It was a rather hectic day. Harriet's mother Olivia had gotten worse in her illness today and Harriet took time off to be beside her. To comfort her, but it was not enough. She needed medicine of some kind. There was little chance of getting hold of any within the nearby village. Harriet had to go to Camelot. Seek the healer there if she could, as her hand hung her bag over her shoulder. She wore a simple buttoned up red dress, with a simple pattern. Her foot slid into the stirrup of her ride. There was no need for the cart this time and instead of Iris, she used Apollo. A buckskin stallion golden as the the sun. Which glistened through the trees. As Harriet trotted now through the forest. Using the short cut to make time go faster. She thought if she moved quick enough, she could avoid any hassle. It was mid morning, surely it was safe enough. As soon she pushed Apollo into a canter. Missing trees and fallen branches.
Then suddenly which took Harriet much by surprised Apollo ceased. Snorted. Whinnied at some unseen danger. Felt the steed heighten under her seating, causing a little off balancing. She motioned her hand to help calm him. As her green eyes danced between shadows and a quick turn at the snap of a twig. Then a low growl. Apollo already backing up. Soon crept out something Harriet wasn't sure had a name. Was it even a beast? She slowly backed Apollo, only finding another growl some where behind and eventually to her side as well. Not one, but three. Surrounded them. Feeling the rising of her chest, she tried to remain calm, even if her pulse was slowly racing. The beasts crept further. Causing Apollo to rise on his back feet with a shake of his head. Harriet lost her balance and soon hit the ground, rather hard with her head. The sound of hooves galloping off.
Harriet groaned as she slowly came round, feeling a burning sensation to her head, but nothing was broken. She quickly remembered where she was as the growls were coming closer. Her mind was dazed and caught dead centre. Felt the fear inside. With little way out. Felt as she shallowed hard which seemed to be getting caught. She instinctually motioned back with her hands. As the beast before her moved her direction with a little faster pace that she turned to crawl away from the beast. Only to be cut short with a quick jolt as she was met with another beast. Causing her to jump in fright. Turning again only to find the beast behind had caught up and it struck out at her. She felt the tear of her skin upon arm as it pinned her with its claws. She let out a cry from the pain, felt its teeth so close. She shook as the beast closed in, felt she was very much doomed. They all let out a raw which caused fear, tears and her lungs screamed.

The sound of a blood-curling scream caught Percival in his tracks. He and a couple other soldiers were out on patrol in the nearby forests of Camelot when it came ringing through the trees. Without as much as a pause, Percival and the others turned their steeds to the direction of the scream, galloping hard and fast towards it. He hoped that they would still be in time to rescue whoever it was. A scream as frightened as that could only mean one thing. Either a beast or a band of bandits had cornered the poor woman. "Come on, Midnight, faster!" he egged his horse on as they rushed through the trees and undergrowth.
Midnight was one fine horse, and Percival was much too scared for the girl that he didn't notice that he was already way ahead of the other soldiers. He trained his ears to locate where the scream had come from, and to his right heard the sound of menacing growls instead. Percival didn't hesitate, and he maneuvered Midnight towards the sound. As soon as they stepped through a gap between two trees, Percival saw the woman herself, on the ground, with two ferocious beasts surrounding her and one pinning her down.
With an enraged growl of his own, Percival drew his sword out, and he and Midnight rushed towards the beasts. Percival struck the one that had pinned the lady down just as the others growled at them. He jumped off of Midnight, and faced the remaining two, his sword held out in front of him as he moved towards the girl. Before Percival knew it, one of the beasts jumped towards him, and he had thrust his sword just in time to bury it in the beasts stomach just as they both fell to the ground. He heard a small whine from the beast as it died on top of him, and Percival quickly pushed if off to face the last one. "Are you all right?" he managed to ask the woman without taking his eyes off the last beast. He could see that she was bleeding. They needed to get out of there fast so she could be treated.

Felt her eyes shut as their roars halted her screams. Almost now to scared to even scream. Feeling her swallowing going no where. The hairs on her neck rose. The goosebumps peaked. She felt the sting of her arm. The deep claw embedded in her flesh. Her mind was a little to much on whether she was going to survive this than the wound. Felt the sway of her own head still as her eyes danced between the beasts. Jumping out of her skin as the teeth came at her. Felt her heart almost leave her for good. Somewhere in the distance she heard hoof steps again. Her eyes shut tighter, then nothing happened. She opened to find the beast was slain. As if Apollo himself had struck him with his mighty arrow. Her eyes fled around her. It was all a rush a swirl going around her head. Soon fell upon not the sun god, but an entirely different god. Perhaps Ares. Was how he best came to her mind.
Upon his dark steed, came out of nowhere and was undoubtedly her hero. She hadn't been in the midst of battle before nor had she ever really seen it. Not like this. He took to his feet and rose to great heights. Harriet wasn't sure he was to be matched. Then swallowed hardly as a growl came to her ear. Felt the steam blow upon her neck and her eyes then left for a moment from her hero. With the quick steps of this godly man, the beast turned on him. Harriet heard the faint crush of bone with metal. The groan that escaped the beast. She had watched in amazement, but then turned a little at the bloodied sight. It was a little too much. As her head swooned at all that had swirled around her. Felt the burning still upon her head.
Then he spoke as Harriet rose her hand to the spot on the back of her head. Felt her hands shake as she felt the wetness there. Bringing her hand to her eyes slowly as she dreaded the sight. Blood. She tried not to squirm at it. Her hand laid out before them as her eyes tried to look somewhat ok with this as she looked up at him, but she failed badly at it. "Thank-you for coming. I... I believe so... Its just a scratch." She thanked him. She had thought her chances were slim, but he saved her life. Her voice shook with her words along with her bloodied hand. It was just a scratch, she tried to convince herself, but her eyes looked to him for reassurance. For a moment she just saw him. Then the growl came and it shook her. Her eyes shut. She was sure she would have nightmares about this. Her head then swayed a little more, felt her head drifting just a little. She faintly saw the beast dash in a blur towards her. She let out a deep shock of a breath, before her eyes were starting to see black.

