Arthur was in a euphoric mood! Words could not express how happy he was. They had been waiting years for this . . . YEARS! And finally, the day was soon upon them. Days. It was only a matter of days! It all felt so surreal. As if it was too good to be true. As if at one moment, he would wake up and realize that this was all just a dream. Until then, he would embrace it though. He was about to be married to the woman he loved above all else in this world. The woman who would always be the light in every dark situation. And with all the darkness that had surrounded Camelot and their lives, he needed it. He needed her. Soon, she would be his wife and queen. Everything they had been talking about and planning would actually come true. It was no longer a matter of 'if' it could happen. Nor 'when' it would happen. It was happening soon. After the two days of jousting which commenced tomorrow. Guests had already been coming, and Arthur was extremely glad to see who had been attending.
One of which, was Isadora and her family. Once again, he acknowledged the difficulty in her journeying all the way here, for she had responsibilities in Gwent as well as an infant and that was never easy to travel with. But she had attended, and he was so very honored by her presence. She had come once before for his birthday, and then stayed for the funeral, and then the coronation. This time, there was only the joust and of course, the wedding. There would be no traumatic event. Nothing that would darken this day. For soon, Camelot will have gained a queen after over twenty years. Speaking of Isdaora and her family, Arthur found himself having some time to spare and so would take the opportunity to see her and thank her for coming. Between the preparations for the wedding, and the preparations for the jousting tournament . . . time had not been something the King had a great deal of. But some things were important and required it. Such as greeting the two princesses of Gwent.
He had been informed by her guards that she was in the gardens with her daughter, and once Arthur entered, sure enough . . . he saw the two of them. He instantly smiled at the scene before him. And couldn't help but feel excited that perhaps one day soon, he too would have that joy of being a parent. In the meantime, he would continue to be happy for Isadora and the family that she had developed. And the adorable princess she brought into this word. "Lady Isadora, Lady Sabina," he greeted to the two of them as he approached closer and lowered his head in a bit of a nod. "Has it really been that long?" He asked a bit teasingly, commenting on the size of Sabina. She was already crawling and moving around on all fours, where as the last time he had saw her and held her, she'd been so incapable of both. Only a tiny baby in his arms. Children truly did grow so fast; or time just passed at a remarkabley quick pace.

As soon as their invitation had arrived, Isadora had begun making arrangements to attend the wedding. It was not something she had any intention of missing, not when she knew how important it was for her friend to have some joy in his life. So many unfortunate things had happened to him of late, she knew that this was a huge step in his life, and she needed him to know that while there would be those who would oppose his decision, she would support him irregardless. Anything that brought him such happiness as she felt with Alistair was worth trashing a few traditions.
And so they'd set out on the long journey, this time with a much more fidgety and restless baby tucked up in the carriage with her mother, they had both arrived tired. After putting the little princess down for a much-needed nap, she had decided they needed some quiet play-time, and remembering the place she'd first told Alistair he was going to be a daddy, she'd decided the gardens would be the perfect place to let Sabina play. She loved being outside, and she knew that getting some fresh air would help her to acclimatize to the strange place.
So it was that Isadora came to be kneeling in a fresh patch of grass near the walkway, with Sabina playing in the grass just in front of her. Isadora picked one of the flowers, and used it to tickle the little girl's nose playfully. Sabina giggled, reaching out a pudgy hand for the flower as her mother looked up in the direction of incoming footsteps. She smiled, letting the flower slip from her fingers as she recognized the approaching man. "King Arthur," she greeted him warmly, a little surprised to see him here but pleased nonetheless.
She smiled at his comment about her daughter, looking back down at her...it seemed like she hardly noticed her growing each day, but when she thought about it, she knew he was right. "She grows so fast! I swear, if I blink I'm going to miss something." She replied laughingly as she looked back up at the king, before she got to her feet to greet him properly. Sabina looked up too, but felt no compulsion to get up. Why should she stand at attention for her inferiors? Also, she hadn't mastered standing yet.

