"He certainly has his charms... Which you are also quite charming yourself. Especially your smile... I like it... A lot." Elyan grinned at her compliment. "Thank you very much." It was incredibly nice of her to say. Elyan loved smiling though; it was mainly because he was usually happy all the time. Life was to short to waste having regrets and being sad all the time. "Your smile is quite a stunning sight too." It really was, it was wide and it always reached her eyes, lighting up her whole face. It also seemed to be quite contagious at times. It reminded him of his sister, how she always manages to make him smile even in the darkest of times.
When she answered his inquiry as to if she had seen a physician he breathed a sigh of relief. He had been genuinely concerned for her. He knew even the smallest wounds could easily get infected, and some of hers didn't look particularly small. As she further continued asking if he wished to make sure she was alright, he gently shook his head. "I'm no physician, but I'm relieved that you've had them checked out," he admitted honestly. "Wouldn't want you getting ill or injured." He smiled when she held his hands; it truly felt like they could have a good friendship. He felt happier at the thought, and couldn't wait to get to know more about the wonderfully strange woman before him. He was sure there was a lot more to know about her.
It warmed his heart to see her excitement about learning a bit about the art of being a blacksmith. Most people found it too hard or boring, which Elyan would never understand. Quite frankly he thought it was wonderful, and her enthusiasm just spurred him on. "I wouldn't go quite as far as calling my teaching masterful," he joked. "But I can assure you that the honour and pleasure is most definitely all mine." He gave a slight bow when he spoke and smiled warmly at her. It would be fun, he thought to himself. He was sure there would be a few burns here and there, but he would try hard to make sure she enjoyed the experience. He'd never really had an opportunity to teach before, it was almost a little daunting, he just hoped he would get the hang of it quickly.
When she thanked him for his words he heard the sincerity in her voice. As if he had given her so much more than a few words of comfort. It warmed his heart to know that he had caused her to be as happy as she seemed when she spoke those simple words of thanks. Her kiss had made him smile and brought a bit of colour to his cheeks. He stood there watching her as she laughed awkwardly and blushed. It seemed he was not the only one who could blush. He laughed inwardly at his thought. As she joked with him about a future of joining baths, he chuckled. "I'm sure a bath with you wouldn't be terrible," he jested "But for today separate baths will do me fine." He enjoyed joking with Kory, it just felt so relaxed and care-free, it was his favourite feeling. "I'll see you later at the tavern then." He couldn't wait. "I promise I won't drown." He said, referring to her last comment. "For you," he added with a little wink. He was an alright swimmer and he wouldn't go to deep into the river he was planning on bathing in.

Elyan chuckled when Gwaine called himself their best customer. It was almost understandable...except for one crucial point. "As far as I've heard, you're notoriously known for not paying for your drinks." Elyan smirked. He'd heard that on many occasions, Gwaine hardly ever paid for his own drinks. He was well aware that he'd probably be paying for their drinks tonight. But he didn't have a huge problem, as long as they didn't drink too much...Who was he kidding? They were both probably going to drink themselves silly and to be honest Elyan couldn't care less. He really loved that feeling.
At Gwaine's next words he outright laughed. "I expect you know the women in the tavern quite well," he teased. He wasn't really the type to chat up women in taverns, but Gwaine it seemed was a ladies man. "Let's just say I'm not particularly good at knowing when to say the right thing." He chuckled inwardly at a few memories, where he'd most certainly said the wrong thing, and had gotten himself into heaps of trouble. "Maybe you could show me a technique or two?" He winked back at Gwaine. Elyan could always do good to learn, even from Gwaine. He definitely knew he needed it.
"Not cold are you?" He watched Gwaine walk without a cloak. "How could I not be?" He pulled his cloak even tighter around him. "It's freezing out here." How Gwaine wasn't shaking like a leaf from the cold, was beyond him. Despite them being brothers at heart, Gwaine would forever be a mystery to Elyan. He expected Gwaine had probably gotten used to walking to the tavern in the freezing cold. Elyan could see a small sign in the distance he could make out the words 'The Rising Sun' despite the darkness. Finally! They were almost there. He could already hear the increasing sound of talking and laughter from inside the tavern and he could hardly wait to step inside.