"It's just a scratch."
She was delirious, not just from the wound but from the shock of having been attacked by these wild and ferocious beasts. Percival himself had never seen these monsters before. Camelot needed to be alerted. Who knows how many there still are roaming about in the forests and preying on unsuspecting victims? She was looking very weak, and she seemed to be losing a lot of blood.
Percival's head whipped at the sound of the growl, and saw that the girl was losing her consciousness. "Stay with me!" he yelled at her, but it was no use. She was far gone. Then she slumped against him, and Percival knew he needed to act soon, now. He gave the girl a gentle squeeze in the shoulder before facing the one last beast. He could still feel the rush of adrenaline pumping through him, and he knew he can take on this beast by himself... if he could just find an opening. Its huge teeth where just scary, and its massive mouth can easily swallow Percival in one, but there was no way he was backing down.
The beast attacked and Percival gritted his teeth to meet it head on. But just before it could reach him, the monster immediately crumpled to the ground. Then Percival saw the other two soldiers, bow in their hands, and they had just struck the beast to its death with a couple of arrows. "Thank you!" he breathed out. Then he turned to the girl again and scooped her in his arms. "We need to get her to a healer. She's bleeding bad." Camelot was too far away, and she might not make it.
"There's a village not far from here," one of the soldiers said.
"We'll take her there. You lead the way," Percival replied, and then he turned to the other one. "Can you head back to Camelot and tell Sir Leon and the king that we'll be staying the night here to help the girl? Warn them about the beasts as well. Be careful." The other soldier nodded, and then turned around to head back to Camelot.
With the other soldier's help, Percival mounted Midnight and held the unconscious girl in front of him. Then they made their way towards the nearby village where they found an inn. Percival had asked for a vacant room and a village healer who can help them out.

'They say sometimes its hope. Sometimes its luck. I quite believe he was always meant to be there. Like the light in the dark. A hero risking all for little old me. I cannot be grateful enough. For I live to see my family once more. I cannot ever let them down. I cannot surrender. I must Persevere. As my hero did for me.' Slowly Harriet's eyes rolled in her head. She was able to catch the look he gave her that perhaps she had more than just tripped and fell over. If she was not already starting to see black she would be worried. Her eyes also caught a look on these beasts as if he had never looked upon them. Yet, he pushed through all the unknowing and slew them? He saved her. For a faint moment she smiled to lastly see his godly face. Eyes that opened up to keep her safe and on guard. Heard his voice carried to her ears between another growl. There was a moment she blinked to do as he commanded, but she hadn't the self control. Felt her head rest somehow against him. In the dark cave in her head, she was feeling safer now. The nightmares had ceased.
For the time being. As then she felt like she was floating in something close to heaven. There was voices. Her mind slowly rose back enough to mutter a light groan. Her eyes opening slightly, but she wasn't looking through to anything. Her head rocked and her mind vaguely opened to the word. She felt the jolt in the steps that carried her. Felt so safe and warm. As her head curled into his chest. As if any second the nightmares may return. She wanted to protest. She wasn't the one in need of healing. Her mother was! She was unable to find her tongue as her head kept drifting in and out. Then she felt the rush moving and the trees speeding by. Which caused more of her mind to daze at. Wanting to cry out. This was the wrong way, but she just couldn't.
All that felt a matter of moments in her blackened mind. She felt strong hands, yet gentle place her upon something soft. It felt warm where ever she was. Her eyes then opened a little more. Running around all the shadows, trying to focus on at least something. She then felt the pain at her arm. Then the sting and a cry escaped her lungs. It was enough to wake her. Her eyes moved to where her arm was touched. Shut her eyes at the blood, it caused an unsettling in her stomach and let out another cry. She looked around unknowing where she was. "Where am I?" Harriet groaned as her eyes looked around. Licking her dry lips. Then her mind came suddenly at a rush. Her eyes darted a little more. "I shouldn't be here... I need to find Apollo. My mother needs me... I cannot... ahhh. Just lay here.." Harriet spoke in a little panic. As her mind slowly remembered Apollo and the mission to help aid her mother. Her eyes showed the fear for her mother. Her eyes then looked to the face beside her. Then screamed at her arm, before she did what she could to sit up. Then felt her head do a 180. Her hand came to steady her head. As her eyes dazed again. Ceasing her eyes a little shut as the burning sensation returned and boy did it return. Allowing a deep groan from her lips. The flashes of the beast now haunted her thoughts, but she still had the leaping thought for her mother. That was a fear she was most afraid of. As her face then fell worried through the pain.