Arthur chuckled with amusement as she spoke of how quickly they grew up. He could only imagine. And he figured it was a more difficult thing for a parent. "Before you know it, she will be walking." For she looked to be nearing that stage soon enough. It was a highlight in any parent's life, when their child walked for the first time. As was other things such as first words, first birthdays . . . so many things to look forward to for Isadora and her husband. Things that Arthur hoped he could one day very soon relate to. He looked at Sabina for a few more moments before looking at Isadora as she rose to her feet. "She is certainly growing more beautiful since the last I saw her as well," he complimented, as he used the same adjective to describe her when he first met her, and held her.
"Apart from coming to see Sabina once more, I did also come to thank you for accepting our invitation." Our because, it was his wedding with Guinevère. Isadora had been one of the few people who knew at an early time. It had been by complete accident, for he had let it slip out in his moment of rage, but she knew none the less. He also was well aware of the fact that there would be no judgment from her. That she was one of the few people who understood how sometimes, ones heart controlled everything else. For she had also married someone that broke all traditions of the land. A man who was once a commoner. He obviously did not judge her for it, despite his tensions with Alistair, but it made him all the more happy that she had come. Because it meant everything to him to have such close friends partake in these celebrations.

Isadora made a face when he pointed out that the little princess would be walking soon; it wasn't that she didn't want her daughter to grow up, but did she have to do it so fast? "I hope not too soon." She answered with a rueful smile, looking down at the baby, who had now lost interest in the adults chatting and was playing with the flower she'd stolen from her mother moments ago. Big people could be so boring when they weren't amusing her.
Isadora smiled when he complimented the baby, again. "You want to watch who you say that around; her daddy is a little overprotective. He's already decided she's joining a nunnery." She laughed lightheartedly. Alistair might actually mean it, but she knew he'd lighten up in a few years; if not voluntarily, then she might have to 'encourage' him a bit. She knew it was just because he loved her so much.
She nodded when he thanked them for attending, and smiled happily. "Thank you for inviting us. I wouldn't have missed it." She replied, she knew that Arthur disliked having Alistair in his home, almost as much as Alistair disliked being there. But they both put aside their feelings for her. "I'm so happy for you and Guinevère. I know this has been a long time coming, and I'm so pleased that you found a way to work things out."

Arthur once again smiled with amusement when she spoke of the overprotective nature of Sabina's father. He wasn't too surprised to hear that. He had seen the druid. But more so, he had heard from Isadora the way he is. And of course the constant guards surrounding her. That was definitely something. Though at the same time, he could relate. He wanted to forever protect Guinevère from any potential danger, but knew that he could not constantly be around her. Which was why he was so very fortunate to have the knights that he did, to protect her and ensure her safety. While it didn't work so well in the case of the Lamia, Arthur knew they were strong and honorable. And that they fulfilled their duties diligently. "That is a shame," he said, truly hoping that her husband was not actually serious about that. "If she does go, I hopefully it will not be for too long then." Because, a woman confined away in a nunnery for her entire life? That seemed a bit, limiting. But of course, he was not one to judge or offer advice about the future of another man's child. He could see first hand what a wonderful mother Isadora was.
He wasn't sure how it was possible but his smile grew when she spoke of how happy she was for him and Guinevère. She was right. They had both waited for this for so incredibly long that it truly now felt like every hope they ever had was coming true. "Thank you," he reiterated. Though this time the gratitude was for a different reason. "I think you of all people understand the hardships that such a relationship entail." In terms of being accepted by the public and such. He knew she had been through the same thing with Alistair. "Which is why I value your presence and congratulatory words, above all others." Because no one else even came close to relating. Most relationships, there was not an issue of rank and such. But with them, it had been. "I am glad that we have both found a way to overcome it." Because out of all Alistair's many, many crimes . . . Alistair loved Isadora, and he knew she loved him. So in that way, he was happy for them both to have been able to embrace that and not deny it. Just as he had done with Guinevère.

Isadora laughed at Arthur's reply about the nunnery. No, Isadora didn't have any intention of sending her daughter off to the same place she was raised. Alistair knew that Isadora had spent most of her teenage years at a monastery, and once, he had spoken against such a method of child-rearing. Now that he was a father with a daughter, he seemed much more concerned about letting any man near his daughter. Isadora found it highly amusing, since she was fairly certain that he wouldn't be able to hold his strict position when the time really came.
"I'm sure it won't come to that...he has a habit of overreacting." She smiled, she wasn't too concerned for her daughter's future freedom. If she took after either of her parents, she would be a force to be reckoned with...not that Isadora was looking forward to reckoning with her. Her smile remained in place when he accepted her thanks and congratulations, and she knew he'd know how heartfelt her words were.
"And I'm sure that soon enough we'll have more reasons to come and visit...and maybe Sabina will have someone closer to her own age to play with?" She grinned impishly, implying that soon, Arthur and Gwen might have some children of their own so that Sabina could finally have some royal friends. She knew that Arthur would understand her teasing words.

