.:Name of Character:. Igraine Pendragon, nee Igraine du Bois .:Nick Name:. None .:Age:. At time of death, 27 .:Race:. Camelotian .:Status:. Royalty
| ~ ~ | Appearance | ~ ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Igraine is of average height with feminine features. She has blonde hair that, when unbound, falls to her mid-back. She has blue eyes which she has passed onto her son, Arthur, along with her hair color. .:Height:. 5 foot 5 inches .:Portrayed by:. Alice Patten
| ~ ~ | Personality | ~ ~ |
.:Personality:. Igraine holds a quiet strength about her. She had been raised as a proper princess in her parent’s court in Cornwall. Yet growing up with two older brothers had toughened her up quite a bit. She isn’t the first to jump into an argument but, if her family or friends are threatened, she will rise to defend them. She has something of a maternal air about her. .:Strengths:. Love- Igraine deeply loves he family. She had always been close with her brothers, which contributed to their distaste of Uther after her death. She loves her husband and son without question and would do whatever is needed to protect them, even if it means her death. Patience- This virtue had been drilled into her since an early age. It hadn’t always served her in her youth but after her marriage it had become useful. She was her husband’s rational side, as she liked to refer to herself. .:Weaknesses:. Love- Although her ability to love is one of her greatest strengths, it is also one of her worst weaknesses. It was her love for her husband that drove her to accept Nimueh’s help to birth Arthur. And it was her love for her unborn son that allowed her to look past the possibly negative outcomes of his birth. Combat- Cornwall was a very privileged court during her youth, which tilted her education in the more traditional direction. She was not trained in combat as some of the northern ladies were and would not be able to defend herself with a sword. The extent in which she could defend herself would be with a dagger that she used to keep in her boot when riding. But even then her attack would be limited. .:Magic Abilities:. None. .:Special Skills:. Organization, needlework, level headedness- In short, aspects that were desired in a queen. .:Accents:. English, that of the upper class.
| ~ ~ | History | ~ ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Cornwall .:Family:. King Amlawdd (deceased)- father Queen Isabelle (deceased)-mother Tristan (deceased)-brother Agravaine-brother King Uther (deceased)-husband King Arthur-son
.:Occupation:. Queen .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot .:History:. Igraine was born to King Amlawdd and Queen Isabelle of Cornwall. She was their third and last child. She was the only princess of her kingdom as her other siblings, Tristan and Agravaine, were males. Growing up she was instructed in the womanly arts of her time: needlework, how to run a household, childrearing, etc. She was very close with her two older brothers during her childhood and rarely wished to be out of their sight. But, despite her fondest wish, she was not to remain in Cornwall with them forever.
As she grew older she gained male attention in the form of marriage proposals. An alliance with Cornwall would prove beneficial in many cases and, with her in the package, quite a few noblemen stepped up. Yet it was the prospect of an alliance with newly conquered Camelot that caught Amlawdd’s attention. Igraine was then shipped out from Cornwall to her betrothed’s recently acquired land.
There, not after long, she found herself forming feelings of love for Uther. She admired his love of both his kingdom and of her. Yet their physical love continued to produce nothing much to both her despair and shame. It was after speaking with the famed sorceress Nimueh that they both decided to use the Cup of Life to beget a son. Yet there had been a warning attached to using the Cup- a life must be taken for a life to be conceived. Knowing that her life could be the one to be forfeited she still insisted using the Cup in order for her child to live. A few months later, much to her delight, Igraine was able to announce that she was with child. Her pregnancy passed without trouble and all seemed to be well going into the birthing. She was delivered of a healthy baby boy, the son desired by herself and her husband. Yet despite of not contracting childbed fever or hemorrhaging her health began to fail almost immediately after her the birth. It wasn’t half a day after her son’s birth that she died, giving her life for her son to live.