A rescue wouldn't be much of a rescue at all if the victim wasn't anywhere near safe. So while they had killed the beasts that had attacked her, Percival still didn't feel good about things upon seeing the condition the girl was in. She was in deep shock, and he hoped that the healer could do his best to staunch the bleeding and get her back on her feet in no time.
Pacing back and forth like a worried father, Percival was waiting for the healer to arrive when he heard her groan. He was immediately on her side, and he reached his hand out to stroke her forehead. "Shhh...it's all right now," he gently silenced her, willing her not to panic as was already evident in her voice. There was obvious fear in her eyes, and it did nothing but increase the worry in Percival's own.
She was talking about her mother, which didn't take long for Percival to understand to mean that she had been on an errand when she was attacked in the forest. He needed to ease her mind or else her condition would only get worse. "You're in a village inn. A healer is on his way here to treat you. I am Percival, a knight of Camelot. I'll do all I can to help you...and your mother," he told her as he took her hand in his and gave it a gentle reassuring squeeze. "Who is Apollo? Where is your mother now? I'll send someone to stay with her," he offered. Eventhough he knew he mustn't stress her out with these questions, it was the only way to make sure he got it right, so he could do what needed to be done for her right away.
Then a knock came on the door and in came the tavern owner with the healer, standing behind them was the other soldier. "She's worried about her mother and a certain Apollo. We need to get to them to ease her mind," he told them as he stepped aside to let the healer examine her.

There was the ever looming shadow passing where the faint light was trying to seep through the window. It almost half framed him. Her dazed blurry eyes looked up at him. This darkened hero sent from, well she wasn't going to say it. Felt the wheezing of her head as she let out a groan, which even the action pained her to do. Felt the beginning aches over her body now given time to bruise. Her finger felt numb. Limb. Half wondering did she even have arms. Legs. She felt numb. Then the shear pain upon her arm caused her to come crashing back down. Harriet relished the stroke of her forehead, as she uttered a simply sigh as it soothed her and broke her just for a moment of the pain. His gentle words, her eyes first blurred to his face soon saw him clearly as his words stopped her. Felt her head bury just a little into his hand. As he was like a god, an angel from above. Her hero who was so powerful with a gentle touch.
He stopped her for a moment. Though her mind wasn't completely taken. The sting slowly came back and perhaps brought mostly as she began to get restless again. She couldn't rest when someone needed her. As Harriet's head swooned in circles as her hands help to make her sit up. The next step was to find her legs. The bending of her arm caused another sharp pain, felt the side of her ribs ached. Felt the heaviness in her chest as she coughed a little. Caused a groan to escape her as it pushed on her ribs and she felt her head began to be heavy again. Eyes looked to her hero as he took her hand and squeezed it as he spoke to her. She fabled a weak smile with the flutter of her eyes at his name. Her hero was Percival? She lowered her head and eyes to the bed, escaped a soft breathed sound. "I... You really shouldn't have to... I'm sure it's just a scratch, yes just a scratch... I'm Harriet... Knight? So you are a hero?" Harriet gently shook her head as it spun her head doing anymore. He had done enough. She tried to convince herself again it was a scratch even if she gritted her teeth at the pain. So she slowly accepting it, but she wasn't sure she could trust her mother be safe without her own eyes to see it. As she spoke of being a knight. Her hero. She was beginning to feel she could trust him to help her.
"Apollo is my horse. The monsters spooked him and he took off. Its how I hit my head. Oh NO. What if he was attacked?... My mother's at home, she's been extremely ill... Are we in Willowdale? Our farm is just on the outskirts as you come in from the road to Camelot... Thank-you Percival. I worry it should be me, though. Please make sure she knows I'm ok, I don't want her to get worried. Just get better" Harriet's voice rose a little as she told him who Apollo was. As she placed her hand upon her head. Which led her to a bad thought that Apollo could have been attacked even worse dead. It was not an easy thought. As her eyes searched Percival with concern. Harriet then explained about where her mother was. Village? She was assuming Willowdale, hopefully? As she offered simple enough directions. As it caused the swirl of her head with these words. That she knew she wasn't great shape, just in denial. As she then accepted Percival's help. Believing he would do all he truly could, she couldn't help worrying it should be her. Felt the guilt. As her chest became even heavier. Began to cough repeatedly it hurt so much. As her hand came to her mouth as spot of red fell into her hand. Which rang a lap of shock to flood her. As it scared her now. As a little more blood was coughed up. As her other hand clutched at her midsection. As the burning felt like it swelled her head. She eventually felt her head reach back on the pillow. Letting out painful groans. As she coughed once more. Unable to stop the faint tears that bubbled out. As she heard the echo of the door rattling. The echo of voices. All in this swirl of pain and fear. She searched for Percival. For in his eyes. Was the hope she needed.

