He had recognised her stong accent of course. It was quite strange for a mercian to be in Camelot, but a friend of Arthur's was certainly a friend of his. She was a pleasure to talk to anyway. It seemed Arthur was very kind-hearted after all. That was nice to know. Despite how angry Elyan had been at Arthur he had to admit Arthur was a gracious and courteous man underneath. He didn't even feel angry anymore. It was almost as if he was experiencing mood swings. Again Elyan?...really? He wiped his hand over his face. There was something seriously wrong with him. He was still slightly insane but he was feeling a bit better and certainly more awake, and hey, at least he wasn't actually hallucinating. They say that's the first sign of insanity and thankfully the Lady Caitrin was in fact real.
“He was the one who offered me and my husband a place in the Castle for the birth.” Elyan glanced down at her swollen belly again. "That was very considerate of him, but the castle is of course the best place to have a child." He hadn't been quite insane enough to not have noticed her very pregnant state; she was very far along in her pregnancy it seemed. Elyan didn't really know a lot about pregnancy, but she looked huge and just about ready to burst. That must mean she's far along...right? He realised he had yet to congratulate her. "Ah yes and, congratulations! I'm sure she or he will be a very wonderful and healthy baby with flaming red hair." he chuckled. A child was a miracle, he knew that. A slightly annoying miracle, but a miracle none the less.
He had never really thought about settling down himself and actually having children of his own. He was always travelling and getting into trouble, although that had calmed down considerably since he was reunited with his sister and became a knight of Camelot. Looking at the evident happiness on the face of the heavily pregnant noblewoman beside him, it made him think about maybe considering settling down properly and having a family. He'd want to be in love first of course. But he just really wasn't sure he was ready to give up his freedom, which is what he'd surely have to do if he ever considered becoming a father. His freedom had always been very important to him. Gwen was probably sure to be with child soon anyway. Maybe he'd just have a go at being an uncle first then. He looked down at her stomach again. "What's it like having something growing inside you?" The words had slipped out of his mouth before he'd had the chance to stop them. He hadn't meant to say the question out loud, but he'd always been curious.

"Where would be best?" "I'm sure the tavern would do." The Rising Sun was usually the place where most of the knights would grab something to eat. The food isn't spectacular, but it's alright. The ale isn't too bad either. It would be a great place for them to talk. There were few other good places to eat in Camelot, but the tavern was the place to just relax and have a nice cold tankard of mead. He knew he needed one after the work he'd done today; just to unwind a bit. Company would be nice too, so he was definitely up for it. She seemed like a friendly person who would be great to have a conversation with and he was definitely up for some food. God knows he's needed something to eat since the morning. He was rather looking forward to it. She was an unusual person, he was sure there was more to her than meets the eye...even if what meets the eye was strange in itself. "I'd love to tell you more about Camelot. The story of how I became a knight is a long and interesting one, I'd be glad to tell it to you." But first there was work to be done!
"Thank-you, but you can call me Kory." He'd known many noblewomen to prefer being referred to by their titles; they probably thought it gave them a higher authority and the right to look down on people. Few nobles allowed others to call them by their names, Arthur being one of them, who asked him to call him by his name a while ago, and now Kory. "If that is what you wish, Kory." He guessed that probably told him a lot about her then. She was different, kinder and less stuck up than the stereotypical noble. He knew titles were important to most nobles and she was still a princess even if her kingdom had fallen. She was very odd, but in a good, unique kind of way. As he was measuring her height he heard a small laugh, he looked up to find a smile on her face. He blushed slightly, realising she must be ticklish.
She stepped on the platform and gave a little comment that made a familiar red tinge stain his dark cheeks. He didn't fail to notice the mirth in her voice. He had completely disregarded the fact that she was a woman, while he had been taking her measurements. He had put all his concentration on the work and calculations and had completely forgotten how inappropriate pressing rope to her side must have been. How embarrassing! He'd never had to make swords for a woman before, it was usually men who came to him, so he had taken her measurements the way he would have for anyone else; he should've been more considerate. The blush refused to fade. "I'm so sorry, I get a bit carried away and distracted while I work," he quietly said, while scribbling down her average weight on the same piece of parchment as before. "You can step down now. Your measurements are done, I just have to work out their proportions to your swords; just a few calculations."

