Keep talking but it makes no sense Running running, she always seemed to be running and there were times she didn't even know what she was running from. Not that this was the case of course. She knew why she was running now, to escape a bunch of guards that had accused her of stealing as well as using magic. It wasn't as it seemed but try telling that to a bunch of bored guards that seemed to have nothing better to do than chase off a druidess. She hadn't done anything wrong and yet they pursued her. It was ridiculous, yet another reason she could choose to hate Uther but she didn't, she didn't hate anyone but that didn't mean she liked these persistent bastards who were on her tail. She shouldn't run really, they were simply doing their job but given that one the sentence for using magic within the realms of Camelot was death, getting caught was not a chance she could take.
Her heart raced as she ran, her red cloak billowing behind her like a blood red cloud. She hadn't stolen anything, that went against her creed, so to speak. It was not her fault that she had come across a merchant that had sought to take more than she was willing to give simply because she hadn't had enough money to pay for the supplies that she had been after. She had refused and when he refused to release his grip on her arm, she was forced to use magic, burning his hand so that he released her. She didn't like using such magic, especially to harm others but she had seen no other choice. Of course they didn't blame the merchant for assaulting an innocent young woman, no they turned on her because she had used magic.
So she ran, they yipped at her heels like a bunch of rabid terriers, intent on catching her and taking her to Uther to be tried and killed. She wouldn't give them chance. She was smart, she knew the forest well and the moment her foot touched the soil of the forest, she was within her element. She was a druidess which meant that she was a force to be reckoned and these men didn't know what they were getting into. That being said, perhaps they sensed a soft soul because despite being able to kill them with her magic, she didn't have it in her to do such a thing and she couldn't kill them all at once. She wasn't that powerful...yet.
She knew where her encampment was but she also knew that she couldn't led the guards to where they were, not even for her own safety. If it had just been these guards, it wouldn't make much of a difference but there would be more if these men didn't return and she wouldn't have her people being searched for because of her. No, she had to handle this herself and she would. "ásencan." She said as she looked back, her eyes shimmering gold before the spell took affect on the closest guard to her who had only just grasped the end of her cloak. It happened in an instant, he was chasing her and than suddenly it was as though the ground were quick-sand that he couldn't escape. She could have killed him, allowed the earth to swallow him up but that would be a cruel way to die. So she willed the magic to stop, leaving him stuck in the earth while his fellow guards continued the chase.
She was getting tired now... She needed to find a place to rest to regain her strength.

::vaughn:: Vaughn was doing what he normally did. Absolutely nothing. The boredom of the world continued ensue as he was seriously lacking entertainment or any form of amusement whatsoever. The woods were large. It took time to come across anything that struck remote interest in him. Plus, he was not doing anything to help himself. He was currently leaning against a tree, sharpening one of his daggers. He needed to find another horse, but that would be easily arranged once his weapons were probably prepared. Clad only in his knightly attire of a foreign seal, and two swords strapped on his back, he was prepared to search for anyone who he could steal from. Or, perhaps find a more devious way to get the animal.
While he silently thought of such things, without so much as plotting for Vaughn often did not plan things, he heard a set of footprints rushing his way. He did not look up. Not until he saw from the corner of his eye a vibrant red cloak that immediately captured his attention, for it meant it was a woman. He broke his gaze from his dagger, quickly tucking it into its holster as his eyes rest on the runner. She looked, exasperated. Interesting. He took a few steps forward so that he would somewhat block her path. If she moved past him, all he would have to do is move to the side. It would not be too difficult to overpower her either. She was petite.
As he got a better view of her, his lips curved into a bit of a smile. His eyes scanned over her, as only a man would peer over a woman, his gaze emphasizing each curve of her body. It was a look meant to make her uncomfortable, as if he was peering too closely at her. Of course, every woman reacted differently to such a gaze. He would have to see what her reaction would be. He continued to do so until his eyes finally rested on her face. Delicate features. Fair skin. Alluring eyes. She looked almost porcelain. And she was positively exquisite. Vaughn could indeed have some fun with this. "Where are you going in such a hurry?" He asked in a bit of a playful voice. Today was going to be interesting after all.

Keep talking but it makes no sense The fear of those who pursued her was slowly beginning to wane the further she lost herself into the forest. She was in her territory; her element and these men were not. They were city folk, not used to the forest as she was which was an advantage all her own. It had all been lies, she had never stolen anything because that wasn’t something she’d do unless she was starving and even then she’d hesitate. She couldn’t deny using magic though she had certainly not used it in public, she was hardly as foolish as that but those men had simply wished to see her burned or hanged because she had spurned their advances. It wasn’t her fault that she found neither one of them the type she wished to show interest in and given the lusty looks they both had had in their eyes, her compliance wasn’t exactly a necessary thing either. Would they even take her to the Palace to be tried if they had been able to catch her or would they have chosen to do unspeakable things to her in the forest? It was a frightening thought to entertain and it only hastened her pace.
She wasn’t exactly sure how long she had been running before she realized that she was no longer being chased. Her heart raced and for a moment she felt as though she may collapse, her lungs burning. She feared that it was some kind of trap that they were trying to lead her into. Trying to make her slow down but there really seemed to be no one behind her. Could she take a moment to rest? There really was no question to that, she had to rest or she would pass out and then what would happen to her? She slowed her pace and took a few slow much needed breaths. Gods how her chest hurt… Still, she’d rather be exhausted and unscathed, she just had to hope it stayed that way.
One crisis averted, now all she had to do was find her encampment and fully rest because she wouldn’t feel right until she did. Her head was aching and she still was shaking as she began to walk towards the direction of her encampment, not knowing that there was someone else in the forest who was not of her people. She had taken to a swift run as she drew closer; still peering over her shoulder for fear that her earlier assailants were still around, biding their time. She was somewhat paranoid but she was sure that all would be well when she finally reached her camp. Her Uncle’s presence always made her feel so much safer.
Peering over her shoulder yet again as she had heard something behind her, she hadn’t noticed Vaughn up ahead until she practically ran into him. She squeaked in surprise and jumped back, fearful that someone she had been caught by the guards but it was not them who now stood in her way. He was unfamiliar, a dark looking man with an unfamiliar seal but she knew the look of a Knight when she saw one. Had she escaped one form of danger just to stumble across another? She really needed to stop going out on her own, she seemed to be a magnet for trouble. He was a handsome fellow, very dark looking as well as frightening. Not the sort of person one would want to meet alone in the forest. Still, aside from his sudden appearance, perhaps she was judging him too quickly and too harshly.
Or not… Catalina clearly saw the ways his eyes seemed to look over her body in a very uncomfortable way. She didn’t like the way he was looking at her, not one bit. It made her take an unconscious step back away from him. A faint pink blushed stained her cheeks as she looked away, clearly embarrassed and unsure of the situation. She should be leaving but she had a feeling that he would not allow that, not yet. While yes, he could easily overpower her in terms of physical strength; to believe that she was all but helpless would prove to be a dangerous mistake on his part. His playful question brought her back to the situation at hand and she took another small step back, trying her best to show no fear. “I am in no hurry...” She said quickly though her labored breathing even now would show her intent at deception. “But I should be going.” She hurried to try and move around him, not wanting to be around a man who leers at her in such a way. The further away she was from all of this, the better she’d feel.