"I... You really shouldn't have to... I'm sure it's just a scratch, yes just a scratch... I'm Harriet..."
"Hardly a scratch, Harriet, don't overexert yourself," Percival softly replied hoping to calm her down. She was in so much pain and the knight wished there was something he could do to take it away now.
"Knight? So you are a hero?" Percival couldn't help but smile. He was hardly the hero. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time. "Just doing my duty as a knight of Camelot."
Percival nodded and took note of what she said about Apollo, her horse, and about her mother being extremely sick at home. It was most unfortunate that she had to be attacked by those monstrous beasts while on an errand for her ailing mother. Life can be so cruel sometimes. Of course, that didn't deter Percival. She looked to be terribly in pain, and the healer now was doing everything he can to at least ease her suffering. "Worry not, Harriet. We'll make sure your mother knows where you are, and we'll try our best to find Apollo."
Giving the healer room to work on her, Percival spoke to the other soldier by the door, and gave him instructions to go to their house where her sick mother is. "Find out what her mother needs and get it for her. Tell her we have Harriet, but don't worry her unnecessarily," Percival said as he dropped a small bag of coins in the soldier's hand. "Then after that, you may have to find the horse as well. It's a long shot out there in the forest. Let's hope he's safe and that probably made his way back to their house." The soldier nodded and went on his way. Percival would have wanted to go out and do it himself, but he knew that Harriet was his responsibility now. He can't just leave her alone until he was sure that she was all healed and able to go back home. Looking at her, he was deeply worried. She looked rather worse for wear, and he was afraid to know what else she might be suffering apart from the surface wounds. He hoped the healer was good enough to put her back in tiptop shape. He stood there by the corner, watching silently and worriedly, as the healer started cleaning her wounds and stitching them close.

Harriet groaned in pain as her eyes looked upon Percival as he spoke truth to her. She knew it to be true, even if she was trying to make it not as bad as she ultimately thought it was. Her face fell a little to the understanding, that she was giving up that fight as she was afraid to think it deeply enough. Afraid that this could be worse like she knew in the back of her mind. Her eyes winced a little as she then offered him a nod of her head, as she also winced up a groan. It caused her pain to do. Anything was causing it. She tried to smile as he was wanting to take it away. Then he did just that, distracted her for a good moment with his smile and his words. Half tilting her head to the side deep in the pillow to best see his face. Ran them over, realising she hadn't taken notice of anything else. Maybe if she had, he wouldn't have needed to tell her he was a knight. With her weak arm she groaned a little as rested it upon his arm, trying to be the one to comfort him now. "You risked your life, when you didn't have to... Because of you I have the chance to see my mother and brother again, maybe even apollo... " Harriet spoke gentle as it was less painful as her head swooned dizzily, he helped her focus. As she rubbed her thumb ever so gently. Then her eyes fell to a moment of shyness that she coughed as she lightly expressed a nervous laugh as she admitted to him. "This is embarrassing to admit, but I thought for a moment you were Ares. You turned out to be far greater." Harriet said with a faint blush to her cheeks as she looked up at him through her eyelashes. From early age she was fascinated by myths and legends. Stories given by her father.
Tilting her head a little more and another caress of his massive arm, where she felt her hero doing all he could to continue to save her. If only she was that easy to submit to help, but she was slowly coming to do it. Whilst still had the itch at her feet. Her eyes looked a little sad she couldn't go herself to her mother, but Percival's words did make her happy. Even if she felt a little like she was pushing on to him was a little unfair, he had risked enough and he was going to these lengths because she couldn't? Harriet groaned at the thought. "Just look out for a sign, Bennett Farm... Thank-you Percival." Harriet said to him before she forgot and thanked him, before it caused her some pain now.
Then came the healer. Felt the winching in her chest. As soon came the tug at her arm. Her eyes swelled with tears of pain. Almost biting down to try and remain strong. Her eyes took a peak of the needle going through her skin and the blood. She winced at the sight, turning her eyes as it was causing her stomach to drop. Sweat formed upon her skin and her body jolted in pain just a little. She groaned and winced as her arm was being put back together. Every groan made her groan more as it drove a sharp pain in her ribs. It was blurry again. She heard Percival in the distance. She almost wanted to take a leap and ask him to save her again. She needed the distraction. As she struggled to look for him in her attempt to find his hand, if he would give it. Soon her arm, her head were cleaned and stitched up. Her arm sort of didn't hurt as much. Wrapped up her ribs, after feeling around. It hadn't teared her lungs, it just poked it when she sat and expressed needed to lay down for sometime as there was little to do as ribs healed themselves. After it she felt a little back down to earth. Felt sore, but she could breathe a little easier. The healer encouraged her to cough as though it hurt, it would actually help. As the coughing up blood had ceased now she was laying down. She did not like hearing she had to remain here. Felt her legs restless, but knowing what would happen if she did get to her feet.. She did not like the idea she had to surrender to this. As her face read her detest to remain here. She felt Percival would remain by her side, but she didn't like thinking she was holding up from something. She laid there coming to terms with the situation. Smiling to Percival as she quietly moaned as her eyes looked around the room as if it was holding her back. Then tears slowly came down and a small pain sob escaped her lips. Letting go of Percival and put her hands to her face. 'Ahhh' as it caused a faint sting to her arm. Asking now why did this happen? Feeling guilty for even uttering a single selfish thought.

