.:Name of Character:. Tesslin Osanne .:Nick Name:. Tess, Tessa .:Age:. 17 .:Race:. Camelotian .:Status:. Servant
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Tesslin is prettier than she believes herself to be. She has long brown hair. It is curly, more often than not, but her hair is rather unpredictable, so sometimes it can straighten out. Of course, these are on the days when she most wants the curls. It is dark, a contrast to her very pale skin tone. Her eyes are dark green-hazel, nearly brown. In some lights, her eyes are darker than in others, but the color certainly seems to change most according to her mood. This is technically impossible, because Tesslin doesn't have an ounce of magic in her small body (she would never work in Camelot if she did). She has full lips, and is often found chewing on them. This is a habit brought on through hunger, but now it simply signals nerves or concentration.
Her thin face shape reciprocates into her body. She has a very slim structure. A delicate neck holds up her head on top of a set of narrow shoulders. Her limbs and fingers are long. Tesslin is very bony. Her collarbones seems to stick out by meters, and she swears her hips are at least a tad curvier than the rest of her. Her breasts are small, but definitely not nonexistant, and a fair size for her body. .:Height:. 5'6" .:Portrayed by:. Astrid Berges-Frisbey
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Tesslin is among the best of dreamers. She can often be found humming, and staring out of windows while she does her work. Unluckily for her, the kitchen has the least windows in the whole entire castle, it seems. Sometimes, the world just conspires against her. She is very quiet, and often would hesitate to speak even when asked. Tesslin is very self conscious about her voice, and is often quieter than the sky before a hurricane. She is nervous, but altogether polite. Her features just seem to emphasis her innocence, and flighty demeanor, but she is not all that she appears.
Around people she cares about, or people she really doesn't care about at all, Tesslin opens up. Like a flower blooming in the spring, Tesslin reveals a slightly sarcastic sense of humor, and restlessness only cured by a little trouble every now and then. She has a kind heart, but isn't very brave when it comes to people of a higher status, which, really, is pretty much everybody. Tesslin is a gentle spirit. Kind and caring, she is the poster child for mild.
She works herself to the bone, and doesn't complain. She can step up to the plate when needed, but one of her weaknesses is helping too much. She'll take on a job for somebody, without even realizing she should just be helping them, and not doing the entire chore by herself.
Once inside the circle of trust, you don't leave the circle of trust. Ever. For anything. Tesslin would never tell another soul about your secret. She is always available to listen, gives the best advice she can. Tess doesn't get angry, just upset and disappointed. She doesn't raise her voice, but commands attention simply with her there-ness. Though not outspoken, and not invisible, Tesslin is just there, a friendly smile, and a comforting presence. Tess is most afraid of letting people down, and hurting other people. That, and spiders.
Tessa loves to cook, and finds great joy cooking, even though it is for other people, and even though she is getting paid less than scraps to do it. Her favorite food is apples. She loves the fruit, and makes sure to save enough for her pies (which are almost infamous) before the cold sets in. .:Strengths:. -cooking -puts others before herself, loyal -willing to help .:Weaknesses:. -shy -apologies more than she should -can easily lose track of time -slow to trust - horrible at team-work. People take advantage of her and she lets them. She usually does more work than she can take, because she can't say no. .:Magic Abilities:. None. .:Special Skills:. Cooking: She was offered a position in the castle because of her great cooking, though she can often be found doing other chores around the castle as well. Healing: Though she has no magic, Tessa seems to have a calming influence on injured people, especially children. Weather prediction?: It isn't a very useful or lifesaving skill, but since she looks at the sky all the time, she's learned to pick up signals and patterns about the coming weather. Now, she is very skilled at it, and is rarely wrong. .:Accents:. Tessa has a lower town accent, but she tries to speak more formally in the castle. She is so worried about the stability of her position, she doesn't want anything to compromise it, slang included.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot, lower town. .:Family:. Richard and Sarah Osanne. Bakers. .:Occupation:. Servant in the castle of Camelot. .:Current Location of Residence:. Servants quarters- Camelot Castle .:History:.
Tessa was born on a day when it looked like the sky was made out of gold. As if the sun took all the riches in the world, chewed them up, and spat them out over the sky. It is said that it was the first thing she looked at, and she hasn't really looked away since.
She was born into a family of bakers in the Lowertown of Camelot. She was the first child to her parents. She grew up around baking, and burns. The family always ate stale bread, because the fresh bread her father made every morning while she was asleep was to be sold. By five, Tesslin was rising with the sun, and quieter than the dawn creeping up over the hills. She helped her father bake the bread in the morning, and then ran to wake up her mother two hours before the shop opened.
It wasn't a glamourous lifestyle, but it was a happy one. Tessa wouldn't trade it for the world.
That is, until the first miscarriage. And then the second. Her mother was getting weaker, and her father was getting angrier, and curse the lord almighty for bringing alcohol into this world to mess with the minds of sound men. Tessa was working nearly full time in the bakery at ten to help her mother, while her father was busy drinking in the neighboring tavern.
Richard Osanne was a large man, which thick, strong, scarred fingers. Tessa learned to do as she was told before she was told it, and- if she was lucky- she wouldn't get hit for messing up. Her father was a changed man, and Daddy in the pre-dawn hours of the morning was but a hazy memory. Despite her father's ill treatment, she worked hard, and loved what she did. Word circulated around the lower town, pulling in business almost faster than she could bake.
That was her saving grace. Cooking. Eventually, word got around to the servants in Camelot, and then actual Camelot. She was offered a position in the castle: a gift that Tesslin did not hesitate to accept. Her father didn't touch her mother the way he hit her. Some loves even alcohol couldn't change. The extra money would help her mother regain her strength, and the peace of mind would keep her well.
She moved into the castle servants quarters, often adopting extra chores from her friends who were just "so tired, Tessa." Though she did not trust many of them, Tess did feel an obligation to help whenever she could, it was her job, right?
