.:Name of Character:. Olyver Vane .:Nick Name:. Oly. .:Age:. 30 .:Race:. Escetian .:Status:. Nobleman. former knight of Escetia. Knight of Camelot.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Olyver is in his prime years, Mister 'tall, dark, and handsome' if he ever said so himself. He has chestnut brown hair that is kept short and uncombed. His facial structure is rather average, and he has the starts of stubble formed along his face. His eyes are a warm olive-green.
His typical dress style is a blue tunic, piped with black lining and twine at the sleeves, holding the cloth together. At his waist is a simple leather belt. His breeches are a dark blue, almost black colour and he wears a pair of black boots. He's also seen spotting tan leather gloves.
When he's not dressed in such a fashion, he has primitive armour on. Above a brown tunic, he's typically seen wearing a leather tunic to protect his torso and lower extremities. His sleeves are long, to his wrist, and his trowsers are the same brown material as his tunic. Across the armor at his stomach lies a belt with an area where he keeps a sword. Fastened around his neck is a knit cloak.
When he's not in training or having leisure time, he's dressed in chainmail, and armor from head-to-toe, the basic knight's ensemble. .:Height:. 182 cm/ 5 ft 11 in .:Portrayed by:. Michael Vartan
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Olyver is a mentally strong being, although is far from perfect. He's loyal to the ones he holds close and nothing will change that. With his loyalty also comes an odd sense of stubbornness. He knows right from wrong, and will stand up for his belief. With this, he's got half-a-mind to defy the person in command, if he knows that what he'd been ordered to do is wrong. He is respectful, and wants only to protect the innocent and those weaker then himself who need protection. He will almost never back down from a challenge present to him. .:Strengths:. + Courageous, a reasonable strength to his personality, his courage is what propels him forward in battle, it's his courage that drives him to fight for the people who can't protect themselves + Chivalrous; A trait of character, a code that Knights normally live by. He treats most people with respect, and yet has his moments where he will loose his head, so to speak. + Adventurous; By being adventurous Olyver is capable of moving to a new land, to see new sights, and learn new things. He's normally fairly open-minded. + Serious in the face of danger, and not one to kill for pleasure, Olyver will do what he must to protect the ones he loves. .:Weaknesses:. - Irrational. This sometimes is all too much of a word to describe him. In times when he is being irrational, he usually will do whatever it takes to get his words across, even if it costs him greatly. One of the possible irrational behaviours is talking out against his king's orders. - Attachment; when Olyver grows attached to someone, he's prone to do things that could in the long run cause problems for himself. If his family or friends were in danger, he'd risk his life just to save theirs. - Hesitation; Perhaps not only a weakness but also a strength is the fact that he will not kill, at least not if he has the choice. He'd be driven mad with guilt if he had to kill in cold blood. .:Opinion on Magic:. Olyver was taught from a young age, that magic was evil, the old religion was full of devils, and false gods. To him it doesn't matter if someone uses magic or not so long as it doesn't cause unfair advantages, or harm to another person. .:Special Skills:. A special skill of his, is that he's fairly skilled in archery. He's far from the best, but it's probably farther along in skill level then his swordsmanship is. .:Accents:.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Escetia. (Cenred's kingdom) .:Family:. Ban Vane, his father. Olyver like his father before him, was a knight. Ban was always strict, and taught Olyver the Knight's Code of Chivalry from the time he was old enough to understand what was being said. From a noble family.
Alys, wife of Ban, and Olyver's mother. Alys was a mother of three, and only had one son. She had married up in class.
Cybele was two years older then Olyver, and was the first born child of Ban and Alys. Cybele suffered from an ailment while Olyver was small and died not too long after. What Olyver remembers of her, is that she was kind, always smiling and wore the finest of gowns and jewels.
Elynn was the product of an affair that happened when Olyver was four summers old. Ban and Alys had separated and during that time Elynn was conceived. Elynn looks more like her father then she does her mother. Elynn and Olyver were close until he began training to be a knight.
.:Occupation:. Olyver is a knight. .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot .:History:. Son of Ban Vane and his wife Alys, Olyver came into the world with noble blood and had an older sister When he was still too small to remember his older sister, Cybele came down will a mysterious ailment and passed away after two feverish days. His early life is a blur, at some point his parents had separated, and during this time brought in a younger sister, a petite blond creature with emerald green eyes. He knew that he and his sister had been close as young children, just a four year difference between them in age.
Elynn and he grew apart when he reached the age of seventeen and Olyver began training to be a knight under the ruler of Escetia, king Cenred. During this time, Olyver and his sister would argue, saying that there were other occupations with less hazards that he could do. Eventually the two siblings found each other to be drifting apart in closeness and refused to acknowledge each other in the same room.
By twenty years of age, Olyver had become one of Cenred's knights although he'd found himself in a cell in the dungeon every now and then as there were certain situations that he'd react negatively towards. He believed that the people came first and foremost. This pattern continued for just about ten years.
When Morgause came, everything changed. It was clear that Cenred would do anything to make that woman happy. There were no problems with magic in the kingdom, and yet she put him on edge. Hearing stories and overhearing plots between him and some of his allies sent shivers down his spine. When the time came he called an audience with King Cenred and said that he was leaving Escetia and was starting a new life, travelling Albion till his heart's content. He had left shortly before the incident with the cup of life, and that had probably saved him from the doom that had found his fellow knights.
He'd eventually found his way into Camelot, and promised himself that he'd do the right thing, and train against to be a knight. He would do whatever he could to help the Kingdom, although there was scepticism over his even being in the lands as he had hailed from Escetia and had been a knight under Cenred's rule, the possibility of his being a spy what really unnerved him.
