Celyn is tall, dark, and what quite a few of his subjects would consider handsome. Celyn has muscular build and pale complexion. He has dark brown eyes and equally brown hair that has a habit of doing whatever it wants. Being a prince, and heir to the Sugalen throne, he takes pride in his appearance and likes to look his best. In his late teens he discovered he looked rather fetching with stubble, and so while it is a pain for his servants to maintain, he likes it.

In general, Celyn has a happy-go-lucky nature. Since a child he has been taught combat skills, as well as more intellectual subjects to help him grow into a fit king. Despite enjoying such studies, he is easily bored and became somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. His over-confidence puts him in dangerous situations, giving him full faith in his own abilities whereas in actual fact pure luck usually saves the day.

To his people and his family he lives up to expectations – taking pride in his heritage and responsibilities, yet he never wanted to be king and in private often wishes he could have lived another life. He loves his country and his people, yet hates the thought of having such responsibility, and is all too aware that his impulsive nature could prove fatal to his country.

He had his heartbroken when he was twenty three by a young woman, discovering she was working for an enemy of his father’s and using him to gain information. Due to this, he has become quite cynical to the ways of love and rather distrustful of women in general.

His academic studies have given him knowledge in politics and the cultures of other kingdoms, allowing him to easily move within various social circles. He is an avid historian, and fully believes that all human nature can be found within history, and uses this to understand the people around him. This helps him during his travels, as he is able to absorb the ways of other people, thereby hiding his true identity from them and escape the pressures of his title.

- Reckless and quick to jump into situations without considering the outcome, or simply because he’s looking for an adrenaline rush. He’s easily bored, but found out that putting himself in danger is usually quite good fun.
- Proud and overestimates his own abilities, leading him to make stupid decisions and being too proud to change them. He hates losing face in front of people, especially his subjects, so even if he knows something is a bad idea he would rather do it, than admit his stupidity in the first place.
- Selfish and takes people for granted. All his life he has been used to people doing what he tells them, and when they don’t, he doesn’t quite understand why.

Prince Celyn was born to Brychan ap Llewellyn, king of Sugales, and his wife, Anwen. He is the eldest of three children and only son, making him the heir to the Sugalen throne. Consequently, he has spent his whole life being prepared to take the throne. Since childhood he has been trained in the usual skills: sword fighting and archery, as well as being taught English, French and the history of his country. Everything he learnt was to ensure he became a great king. Despite this, for most of his life, Celyn never wanted to take the throne. He had always felt forced into it, especially by his father and his high expectations of him. These feelings have never been voiced, however and by his mid-teens he was starting to accept his fate.

When Celyn was seventeen, his father was injured in a hunting accident and nearly died. Although the king made a slow recovery, it gave Celyn an opportunity to fully understand the role of the king, as well as realise his own responsibilities towards his people.
While he may have come to appreciate his role as Sugales’ Crown Prince, he is still adamant that he will life as he pleases and enjoy having as few responsibilities as he can before he takes the throne.

It has always been an ambition of his to explore the world, something that will be impossible once he is king, as he will be forced to spend the majority of his time in Sugales. He has therefore chosen to see all that he can of Albion before his father dies, and he must become king.