"I'm sure it won't come to that...he has a habit of overreacting." Arthur hoped not. Though if Isadora seemed sure it not to happen, then . . . would Alistair really go against her true wishes? He did not know them together. He knew them separately. Well, Isadora more so than Alistair. There was obviously a reason for that, but if there was one thing he could tell, it was how happy her husband made her. That was the most important thing. Trusting Isadora's judgment had been one of the reasons that Arthur did not keep trying to find reason to add tension between him and Alistair. Besides, Arthur did not like fighting. Especially the druid. For it would solve nothing. He now led his own life, thankfully one that no longer involved kidnapping people that Arthur was close to. Perhaps he had turned a new leaf. "It is understandable to a certain extent. For his love for his family seems great." This was a presumption Arthur was making. The man had a hard exterior but Arthur could tell.
From the way he spoke about her, and from the way she spoke about him. From the way he saw them together, and all that Isadora had done to ensure a future with him. Upon the suggestion of a child, Arthur's expression brightened even more than it already was right now. The thought of being a father, the thought of Guinevère being a mother . . . the thought of them having a child! It was such an overwhelming joy. One that he wished to experience so very soon. After experiencing the joy of being her husband first and her being his wife. "God willing," Arthur said, knowing that he would not be able to stop smiling for quite some time. "Parenthood is a joy that I truly wish to experience," he admitted. Any family oriented person would. "You are truly lucky Isadora. To already be having that experience." He knew that soon, his and Guinevère's time to have that similar joy would come. And he couldn't wait!

Isadora nodded when he said it was understandable. Alistair had always been overprotective and paranoid, and it went doubly so when it came to his daughter. It was understandable, considering what had happened to his own family...he just didn't want to see their happiness shattered in the same way. He was a good man, with good intentions, even if it didn't always seem that way. He would do anything in his power to make the two of them happy.
"I'm sure you and Gwen will make wonderful parents!" She exclaimed gleefully, excited for her friend's future happiness. Her daughter could be a pain sometimes, but having her in her life was well worth the trouble she could get up to. Like right now, for instance, Isadora noted as she glanced down at her daughter, who seemed to be attempting to eat the flower now, despite the fact that she didn't have any teeth yet.
Isadora crouched down hurriedly, taking the drool-covered flower away. "Oh, silly, don't eat that," she chided, tossing the flower away. "It's not food, for one thing, and it's dirty!" Sabina did not agree with this analysis, and made it known by scrunching up her face in displeasure, before she started to cry. She wanted her toy back! Why was Mum always taking away the things she liked?! Isadora scooped her up, looking at Arthur apologetically. "Sorry," she managed to say over her daughter's howling, "she's had a long day." Arthur's grin remained when Isadora spoke of them being wonderful parents. He knew Guinevère would be for sure. She was always taking care of others -- himself included -- so he knew that this nurturing personality of hers would make her a terrific mother. And he could not wait to be a father. But first, he wanted to enjoy his time as her husband. He was about to thank her, about to respond to her when the attention quickly fell to Sabina and Arthur's eyes fled from Isadora to her daughter. His smile faded a bit when the infant started to cry, Isadora saying that it had been a long day for her. "I can imagine," he said with full understanding. "Did you need to put her down for a nap?" He asked, unsure of what she needed right now and of course didn't want to make presumptions.
Isadora after all had far more experience than he did when it came to children. His was limited to holding a baby, admiring their adorableness, and then handing them back to the parent. Until he had a child of his own, parenthood was not something he would be well versed in. "I can walk you to your chambers if you like," he offered, unless her husband was lurking about and Arthur's presence around her would cause more damage than good. Actually, Arthur was in such a good mood today that he didn't even care if Alistair was around. He would speak to him politely and even thank him for attending if he was to converse with him. Not even the druid could damper Arthur's mood right now. Nothing could!