“Indeed, it is a crime that you are not yet attached, sir.” He smiled at her tease. "Attached being the word I would use to describe it," he raised an eyebrow in jest, while looking ahead of him. "Maybe someday I will find someone, but right now I'd much rather enjoy my freedom." He didn't like to much think of the future; of a wife and bouncing babies. Although it was a little difficult not to think of children when he was talking to a heavily pregnant woman. His sister was always gently hinting at him to find someone, but she was becoming less subtle by the minute. He loved her for it, he really did; but he knew only true love, as in head over heels love could ever be enough to make him consider settling down.
He listened intently when she mentioned the King at least attending. "Well if the King attends, then I'm sure the Queen will too." As a newly married couple, they were rarely apart; practically joined at the hip. It was a wonderful sight to see, especially with the blinding smile that constantly adorned his sister's face. “Do you know her well?” He looked at her when she asked the question. "Yes, very well," he smiled. "She's actually my sister," he said with evident pride. He had always been proud of his sister; of the strong and kind-hearted woman she was. Now, everyone in the kingdom could share that pride with him. For she was more than just his little sister now; she was Queen.
Her laugh warmed his heart and made him chuckle too. “I’d love for them to have red hair.” Elyan grinned. "They would certainly be unique." He could already imagine a red haired child running around the castle. His grin didn't subside. At her next words, he nodded softly. "Of course, a walk would be nice seeing as I'm supposed to be on guard." He was doing a spectacular job of that! Frankly he didn't much care. "Is the little one keeping you awake?" He felt a little concerned, but he assumed it was normal. He imagined it must be a challenge to sleep, when a baby was growing inside of her.

He smiled as she complimented his sister. It was always nice to hear that people appreciated her for the wonderful woman she was. It was about time, in his opinion. His eyebrows shot up when she mentioned tripping the king. "You tripped up Arthur?!" He was obviously surprised. He guessed only this strange woman in front of him could meet the King by tripping him up. He inwardly chuckled at the image. "So you met Gwaine, I imagine that was fun." He said when she mentioned meeting him. It must have been entertaining; he was certainly...unique. That was definitely a way of describing the man. He wanted to know more, but decided they could discuss it at the tavern. After he'd had a bath and felt significantly cleaner.
Speaking of baths...He chuckled at her comment. He noticed the specks of dirt and soot on her now, no doubt from this place. It always managed to get everyone who entered it a bit dirty. He couldn't help but also notice the scratches on her; it made him feel concerned for her. "Have you had those checked out?" He asked motioning his hand toward the scratches. "We have an excellent court physician if you should need him." He didn't want to push her, but he thought he'd just make sure she was aware. She was beginning to be a good friend; he wouldn't want her be harmed or suffer pain. Elyan knew how stubborn some warriors could be in the face of treating an injury. Heck, he was a knight, and knew what it was like! "A little bit of danger can be fun... If its like the heat I'm feeling now, I can defiantly get used to it." He looked down at the once hot coals; they were merely burning embers now. "Then I can't wait to teach you."
At her words to their sombre turn of conversation, he smiled warmly. "It is always a comfort to know one is not alone." He would be lying if he said that Kory was not his friend now. He knew it was foolish to trust everyone, but he had seen how sincerely kind she was and...well, unique. He decided it wouldn't be too bad to take a chance on her, or a risk. He had always been the spontaneous type, so why should this be so different? He decided it wasn't.
His jaw dropped almost comically when she mentioned joining baths. Joining baths?! This woman wasn't just odd; she was completely insane! His cheeks couldn't even blush. On the contrary, the colour had drained from his face. It wasn't all that noticeable though, due to his dark complexion. He shut his mouth, and decided to take her words as a tease. He'd always been easy to tease, even when he was a child. Which his sister never failed to use to her advantage. "I think it would be a good idea to have separate baths for now," he winked. But of course, he wasn't completely horrid at teasing

