Griff Aubert, being a good brother, had taken it upon himself to find this Lady Camila and determine whether or not she was good enough for Lucan. He'd more or less done the same with Caitrin, so it was only fair. Besides, it was better than anything he was planning on doing today. He'd borrowed a horse from Allard after telling him that he was riding into Camelot to try and find some lodgings. That wasn't a complete lie, he probably would be riding into Camelot. Just not for lodgings, and not before he paid Lady Camila a visit. Lucan had been irritatingly quiet when it came to Camila, apart from the obvious news that they were getting married. He'd learnt nothing about her character. It was almost as if Lucan wanted this situation to happen, and really, it wasn't Griff's fault at all if he was forced to go and find her himself.
So far, he'd been impressed. But then he'd only seen her house. Well, it was an impressive house, so that was something in her favour. He'd already started with the points system. A nice house gave a her plus two. On reaching the house he dismounted the horse and luckily there was a servant ready to take it from him. He was always felt awkward when approaching a house such as this, especially when he'd never been there before and especially when he didn't actually know the person who he was meeting. But that wasn't going to stop him from being anything other than his narcissistic self. He was just going to ignore his nerves because really, he was a grown man. He should be able to do adult things like visiting people without such problems.
There wasn't much of a wait before he was shown inside, which was something he was grateful for. His feet were still hurting and, rather attractively, covered in blisters. "I am Lord Griff Aubert. I'm here to see Lady Camila." He explained and paused for a few seconds before adding, "I am Sir Lucan's brother." It wasn't often that he was forced to use his brother's name as a way of introducing himself, and it was almost embarrassing. The majority of his life had been spent trying to not be "Sir Lucan's brother" and yet here he was having to use it again. But that would have to be an issue for another time. He was here to see Lady Camila, not to feel sorry for himself.

Since Lucan's proposal, Lady Eloise, Camila's mother, hadn't stopped fussing over her. Now, Lady Eloise was usually a very soft-spoken woman that would putter around the estate quietly. She really just lived to be her husband's wife, it seemed. It was sort of pitiful, Cam found. Her mother didn't even have a hobby. And it wasn't like she had chores to do like cleaning, there were servants for that. But in a way, Eloise was almost like a servant. But since her daughter's engagement, she had been obsessing over her.
Cam loved her mother, no matter how sad her life was. But having her on her back all the time was starting to get on her nerves. Luckily, her mother had left the house today and Camila could be left alone.
"My Lady?" A servant walked into the library where Cam was sitting. "Yes, Terrance?" She looked up from her book at the man. "There is a Lord Griff Aubert here to see you. He says that he is you're fiance's brother." Cam cocked her head to the side curiously before closing her book. "Thank you, back to your duties, Terrance." She dismissed him, standing up and putting her book down on the table next to her chair. The servant nodded and left as Cam made her way out of the room.
It was peculiar, why was Lucan's brother here? They had never met... What could he possibly have to say to her? Maybe he had news? Cam put the thought out of her mind that he would be here to report on something horrible that might have happened to Lucan.
Camila reached the front polar and found this... Griff. "Can I help you, my Lord?" It was odd, but she had no idea how else to address him.

Griff was actually surprised when he saw Lady Camila. Lucan had done well! He certainly hadn't been expecting someone quite so attractive to appear. How his brother had managed to convince her to marry him was beyond him. For a moment or two, he simply stood there, looking her up and down. A small smile appeared on his lips. If she was going to be a part of his family, then surely she deserved a proper Aubert welcome. And by a proper Aubert welcome, he meant a Griff welcome, which probably wasn't the same thing. It was more fun though.
"Yes, you can." He said cheerily, folding his arms against his chest. "I came to inspect the merchandise, so to speak." He grinned at her. If she took offence at that then she shouldn't be marrying his brother - that was his logic anyway. It would be interesting to see what her reply was and hopefully it would give him an idea of what kind of woman she was. Knowing Lucan she probably would take offence, she might even hit him, and although it wouldn't be a completely unthinkable thing to do, it would certainly be much less fun.

The merchandise? Was this boy serious? Well, Cam could see that this was going to be an interesting morning. She crossed her arms across her chest and slowly made her way towards Griff. Dear. He was quite the opposite of Lucan, although she did see the resemblances physically. Camila debated what to do. Slapping him wouldn't be very nice, no matter how rude he was, he was her future family. She could act entirely insulted, which she was. This boy had nerve, he knew very well that she has his brother's fiance. Camila decided to just beat him at his own game. Ohm it had been a long time since she had played games like these.
Cam stopped in front of her future brother-in-law and gave him a smirk. "Oh, how adorable." She gave him a pat on the cheek. "But if you value your life..." She held his chin. "Or your face. I suggest you keep your eyes and comments to yourself." She almost hissed before pushing his face to the side slightly and walked back to the way she entered the room. There, an other servant stood with a tray and two cups.
"Thank you, Magdalene." Cam said, taking one cup in each hand before turning back to Griff. "Now, Griff. Perhaps we should move to the study. I do look forward to getting to know my future brother-in-law." She handed him one of the cups. If looks could kill... She gave him a less than sweet grin before turning back for the exit, not looking back to see if he was following her or not.