Isadora rubbed the crying baby's back, shushing her gently as she tried to get the cranky baby to calm down. She looked at Arthur apologetically, and nodded at his suggestion of a nap. "That's probably for the best." She might have overestimated Sabina's tolerance when she took her out to play, but it seemed she was still tired from the long journey. And if that didn't work...well, Isadora could always find Daddy and make him try to deal with the howling infant for a while. He might actually prefer it to having to mingle with the other nobles.
She smiled at Arthur's offer to walk her back to her chambers. "That's so sweet of you...but only if you can handle the noise." The baby's grating cries seemed to be designed specifically to drive people insane, she'd come to learn. Impossible to ignore. The lucky thing with these temper tantrums was that she would wear herself out quickly enough, but she hardly wanted to subject Arthur to that. She didn't want to scare him off from having children of his own, after all.

Arthur gave a short nod as he turned and extended his hand out, motioning for her to step in front while he then would walk alongside her. The child's screams certainly were . . . loud. But Arthur felt more sympathetic towards the child and mother, rather than annoyed. He wished there was something he could do to help, though knew it was not his place. And hoped that Isadora would know that if she did need anything, she need only say the word. "Trust me. I've heard the equivalent of this. Only it consists of my man servant's complaints and whines," he said jokingly. Well, only somewhat jokingly. Merlin really did sound like a baby whining sometimes. When he wasn't drinking at the tavern, he was always talking on and on about something or another. Though the main reason Arthur could tease him with such ease, was because the man was a brother to him.
"So do not worry. I can certainly handle a bit of noise," he remarked, as they continued to walk forward. "Know that if there is anything you require, all you need do is just say the word." From him, or anyone. He was fairly certain that her husband would take well care of her and Sabina, wherever he may be. But Arthur just wanted to give the offer regardless. Because he was her host, and she was visiting his home. As he previously recognized, it couldn't have been easy for her to travel with such an infant, and be in another palace. Which was why Arthur wanted to make sure she knew that everything as at her disposal; to treat this like her own home in requesting whatever she needed.

Isadora smiled at the joke about his manservant, she certainly hoped that wasn't the case! She couldn't imagine dealing with ruling a kingdom and having a grown man whining in your ear all the time; at least the baby was small and manageable...and hopefully she'd grow out of it eventually. With a grown man...well, she shuddered to think. "Surely he can't be that bad!" She exclaimed, certain that he wouldn't tolerate the man if it were. If it weren't her baby and she didn't love her so unbelievably much, she probably wouldn't even be able to handle it. She began walking as he gestured her forward.
She smiled at his offer of assistance, it was good to know. "Thank you, Arthur. It's good to know I have your support." And she would be just as willing to offer him the same, should he ever need it...or advice on what to do when it was his turn to have a howling infant. She was far from an expert, but she had learned quite a few things over the last few months that would have been nice to know beforehand. Arthur and Guinevère would be in the same situation as she and Alistair had been in, without any of their own parents to help them out, and she wished to help alleviate that burden however she could. "And you should know that the same goes for you to me. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask." It was good to know she had such a reliable ally.

Arthur smiled, knowing in his heart that Merlin wasn't bad at all. But what kind of brother would he be if he did not torment him a little now and then. And Arthur knew that it was easier to jest in such a way among close friends. To someone who did not know him as well, nor seen Merlin, Arthur would not offer ill words about him. "I think the difference is that Sabina at least has a charming beauty about her." Where as Merlin, did not. Obviously not. But with a baby, it almost seemed impossible to not see past the adorable exterior. Even when they were crying. Of course, he had not yet endured the nights of little sleep for the child required a parent's attention. But for the time being, he was just keeping the mood light and joyful. Because, for once, since a while, they were not meeting under grim circumstances.
She was here for his wedding. It was just so easy to be happy. So easy to be overjoyed! Because, there was no reason to act any other way. And her presence here just made him happier. He gave a small nod at her gratitude, also offering words in return. "And I am grateful in return. I shall keep your offer in mind. Though the only thing I have asked is for your presence during this time, and you have honored me with it. So for that, I am truly appreciative." He knew he had said this already, but wished to repeat these words of sentiment. Just so she knew how thankful he was. And in perfect timing too, as they were nearing her door.

