Aoife de Archer ran a hand over her face and tried once again to focus on the book she was reading. She frowned as the words began to blur, she wasn't sure how much of this she could take. Her cousins had been crying well into the night, and in the process they had kept her awake. It was getting better, Aoife supposed. At least now they only cried for some of the night, rather than for all of it. Her Aunt looked worn down with them, so as much as it irritated Aoife, she had taken herself off to the solar to read for the morning. She needed the peace away from her cousins anyway. She gave a short yawn and once again just tried to look at the words on the page. It had been so much easier to concentrate in Mercia; everything had been easier in Mercia. Thank God this was only short term. Well, she was going to be here for some time, but it wasn't permanent and that was the important thing really.
She looked up as her Aunt opened the door, dark lines under her eyes, "If anyone calls Aoife tell them I'm busy, I just have to give the twins a feed." Caitrin didn't really like feeding in public, she would of course if the situation demanded it, but for the most part she preferred the privacy of her chambers. Aoife nodded absent mindedly, they never got any guests anyway. She still couldn't' understand why her Aunt hadn't just hired a wet nurse, because her life would have been so much easier if she had. She had already had this argument with her Aunt though, and it hadn't ended well so she just nodded and returned to her book.
Her Aunt hadn't been gone long before the solar door opened again and revealed one of the servants. Aoife groaned and set aside her book once more and raised her eye brows at the woman who curtseyed lowly at the young noblewoman. Aoife stood up and looked the servant up and down,
"Forgive me for the intrusion my Lady, but Sir Lucan is here." Aoife raised her eye brows,
"Sir Lucan?" The servant nodded,
"Yes my Lady, Sir Griflet's brother." Aoife remembered him coming up in conversation once or twice with her Aunt and Uncle. She nodded stiffly and the servant just looked at her, "Should I send him in?" Aoife nodded quickly and waited for the woman to show her Uncle's brother in. Well, wasn't this going to be fun? Luc had decided to pay a visit to his brother that morning. He'd received a letter from his Uncle now that he was in Glouchedon taking care of the trivial things, whilst their father was unwell. The news hadn't exactly been good, and as well as the letter from his uncle, there was also one from Elaine to Griff. Lucan had been surprised at this - Elaine never sent any letters to anyone. Never the less, he'd said that he would deliver it to Griff and hope for the best.
He dismounted his horse as a servant hurried over and showed him into the house. "One moment my lord, I'll see if I can find Lord Griflet or Lady Caitrin for you"
"Thankyou" he smiled gratefully and waited until a few minutes later when the servant returned. "This way my lord, The lady Aoife will see you - Lady Caitrin is indisposed and i'm afraid that I cannot find Lord Griflet." Typical of Griff - Cait he could understand as she had her hands full. Who was Lady Aoife anyway? There was only one way to find out.
Once again he thanked the servant and followed them to the solar, where he was met with a young girl? Lady? Either way there was no mistaking that she was of the de Archer family. The red hair stood out after all as well as the challenging expression. Great.
"My Lady, im sorry for the interruption - I was hoping to find my brother here - I am Sir Lucan" he introduced himself.

Aoife hadn’t really heard much about Sir Lucan. Sure, she knew he was a Knight of Camelot, but that was about it. Her Aunt and Uncle hadn’t talked about him very much, then again they didn’t speak about much which didn’t involve the estate, or the twins, at the moment. Aoife still couldn’t believe how much time the twins took out of her Aunt’s day, it just surprised her. How much looking after could babies take? Sure, she had two so that meant double the work, but they couldn’t even walk or talk yet, how much trouble could they be?
Anyway, she dismissed these thoughts from her head and focussed on the task in hand. She was only fifteen, but she was going to try and act like she knew what she was doing. How hard could it be to get rid of this knight anyway? Maybe she could convince her Aunt to come down and deal with him herself, she just wanted to read. Why did adults always think their business was more important than anyone elses? She had things she could be getting on with as well.
As Lucan introduced himself, Aoife curtseyed lowly and bowed her head to him. She knew how to do this perfectly; she had had enough practice, “It is a pleasure to meet you my Lord, I am Lady Aoife de Archer.” She brought her head back up to meet Lucan’s gaze and gave a short smile, “I’m Lady Caitrin’s ward, she’s indisposed at the moment.” Aoife really wasn’t sure what to say past that, and she kept quite stiff in front of the man, “Did you want anything in particular my Lord?”