Was she...smirking at him? This was unexpected. He'd expected a slap or something, but smirking. He was immediately suspicious. Maybe she was lulling him into a false sense of security. This theory was confirmed when she put her hand on his cheek. He braced himself for a slap. Hmm. No slap. Well, that could have been worse. He should have probably taken her threat seriously, but it would take a lot more than a few words to stop Griff from flirting, whether it was in jest or not. Besides, he owed it to his brother to flirt with his fiancé...in Griff logic, that made perfect sense. There was a grin on his face as he continued to watch her. She wasn't what he'd been expecting at all. Maybe she would fit in with his family after all.
"Now, Griff. Perhaps we should move to the study. I do look forward to getting to know my future brother-in-law."
He probably shouldn't be quite so enthusiastic with his flirting but it had been so long since he'd met someone challenging. Recently the only women he'd spoken to were in taverns - boring, easy and predictable. Camila was fun, if a little too good at making him rather nervous. She must know that he wasn't being serious, musn't she? He wasn't actually going to come here and seriously flirt with his brother's fiance. He might have his caddish moments, but he wasn't that bad. Having said that, his next words probably weren't helping prove his point. "I look forward to getting to know you too," he winked, flashing that grin of his. "In every sense of the word."

Was he really serious? If this was going to go on the whole time he was here... Cam took in consideration telling Lucan about this later but she wasn't going to have him take care of her problems for her. She was very capable of taking care of herself. Although, she could hold it over Griff...
Once in the study, Camila looked over her shoulder. "I'm going to ignore that one, Griff." She sighed before she sad down in one of the chairs and took a sip from her cup before turning back to her possible future brother-in-law. "So, what do you do, Griff? It's quiet obvious you're not a Knight of Camelot and I highly doubt you do much more than spend your days in taverns but surely you must do something to keep ale the coming? Or do you just take from your brother and father?" She raised an eyebrow before taking another sip from her drink.

It really wasn't bad at all!
Well this was hardly going to be any fun if she was going to just ignore anything he said. And it was rude. He'd be telling Luc. He thought about that for a moment. He probably shouldn't tell Luc, his brother might question why Camila had cause to ignore him, and Griff could hardly explain that it was because he was being inappropriate. Instead he just made a "heh" noise and continued to watch her. He was rather interested to see just what kind of a woman could tempt his brother so. Lucan was never interested in woman, and up until he'd announced his engagement Griff was quite certain Lucan had never been alone with one. Hmm, maybe he still hadn't. That was going to be fun on their wedding night. A small smile found its way onto his lips. Now that would be funny to watch...and then promptly leave because he didn't need that much information.
Ouch. He wasn't expecting that, he'd been expecting a few more flirtations and then he'd ask her about Lucan and size her up and decide that she wasn't good enough for his brother. Clearly she had other plans. "Well, I-" he paused. What exactly did he do? Apart from live of his brother and his brother's uncle. "I stay as far away from my father as possible." He said with a serious tone. Lucan probably hadn't told Camila about his father issues so it was highly unlikely that she would have expected Griff to have the same feelings.
Griff resisted the urge to say anything more about his father, firstly because he doubted Camila cared that much and also because the less said about the man, the better. He was in Glouchedon and Griff was in Camelot, and everything was just fine and dandy. It didn't help him with answering her though. She was clearly testing him, or at least playing with him, and doing so rather well. "I wouldn't expect a woman of your...stature to understand." He would be rather surprised if that didn't earn him a slap. "And yourself? Do you find spending someone else's money as difficult as I do?"

Camila regarded her visitor with a light smirk upon her lips before she sipped her drink once more and put down the cup. Griff was at a loss for words and was struggling to find a reply. She was rather impressed with herself. "I didn't ask if you and your father enjoyed morning tea together, did I?" She raised and eyebrow. "You still owe me an answer, brother." She emphasized her last word to hopefully get a good reaction out of him but she would call him this in the future for sure. Why not start now?
"A woman of my 'stature'? Do tell me what exactly you are referring to." Camila was seeing unbelievably fast that her to-be brother-in-law would be trouble, a thorn in her side, forever. The corner of Camila's mouth twitched upwards. "As a noblewoman, I cannot work to provide for myself. However, if things were reversed, I'm sure I could easily take over your brother's job."
((now this is terrible. And super late))

Griff quite liked this girl - he was ever so slightly concerned for his physical well-being, but he liked her all the same. She was definitely not what he'd had in mind. He'd been expecting someone far more...simple, conventional...mild...someone like Lucan for lack of a better description. Camila would be good for him, of this he was certain, or he would be certain if his main thought wasn't one of self-preservation. Just how, exactly, had his brother managed to convince this woman to spend her life with him? This was going to be one of those mysteries he'd never understand.
He also didn’t understand her obsession with his father. Alright, he was going to be her father-in-law, but Caitrin hadn't shown such an interest. He paused. He hadn't thought about Caitrin for some time, a realisation which almost made him feel guilty. Almost. There was still the anger whenever he thought about her, but he couldn't deny the fact that he missed her. It was stupid really, and Gwaine was probably right when he said Griff should be moving on with his life. He stopped. If he continued with such thoughts he probably wouldn't stop. He was here to interrogate his brother's woman, not become miserable at the loss of his own. So...moving on then.
Hmm. Camila would probably be offended whatever he said...in which case he might as well have some fun with it. Besides, they were going to be family so she’d have to accept him eventually... “Someone so...virtuous, so pure and noble.” He replied, almost looking off into the distance behind her, as though describing some sort of legendary heroine or goddess rather than his brother’s soon to be wife. “A woman of such beauty and intelligence, so desired by all men and yet unbelievably humble.” His seriousness was betrayed by the hint of a smile. “That’s what I meant.”
Her comment caused him to raise his eyebrows at her. Oh could she? He’d like to her running into battle wearing full armour and brandishing a sword at the enemy. Actually, she probably would be quite a formidable knight. He grinned at her, “I shall take your word for that.”