She was a princess! His eyebrows shot up, and he failed to hear the rest of her sentence. He had been on the right train of thought then. That only made him feel even more remorse for her. She must have lost more than just her home, but her people as well...her kingdom. He should have known she was a noble before, because no matter how strange she was, all nobles carried themselves the same way; with confidence that could be seen as borderline arrogance and with grace. It was just how they were all raised. This girl...princess definitely walked with confidence in her stride. How could he have failed to notice? He was usually very observant. He smiled at her offer to get him food, and to be honest he was rather hungry. "That would be nice."
"Beautiful aren't they? Crafted by the warlords of Valaria. Each blade tells a story in the Valarian culture." He watched her take the other blade out and slowly accepted them. Now that he held them he could truly inspect at the intricate designs on the blades. He didn't recognize some of the symbols but the designs were beautiful. The blades themselves were also different, but they fit with each other like puzzle pieces. He marvelled at the craftsmenship like only a blacksmith could in regards to tiny differences in weight and length that his father had trained his hands to notice. "I have only visited Valaria once many years ago, so I don't know much about it." It was an unforgettable place, even though he'd only spent such a short time it made an impression on him. "Maybe you could also tell me what the blades say when I take you up on your proposition to get me something to eat," he chuckled. He had been completely distracted by the daggers but he quickly remembered his manners. Just because Valaria fell, it didn't make her any less of a noble. He bowed down. "Thank you, my lady."
Right, on to work! He grabbed an old balance and lifted it from a clutter in the corner of the forge. It was made of a large rusted pole with weights on either side of it and a platform at the bottom for a person to stand on. It wasn't extremely accurate but it would do. He also had a thin lenth of rope that his father had manually graduated, it also wasn't extremely accurate, but it was better than nothing. He mind was solely on the work now, it was his only concentration at this point in time. He held the rope against her and scribbled some measurements on a piece of parchment on his work table, as he made some calculations in his head. He then motioned to the balance and looked at her. "If you could step on the platform? The balance will help me get a rough idea of what your weight is."

He listened to her speak of her battle and how she met Percival. By the gods, she certainly got around, didn’t she? “That’s very brave of you to risk your own life, to save others.” It certainly put any curiosity as to why she'd need new swords to rest. It seemed she was some sort of hero maybe? Elyan had no objections to that whatsoever, on the contrary, he rather admired it, and it didn't come as much of a shock now. They lived in a cruel world; there could never truly be enough heroes. Someone would always need help. It almost saddened Elyan slightly to think about how cruel and unjust the world could actually be, but he still had faith that it could change, he always had, apparently so did this strange girl. He smiled at the thought of Percival saving people; it was just like him. He was a big strong man but with a surprisingly gentle and caring heart.
Elyan noted the far off look of awe in her eyes when she spoke of saving lives. Valaria! That was it! He had been trying to place her accent over the course of the conversation. He had visited the place a few years ago, only for a week; he had just been passing through. He had also heard of its unfortunate fall. "So you were from Valaria, I thought I recognized your accent. I'm very sorry for the loss of your home." He truly was. Even though he had been eager to leave her a few years ago, Camelot was his home. He didn't know what he do if she was destroyed...like Valaria had been. The poor girl, she must have lost everything. "There will be no need for you to pay too grand a price, in fact if the purpose of these weapons is to save lives then I will gladly charge you nothing." He didn't need her money, and now knowing where she was from, he was certain she probably needed the money a lot more than he did.
"I'm not too sure. The last swords I had I found when Valaria fell. I haven't had swords made for me since I was about thirteen... What would be your best guess, Elyan?" Swords made for her? She must have been a noble back in her home, and quite a rich one at that, to have swords made for her. That was certainly a shock to him. He'd never have guessed she was a noble. Elyan guessed there were probably a lot more surprises around this girl to come, and he should probably just expect the unexpected where Kory was concerned. It seemed she was quite literally one of a kind. "Well then, if it's alright with you, I'll just have to take a few measurements." That way he could make the swords fit around her specifications; so it wouldn't be as much of a burden to carry and wield. He'd make them uniquely for her in regards to height and most importantly weight. They couldn't be too heavy or too light. Although, she did look strong, so she could probably handle a bit of weight on the swords "I take pride on the quality of my work, so if it's not too bold to say, these swords will probably be much better than your others, a lot easier to use and less of a burden." He smiled warmly.
When she pulled out one of the daggers strapped to her thigh, he was instantly drawn to the precision of the blade. It was obvious, well at least to him, that a lot of care had been put into making it. The proportions were very near flawless and judging by the way she held it, it was almost perfectly balanced. He looked at it with awe. To a blacksmith like him, the weapon was practically a work of art. It looked stunning. He held out his hand slightly. "May I?" He motioned his hand toward the dagger. He wanted to get a feel of it. Although he was constantly praised for his work, he still hadn't created that one weapon he'd say was the best he ever made, for the rest of his life.