Isadora gave a slight giggle when he complimented Sabina again...yes, it was easy to think she was adorable when you were only exposed to her in small doses. "Well I'm glad you think my daughter is more charming than your manservant." She said with a teasing lilt to her voice. As they drew nearer to her room, Sabina's cries quieted to a sob as she wore herself out, but refused to give in still. She was stubborn, just like her parents.
As they reached her bedroom door, she turned toward Arthur, smiling at his words of gratitude. "Of course, Arthur. There's no where else I'd rather be." She said sincerely, before she leaned up to give him a quick peck on the cheek, for good luck. "Now I think I've distracted the groom long enough. I'll see you tomorrow, at the wedding." She said with a smile, before she opened the door to her room and went inside, still shushing the baby and rubbing her back until she laid her down in her cradle to go to sleep. It was going to be a long night.

--- The Night That Changed Everything ---
There were no words to describe Arthur Pendragon's emotions. No way to describe what was racing through his heart, body, soul and mind. He felt frozen, numb. He had dressed out of his chainmail and now stood once again stressed in his regular attire. His arms were folded in front of him and he was looking aimlessly out the window of his bedroom. He was staring, but not really looking. He saw nothing. He only felt. He felt his heart break, so completely. It had taken him longer to sleep tonight than it should have. For he knew, that it would be the last night he would be sleeping alone. The excitement of marrying the woman he loved had overwhelmed him, and thoughts of her had taken him over. Eventually though, he had fallen asleep. Rather sure it had been with a smile on his lips. When he heard Agravaine awake him, no amount of warning could have prepared him for what he saw. His fiance; his wife to be; the love of his life . . . in the arms of another man. Kissing him. Embracing him.
Arthur's body in that moment had been filled with an all consuming rage. He could not remember the last time he had been so angry. He would have killed Lancelot in that moment. Regardless of the sacrifice he had made for Camelot; regardless of the fact that he was his brother in arms . . . Arthur would have killed him. Until Guinevère stepped between them, and that was when he felt his heartbreak. The way she inched toward him, worried for him. For another man. He would have thought it was her compassionate nature, but he saw the fear in her eyes. And knew it was for another man. The moments after that had been even more difficult. The words he said to her were not ones he regretted. For the first time in all his life, he did not feel remorseful when he saw her in tears. When he heard her beg for him. For forgiveness. He felt nothing but devastation. As if his entire world was crumbling beneath him. The woman that he loved above everyone else, the woman who would have been his wife and queen tomorrow . . . had betrayed him.
He no longer held trust for her. No trust in all those times she told him that she loved him above any other man. No trust in all those times she told him that she wanted to be with him and no one else. Hell, he didn't even know if he could trust her in that year that Lancelot was here, serving as a knight. Had she been with him? Arthur had give her his heart, body and soul. And all the while, she wished for another man. She wanted to be with another man. And as soon as he returned, she had taken the opportunity to embrace him. In these past couple of years, Arthur had lost a sister; a father; and now a wife. What kind of man did this make him? To make it so easy for others to lie to him? To betray him? He was not mighty king. No strong man. He was naive for constantly believing the lies. For wishing so much to be loved, only to disappointed in the end. He half expected Merlin or Agravaine to betray him or be lying to him. Guinevère had been his everything. He loved her. He still did. But he had banished her. And knew it was for the best. Because . . . she did not love him the way she claimed to.
He would love her no matter what. But, the pain of her betrayal was too great. Arthur could not even react enough to cry. Or yell. Or hit something. It had all been let out, and now he just felt numb. Betrayed. Broken. A knock on the door broke his thoughts. He did not turn his head toward the door. Who the hell would that be? He did not want to see anyone right now. He had no words for anyone. He knew people would see him a fool. Mock him. But it was not humiliation that was foremost on his mind. It was the pain of losing the woman he loved. Knowing he was king, and he would need to receive this person, he responded. "Come." His voice was stern. He kept his back towards the door, not even curious enough to turn his head to see who it was. He did not care. For nothing, nor no one could make this better. Even Guinevère's absence would not help anything. It was just what needed to be done. But nothing would heal the pain he felt in his heart.