"I am afraid to face him," He looked into her eyes and saw there was true fear there. He couldn't bring himself to lie to her and tell her that there was nothing to be afraid of. She'd call him up on the lie. The truth was, everything was at stake. Arthur's decision on what would happen to them and the child was enough to cause fear in anyone's hearts, especially his sisters. He felt a few tears fall from his eyes, but he ignored them. "I know you can face him Gwen," he said encouragingly, it was as if she was going to face some big monster. "You're the strongest person I know." He meant that, even after everything that had happened. She had made a mistake and yes, he was dissappointed and angry. But was one mistake enough to completely forget everything she had done for him for his entire life? He decided the answer to that was no. She had forgiven him for so much in his life. He would be a fool not to be there for her now, in her time of need. He imagined this was how she must have felt all those times he had disappointed her. That was why he had no doubt she was strong-hearted.
"What if he does not believe me?" The question had crossed his mind of course. He was silent for a few moments, because he didn't know how to answer her. There was a huge chance he wouldn't believe her. He might think it was some ploy to keep her from being banished. "I will wait for you here, when you go." He didn't want her to feel alone. He would be there for her every step of the way. "So you know that you are not alone, no matter what he says." He knew that was not enough, not even close. He purposefully didn't directly answer her question. He didn't want to shatter her heart more than it already had been. Because his brutally honest answer would have been that Arthur would most likely not believe her. It was cowardly of him to deflect from her question, but he knew he'd never be able to bear seeing any more pain in her eyes.

"He sent me away, if I return it's on pain of death." He closed his eyes at her words. "You and I both know he could never let you die." Yet even though Elyan knew this, the words still hurt for him to hear. It was painful to even think that any harm could come to his sister. She was too precious to him, despite everything. Arthur would still be extremely angry and hurt of course. But was it not better to tell him sooner rather than later. Elyan feared if they waited Arthur would just be even angrier. It was also Arthur's right to know of course. Of his child, in the womb of his sister. "He has to be told, and soon too, otherwise it'll just be worse." If Arthur would feel angry he'd only be more furious to know that she kept the news of his son or daughter from him.
He kept his arms around her as she spoke on of her fears that Arthur would think the child was not his. It made Elyan almost feel guilty for inquiring it. But he'd had to be responsible, and cover everything. It had been a relevant question and one Elyan had no doubt Arthur would ask. He feared what it would do to Gwen. "You must be prepared for everything he will say, do and ask," he said in reference to her fears. "He is in a fragile state after...what happened." Elyan tried to choose his words carefully. "You're going to have to expect that he will ask it, either as an actual inquiry or just in spite." Elyan had never known Arthur to be spiteful but as he'd told Gwen, he was in a very fragile state. He didn't know what to expect from him.
Elyan tried to appear level-headed, for Gwen. But in all honesty he had no idea what they were doing or what they were going to do. Would Arthur still banish her, even after knowing she carried his child? Elyan doubted it, but they had to be ready for the possibility. Elyan would have to help raise the child of course. He'd get a job, and try to support them. Would he be able to afford to care for a family...a child? All these thoughts and questions were in his mind and he didn't know what to do with them. He never usually thought about the future, never had to be practical and rational. That was always Gwen. But now he had to take on her role and he didn't know how to. He felt truly terrified, more than he had ever been. He needed her, but she was fragile right now. He held Gwen tighter, more for himself than for her.

“It would suit you!” Elyan laughed with her, while brushing his hand through his hair. Where his laughter subsided, the grin that had appeared on his face did not. Her next words however wiped the grin off his face, replacing it with an awkward smile and an obvious blush. Elyan wasn't the coy type, more the quiet type. But this particular subject had the power to make him blush like a teenage girl. It was something his sister also teased him mercilessly about. In all honesty, there were a few ladies in court that had shamelessly flirted with him on many occasions especially with his role as 'the most eligible bachelor' due to his status as brother to the queen and brother in law to the King. It was a very strange role to be in. Women who would never have looked at him twice or maybe three times are now asking for his name and starting random conversation, where a lot of flirting ensues. He had to admit having the attention of extremely attractive ladies was very nice indeed, but he wasn't the type to toy with the affection of women. He wanted to find someone who loved him for him, with all his flaws. But until then, he wasn't complaining. "I am quite dashing aren't I," he jested.
“I shall make sure that you meet the little one when they arrive.” He smiled at that. "I look forward to it," he said, the smile still evident on his face. When she spoke of the christening he grinned back at her. "I should hope to attend it, if that's alright." It would be wonderful. "I expect the King and Queen will be in attendance?" With Arthur being her friend, he'd expect him to attend, and if he would be there then Elyan's sister surely would. He would make Gwen come either way. Gwen liked things like this; she'd enjoy it. "Guinevère usually enjoys things like that," he said with familiarity. Did Caitrin know of his relation to the queen? Since he had they had just met, he expected not.
He was very relieved that she wasn't in pain. But, being a man, he was no closer to comprehending how it felt to be pregnant. He guessed 'strange' was a very good word to describe it, seeing as an actual person was growing inside of her. It was truly extraordinary when you thought about it. She was harbouring life in her abdomen; protecting a baby. It made him smile. He listened to her next words. "I'm sure your baby will be very strong and very healthy," he said sincerely. "And maybe a wild little one too," he said laughing. "A fiery personality would match his or hers, red hair."

