, Gorlois. You tried to execute me before I was even old enough to talk in sentences! You're the one who is dangerous! You are the one who will destroy the kingdom you hold so dear! You are the savage one and you deserve to burn!" She hissed as she pulled back from the prison cell. She began to pace around in front of him. "Shall I give you a preview of the hell you shall be going to?" She asked with an amused tone.

"I knew there would be a price, but I assumed it would be my life. I never meant for Ygraine to be the price. As for Vivian, I cannot change the mistakes that were made...I would never wish not to have Morgana, but I cannot change the wrongs, either."he said.
Her comments about Morgana being the rightful heir made him angrier."ARTHUR is the rightful heir to the throne! I care nothing for what either you or Morgana say, I will NOT believe he is dead unless a body is brought to me. Until then, I believe he lives, and he WILL find a way to take the city back.!"
Morgause went on, and Uther repeated what he'd said to so many before."I cannot make allowances based on age. Anyone with magic is dangerous, and I cannot allow a potential threat to become a definate threat. I am not the savage one! I am protecting my kingdom by doing what must be done. I take no pleasure in what I must do, no delight in it!
He was straining and raging again, even though he couldn't possibly get out of the chains."If you think I will beg for mercy or give you the pleasure of crying in pain, you are mistaken. I will die before I submit to anyone. It matters now how great the pain is, I will NOT give anyone satisfaction!"