Hi Arthur! I know you've already done some for me but if you're up for it, maybe you could have another go with a few sigs and icons for Elyan just to have a variety to choose from, because I'm LOST in making stuff like that and yours are just SO amazing! I had a go the other day and they turned out horribly, so I reeeeaaally need your help in this I've nothing specific in mind, but maybe you could do a couple with him in chainmail? Other than that it's completely in your hands GO CRAZY! ;D

"I hope, that if you ever find I have offended your family's honor, that you will come to me." Elyan doubted Arthur would do anything like that, but then again he couldn't forget Arthur was still a noble, despite being a lot kinder than most. But they all had a certain arrogance about them, that none of them could fully shed. Not even the great Arthur Pendragon, if Elyan's hazy memory of a blonde haired pompous prince served him correctly. But it wasn't their fault really; it's just how all nobles are raised. But he'd be lying if he said Arthur hadn't changed since Elyan had last been in Camelot. Something told him Gwen probably had something to do with that. If it ever happened he'd know Arthur wouldn't mean it, he just might do it by accident. "Don't worry, Arthur. I won't hesitate to point it out." He chuckled.
Elyan listened intently as Arthur spoke about Gwen being his wife and queen. Images of his little sister on a throne with a crown atop her head flooded into his mind. She would be the perfect queen, he thought. Ever since they were children she was always very organised and calm. She was probably the only reason their family didn't completely fall apart after their mother's death. To be honest she looked after him more than he looked after her when they were children, despite him being the older sibling, and more so as they grew up since he'd always get himself into all sorts of problems. She was almost the complete opposite of Elyan, although she'd had her fair share of trouble. Despite not being born a noble or a princess, she'd always had a natural sense of grace and regality about her. However, unlike a lot of nobles she was always humble and could understand the people in a way that they never could; in a way that Arthur never could. She reminded him of their mother in that sense. He smiled. "She would make quite the queen, I think. The people will love her."
Elyan knew Gwen loved Camelot, despite all the bad things that had happened here; him leaving, their father dying and now to add to the list, she'd almost gotten burnt at the stake for sorcery. Elyan couldn't help but think that he could have done more to prevent them all. He could have been a better brother and stayed when she so obviously had needed him, instead of the selfish person he was. Maybe if he had stayed, he could have prevented their father's death. Elyan wasn't the type of person to dwell on the past or even spare a thought for the future, but after everything that had happened, he knew he had to change. He had to be more responsible, and caring and above all reliable. He knew that last point had always been an issue but he was going to change that now. "I think Gwen has put everyone's needs above her own for too long now. I'm ashamed to say I have not been the brother she deserves. But now I make it my duty, and yours too if what you speak is the truth," although Elyan didn't doubt it, "to take care of her for a change. She deserves love, care, safety and true happiness more than anyone I know."