"Yes Gwen is my sister," he answered. "I guess it's no surprise you've heard of her then." His heart swelled with pride when he spoke of his sister; of how far she had come. Elyan knew of no one who deserved to be where she was, than her. She was truly happy now and he knew she made a fantastic queen. She was humble and responsible. She never backed down from what she believed in. She was one of the few people in this world that Elyan admired with his whole heart. Although thinking of his little sister Gwen as Queen of Camelot and wife to King Arthur Pendragon, would never cease to shock him. The thought of his sister on the throne, it was quite a sight to behold.
At her next words he outright laughed. Looking down at the dirt and soot on his clothes and hands, he definitely agreed with her. "I'll have to say I agree with you there, I could definitely do with a good wash," he chuckled. He could already imagine what the water would feel like. His muscles felt tense after a hard days work; the warm water would do wonders for them. He was already smiling at the thought. And with the tavern to go to afterwards, it would be great. She wiped a little bit of dirt off his cheeks and her comment made a light blush appear on his cheeks. What was he doing? Men don't blush! But here he was blushing at the actions of this strange woman he was already beginning to consider as a friend, despite the fact they had only just met.
"Hopefully it won't be too dangerous," he laughed. "You get used to the heat after a while," he said, referring to the hot coals. After years of growing up and working as a blacksmith, Elyan wasn't fazed by heat and burns. He had been burned many times over the years with dozens of scars to prove it, but now the pain wasn't anything new. He guessed that was probably quite a good thing in the end, it helped slightly in battle and in training with the knights. He could withstand pain much better now, all because of his profession. Yet another great thing about being a blacksmith; he smiled.
At the turn of conversation to loneliness and isolation, he had a sombre face. "Hopefully neither of us will have to suffer it," he said sincerely. He never wished to live or die alone, but hadn't really spared a thought yet at settling down or starting a family. He wasn't sure if he was ready for that kind of commitment. It was the kind of commitment that required the sacrifice of something that was so dear to him. His freedom. But the cost of having his freedom was being alone; he had paid that price gladly all those years ago. He had practically abandoned his family. But now he wasn't sure he would be so willing to pay it. He didn't want loneliness. He decided now wasn't a time to think about these things, he was never the type to think over the future too much. It was too much work.
"If it won't damage your tongue, I am all ears... Although would it be best to stop our stomach's from rolling away, first?" At her words, his stomach decided to grumble loudly, as if to emphasize them, he laughed awkwardly. "I think that's probably a good idea." He remembered how hungry he was feeling. Food would be a good idea, but he wished to be clean first. "I think I'll have a bath first, so I can truly enjoy the meal." He was looking forward to it already. "And lets not forget the ale," he added. No, they could never forget the ale. "I could meet you at the tavern, if that's alright with you."

