| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Caerleon, a kingdom in Albion located near the Western Isles and to the northwest of Camelot. .:Family:. Father- Gareth, Knight of Caerleon (deceased), Mother – Leonie (deceased) .:Occupation:. None. Vagabond. Knight of Camelot, eventually. .:Current Location of Residence:. No permanent residence whatsoever. Wandering the kingdoms, specifically the taverns.
.:History:. Gwaine is the son of Gareth, Knight of Caerleon, and Leonie. He grew up in the laws and lessons of nobility. His father even taught him the ways of the sword and of a Knight since he learned how to walk. Gwaine has been groomed to become one when he was old enough. Growing up, he was every inch a Knight, respectful, loyal, trustworthy. At a very young age, he has become very skilled with the sword and other fighting techniques, and is quite fearless. Until one fateful event changed his life forever.
During a war, his father died fighting for the army of Caerleon. When his mother sought help and support from the King, he ignored their plea and refused to offer them any help whatsoever, leaving them destitute and unfortunate. Since then, the young Gwaine had vowed to detest royalty or nobility of any kind, knowing them to be blinded only by power and greed. When his mother died of an illness they could not afford to treat, Gwaine left home, and had since then turned his back on his ancestry and history.
Armed only with his sword, attitude, and a couple of his family’s heirlooms (a ring and a necklace with their family crest), he ventured out of Caerleon, not caring where his feet would take him. Still he sought to practice and improve his skills as a fighter in reverence to his father. As a vagabond, he is a regular at taverns where he almost always figured in brawls, and he has also become quite the ladies’ man, enjoying the comforts of a woman’s bed during the cold, lonely nights.
He met Arthur and Merlin at a tavern where he helped them in a brawl against Drag. They won the scuffle, but Gwaine was badly injured while saving Arthur’s life. He was then brought to Camelot to be treated by Gauis, and was quite dismayed to find out he had just saved a prince, a noble, the very people he abhorred. Gwaine formed a bond with Merlin, and eventually got to know Arthur. He told Merlin that Arthur is not like the rest of the nobles, and he even went out to help him in the melee where Drag and a companion, disguised as knights, came to kill Arthur in revenge. While he was wrongly imprisoned for killing said “knights”, Gwaine was absolved when they found out that those knights weren’t knights after all. Uther still banished Gwaine, and even though Merlin tried to convince him to tell them about him being a noble, Gwaine refused to serve Uther, and told Merlin that someday he may return when Arthur is king.
Later, Gwaine met Merlin in another tavern brawl, and he helped Merlin save Arthur during his quest in search for the Golden Trident. He returns with them to Camelot only to see it taken over by Morgana, Morgause and Cenred’s immortal army. Gwaine stayed with them to help take Camelot back, and eventually became a Knight of Camelot.
