.:Name of Character:. Merlin Caradoc
.:Nick Name:. Several, though none he cares to say
.:Age:. 19 years old
.:Race:. Dragon Lord
.:Status:. Servant to Arthur| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Merlin isn't exactly the most physical of people, in fact, he is rather on the thin side. He is getting a little stronger, what with all his daily chores for Arthur. He has somewhat curly brown-black hair, that appears to be a mix of windswept, and just messed up, quite frequently, even when properly combed. He has perceptive blue eyes that constantly wonder about in a near state of curiousity. Merlin prefers to wear comfortable clothing, and is usually seen in a dark gray-blue shirt with a brown jacket. A red-brown bandana can be seen tied around his neck, and he wears brown pants. Other than that... he appears rather "normal".
.:Height:. 5'10" tall
.:Portrayed by:. Colin Morgan| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Merlin, a sorcerer, frequently practices magic in secret to learn how to control it and become better at it, to improve his exceptional talent ad further his education. However, such a power comes with a risk. Magic is banned in Camelot, and any practice of it can get him killed, even if it is to save or help someone. Despite this knowledge and danger, Merlin utilizes it to protect those who have grown close to him, and those he believes need his help. In particular he uses it to help Prince Arthur, even though he gets no recognition for it, as he can't tell the prince in fear that he will tell Uther and his secret will be out - or he'll be killed. Either way, while he wants to trust that Arthur wouldn't tell on him, he keeps it a secret anyway, hoping that in the future he can tell the young, stubborn man.
At first upon ariving in Camelot and meeting Arthur, he absolutely detested the prince, even calling him (though he didn't know who he was) a prat. This landed him in the dungeon, and thankfully Gaius could get him out. However, after saving the man's life and having to be his servant, Merlin has grown attached to Arthur, and even considers him one of his closest friends. He still doesn't like the way he's treated, exactly, though. After all, he's just a servant and really can't do much if Arthur tells him to clean his room, or polish his armor, or be a target for target practice. He can be outspoken and foolish, and will at times use his magical abilities for himself. However most of the times he will use it to help others, particularly Arthur.
Merlin is naive. He is also very selfless, willing to do almost anything to ensure his friend's safety over his own, especially Arthur, not only to ensure that Arthur can become the future king, but because he's one of his best friends. Merlin has a habit of attempting to see good in everyone, and strives to, despite how he's been warned that this might be his undoing. Nonetheless there is also a darker side to Merlin's personality where he will go to extreme measures to protect those he cares about, even if it means killing enemies. He has been directly responsible for the deaths of several people. At times Merlin has been forced to actively kill people to protect others.
After being thorougly convinced that it is his destiny to help Arthur become the greatest king in Albion and bring magic back to the land, he has had a harder time concealing the fact that he has saved the Prince's life on several occasions. He respects Arthur, however, and would entrust his life to him without a second thought...

- Doesn't always think rationally if a situation ensues where his friends are in danger
.:Magic Abilities:.
- Possesses considerable natural magical resilience
- Learns magic at an incredibly fast rate

.:Special Skills:. According to Arthur, none. However, Merlin is quite agile, and has some skill in the sword (taught to him by the Prince), albeit being quite clumsy with it and not very good. He also knows how to clean, although this mainly comes from using his magic to lessen the loads, and he wouldn't consider it a special skill.

.:History:. For many years, the birth of one young boy that would grow to help Prince Arthur Pendragon become the greatest king, had been prophesized by many cultures. One such culture was the Druids, who call him Emrys (or "immortal"). But prophecy is a confusing thing, and many trials awaited the young boy.
Merlin was born in Ealdor, a small village in Albion, to Hunith and Balinor, a Dragonlord. Balinor had been forced into hiding when Uther Pendragon started the Great Purge to rid the Kingdom of Camelot. Gaius helped Balinor escape from Uther's persecution of magic and hid him with Hunith. The two fell in love, but Uther discovered Balinor's hiding place and sent knights to arrest him, despite him being out of Uther's kingdom. Balinor was forced to flee and leave Hunith behind. Later, Hunith discovered she was pregnant and later gave birth to Merlin. Merlin wouldn't see his father until many years later. Merlin had been born with a strange power that enables him to control magic. Because of this, despite the absolute danger, Hunith wrote to Gaius, her brother, when Merlin was older and asked him to take care of Merlin and teach him to use his magic.
So Merlin made the journey to Camelot, where Gaius took him in and treated him as a son. The old man even gave him a spell book, but Merlin has to keep it hidden in the case of anyone finding out he was a sorcerer, for magic was banned in Camelot. Upon hearing of the Great Dragon Kilgharrah being imprisoned far below Camelot, and upon hearing the Dragon's call, he has many times gone down their to seek its assistance in many things. His days in Camelot mainly consist of chores - after all, he saved Prince Arthur's life once, and ever since has been his servant...
The Dragon states that it's Merlin's destiny is to protect Arthur Pendragon and aid him in uniting the kingdoms of Albion and return magic to the land.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