"I've known for about a week." So it was definitely Arthur's then. He wasn't sure if he should feel relieved or not. This kind of news could crush Arthur after everything that's happened. "Oh Gosh, what are we going to do?" He hadn't meant to say it out loud. It was just a force of habbit for him to ask that question of Gwen. She was always the calm one who got him out of his problems for his entire life. She was a natural at it. He wasn't. He'd never been put in this position of responsibility before. In all honesty it was a big reason why he had left all those years ago; to escape things like this. Now, he couldn't run or hide and that terrified him more than he would admit to anyone; more than he'd admit to himself.
"N-no," she answered him. Arthur didn't know, just as he'd expected. " was going to tell him tonight." He closed his eyes and wiped his hand over his face. "Oh Gwen." He looked at her, still on her knees with teartracks on her cheeks. It was a sight he never wished to see in his entire life. He fell to his knees in front of her and looked at her right in the eyes to convey the seriousness of his next words. "You have to tell him." It was the first thing that had to happen. That, he was sure of. He knew what the consequences of telling Arthur could be, but he had a right to know of his child. And they would deal with the repercussions later. That was generally how Elyan dealt with things.
Elyan put his arms around her and just held her close so she could cry on his shoulder. Even after what had happened she was still his little sister, and he loved her no matter what. This was what she needed and what he needed just as much; to hold his sister in his arms, as if everything was going to be alright. He was still angry and dissapointed and confused but this embrace gave him an ounce of hope, if only for a moment. Hope for their future; for her baby's future, as naive and foolish as it sounded. But it was what he needed. What they both needed.

“I’m not sure my husband would be too pleased at the red hair.” He chuckled. "In my opinion, red hair reminds me of the sun, it's a rather spectacular hair colour," he said sincerely. He put his hand on his head. "I was never blessed with the colour I'm afraid," he said with mock sadness. "Although I do think it would rather suit me," he jested, laughing with her. This is nice, he thought. They were having a wonderful little conversation, and Elyan would be lying if he said he wasn't enjoying it. All the knights always had to be so serious while they were on guard duty. Elyan would much rather be more carefree and just laugh with the occupants of the castle like he was doing now; he knew the other knights would agree with him.
“But thank you, he or she is due any day now, so I shall be sure to update you on the hair situation.” He laughed at the remark. "Please be sure to, I will be very anxious in anticipation." He smiled at the thought of her baby. As unmanly as it sounded, and he'd never admit it to others, especially the other knights; he thought babies were extremely cute. He was already excited for the new arrival to make his or her appearance in the castle. The fire-haired baby would be a wonderful addition to the tired old fortress. After meeting the baby's mother, he knew it would be a wonderful little one. He was pleased to admit that the Lady Caitrin was a delight, so hopefully so would her baby be. Elyan liked children, although from afar! He almost envied them for their abundant sense of freedom that only a child could truly have. As they say, ignorance is bliss. After everything Elyan had seen, he knew and had come to accept that the world was cruel and unfair sometimes. Children never thought about that kind of thing, they were free of it. Elyan simply wished, once in a while, he could be to; for just a moment. He snapped out of his thoughts; now was not the time for them. Not on the eve of a child's birth.
He hadn't meant to ask the question it had just slipped out. He hadn't even known he'd said it out loud until he saw her react to it. Her answer left him a little shocked. If she was in pain, she hadn't really shown it over the course of their conversation. She had stretched a few times, but he had just thought it would be because of the strain of the massive weight around her waist, caused by the baby. "Well I can't say it makes sense," he didn't think he really wanted to understand how that felt. "But I can say that I am very grateful I will never be in your position. I guess men should appreciate women more for what they have to go through," He said with joking sincerity. "Are you in pain?" He creased his eyebrows in worry for her.