Her words touched Percival. He may have saved countless other people before as a knight, but somehow, none of their words had struck him as much as Harriet's does. Not that he didn't appreciate them, he did. Harriet's words had just a rather weird effect on him that he couldn't quite explain. Either way, it felt wonderful. It felt truly good. Then she compared him to a certain 'Ares,' and it perplexed him who the person was for a minute there. He only gave her a smile and a nod as he backed away and finished talking to the soldier with her instructions.
When she groaned from the pain, Percival couldn't help but crease his forehead in utter worry. He hardly felt like the hero she thought he was looking at her condition now. Percival knew he had arrived a little too late in the scene. He wasn't fast enough. If he were, he would have probably prevented this, he could have saved her even before those beasts had laid a paw or bared their teeth against her. Percival now felt like he had failed her. Then it came to him. Ares. Was he not the god of war, famous in the many legends for his strength, his physical valor? But then Ares, too, was infamous for being a dangerous force, his insatiable and destructive taste for battles and man-slaughtering. In essence, yes, he might as well be Ares for allowing this suffering to happen to her. And he felt guilty more than anything now. If only there was something else he could than stand there and watch her in agony as the healer work on her.
The healer then gave Percival instructions on caring for Harriet and her wounds, and letting her rest and take it easy for as long as she possibly could. He then left saying he will be visiting her tomorrow to check on her condition, and everyday thereafter until she was fully recovered. As he led the healer out of the room, Percival ask the tavern owner to send them dinner. Then he was left alone with Harriet. What he didn't expect to see when he turned towards her was the steady steam of tears flowing down her cheeks. He held went to her side and held her, hoping he could be a comfort in any way he could. "I'm sorry. I wish I had come to your rescue sooner. You wouldn't be suffering like this if I did," Percival said totally feeling her pain, and somehow feeling strangely responsible for it.

'He first came to me in the vision of Ares. With his strength and courage. He turned out to be much more something Ares never was. A man. A gentleman. There's just something warm and inviting about him. I feel much like the many rocks in the river, but he's looking straight at me. Even when he isn't. I like watching him sleep, the sounds he makes. Even with eyes closed, he makes me feel safe. To be myself. Harriet remained still and eyes upon Percival. A knight, even if she was having a hard time looking past the man. He was unlike any man she had met. He almost made her little world stop. Well paused. Harriet still had her family counting on her, but at least for a couple of moments he made her breathe even for a second. She smiled she wasn't entirely sure what was happening. As she watched him watching her. She was wondering if it was possible, he was speechless. Harriet hoped for the right reasons. She smiled, as there was just a look in his eyes, that she saved him. Her hand ran along his arm as even without any words spoken. She turned her head in the pillow as he nodded with a smile. Maybe he didn't know the stories. It wasn't as much a comparison, she only meant that he had that awe glow of someone with the presence of Ares. Percival came out of nowhere and became his own hero. Her Hero. Made in the moment. As she then flinched her hand as he pulled away and her body was then put back together.
Harriet heard faintly the voices at the door. Not taking in much of the words. As her eyes searched through the room she was wishing to run from and back home. To her mother and maybe even find Apollo. She didn't like not knowing as much as she didn't like just laying here. Felt the day was slowly settling in. She wasn't about to forget the beast and the blood. She suddenly felt a little more helpless. Her hands upon her face as tears came. There was little stopping them, now she had time to think and not be able to do anything else. Her slightly worn mind was now catching up. Her sobs came painfully out of her chest, but in a low sound.
Then he was there. She hadn't seen him through her tears until she felt his gentle caress of his hands. As Harriet unveiled her eyes with her hands. As her faint wet eyes was amazed he was here. He really wasn't leaving. She felt guilty for this, for she half wanted him to stay and knowing there could be someone missing him. She then tried to wipe her tears with her fingers though feeling a couple more tears form instead. As her lips tried to smile as Percival spoke. They made her stop. Looked into his eyes and lose herself. Where if it wasn't for him she wouldn't be anywhere. As a tear rolled down as her hand weakly went to his cheek. "This isn't your fault. You came, that's all that matters. You saved my life. You have done more for me than I could have ever asked for and your here now, I hardly know why... But I... I'm glad you are." Harriet spoke softly with a slight gentle shake of her head. Her hand motioned towards his cheek as her other one wiped some more tears as she even smiled a little. She was amazed how he stayed and continued to help her. Even her mother. Apollo. Amazed at his selfless acts to help her. She wasn't sure why, he did not have to and yet he did it anyways. Then she smiled a little brighter as she was glad he was doing it. There was something peaceful and calming about him. He could make this time pass a lot smoother. "Are you staying? I don't want to hold you up. Someone might be waiting." Harriet asked as her eyes looked up at him. As she settled a little in his touch. She didn't want it to stop, but she didn't want to be a reason someone misses him, truly misses him.

