Caitrin pulled on the reigns of her horse and began to slow her mare down into a gentle trot. She had been riding at high speeds up until this point. She was a more than competent horse rider, and she enjoyed the freedom it allowed her. At her Uncle’s request, she had ridden with an escort. It was more for appearances than anything else; he just didn’t want Camila’s family to think that he was negligent in looking after his ward. Rouland was anything but, but no one really saw that side of him. It gave Griff peace of mind as well, or Caitrin supposed it did, he hadn’t really commented on the matter. She had just told him she was riding out to become better acquainted with Lucan’s fiancée. They would all be family eventually so she figured getting to know the inlaws now would only be a good thing in the future. Although the meeting had been a suitable point for them all to greet each other in a formal way, Caitrin wanted to get to know Camila a little better without the Aubert’s breathing down their necks.
Both Caitrin and Camila were marrying into the family, to two completely different men. Sometimes Caitrin found it hard to believe that Griff and Lucan were brothers. After all, they were completely different, with everything from their looks down to their personality. Caitrin wondered if she and Camila were going to be quite so different. They had got on quite well at the meeting earlier this week, and hopefully that would continue through this meeting.
Dismounting her horse she looked up at the Faintree estate, hoping she had got the right place. She was sure this was right. A stable hand came and took the mare off her and bowed low to her. Caitrin just looked around for a few moments, she had never been here before, then again she had never had reason to before now. The guard from her Uncle’s estate had now stepped along side her and was just looking at her, waiting for her next move.
“This is the right place isn’t it?” Caitrin asked, as she really didn’t want to turn up at the wrong estate all together,
“I believe so Lady Caitrin, would you like me to take you inside?” He asked brightly but Caitrin shook her head,
“No I’ll be fine thank you. Just wait with the horses for me. I shall try to not keep you waiting too long.” She winked at the man who, with a knowing smile, gave a small bow and retreated to the two horses for what would probably be a long morning for him. Caitin stepped towards the entrance to the estate, and another servant came over to her,
“Can I help you my Lady?” He asked and Caitrin nodded,
“I’m here to visit Lady Camila, could you tell her that Lady Caitrin is here to see her?” The servant nodded and went off, presumably to tell Camila she had arrived. Caitrin for her part just stood rather awkwardly inside the entrance of the house, toying with her engagement ring as she waited for the lady in question to join her.

Things had been rather quiet for the past few days. The chaos of meeting Lucan's family a few days before had really tires Cam out but she didn't feel like backing out of the engagement, no matter how many times Luc asked if she was really sure about it. She loved him and wasn't going to leave him because of his family. She was going to marry him and live with him. Yes, his family would be around now and then, but Camila was in love with him and that was all that mattered. Lucan had to stop questioning that.
Since meeting his family, Cam hadn't seen Luc, he had been busy in Camelot and she understood this. No matter how much she wanted to be selfish and keep him for himself. But today she would get a distraction, she had invited her future brother-in-law's finace, Lady Caitrin de Archer, over to her Estate to get to know her better. Without the boys. Cam was rather looking forward to getting to know her better.
"My Lady?" Cam turned in her chair to look at a servant. "Yes, Henry?" She addressed him. "Lady Caitrin is here to see you." Cam smiled and stood up. "Thank you, Henry." She said, dismissing him with a hand on his shoulder as she walked by him and headed off to find Caitrin.
The polar was empty, to her surprise. Had no one brought Caitrin there? Luckly, the polar led straight to the front entrance. "Caitrin," Cam greeted her cheerfully, "I'm sorry nobody showed you to the polar. I'm sure you would like to sit down after your trip here."