He listened to her speak of her sister's choices. She appeared to have a very forgiving heart, but he could comprehend it. "I understand. I have a sister and no matter what she did I could never hate her," he explained. He truly believed in what he said. If his little sister did anything like that to him, he barely wanted to even imagine it; he couldn't even perceive hating her. It was like the emotion just couldn't be directed at her, even if he tried. He just physically wasn't capable of ever hating her, especially after everything she had done for him, everything she had forgiven him for. He would never be able to express how grateful he was for her forgiveness for abandoning her to be selfish. He'd never make it up to her, but being there for her would just have to be a start. "God knows she's forgiven me for more than her fair share."
He was attentive as she spoke on, he had sort of begun noticing now that he had been apologising quite a lot in this conversation. He feared it may be something subconscious or something like that. Elyan was never really interested in how the mind worked. There was one person Elyan truly wished he could apologise to, it was probably a big contributor to why it was almost painful to think about him. He couldn't shake the feeling that had he not been so selfish and left all those years ago, his father wouldn't have died. Like he could've prevented it somehow. The last time he had spoken to his father hadn't been on good terms and if there's one thing Elyan regrets in this life, that was it. But, although he knew it was selfish, he couldn't bring himself to regret his travels; he hadn't felt so free in his life. As crazy as it sounded, Elyan would speak to his father in the forge sometimes, it was like making up for lost time. It just made him feel a little better, as if his father could hear him. Elyan just hoped he was proud of him.
He laughed at her elbowing him and her remark. "Quite right, Sir Elyan the Great will protect us all," he said mockingly puffing out his chest. It would be great to finally have some company in here, people rarely came and stayed for long, it used to usually be just Gwen when she wasn't busy. People just couldn't withstand the high temperature. "I hope you can stand the heat," he said raising an eyebrow in mock challenge while chuckling slightly.
He listened on, she was right. Although it wasn't so much about him growing up, it was more about him accepting the responsibility he had so blatantly refused. He guessed in a non-literal way, isn't that what growing up truly was? He knew with his whole heart and soul that he'd never give up his freedom, not totally. It was too important to him. "Is that not everyone's fear?" He agreed. "Even those with the blackest of hearts fear being alone." He wanted to live life to its fullest. That was something he thought they both had in common. He definitely agreed with that last part, everyone who had ever lost anyone would agree.
"Where were you before coming back to Camelot?" He thought for a moment before answering. "I was in the Kingdom of Escetia actually; I was working as a blacksmith in one of the villages, just learning new things." He fondly remembered the people he had met there and the new things he had learned. "It's actually a rather interesting story of how I came to Camelot, but a rather long one." He smiled at the memory of reuniting with his little sister. "Would you like to hear it?"

It was very near heartbreaking for Elyan to think that a sibling could ever want to harm another. He could barely imagine it. In his wildest imagination, Elyan couldn't bare to think of ever betaying his sister like that. He loved her too much to hurt her in any way. No matter what Gwen did, he'd always forgive her just like she'd always forgiven him. He'd thought that was a given in most families. Appartently, not in Kory's. "I'm sorry." It was all he could say. All he could think of to say to her, though it probably wasn't enough. She seemed alright, which in Elyan's opinion, was pretty outstanding. He could hardly imagine what he'd do if Gwen ever betrayed him like that. It was almost painful to think about. But he knew in his heart, she could never do that, no matter what happened between them.
"It would take a lot to offend me Elyan... I know what you meant... Besides words are the expression of who we are, actions speak a great deal more." He smiled at her words. "That's rather poetic actually." It was beautifully said. He decided he keep a note of it in his head for the future.
His heart hurt slightly when he spoke of his father. He may have died many years ago but the pain of his loss would always be there. He had just learned to deal with it better over the years. She had guessed that his father was dead; he had made it rather obvious. Her words sounded almost poetic once again. "I'm not ashamed, I'll never be ashamed of what makes me happy." He was so very proud of being Tom the blacksmith's son, he always would be. He smiled at her question. "It would be my pleasure to show you some of the basics." He loved his work and sharing that with someone would be wonderful. "I can almost promise you'll love it." She seemed like the kind of person who didn't mind a little hard work. He hoped she'd maybe find it fun.
Her answer to his question was rather beautiful he thought. "Well said." So she loved what she did, just like him. "I used to be the same sort of," he said referring to his younger years. "Live in the moment, trouble maker, that was me." He chuckled when some memories of his many predicaments over his travels and life surfaced to the front of his mind. "I guess I sort of calmed down a bit, when I came back to Camelot." He'd become more responsible, finally acting like the older brother Gwen deserved. "But I think I'll always be a free spirit at heart." He knew he'd always want to relish in his freedom. It was one of the most important things to him. But he had to give it up, if only slightly, when he came back to Camelot. For Gwen's sake; and he didn't doubt, not for a second, whether it was worth it.