The castle was abuzz with the news; Isadora had been up to feed the baby when she'd overheard a guard outside her door telling a servant about it. The Queen-to-be was found with one of the knights in a rather...compromising position. Isadora couldn't believe it...it had to be just idle gossip, just nerves or people talking or, or...something! Guinevère wouldn't do such a thing. But her curiosity got the better of her, as it usually did, and so once she was done feeding the baby, she dressed quickly in the darkness, careful not to wake her husband. He was a light sleeper, but he was used to her getting up in the middle of the night to feed the baby.
Once she was properly dressed, she went out in search of answers. Even though it was the dead of night, many people seemed to be awake, all eager to carry the news from one person to another. She found some nobles she knew, more reliable than the servants, also in the castle to attend the wedding, speaking of how it had been called off suddenly. According to them, the rumors of the Bride's betrayal were true, and they had heard it from the King's most trusted advisor himself, who was apparently there when it happened. Everyone seemed shocked by the scandal.
As the truth of the situation became apparent, Isadora's heart fell. She had seen Arthur only a few hours ago, and he was so happy! She hadn't seen Guinevère yet, as the woman was busy with preparations for her wedding day, but nothing about her encounter with Arthur indicated he had foreseen such a thing. He must be devastated! And she knew, immediately, where she had to go. Her feet were already taking her there, even as her mind struggled with the reality of the situation. How could this be?! It didn't make any sense!
She took a deep breath after she stopped outside his door, before she reached up to knock. She didn't imagine he'd be asleep after this but...manners had been drilled into her so long ago, she couldn't just open the door without invitation. When she heard the curt reply, she pushed open the door, stepping inside to see him with his back to the door, not even turning to see who it was. "Arthur," she addressed him, somewhat hesitantly, still uncertain what she could possibly say, but certain she should say something. "I...I'm so sorry." She didn't know if her sympathies would mean anything, but earlier she had offered him anything he needed, and now she was here to make sure he knew that.

Arthur still did not turn. Not when he heard someone enter his chambers, nor when he heard the visitor speak his name. He instantly recognized it though. Isadora. He knew why she was here. Because in her caring nature she would come to see if he was alright. Thus it began. The news was already spreading throughout the castle of how the queen to be had betrayed the king. He knew it would not be sugar coated; that everyone would know the harsh reality of it. And there was nothing he could do to stop it. While he didn't want anyone thinking poorly of Guinevère, he could not change what she did. He would not be able to change what people said about her. The was truth to her betrayal and there was no way to soften that fact. Nor was he going to bother trying. Even with Isadora here. Tonight, he did not want sympathy. He didn't think his heart would be able to bare it. He did not even know how to react to her words that soon followed, apologizing for what had happened. His uncle was right; he looked like a fool. And now everyone would give him those looks of sadness.
When happiness was only a reach away, it was now an impossible grasp. He kept his gaze forward, hardly even blinking. He knew that deep down it was rude of him to keep his back turned to her like this. To hardly acknowledge her presence upon entering. He was unsure how much time had passed, but eventually, he turned his head, looking more to the side rather directly at her. "Thank you," he replied in a solemn voice that came out far more stern than he had intended it to. If nothing else, he could thank her for her condolences. He just felt like he would not be able to face her. She was such a dear friend to him, and now she knew how much of a naive fool he had been. To thought he'd had the love of a woman, when it had been another man all along. He finally turned his body, looking at her for a brief moment. Only long enough to know that she was not holding Sabina. He averted his gaze, as he slowly walked towards the table, feeling the need to sit down.
Though ended up just staring at the surface of it as his hand rested on the table. He needed to appear stronger. He should be appearing stronger. Even in front of someone who he knew he never had to fake a front with. This time, he did. He slowly looked up at her, unsure of what expression was in his eyes. "Is that all?" He asked, his voice holding the same tone as his previous words. Did she just come here to say that to him? He did not mean to be rudely dismissive but at the moment, he did not trust his emotions. He felt far more fragile than he had in his entire life. And felt that he was on the verge of a breakdown. But somehow, he was still managing to stand tall, speak with whatever strength he could falsify, and . . . look at other people in the eye. It was the best he could do. For he knew now that every day for the rest of his life, he would have to be just like this. Broken on the inside; composed on the outside.