“Come on, the tavern won’t wait forever.” Elyan chuckled at Gwaine's remark and grabbed his green cloak from the hook on his door. He didn't very much want a cold and a hangover tomorrow now did he? God know's the hangover on its own is going to kill him anyway, especially with training at the break of dawn. How he would find the will to wake up, he had no idea. Arthur had that look in his eye, when he told them what time the training was going to be earlier today. Which all the knights knew basically meant he was going to work them to the bone and beat them all to a pulp. He knew it was a horrible thing to think, but at least Gwaine would be there to suffer with him. Or they could just go to Gaius and drink that awful cure for hangovers he kept...which never really worked all that well. Tomorrow was going to be extremely brutal and Arthur never left any remorse. But now was not a time to think of such things, now was a time to live in the moment.
With a massive grin on his face, Elyan began to follow Gwaine through the corridors of the castle. "I was wondering Gwaine," he began. "With what everyone's told me about you and that tavern, how on Earth do they still allow you in there?" He teased. He's been told by some of the knights that Gwaine had been kicked out of the tavern more than a few times. Elyan would have expected that the owner would have had enough of Gwaine, and have just barred him. Just so he wouldn't have to deal with the trouble of kicking him out all the time. The fact that they were headed there now, meant Gwaine had much more charm than Elyan thought. "You'll have to teach me, because whenever I get into trouble I always seem to talk myself deeper into it."
He watched servants rush past him and passed a lot of the knights on guard duty. He gave most of them a small smile, which a few returned, mostly the servants and a couple of knights he knew. When they stepped outside, Elyan was hit with a wave of chills. The temperature difference between the outside of the castle and the inside was quite huge it seemed. He pulled his cloak tighter around him, and wished he'd worn something a bit thicker. It didn't matter though, right? He'd be in the much warmer tavern soon, with ale in his belly to warm right him up.

When she spoke of how Arthur introduced her to this view, he smiled knowingly. Of course he did, the poetic sop. He may put up a hard front as king but he was a real softy inside, if what he had heard from his sister was anything to go by. She told him lots of things about Arthur. She spoke of him quite a lot these days, but then again he was her husband after all...he'd never get used to that. He decided to quickly think of something random and oranges came to mind, oddly enough. Maybe it was a craving...no Elyan you're not the one who's pregnant; he rubbed his hand over his face. Gwen wouldn't say something overly huge and personal and certainly nothing gross, but sometimes she would accidently let slip a potentially embarrassing little fact about him.
Elyan would never in his right mind dream of using any of them against his sovereign, but right now he wasn't in his right mind. Since Arthur sort of put him in this mess in the first place, Elyan promised to himself to blackmail Arthur next time he ever thought about giving Elyan guard duty at night. Gwen would wring his neck of course, but it would be worth it. Elyan smirked, he'd probably forget this all in the morning anyway. It even made him feel slightly better, knowing that King Arthur, fighter of monsters and mighty warrior was just as manly as him. He brought himself back to Earth. In all honesty, who couldn't notice this view? It was positively spectacular.
The way she spoke of Arthur made him think they were close. They were friends maybe? That was probably the case. He creased his eyebrows and looked down at her question. Was he alright? He was feeling a little more awake after having someone (who was most definitely not a hallucination) to talk to. "To be honest, having someone to talk to has made me much better and more alert." His eyelids were no longer heavy. It was almost safe to say he would be useful if anyone chose to attack the castle at this moment, which many were prone to do. In all the places Elyan had ever visited, it seemed no one had more enemies than Camelot. They were certainly the most dangerous than Elyan had ever seen, with them mostly being magical and all. "At least I'm a little more sane now," he joked. He felt weirdly more comfortable around this lady than he'd normally be around a stranger. He wasn't sure if it was just his tired mind or her genuinely being a friendly person. He decided it was probably a mix of both. "So you obviously know Arthur, and quite well it seems, how did that come about?" He looked back out at the view.

