.:Name of Character:. Lord Aidan d'Amory .:Nick Name:. Aidan .:Age:. Twenty three .:Race:. Camelotian .:Status:. Nobility
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Aidan is tall and quite slender but still rather muscular. It isn’t quite as obvious as he would like it to be, but he’s too lazy to do any training. He has light blue eyes and dark brown curly hair that’s constantly getting in his eyes but he’s been told it suits him so he likes it just fine. Much to the annoyance of his servants, he has a fair amount of stubble that he insists on being just so. Aidan takes a lot of pride in his appearance and is very conscious about his leg. Due to an accident in his childhood it was disfigured - a broken bone was not set properly, and therefore couldn’t heal properly. It is hidden by his clothing, but gives him a permanent limp. .:Height:. 6' .:Portrayed by:. Richard Madden
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. As a noble, he is proud of his heritage and thinks he is above those of a lower status. He often projects his own insecurities onto his servants, often leading him to appear cold and unfeeling towards them. Aidan often finds it difficult to express himself and rarely communicates his true feelings especially to his family. Any self-doubt is regarded as a weakness and so he will often over-compensate for this and strive to gain as much attention as possible. Aidan is not one to take responsibility for his mistakes or for the way his life has turned out. He blames his injuries for the majority of problems he has because of how it prevented him from becoming a knight, and also because of how he thinks people will regard him. .:Strengths:.Aidan is in possession of an intelligent mind, and has a varied pool of knowledge. While recovering from his injury, he was forced to spend a few weeks bed bound and with nothing to occupy himself but his father’s books. This instilled in him a love of learning and an interest in history and given him a good judgement and open mindedness, although he can still be selfish and subjective.
Despite how he feels about himself and his family, Aidan can be quite good fun around his friends. He likes to impress people and show them what he’s worth and has a desperate desire to improve himself. He is able to distinguish the two parts of himself – the Aidan who feels inferior to his family, and the Aidan who wishes to make something out of himself, and, when around those he trusts is able to accept himself and enjoy life more. .:Weaknesses:.Aidan doesn’t connect entirely with people, or at least not in the way that everyone else seems to be doing so. He’s not empathetic towards people unless he is close to them, and even then he finds it difficult. Despite his protestations, he’s still waiting for his father to accept him and appreciate him for who he is, rather than see him simply as the second son. Throughout his life he’s felt inferior to his brother, especially after the accident and has never thought of himself as good enough.
He has a tendency towards superficiality and often judges people by their appearance, this again, is because of his own feelings of self-loathing because of his injury and the expectations he has of other people. His family have always thought very little of him, so he expects others to do the same.
By trying to be the centre of attention he can often make rash and irresponsible decisions, often leading himself into trouble and not being able to get out of it. More often than not, his brother is having to help him. He is almost completely reliant on his brother. .:Magic Abilities:. None .:Special Skills:. Being nobility and mixing within these circles has given him skills in diplomacy and observation. Shortly after he broke his leg he became interested in medicine (helped by his father's varied and extensive library), although he soon became disinterested, however, he does know the basics and would be an advantage in the event of any accidents. .:Accents:. Southern English
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot .:Family:. Lord Fion d'Amory, father Lady Ellyn d'Amory, mother Lord Struan d'Amory, older brother .:Occupation:. None .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot .:History:. Aidan d’Amory is the youngest son of Lord Fion and his wife, Ellyn. As the youngest son he will not inherit anything after his father dies, instead, the entire estate will pass over to his brother Struan. He is eleven years younger than his brother and so the two of them have never been close, especially as Aidan has always been jealous of his brother’s relationship with their father and the fact that he is the sole heir. Aidan was therefore a rather reclusive child and spent most of his time alone or with the children of other nobles.
Being a younger son it was expected that he would become a knight of Camelot, and started training for this as a boy. Becoming a knight was always seen as a way to not only prove himself, but also gain independence from his family. However, when he was eleven he fell out of a tree and broke his right leg. The bones did not heal properly leaving him with a misshapen leg and a permanent limp. His injuries meant that he was unable to continue his training, and therefore unable to become a knight and so remains reliant on his family.
It was now obvious that he would never amount to anything, and perhaps more obvious that he was a drain on his family, until he was rather drunk with a friend who suggested he find a rich woman to end all his troubles. His friend had not meant his words seriously, but they had stuck with Aidan and to a young man with nothing else seemed like the only thing to do. Besides, it couldn’t that hard...