Isadora frowned when he thanked her. She knew that strong, detached response...she was married to a man who was skilled at showing the approximate emotion of a stone wall, after all. Arthur's pain was obvious despite his attempts to keep it under wraps. Her mouth felt dry, and she wasn't certain what she could say to help, or to alleviate his suffering...if she even could. She had to try, regardless. When he asked her if that was all, she moved a little bit closer. "I wanted to make sure you knew...that what I said earlier is still true. If you need anything, if there's anything at all I can to help...you need only ask."
But...that wasn't all she wanted to say. She had heard so many rumors, even just on her way here. People were saying that Gwen might be put to death...and Isadora knew that would be within Arthur's rights, if he wished it. He was the king, and adultery was no small matter. She knew that it could be seen as a sign of weakness, if people started to say that he couldn't even control one woman; how would he be able to control a whole kingdom? But that seemed too harsh. She couldn't even understand why Gwen would have done what she did, but she definitely could not believe that Arthur would put her to death for it. He couldn't!
"What...what are you going to do now?" She was afraid to even ask, but she knew that she had to know. And she had to hear it from him. But even as she heard her own words, she knew that it was too vague. "I mean...what is to become of Guinevère?" She couldn't believe that he would harm her, but she had to know for sure.

She was offering her support, reminding him of it. And truly, he appreciated that. Even if he could not express as such. What was he to say now. Thank her again? That would seem fairly redundant. So he just looked at her, slowly nodding his head. Hoping she would understand. Truth be told, there was nothing that anyone could give him that would remedy this situation. He wished he could blame magic. Something. Anything! But he blamed himself for it. He the woman who claimed his heart and he blamed the man who he thought was once a brother. Who's fate he still had to determine. Should he kill him? Banish him too? Should he . . . just send him away from Camelot, wish him and Guinevère a happy life together. That was what they wanted was it not? To be together. The thought of her with another man made him inwardly cringe. Knowing, that it was what she truly wanted. As her intentions were made clear tonight.
Isadora's next question went along with the thoughts that were in his mind. What would he do now. He knew what she meant, but he thought of the question in a more general sense. What would he do now indeed. She clarified her meaning, asking about the fate of Guinevère. Arthur turned away from Isadora once more, looking back out the window though there was nothing to see. This was a question that many would ask, until everyone knew. He didn't doubt that her friends were concerned about her. He knew that the knights were. Without speaking to them about this, he knew that they were all concerned. Just as Isadora was now. For several, knew that he could execute her if he so wished. Arthur did not like using death as a means to solve a problem. And he especially did not have it in his heart to kill the woman he loved. That would be far too much. And he would never go to that extent. Even if as king, he was entitled to.
He paused for several moments, just focusing on collecting his thoughts, composing himself. "She has been banished from Camelot," he said in a strong voice. Forcing the emotions to be void from his tone, so it came out more formal; more stern. He had banished her, on pain of death. Though he knew, that if she did return . . . he still would not be able to kill her. He just told her to express the severity in this sentence. "To return on pain of death," he added, as if trying to convince himself that he would not see her for some time. That this is what had to become of the situation. And no one, not Merlin, not Gaius, not any of the knights . . . would be able to talk him out of it. It was either this, or death. It felt so strange to talk about Guinevère so coldly; as if he was more of a king rather than a man who fell in love with her.

Isadora waited with bated breath to learn of the fate of Guinevère, certain that if it was taking this long, it had to be something terrible. Surely he wouldn't really sentence her to die?! She was the woman he loved! Surely he could not be so callous...but perhaps there was more of his father in him than she had ever wanted to believe. She prayed not, for if Arthur was such a man that he could treat one he loved so harshly, even in the face of betrayal, then he was not the man she had always thought him to be. He was not the man she was trying to convince her husband he was.
When he finally spoke, she could tell it was an effort to keep his strong front up. Her eyes widened, and she was relieved to hear that he wasn't planning to have her put to death...well, as long as she didn't return to Camelot. But this information did nothing to cheer her up, because she knew that while it was better than a death sentence, it would hurt the both of them more than they could know. "You won't reconsider?" She asked pleadingly, imploring him to change his mind. She didn't have much hope, but she had to try.
"I know that you must be hurting...but believe me when I say that if you do this, you will regret it." The year she had spent apart from Alistair has been agonizing, even if it was the only logical option available to them at the time. It was the reason why she'd been so willing to go through with their crazy lies in order to be with him, because she couldn't bear not being with him. "You love her...and I know that she betrayed you, but you have to forgive her. If you send her away now, you'll never have that chance."