He smiled down at her again when she introduced herself to him. Yes, he had heard her name thrown about round the castle, in conversations he'd overheard from the nobles and knights and even some of the servents. He'd never paid any mind before now, but it had been floating around in the back of his mind. So this was the pregnant noble woman they had been talking about. He should have known when he saw her. The piece of information just hadn't been at the forefront of his mind, since he had thought he was losing it at the time.
He chuckled slightly when she explained why she couldn't curtsey. "That's quite alright, my lady. There's no need for you to curtsey to me." She was actually quite nice, even though she had teased him slightly before. It was all in jest though and he had really deserved it after the whole hallucination debacle. He sighed inwardly. He was never going to live that down. It was a wonder she was still talking to him and hadn't decided to run the opposite way, away from a crazy man. She was also kind, especially for a noble. Many of the noblewomen Elyan had ever met had been stuck up and spoilt, she seemed a lot more down to Earth than them.
He listened as she spoke of the view of Camelot that they were both gazing at out of the window. "Yes, she is." Camelot was probably one of the most beautiful kingdoms out of all the places he had ever travelled. She was his home now and he felt honoured to call her that. "Especially under the moonlight. The lights from the lower towns almost look like stars." The spectacular view of Camelot in the night was probably the only good thing about being on guard duty all night. It would almost make staying up all night, worth it...almost. He then realised how rather unmanly his words had sounded. The lack of sleep was really getting to him. But it was true, he'd always thought the view of Camelot was like a picture from a fancy painting. "The view is probably one of the best parts of the castle, it is truly extraordinary."

“As I have never heard of an unreal person giving birth before, have you?” She looked and sounded amused he could tell. She was mocking him too, he was being mocked by a pregnant woman in the middle of the night. What had the world come to? He had never felt more embarassed in his life as he remembered everything he'd done, the way he stared at her. No wonder she had looked so confused before, he should have noticed that. He wasn't particularly observant when he was practically losing his mind from lack of sleep. What must she think of him? Why hadn't he just slept in the day? Ah yes because Arthur conveniantly told him of his duties just a few hours ago. Thank you, sire.
"I am so sorry, I thought I was hallucinating." Why would he even tell her that? It was like he had no control over what was coming out of his mouth, like it didn't even pass through his brain first to think about. If she didn't think he was crazy before she was sure to now. "I mean not hallucinating, well yes but... I just, well..." He couldn't even form a coherent sentence. "I'm on guard duty for the night, but I'm quite tired, so I thought I might have been hallucinating, because it's rather odd to see a pregnant women wandering around the castle at this time of night." He smiled warmly down at her, he felt a sense of accomplishment at making the sentence slightly more coherent. Even though it had been a little rushed.
"I'm Sir Elyan by the way." He decided now would be as good time as any to finally introduce himself and maybe try to move past the horrible humiliation and embarassment he had just endured. He took the time to finally look at her, not staring like he was before. Oh no, what must he have looked like? She was a bit shorter than him with flaming red hair. A colour he hadn't seen in Camelot before. He'd only seen hair like that when he'd travelled up to the North, a few years ago. She had a large swollen pregnant belly. It was always odd for Elyan to see pregnant women, how their tummies were severly out of proportion with the rest of their bodies. It was always a strange sight. He stood next to her and looked at the view she had been previously looking at before he had so rudely interrupted. It was a stunning sight, Camelot was beautiful under the moonlight. He looked on with awe.

