It felt weird being at home, well, back at Lord Allard's. It hadn't really been a home, just somewhere he'd been living between his father's estate and Lord Rouland's. Despite being in Camelot for a couple of years, he still hadn't felt like he'd found his feet. Yes, he had Caitrin, whom he loved more than anything, and of course there was now a baby on the way. A grin found its way onto his lips. He still wasn't used to the idea of being a father, Caitrin having only told him two days ago. The news was still sinking in, and still completely terrifying. Caitrin had been spending the last two days trying to convince him that he wasn't going to be a complete failure, but he was yet to believe her. Her arguments were not all that convincing, and most of them ended up with "you have several months." Yes, he did have several months - several months to panic. It would be fine. Hopefully.
His nerves hadn't settled any by the time he reached Lord Allard's estate. He wasn't entirely sure whether his brother would be at home, but oh well. He'd just sit here and wait and hopefully calm down by then. He didn't actually know why he was nervous, well, of course he was nervous about the baby, but he was nervous about telling his brother. Lucan usually disapproved of most things he did.
He scratched his neck and briefly thought about sitting down but he'd only just start pacing again. A servant had gone to see if Lucan was around, so Griff was left to sit, or rather pace, in the solar by himself. His nerves were not calming any, if anything, they were getting worse. Lucan would be here soon, and he would talk some sense into him and then everything would be fine. Sort of. Maybe. Probably not. Well, it was too late to leave now.

A servant had immediatly pounced on Lucan as soon as he'd returned home. Griff was there waiting for him? He knew exactly why. He hadn't seen him for quite a while, but at the same time was pleased that his brother was finally getting his life back on track, even if the woman he loved did hate his brother. He still was trying to come to terms with the revelation that Caitrin was pregnant though. Rouland had delievered the blow the day before and still Lucan wasn't too happy about the whole thing. Then again if Griff was happy then that was all that mattered. He would have to write to his father to tell him about all of this though. There was no way that Griff could pull keeping a secret like this off.
Walking into the room where Griff had been shown into, Lucan looked him up and down. It was the first time he'd seen Griff smile as well as look incrediably nervous. "Ah Griff..." he began as he studied his brother's expression. Yes definatly in euphoria at the fact that he was going to be a father. Lucan was anything but that at the moment, but he would eventually come round to the idea of there being a neice or nephew in his life. "Are you ok?" he frowned.

What a stupid question! Was he okay? He was a lot of things - ecstatic, terrified, nervous; okay was far too much of an understatement. He noticed his brother's frown. How could anyone be frowning? This was not a time for frowning! It seemed Lucan was just being ridiculous today - asking stupid questions and frowning when he should be spending his time hitting Griff in the face and telling him to calm down and to breathe, because breathing was probably only going to help.
He was just standing there, staring at his brother, not quite sure what to say. Well, he knew what he was supposed to be saying, it was the actual saying of it that was the difficult part. Telling Lucan made it all that much more real. He was going to be a father, he and Caitrin were going to be parents, were going to be expected to have a child and be responsible and keep it alive and not mess everything up like their own parents had done. And Lucan was going to be an uncle! That hadn't actually occured to him yet, he'd just been pre-occupied with his own position and completely neglected how this would affect his brother. Uncle Lucan...it had a nice ring to it.
Said brother and soon-to-be-uncle was just looking at him and Griff realised he hadn't actually said anything yet. He scratched his neck again and cleared his throat. Well...the best thing to do was probably to just say it. Subtlety had never been Griff's forte. "Thing is Luc...well, I'm going to be a father!"