Percival felt heat rising from his neck up to his cheeks at her words. He had saved quite a number of people before, but Harriet's words felt like a sweet song playing in his ears. Percival had to try his best not to show how much it affected him, but he felt like he was failing. "I was only doing my duty," he spoke. When he realized that sounded rather callous, he cleared his throat wanting to make certain she wouldn't misunderstand it to mean he was forced or obligated to rescue her. "You were in grave danger. No man in his right mind would leave you like that. I am glad to be there, though like I said, I wish I had gotten there sooner."
Then she touched his cheek, and Percival was stunned, or more like mesmerized at how tender her touch felt like. She still continued to cry, and Percival wished he could find some way to stop the tears from falling. Boldly, he reached a hand out to her face and joined her fingers in wiping the wetness there. "Please stop crying. I can't bear seeing you like this. Everything is all right now. I promise you that," he spoked gently, a small smile on his face as he met her eyes. He felt like her eyes searched through him, through his soul, and Percival felt shy, knowing that he would never measure up to what she thought he was -- her hero.
"Are you staying? I don't want to hold you up. Someone might be waiting."
"Of course, I'm staying. I can't leave you all alone like this," he replied. Did she really think that he would just leave her like this? No, Percival would never be fully at peace until he knows that she was finally well and out of harm's way. "I've already sent word to Camelot that it may take a while for me to get back." He wasn't sure if she meant someone to be a woman or something, so he just answered in the best way he could. No one but the King and probably the other knights are expecting him to be back after patrol for a drink at The Rising Sun, but since he had sent the soldier ahead to inform them, they need not worry about his whereabouts now. Then with another smile, he stood up. "Well, you need to get some rest now. I'll be in the next room. You just ring that bell if you need anything, and I'll come running," he told her before turning towards the door.

Harriet sank further into the bed as her hands wiped at another tear, failing to really hide them as she usually could. Her eyes looking over Percival so close, beside her. He was amazingly comforting than she ever thought someone could be, nerved really she had only met him. Her eyes lightly fell as she admired his own shyness, more humbled nature. She expressed a smile, her humbled hero. For what ever led him to do it, he still saved her life. There was no way that was off putting. Nor made admiring him lessen. "Not every man, would have been as brave. Had it not been for you Percival, things could have been a lot worse… Please don't blame yourself. You couldn't of predicted it... Least its given me this chance.." Harriet spoke gently as her hand ran over his rough yet warm cheek, before falling slowly down to his chest as she spoke of this chance.
Letting her own hand drop and allowing him the honour, as she was rather lost in the moment. As he wiped her tears. He was just so kind. Harriet's throat was caught and a bit dry as Percival spoke of how it affected him. She swallowed her nerves and nodded faintly trying to agree as her tears slowly settled down. "I'll try..." Harriet spoke softly as she smiled through the tears that were slowing down, he really was making this ok. "I'm just a little concerned about my mother... My family depends on me... I... If its anyones fault. It. Is. Mine." Her eyes darted a little around the room with a couple extra sprung tears as she spoke of fault. She did take that shortcut, but there was little she could do now. As her eyes then traced back to Percival, gave a warm smile as her tears truly settled. "But I see now... My mother is in great hands... Thank-you." Harriet beamed a little brighter as she spoke, as she felt how gentle his hand was that had saved her with such strength. As she spoke low her thank-you, with then a few little light tears came. She felt his gentle smile, felt with the little beam of his own eyes, it caused her to be in awe of him. Feeling these weird tingles, he was her hero. Feeling as she moved within his hand. Not wishing he'd stop. Yet felt guilty if she asked it. He had done enough. He went above and beyond.
Then Harriet did smile. It was rather hard to hide. She was a little overjoyed as he spoke of staying. Maybe she showed a little too much. Blushing, she really didn't want him to leave. Suddenly she felt even more sunk in the bed, Percival may be left to pull her out. Harriet laughed softly at the thought and not surprised he would do it. As he spoke of Camelot it distracted her tears to stop as she looked up from her pillow. Wondering why he didn't seem to be talking about his family? Were they somewhere else? They must truly miss him and he must be really brave, for she could not do that. Or so well. Wondering what his mother was like to have raised such a man. "But I.. Don't understand. Doesn't your family live in Camelot? Won't they miss you?" Harriet asked a little confused. Maybe she had heard wrong as he then stood or maybe she had done something wrong. When he spoke she then realised. Harriet thought it was sweet he wanted her to rest, but she was frightened to close her eyes. Bell? She then smiled softly to the little bell beside her. Tracing it lightly with her fingers. His last words caused a sensation of sorts. Her hero, with no questions asked. It was hard watching him leave, she waited until he had walked a little out the door. Before Harriet then rang the bell three times. A fourth just to be sure. "There's enough room, please stay... It may be some time before I can close my eyes… Will you eat with me? Didn't I hear something about food! I.. um... Would you mind, please? You must be thirsty as well." Harriet spoke up as her hand patted the space beside her. She didn't want him locked up in his room bored. Nor could she so easily close her eyes without the fear of nightmares. She remarked softly as then did remember something about food. As she found herself rather hungry. Must have been the trauma. Harriet's hand then moved to the jug of water beside her bed, but she couldn't manage. She felt utterly useless as she asked him if he wouldn't mind helping. As she also offered to share which made her feel a little better in asking.

