I'm speechless!!!! Its still sinking in, I need to see it again several times!
I was on the egde of my seat during that race to save Arthur!!!!!!!
What's standing out the most for me right now is Dragoon.... I swear Colin gets ten times better at that each time... The guy has incredible talent!!!!!!!
(I can't wait to get into a rp story where Merlin is forced to use the ageing spell!!!)

My mind is a little confused after the last episode - not because of the way things played out - I thought the actors were superb!! Colin's performance was jaw dropping, and I have to admit the bit near the end almost had me in tears. It was nice to see some lightheartedness earlier in the episode with Arthur and Merlin - I missed that this season!!!
Dragoone had me laughing out loud, I have to admit! "Should have done that years ago!" ! Just... loved it! LOVED IT.
Merlin, I would LOVE to see you rp Merlin being forced to use the aging potion!!!

I have no idea what confused me, Merlin!!! I just know that at the end of the episode, something didn't quite sit right with me, and I've no idea what...!!! I know it wasn't anything to do with the plot, or the actors, so I'm at a loss!
One of my favourite lines:
Merlin: I prefer Gwen's clothes Arthur: I'm going to try my hardest to forget you ever said that.....

Could it be Gwen that made you feel that way? She certainly made me feel rather....I'm not sure what. But it wasn't pleasant.... And now she's made an enemy out of Merlin, and she knows it.... She'll be trying to get rid of him again I bet.
I felt sorry for the poor guy she murdered!!!
And I LOVED that line too!!!!!! ;D

Hmm, it's possible I suppose. Though it's nice to see Gwen being something other than the good little wife with little opinion (sorry, but she's been bugging me this past series!), I do not like the way her "evilness" was executed at all. It almost seems to me as though the writers are swapping her for Morgana - in season 3, they had Morgana trying consistantly to kill Arthur... and now they're using Gwen. Admittedly, if Arthur ever finds out, the betrayal will be huge... and I'm being mean, but I really want that to happen. I loved that Arthur cleared Merlin's name the minute he was well again though!!! And yes, I agree!!! I think Gwen'll be doing her best to get rid of Merlin; especially considering the look she was giving him at the end of that episode!!!! I wonder if she'd try to turn Arthur against him?
OMG, me too!! That poor guy!!! I liked how Merlin went to talk to him though...

Thats exactly how I felt, it was as though she was a duplicate of Morgana!!!
I loved when Arthur cleared Merlin's name too, of course he would, their brotherly bond is SO strong, you can see that trust is there constantly now. I feel like even if Merlin purposely did something wrong (which he never would) Arthur would refuse to believe it.
And that's a good thought actually, Gwen trying to turn Arthur against Merlin, I think Morgana would have to be involved in that because it would take some powerful magic! If not then it would be an incredibly slow process, it would take a lot of different things I think.
Yeah I liked how he went to talk to him....the whole episode despite it being about Gwen's plot to kill Arthur, it was very Merlin based, and it really showed Colin's exceptional acting skills more so than usual!

Yes! Exactly!!! Im very curious to now watch the next episode (LOL) to see what happens!!!! But then I am most weeks!
I agree - their bond is so strong now, there is no way that Arthur would think Merlin capable of anything evil or wrong; and even if Merlin did do something, like you say, I think Arthur would do everything in his power to clear his friend's name. They seem more like brothers than friends (which reminds me... was I the only one annoyed with Sir Leon??)
Hmm, I think you might be right on that one!! Knowing how desperate Morgana is for the throne, she might try it though, thinking she has more power with Gwen under her control, but I'm not sure how much power she has!
I agree, it really showed how Colin has matured with his character, and it brought a greater depth to Merlin. That last bit really did have me near tears!

OMG! No, you are not the only one annoyed by sir Leon! I don't know WHY he was annoying but that scene where he was talking to Gwen at Arthur's bedside...he just annoyed me!!!!
It had me near to tears too, that was some powerful stuff, it was actually a little scary to see Merlin reacting to Arthur dying, and not even reacting as strongly as he would if it really did happen I don't think .....THAT would just be too heart wrenching to watch.

SO happy I wasn't the only one!! With me it was the fact that he seemed so willing to admit that Arthur was on the brink of death. Considering how his character and Arthur are supposed to have grown up together, I would have thought he'd be among those telling Gwen not to give up hope rather than suggesting that she take the crown for herself!!
It was extrordinarily powerful!!! I have to wonder how the cast dealt with that scene when they saw it was coming up, and after it was filmed. Because... urgh... it was just amazing!!! Like you said, it does give us a sort of glimpse into how he would react if Arthur actually did die... which considering how close the two are, is not surprising! I fear Arthur would be almost the same if it were Merlin at death's door!

