.:Personality:. On the surface, Raieyana appears to be a strong woman. She is poised, but speaks her mind when faced with criticism. She was raised to be meek and timid but the events of her life had greatly altered her personality. Her strength is something greatly frowned upon, and therefore struggles to hold her tongue. She can be easily provoked especially when there is any insult made towards her daughter.
On the inside, she is a broken woman. She represses her saddened emotions when in public, that they become overwhelming when she is in solitude. Internally, she feels constantly judged though she will not make this feeling known to anyone. Despite her bitterness towards other people, she does enjoy the glamour of being a woman of nobility which includes the socializing aspect of it.

.:History:. Rai was born in the kingdom of Mercia, in the Prestcote Estate. She had only an older brother whom she never had a close relationship with. Growing up, she was pampered as the sole daughter of her parents, and spoiled to no end. It was not until her parents both died that she became more of a free spirit. Her brother took over the lands and estate, obtaining full control, and cared very little about what his sister did. This neglect gave her a bit too much freedom which led to rather liberal behavior. She was vain, flirtatious and enjoyed the company of men. One man in particular, Sir Darell, who was a visiting knight from Camelot, had gained her attention, and she, his. The two grew incredibly close during his stay in the kingdom, to the point of consummating their infatuation and lust for one another. This would have remained unknown had a pregnancy not developed from it.
While expecting a child should be a happy occasion, it was anything but. She was 18 years of age, afraid of facing this alone. Although instead, it created a great deal of conflict and stress from both families. Darrel’s parents were appalled by this scandalous behavior and took full control of the situation. They demanded that she return with Darell to Camelot, and her brother, who did not want such scandal to tarnish the family name, all too willingly sent her. With little choice, Rai left her home and moved to Camelot. This was not the only decision that was made for her; she was pressured to marry Darell and shortly after her pregnancy was known, the two were wed. It was done quickly enough, and discreetly enough, that no one suspected that she was expecting a child prior to their marriage.
She gave birth comfortably to baby girl whom they named Melodie. While Darell’s parents never truly accepted her, they grew even more irritated that she had not produced a son. This only increased their resentment towards their daughter in law. When Melodie was only a few months, Sir Darell’s duties called him away, and this would be the last time she ever saw him. He was killed in the eve of battle, and while he was honored, he was sorely missed. Rai remained in the household for one reason, and one reason only: because of her in-laws promise they made to Darrel, to take care of Rai and their granddaughter. While they did not break that promise, they certainly are not enthused by the idea. They often keep her under extremely close watch, and now seven years later, they are still waiting for the day that a proposal comes forth, she accepts and moves away from their home. Of course, proposals do not come so easy to a woman who is a widow and a single mother to a six year old daughter.