Harriet was much to kind and gracious that Percival couldn't help but wish he could have done something more for him. But as it is, this was all he could do. Find her a healer and keep her company until she heals. He knew the King would understand what held him up from his duties in the castle. He was after all taking care of a citizen of Camelot. Still Harriet's words made Percival's heart swell with gladness, and the gentle touch of her hand on his arm and cheek, resting on his chest, it felt wonderful.
When she voiced her concern about her mother, Percival gentle hushed her again. "It is not your fault, Harriet. Rest assured that your mother will be fine. Brom, the guard I sent, will make sure she's taken cared of while you're here recovering." He knew that she needed to stop worrying or else it will only stress her out, so Percival tried his best to comfort her. She was already all banged up herself to even worry about others. While her concern for her mother was a given, Percival had to tell her she has no cause to worry now. "You rest your pretty little head and focus on getting better. The sooner you're healed, the sooner you can return home."
"But I.. Don't understand. Doesn't your family live in Camelot? Won't they miss you?"
Percival smiled when Harriet asked about his family. With her own concern for her mother, she must be wondering why he wasn't talking much about his own. "I don't really have a family anymore. I lost them the first time Morgana raided Camelot with those army of immortal men," he replied with a small smile, trying to keep the sadness at bay at the memory. He didn't want her to worry about him now.
When she asked that he eat with her, Percival nodded all too willingly. Truth be told, he'd rather stay here and make sure she was eating well herself. He just didn't want to come off as rude, staying in her room without being invited. But now that she did, Percival was only too happy to oblige. As if on cue, a knock sounded on the door, and Percival opened it to see a maid carrying a tray full of delicious smelling food. There was porridge and some stew, a generous plate full of sliced fruits. Percival took the tray from her and set it by the table near Harriet's bed. "Here, let me help you up a bit so you can eat and drink properly," he said as he reached both his arms out to her. Gently and slowly so as not to hurt her, he scooped her back in his arms and then propped the pillows on her back so she could sit up a bit before lowering her down. "Comfortable?" he asked as he held the glass of water before her waiting for her to take a drink.

Harriet was sure if there was more Percival could do he would do it. Already he had done more than enough and slowly she would heal. Having him here at an arms length, well maybe even closer as Harriet coyly smiled. That it would make healing a little more bearable. At least keep her in bed. Somehow. As she lightly hummed, he made her relax with how he spoke and acted. Relaxation was something she didn't have a great deal in her life not really since her father died and her mother need taken care of. There was nothing she wouldn't do nor the lengths for her family. But this little sense of peace was nice. As Harriet felt something that made her throat stop as her hand fell to his chest, causing her own to rise as she coyly smiled as her eyes lingered away. Not understanding what any of it meant. As she regained her throat gave up a light cough. As her hand moved to her ribs as it hurt, but as the doctor said it would help. She was failing to see how, but she had little choice.
Soon her coughs settled and somehow in a weird way she felt a little better. As she looked back at him in some sort of trance as he hushed her and said all he could to make her feel better. She was trying to form the words, but she failed to speak. As she blushed through her dainty smile as his words calmed her mind. Letting 'it is not your fault' really sink in. Sometimes it takes another to say it. She then nodded. Her dainty smile grew with a breath of joyous laugh as he spoke of her pretty head. Finding it endearing such a strong man could say such delightful things. As her eyes bubbled with tears of a little more happiness. "I will... Thank-you... Tor should hopefully be home soon. To take over." Harriet happily responded even if his words sent her in a little rush of joy, she did agree stressing would only make it worse for all. "My Brother! He was away when it happened." Otherwise it probably would have been him.
Harriet then was taken back by Percival's words. No family. She suddenly felt a different kind of pain and it was all his. It was terrible, it was rather heartbreaking to say the least and admired how he smiled as if it didn't hurt him. That he didn't want to worry her. She motioned her hand to take his to hold it and kiss it with her lips. As her eyes sprang little tears for him, she felt the pain in her heart for him and he was so strong. So strong. So kind. So gentle. This was why. "You lost them all? I'm so sorry... You must really miss them, as I miss my father... They would be proud of the man you've become, who you'll continue to become... If you ever need anything you can call on me, my family and know your not alone. Its the least I can do for saving my life." Harriet spoke softly as she looked up at him wondering how he got his strength as she held his hand near her heart. Wishing just a piece of it. Extending an offer if he ever needed anything, he simply needed to ask and she would be there.
Blinked the tears away as Percival then agreed to stay. In fact he seemed rather thrilled, which Harriet couldn't hide her little grin at the thought, but he was to distracted by the knock at the door. Harriet soon smelled the food. Felt her stomach rolled. At least her appetite wasn't destroyed, if anything it doubled in size. Harriet watched in silent amazement as Percival fussed over her. Dismissing the maid and placing the food beside Harriet on the table. It was rather beautiful to watch. Ok and then he picked her up. It caused for sheer silence on her part. A bit of shock. Letting out a little soft laugh at how endearing it was. Secretly liking the fact he lifted her as if she was a feather and yet took care as if she could break like a porcelain doll. There was no denying he was strong as she settle back into a better position. She looked at him with the red still a little on her cheeks as she was slowly catching her breath from that unexpected ride. Almost wondered if she could ask for a repeat and she blushed a little more. Before clearing her throat. "Yes. Thank-you." Harriet replied softly with a sweet little smile. Felt utterly cared for and oddly enjoyed it. As she took the glass gentle and sipped on it. Feeling better for it. Then rested the glass and felt more comfy. "Well, this all looks lovely and hmmm, smells good. Especially the stew and the bread. If you wouldn't mind? Then please get yourself comfortable, what interests you?" Harriet asked though didn't like to feel she was hassling him and felt bad she was the only comfortable one. As her hand just managed to snag a couple of strawberries on the edge of the table with little pain. Eating one and handed on to Percival as she asked what interest him? As if it would make him clearer to know what foods he liked.

