Guinevère had a plan for her life, and by the time she was eighteen she knew exactly how her life would be played out. She'd get her RN, and work as a nurse while paying for medical school. Then she'd begin working for Doctors With Out Borders, and travel the world to help the under devolved counties of the world by bring hope, medicine and food to them. By the time she was old enough, she would come home and use her knowledge to work in a clinic and give help to the ones who could not afford it.
That plan would never happen, for the moment Arthur had knocked on her door in the middle of the night her life had changed so much. She was now married to him, and no longer in school. While she would never be a doctor who traveled the world to help the ones in need, she could do other things to help.
She was not sad about the change, in fact Guinevère was very much the other way around. She loved Arthur, and had found something in him that she never even knew her life was missing. Arthur humored her need to try to save the world, and even helped her and encouraged her very often. It was on one such outing that she meet him.
His name was Mordred, and he was in an orphanage in Wales. The nurses there said he had not spoken to anyone since he had came here. The story of the young boy, broke her heart and she knew just what she wanted to do. Help. So that night, Guinevère 'asked' her husband for the biggest decision she could ever ask him.
And many weeks of legal proceeding later, that was how they came to be bringing the young boy into their home . . . .
Guinevère was sitting in the limo beside Mordred, as they pulled up in front of the country estate that her and her husband shared. "We are home now!" She told him, trying to sound as excited as she could with out it being an over kill. She looked over at Arthur with a bright smile on her face before looking back at her new son. They might not be anyone's ideal version of a family; she thought as the limo stopped near the door and the driver exited to come open the door and get their bags; but they could be a happy one given time.

Mordred recalled the process of being adopted, and he was actually happy to have that happen. He hadn't needed to spend too much time in the orphanage any longer. There had been many weeks of waiting to find out if he really would be leaving. And when the day arrived when he met Guinevère again, he knew that he'd have a loving family to look after him.
He had simply gathered his few belongings into a bag and they had left. The plane ride to his new home had been long, and he had fallen asleep through the most of it. Waking up when they were about an hour from landing. There had been customs to go through, and it took as long as customs leaving Wales. He was vaguely amused by the sights and smells that were so different from Wales.
And then when they were picked up from the airport by a limosine the young boy's eyes went wide as saucers. He simply stared up at Arthur and Guinevère, alternating glances between to the two adults. It was completely grand, it was amazing. Going from so little, to just being taken home like... Well, like this was almost more then he could imagine. He recalled sitting beside his new mother in the ride home, and then being told that they were home. He gave a small nod to indicate he was listening and waited for the door to open and for his new guardians to file out before following them.
He took in the side of the estate and stared. The estate was huge. His eyes widened and he was elated to see how there was also room to play outside. He mouthed 'wow' but did not actually speak. It wasn't that he could not speak. It was simply that he did not like to speak, so he opted to stay quiet, even if that would lead others to quite incorrectly, believe that he was mute. He often spoke to his family, when he had one but, now he had a new family.
Glancing around to take it all in Mordred smiled. No, he more then smiled. He grinned at his new surroundings. It was what any kid would want. A large home, a large yard, loving parents. Despite knowing his new parents well, he knew they loved him already or else he wouldn't have been adopted. The boy was special enough to have been picked out despite his lack of interest in conversing.
He then glanced up to each of his new parents, still grinning before waiting for them to lead them inside. He was imagining that the inside of the house would be grand, and he would have a bedroom that would probably be like a dream. Not to mention he'd be certain to have a room all to himself. That alone was enough to make him all the more excited.

Arthur had become a father overnight and this worried him a little. He had always thought that when he would become a father, was when Gwen would get pregnant. Then, they would have nine months to prepare themselves and get everything in order. But this decision, this life changing decision, had been made more speedily, yet not so impulsively. Arthur was all for doing things in the spur of the moment, but this was something that would require a great deal of adjustment. Yet, to see the bright smile on Gwen's lips, and see the excitement in Mordred's eyes . . . well, it made everything worth it. While Arthur would not regret this decision or agreement to it since it was really Gwen who convinced him, he was still a bit worried as to what being a father would truly entail. His own father was not in favor of this entire thing. Mostly because Arthur did not clear it up with him first. But that did not matter. He lived his own life and he doubted the president would be able to distance himself from his son so much . . . for the sake of his public image if nothing else.
It was why this trip to their country estate was crucial. It would be perhaps the only time that they could spend together, away from all the chaos of the media and political affairs. It would be a good time to get to know their adopted son, and for him to familiarize with them, as well as adjust to their ways. Though, it did worry Arthur that the boy had not spoken once since he had met him. The woman at the adoption agency said that he was very quiet, perhaps even mute. It therefore may be even more difficult to get to know him if he was so silent. Yet, the excitement in his eyes brought him to life and while he may not speak, he was expressive all the same.
When they arrived at the house, the chauffer got out of the car and opened the door for them. Arthur waited for Gwen and Mordred to get out first, before exiting the car himself. "Take our bags to our rooms please," he told one of the servants who hurried out to greet them. Now what. Should they give Mordred a tour of the place? Perhaps he was hungry? Maybe he should just let Gwen take the lead for really, had it not been for her, Arthur would not even considered making this decision. He knew she would be an incredible mother though and seeing how dedicated she had been in adopting Mordred, was a clear example of just how much she already cared for him.