"Elyan," He looked at her, listening to what she wanted to say. "I am carrying Arthur's child." At her words, he froze. Everything around him froze. Realisation dawned on him; this is what she had been hiding. He didn't know what to say. He could barely make a coherent thought. She was with child?! As soon as the words had come out of her mouth everything became instantly more complicated. He hadn't even thought that were possible. She wasn't looking at him, but he was staring at her wide eyed. How could this be happening? This couldn't be happening. He'd always thought the day Gwen told him she was pregnant would be a day of joy. Joy at the prospect of becoming an uncle, but today, the news only brought him pain and sorrow.
Elyan almost felt ashamed at his next words, but he had to be sure. "Are you sure it's Arthur's?" He had to be the responsible one now; it was finally time for him to act like the older sibling he was, instead of the other way round like it had almost always been. He could no longer look to Gwen for advice, it was she who was looking to him. Elyan hadn't even been aware she had slept with Arthur yet. He knew he hadn't ever wanted to know the gross details of Gwen and Arthur's relationship, but he had always assumed she'd wait until their wedding night. "God, Gwen how could you have been so stupid?!" He was lashing out, he knew that. He also knew this was the last thing she needed, but he was angry; at what, he wasn't yet sure. There were so many things to choose from.
"Does he even know?" Had she told Arthur yet? From the way Arthur had stormed out before, and from the judgment he'd given her, he doubted she had. Elyan knew she had to tell him; he had a right to know, after all it was his child. But Arthur was a broken man now. Elyan dreaded to think what news like this was going to do to him. If Elyan felt shocked and angry at this, Arthur's reaction was going to be a million times worse. But no matter what, Elyan was certain of that one thing. Arthur needed to be told.

"I am to leave." He had expected that. "And not return on pain of death." He closed his eyes at her words and wiped his hand over his face, as if to wake himself up from this torturous nighmare. "It could've been worse." He didn't want to think about the judgement Arthur could have passed. He decided to just be grateful Gwen had been given an ounce of a chance. The second part of what she had said hurt his heart. He knew, or rather hoped that if Gwen ever did return Arthur would not execute her. But the threat of his sister's death alone was enough to make his very soul hurt. He'd never allow it to happen. He knew his father wouldn't either. Oh, his father; what would he think if he saw his daughter now? Elyan dreaded to think.
"I-I don't know where to go." They were going to have to sort many things out in such a short time, so that she could leave. He tried to push all bitter thoughts out of his mind so that he could concentrate. "We'll be fine. We'll find a place and we'll be fine," he said, already assuming he was going with her. He knew they weren't going to be fine, far from it in fact. But he hoped saying it would help. He already began planning in his head, although he was terrible at it. He was still deciding whether he should say goodbye to the knights, his brothers, or not.
He rubbed his hand on his forehead. "I'll have to tell Percival or someone, to tell Arthur that I'm leaving the knighthood." They'd need horses and food for their journey to wherever they were going. He looked at her face again, and noticed something. Just for a second, but he knew that look. She was hiding something from him, although what she could possibly hide was beyond him. He decided he wouldn't press on the matter, they would have plenty of time on their journey. He also silently decided journey was definitely a better word than banishment.

Elyan didn't know what to think...what to feel. He felt angry and almost betrayed by what happened. He could only imagine how Arthur must feel, to be honest he didn't really want to. He could scarcely believe what had happened; this was Gwen they were talking about. His little sister who always had her head screwed on straight. She was the wisest person he knew, so how could she do this? He felt an overwhelming sense of dissapointment, that he never thought he could ever feel for Gwen. He knew how hard she and Arthur had fought just so they could be together, and for her to throw all that away at the last hurdle...it was near heartbreaking. It just didn't make sense, this wasn't like her, Gwen was always the resposible one. She'd never do this. But the truth of the matter was that she had, and no matter how much he wished it, this wasn't some bad dream. This was real.
He'd been waiting outside the doors, down the corridor. He'd heard the shouting from there. He watched Arthur storm out, who didn't see him. He was curious as to what the judgment was. He knew, had Uther been ruling, the judgment would have been death. But Elyan doubted Arthur could do that to Gwen, and Elyan knew, no matter what, he'd never allow it to happen...even after everything, she was still his sister. He creaked open the door to see her bent over on the ground and sobbing. He looked away; he couldn't bare to see her like this. Even after what she'd done, his heart would always hurt when he watched her cry.
"Gwen," he began quietly. He hardly knew how to continue. "Gwen, what have you done?" He wanted to understand, he just wanted to know why. He'd always thought her love for Arthur was one of the rare things in life he could always be sure of, but now...it was all so confusing. "Just help me understand Gwen, because I can't!" He raised his voice slightly, but not in anger, just in pure sorrow. "What judgement did he pass?" He delibrately didn't use his name. He needed to know. To know if they needed to run for her life or not.