It was a very slow day. Elyan was sitting in his chambers at his desk, doing some paperwork. He had to sort out the inventory and money for the forge. With the quill in his hand, he tried to concentrate on the numbers and figures in front of him. He groaned, his head just wasn't in it tonight. He couldn't make himself concentrate on the subtracting and addition. He was getting nowhere, he stood up. There had to be something he could do to entertain himself, or at least take his mind off the boring work he wasn't bothered enough to do. But most of the knights were on patrol save Gwaine. But he was probably with a girl or in the tavern getting thoroughly intoxicated as per usual.
He looked at his bed. Maybe he'd get an early night tonight. Arthur had said training tomorrow would be at dawn. The logical side of Elyan's mind told him the sensible thing to do was to sleep so he would be fully awake for tomorrow's sure to be brutal training session. But the other side of his mind wanted to have some fun. He wanted to be spontaneous tonight like he always used to be. He missed it. Who cares if he gets in trouble tomorrow? Who cares if he gets in trouble tonight? He surely didn't, he never really did. Elyan rarely got to have nights off and he wasn't going to waste it sleeping. He hadn't done anything reckless in ages and by the god's Elyan was going to be reckless tonight. Now the only problem was figuring out what he was going to do in the city. He sat down in front of the table in the middle of his chambers.
“Elyan, are you in there? There are two ales down at the Rising Sun, and they have our names on them." Elyan looked up at the sound of Gwaine's voice. Speak of the devil! Elyan was sure Gwaine knew how to have a good time. He could really use a tankard of ale to soothe his mind from all the boring work he had seemingly abandoned. He stood up while Gwaine went on about drinking the ale by himself. Elyan had no doubt that he probably would. He opened the door with a wide grin on his face. "Gwaine, just the man I wanted to see." The grin hadn't subsided yet. "I'd love to go to the tavern, but you're buying." Elyan was very sure of one thing; tonight would be a night to remember or rather a story everyone would have to tell him when he wakes up tomorrow morning with a horrid headache. He didn't even care.

It wasn't fair. It just simply wasn't fair. He needed sleep too didn't he? Arthur had told him and Gwaine, one of them would be on guard duty tonight around the castle. All night. He had left it up to them to decide, which was a big mistake, at least in Elyan's opinion. You'd think being brother in law to the King might have some perks in this, but no. When he was with the knights, Arthur treated them all the same. Elyan knew it was wrong to want special treatment, but couldn't Arthur have just spared him...one night? It seemed the answer was no. Naturally Gwaine made up some stupid excuse so Elyan had been stuck with the job. Elyan couldn't remember the particular lie Gwaine told and he doubted Gwaine did either. Gwaine was probably passed out drunk in the tavern right now, the lying sod.
Elyan knew he was especially irritable but he was tired, didn't that give him excuse to be? The entire castle was probably nice and comfortable in their warm beds under their cosy covers. He couldn't help but envy them at that moment. He sighed, all the knights had to go on guard duty at night at some point, he had been on guard duty before, but he would never get used to the horrible feeling of forcing yourself awake. Tonight just happened to be Elyan's night. He knew several other guards and a few servants were awake around the castle, probably as miserable as him. None of them were going to be good company, so he didn't even have anyone to talk to and make the time go by a bit faster. He wished he could, but he couldn't say they didn't need guards around the castle at night, especially after everything that's happened. He'd just have to strain through it, it would be over eventually. Just stick it out a few more hours. Elyan's head fell...this was going to be a long night.
When Elyan rounded a corner he heard heavy footsteps. It was probably one of the guards, or maybe a servant running around to finish the heaps of work they probably had to do. He wiped his hand across his face to keep himself awake. His eyelids were feeling heavy, he opened them to see a very heavily pregnant woman looking out of the window. Great! He was hallucinating. "Hello?" He was finally going crazy! As to why he'd hallucinate a pregnant red haired woman was beyond him.
He walked towards her and stared at her, just full on stared at her like he'd never dare to stare at anyone back when he was sane. Those were the days. He shook his head, he'd be no use in his current state if anyone chose to attack the castle now. He sincerely hoped nobody did. He'd probably look very strange to her...if she were real. Although she looked rather familiar like he'd seen her around the castle. His eyes went slightly wide as realisation dawned on him, she was real. He really needed some sleep. "Sorry, I was just...you know just...you are real, right? He wanted to make sure, before he passed assumptions.