Really, Caitrin was still taken back by the fact that Camila had invited her over to get to know her better. They had of course exchanged words when they had been at Lucan’s Uncle’s estate, but the focus hadn’t been on getting to know everyone better, or at least that was what Caitrin had got out of the experience. To her, it had just been a way of showing Camila just what she was letting herself in for. Caitrin had always known really, as irritably, Lucan had always been present in hers and Griff’s relationship. They had got off on the wrong foot, and that had merely escalated throughout the months, and it was safe to say that Caitrin still didn’t particularly like Lucan. However, she wasn’t going to hold this against Camila. Just because she was marrying a man that Caitrin didn’t particularly like didn’t mean she didn’t have to get on with Camila, somehow. Anyway, from the meeting she had got the impression that Camila didn’t particularly like Griff either; so they already had something in common. Neither of them liked the man the other was marrying. Well this was going to be an odd experience wasn’t it?
Luckily Caitrin wasn’t left alone with her thoughts very long, and she smiled as Camila greeted her. She waved off the woman’s concern that none of her servants had brought her through, after all, they didn’t know who it was. “It’s nice to see you again Camila.” She replied softly, as to sitting down, that sounded like heaven to Caitrin and she nodded gratefully. “That would be wonderful thank you.” Caitrin followed Camila through to the solar and took up one of the nearest seats, and gave the woman a smile. “How have you been since the little family get together?” She asked politely. Well, they weren’t all family just yet, but the engagement rings on both the women’s fingers said that this wouldn’t last for very long. Soon they would be quite a large, if dysfunctional family; what fun that would be! She knew that Camila would be married before she was, and it still annoyed her. That didn’t mean she resented Camila in any way though, no, it wasn’t her fault after all. She and Griff were still getting used to each other, but there was still the intention to get married there, but neither of them were quite sure of how soon that would be.

Once in the solar, Camila motioned her guest to sit before she did the same and waved down her servant Theodore for refreshments. He gave her a pleased smile and was off. Cam turned back to Caitrin and smiled. "It's nice to see you again as well, Caitrin." Light pleasantries. But nothing felt all that awkward. No, Camila truly hoped that she and Caitrin would get along. They would be seeing a lot of each other from now on and would be sisters-in-law in good time. But Cam wasn't going to bring up the subject of Cait's engagement to Griff and how it was going. No that was a conversation best saved for later, if even then.
"It was a rather special time, wasn't it?" Camila laughed lightly and gave her guest as grin. "I've been fine, Lucan was over only a few days ago. I'm expecting a letter from him soon, God knows what he's off doing this time but I really wish it wasn't taking so long this time around..." Cam drifted in the end. After a few seconds she looked back at Caitrin with a smile. "How have you been?" She really wished she hadn't gone on about Lucan. They two of them clearly didn't get along and Cam was sure he was the last person Caitrin wanted to hear her ramble about.

The solar really was quite grand. She was sure her Uncle, with his fine tastes, would be suitably jealous, but Caitrin was just enjoying the general attire of the room. She enjoyed the different styles one found in noble homes, and Camila’s was no exception. Caitrin didn’t really want to cause any tension between the pair of them, because they would all be family under the Aubert banner eventually, and they would have to get along then. After all, they were two women marrying into the same household, they had to have some similarities after all. Caitrin was sure the courtship between Camila and Lucan was incredibly different to the one she and Griff had gone through. Caitrin knew how different Lucan and Griff were, so it was natural their experiences were quite different. She didn’t expect Camila to have any knowledge of Lucan past a friendly embrace, whereas she and Griff had been quite at ease with their bedsheets from quite early on in their relationship. She smiled as Camila returned her pleasantries, and she took a seat in the solar gracefully with a small smile on her lips.
She felt quite awkward in a way that Camila was bringing up Lucan so early in the conversation. She knew that was the reason she had become aquantances with Camila after all but she didn’t like the man in any sense of the word. They had an extreme sort of personality clash which was quite unique in a way. They often managed to annoy each other just by being in the same room which was impressive. Caitrin nodded politely, and put on a small smile at Camila’s ramblings. She supposed she was just excited about the up and coming wedding. Caitrin had felt the same when she had been engaged to Griff, of course the excitement was still there now that she was sure she would marry him. However, she was still getting her head around the situation. At least now she knew where she stood, and she would be Lady Caitrin Aubert before the year was out, she was sure of it. “It was special, and I must congratulate you on your engagement once again.” She beamed at the young woman, after all, marrying a soon to be Duke was nothing to be taken for granted. Camila had done well by any stretch of the imagination. “I’m sure Lucan will be fine, he always has a habit of getting himself out of trouble.” He had survived Morgana after all, and many other things besides. If there was one thing Lucan Aubert was, he was a survivor. Her words about Lucan were quite cool, she couldn’t force warmth towards someone who she really didn’t like at all. She could try, and that was it. “I have been well, thank you.” She replied softly, “Griff came to see me yesterday, but aside from that I have just been residing at my Uncle’s estate.” She didn’t want to speak much about Griff, not because she didn’t want to, but because from what she had seen the other day, she could tell there wasn’t that much warmth between Camila and Griff. “Are you excited about your wedding?”