Percival was quietly assessing her situation from the way she was responding to his words. All he wanted was to calm her down, get her rested. That way recovery would be fast and easy. The healer hadn't given them the exact date for when Harriet would be safe to get up and go home, and Percival himself didn't want to rush her. He wanted to make sure she was all cleared by the healer and that she was feeling mighty fine before he take her home. Percival had made sure her mother was well taken cared of while she was away. And now, she had mentioned a certain Tor, her brother she said. That had eased Percival's mind somehow. To have another one of her family to take care of her mother was better than for a random soldier of Camelot, a stranger. The soldier Brom would be free to take and bring messages for him. "I'm glad to know your mother has your brother to take care of her in your absence. Brom will see to it that they are well-informed of your situation," he replied to assure her. That was all Percival can do now while she recovers.
At the mention of the loss of his family, she had reached out to take his hand, and Percival quite unconsciously held it out to her. The kiss she had planted was so soft, so gentle, and it spoke of something that Percival couldn't quite explain. Nevertheless, it somehow made him feel a whole lot better. He smiled at her words. "Thank you, Harriet. That means a lot to me," To be honest, he was at a lost for words. Sure, he may have rescued her, but he had not expected her to treat him like this, like a friend. He didn't want her to feel like she owed him her life. He did it because it was the right thing to do. Now, he would never oblige her or impose on her as payment for him helping her from those beasts. It wasn't like Percival.
He hoped she didn't mind him carrying her a bit like that to help her sit up. Percival had acted on impulse, forgetting his manners with the maiden. He had realized that belatedly, and he was now expecting her to react strongly, but when it didn't came, he breathed a sigh of relief. She had thanked him instead, and Percival smiled back. He had grabbed a nearby chair and situated himself beside the bed as he took the spoon and started stirring the stew to cool it down. He took the strawberry she offered and popped it into his mouth. "I eat anything really," he replied with another smile. He scooped some stew into the spoon and held it in front of her. "Do you mind if I...? You don't look well enough to be moving your hands about..." He wasn't so sure if Harriet would be okay with Percival feeding her her food. She didn't look like she could manage it well anyway. It was the least he could do to alleviate the pain she was feeling.

There was no way Harriet was going to get use to looking up at him. Her hero. She saw the need in his eyes. The concern. The need to make everything alright and to comfort her. It was his own little battle trying to figure out how and if he could. Harriet half wished to be the one needing to calm him down, but felt his little fuss over her endearing. She was still young to really know any better, but she never thought to meet such a man. Someone like him needed to be cherished. A strong man with a gentle heart wasn't easy to find. She settled back with her eyes quite glued to him. Smiling as Percival spoke of her brother. From first glimpses he reminded her of her brother. He was also strong and gentle. Just something different in the eyes, Harriet just couldn't quite figure it out. "But not too informed? Best they don't worry" Harriet question half heartedly as she smiled a little concerned if her family knew the full extent. Least for now.
She held his hand so close to her heart, it was so comforting and so gentle. As her hand then caressed his out of her control as she caught her throat. Felt how rough it was, but finding it a beautiful thing. Felt the pain of his lose. Harriet then smiled as Percival smiled at her words. Harriet was shy. She was quiet. She never asked for help. She was who she was. One thing she did was take care of others. She beamed at his words, was all she tried to do was to comfort. Why not when she can bring a smile out like that. "It is my pleasure." Her voice uttered softly with the blush of her cheeks. Motioning to kiss his hand again, felt a warm sensation between breaths. Even if it sent tons of butterflies. It warmed her heart. "Even heroes shouldn't feel alone all the time." Harriet spoke softly as she shyly looked up through her eye lashes. Licking her lips before her eyes ran off a little. Causing a nervous smile at the thought, with pink cheeks.
Harriet then felt more at ease once Percival found himself a seat and was now on his way to being comfortable. Blushed as he smiled at he thank-you and secretly laughed, maybe he had read her mind. As her eyes watched him. Rested her head back a little. She could simply just remain and watch him. Taking care of her. Usually she didn't wish for it, but she liked it. She blushed. Smiled softly as he stirred the stew and took the strawberry from her hand. Causing her taste buds to slowly water. Harriet laughed softly from his words. Blushed as she rather liked watching him eat. Food was a part of her life. It was able to create moments just like this. Bring people together. "Really? I'll have to hold you to that. Maybe I can cook for you sometime... Um... If you... Don't mind of course." She offered well when she was back on her feet at least. If he loved food as her family and she did, he was good company to keep. Baking and cooking, was just soothing for her. Enjoyable to say the least. As Percival held out the spoon before her as he spoke. Harriet was then stunned out of her thoughts. Her tongue was twisted as generally the right thing would be to say no, I'm fine. Not helpless. As Harriet blushed she just couldn't speak, as she opened her mouth and she really quite liked it. Even if it was a touch embarrassing, it was just too sweet. Unexpected, but really sweet. She then took the bit of stew. Felt warm and delicious. Swallowed it with a smile. As her eyes watched him shyly. Although it could do with a little bit of seasoning. "I... don't actually, but so long as you also eat..." Harriet said honestly surprised she didn't mind, but her caring nature still needed to make sure he was taken care of as well. She then tried to reach for her bag, but it was too far. As she ached in pain.