Her eyes were kind, kinder than he expected from someone who had been in battle and probably witnessed death. He noticed now the scratches and scrapes on her skin. She must be very brave. He was surprised to hear that she knew Percival. He listened to her confirm his theory that she was a warrior and that she lost her swords. "Hello Kory. So you know our Percy then." the way she spoke of him told him they were quite close. "The honour is all mine. I will gladly offer my services." He smiled warmly at her. "Money won't be a problem I'll take what you give me, I relish in the work not the pay."
He watched her reach out her hand and he took it. She was a strange woman he had already gathered, but if she was a friend of Percival then she must be alright. He was aware that he probably smothered her hand with black soot, but it wasn't at the forefront of his mind when he looked at her. She was a very beautiful woman, he wasn't blind, but she looked confident and strong, and she was quite kind to. It was an occurance and combination he's rarely seen, except with his little sister Gwen of course, but she was no warrior, not in the literal sense at least, like Kory seemed to be. He wasn't naive enough to completely trust someone when meeting them, but she looked like the kind of person to be open with their emotions. He dropped his hand and brought himself back to Earth.
"Are there any specific sizes you wanted, or any measurements you need to give me?" He arranged his thoughts back onto blacksmith mode. He really needed to stop daydreaming, which he seemed to be doing a lot lately. "I'm afraid two swords may take a while though, maybe a week at the very least." He'd have to work on them daily if he was to be finished with them in a week. They were bound to take longer with the several pieces of armour he needed to fix as well, thanks to the recent tournament. He didn't want to rush the swords either, he had always taken pride in the quality of his work, and rushing would hinder that. He knew he'd never be as good a blacksmith as his father was but he would try to make him proud, of both him and the forge. He would try to make sure these swords were works of art, because he had a feeling this girl...Kory was going to need to use them soon.

Elyan couldn't remember the last time he had eaten. Had he even eaten today? His stomach grumbled, giving him his answer. He always forgot about eating when he was in the forge. He was too concentrated on his work. Gwen would occasionaly come in while he was working and give him a sandwich or just an apple, she was probably too busy in the castle now. He was working on a dagger for one of the nobles, she was a woman oddly enough. She had come to him telling him she needed a dagger but couldn't go to the royal blacksmith. Despite how curious he was at the reason for a noblewoman to require such a weapon he didn't ask any questions and obliged.
He had finished shaping it but the metal was still burning hot. He immersed it in the bucket of water he had already had prepared and relished in the sound of the quickly cooling metal. He had always loved that hissing sound when he was a child. He used to think it sounded like hundreds of snakes, and would use it to scare Gwen when they were children. He took the metal out and left it on his counter, it would still take some time before it fully cooled and he could smooth out the edges and sharpen it. He never rushed his work, so he decided that was it for the day. Maybe now he could finally have something to eat. Judging by all the work he'd done and the soot covering his hands and most probably his face, he's need a bath too.
"Hello? Is anybody here?" Maybe not then. "Yes." He saw a flash of red hair and then a girl...a woman stood in front of him. Were they planning to revolt against the men or something?! He chuckled at the thought. When he looked up at her, he couldn't stop the way his eyes went wide and his jaw probably dropped but he was too distracted to notice. She was probably the stangest person he'd ever seen. She was wearing leather...very tight leather, he hadn't failed to notice. He had never seen anyone with eyes as green as hers or hair as red for that matter. If he hadn't known any better he might have thought she was some sort of witch. She looked like a warrior. He could see in her eyes that she had seen battles and bloodshed and death, yet she was still alive. They had hardly spoken but he strangely admired her for that. He admired anyone who came out of battle alive. He'd had his fair share and he knew how hard it is, how it changes you somehow. He came out of his thoughts and remembered himelf, "Sorry, was there something you needed?"