Yeah he was just so casual about it, I don't think the writers take these things into consideration sometimes. I suppose they needed someone to tell her those things and it just happened to be him, despite the fact that he grew up with Arthur, which they obviously forgot for some reason!
It was really amazing and I agree, I'm certain Arthur would react pretty much the same way if it were Merlin in that position!!!

I agree, he was far too casual, and it really irked me!!!! Like you say, it's almost as if the writers have forgotton their own characters, which really doesn't make sense! You may be right in that Leon was a means to an end in telling Gwen what they needed her to be told but even so... (did that sentence make sense?)
We saw a brief glimpse of how Arthur might react if it were Merlin in season 4 - but I've a feeling his reaction would be even stronger now, after everything that's happened!

Yes, it made perfect sense lol!
And yes definitely, Arthur's reaction now would be much, much stronger, they've had three years to really bond between this series and last, and it really shows that they have.

*jumps in to ruin the order*
I quite liked this episode, but many bits of it made me feel reallyyyy uncomfortable. I felt SO sorry for the stablehand! That actor just gets typecast as the awkward person, its fine
I have to say Gwen/Morgana parallels Morgana/Morgause, does anyone else see this? With both of them we didn't see the end result, so of *how* they shifted alliances. Both suddenly turn on -all- of their friends and want Arthur dead, despite him being such a big part of both of their lives. If the two aren't connected then I'll be incredibly surprised seeing as it parallels so nicely.
Sir Leon just annoyed me, I agree with you guys, it just felt a bit fake? The bedside scene made me feel more uncomfortable than emotional. Colins acting was amazing but didn't make me tear up as much as expected, but that was probably because I was still rolling around laughing at old!Merlin. His scenes were just so perfect.
Anyone else annoyed at the lack of Mordred? I expected so much more from him this series, and he just seems to have appeared, then faded a bit, come back, and then faded off again. I want more Mordred screen time! He's not really doing much 'being Arthur's bane' while he's not really getting much screentime, it still feels like Morgana is running the show.

I completely agree with you, Cait!!! The Gwen/Morgana thing is so similiar to the Morgana/Morgause thing, with Gwen taking Morgana's place during that whole plotline! LIke you say, the writers dont' bother to tell us why or how this has happened - except in having Elyan die - but they just assume we'll jump on the band wagon, so to speak! I feel sorry for Arthur - is this how it's going to be for him throughout the show? And what happens when - or if - he finds out about Guinevère? I can see the poor guy being devistated. (I felt sorry for that stablehand too!)
I will say, though, it's nice to see Gwen actually doing something this last episode, rather than just floating around... but I'm still not happy with what she's doing!
Sir Leon.... URGH. Like you say, Cait, it really did seem fake, and though I've said it before, to me it felt like they were just using Leon as a handy character who could tell Guinevère this crazy idea of her ruling if Arthur died (I really did not like how Leon wrote Arthur off so quickly!). Emrys was perfect!!!{/i]!.
YES to being annoyed at the lack of Mordred in this series!!! I think I said in other threads, but it seems to me that they are very much only using Mordred when they want him to make some sort of impact - it's very annoying to say the least!! And very odd, considering at the start of his being knighted, Arthur seemed very fond of the boy (even Guienvere remarked on it!), and Mordred is just being pushed aside... I totally agree that it feels like Morgana is running the show though!
And Merlin, completely agreeing with you!!! They have really bonded over the last years - the years that we've seen of them, and the ones we haven't! - you can tell by the way they interact with each other. They are like Morgana and Arthur were in season one and two, but a lot stronger! I'd say they were brothers in every sense of the word bar blood...

Not to mention that they now keep re-using scenes Anyone else noticed that the scene when Gwen meets Morgana as the old woman at the cloth booth at the market is the EXACT likeness of the scene when MORGAUSE disguised as an old woman (she even lookd like the freaking SAME old woman ) approached Morgana and when Gwen saw her true face in the mirror that was there?
Also, is this the third time Merlin is caught rummaging through a lady's wardrobe?
YEP, the scene with Leon telling Gwen she should rule was SO staged. It didn't even sound convincing... like Leon was OOC at that moment, just so someone said it...

Just want to add that I LOVED the music in this episode! Especially the enchanting tune that started playing everytime Morgana appeared!