"From anything?" Elyan heard the hesitancy in her voice, but she had nothing to worry about, right? "I promise." He felt a little guilty because he knew he shouldn't promise something he wasn't completely sure about. But he wanted her to feel safe, and if her sword didn't manage to protect her, he knew he certainly would. "You wont leave me alone, right?" So, she was afraid. In Elyan's opinion it was a completely ridiculous question. She never had to doubt him. He wouldn't leave her if she needed him. "Of course not, Gwen. You won't leave me alone either, right?" He was going to need her to stay by his side, so neither of them would get lost and he'd need her help when they came across all the monsters that they would surely need to battle. She'd have to be by his side.
Honestly, he needed this. He needed to have some reassurance that even though they've moved he can still have a bit of fun. Why not do that with his little sister? She wasn't completely horrible, even though she'd always tell their father whenever they broke rules. This time would be no different he was sure, but he'd gotten used to his father grounding him and giving him rants about how rules were there for a reason. Elyan's reason for rules was breaking them! That way it was much more fun. But he'd have to think about the consequences of his actions later, just like he always did.
He held his hand out for her to take. "Come on Gwen, this'll be really fun I promise." This time he was very sure of his promise. "I need you with me," he said sincerely. If they were going to be knights they had to stick together. "You're the one that's going to protect me." It was common knowledge, to Elyan at least, that knights always battled together, never alone. So, he couldn't really be a knight without her. Although he wasn't about to tell her, he knew it just wouldn't be as fun without her. Whenever she asked him to protect her or help her, it made him feel like he was needed. Honestly, that was probably the biggest reason he would stay in Camelot. But he knew he didn't really want to, not forever. He wasn't yet sure if he'd be able to give up his freedom to take care of his little sister. He decided there wasn't much point in thinking of these things. He never much liked thinking about the future anyway, not since their mother died. They had to stick together. With his hand still out for her to take, he began taking steps deeper into the forest.

"I have no qualms with that," he chuckled. A good drink was definitely something he hadn't had in a while, but was very much needed. After trying to reach deadlines and finishing fixing armour and such, a drink would be pleasantly accepted, and food too. And later, a bath was thoroughly needed. They set down to work and he paid attention as she spoke of how she lost her title. "And Kalysta would be?" He enquired. Enslaved? It sounded like she'd been through a lot, but she was still standing, which is of course something to be admired. Kalysta sounded rather ruthless though. Maybe this Kalysta was the reason Valaria fell; it sounded that way to him.
He listened to her speak about how her people were comfortable in their bodies. He had certainly noticed that about her. It was just an odd sight to see in Camelot. The women here, whether they were noble or not, tended to be thoroughly covered up; unlike Kory and her people apparently. She was right though. She seemed very open, even with her emotions. "I have definitely noticed that about you." That had sounded better in his head. "I mean you being comfortable with your emotions and such, not," he motioned his hand to the uncovered part of her abdomen. "I mean I have noticed, but in not in that way." Great! He was digging himself into a deeper hole. "I think I'll just stop." He laughed awkwardly. He never really had a way with words a lot of the time, which was why he tended to just stay quiet, instead of landing himself in more of a predicament. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut?!
"What made you decide to become a blacksmith? Have you always wanted to do it?" He was caught off guard by her question. Not many had asked him that because they were afraid it would be too painful for him to answer, with his father's death. Kory, of course, didn't know about that, but he answered diligently enough. "Actually my father was a blacksmith; it's all I've ever really known." His father was his role model, his idol. "He taught me everything he knew, but I fell in love with it anyway." It was beautiful if you thought about it, like an art form. "I think I would have always been a blacksmith. I just love the art in changing a slab of metal into a weapon, or a piece of armour," he said with awe in his eyes. "It's almost like magic," although he'd never say that out loud to anyone. "Sorry, I get a bit carried away when I talk about it." He brought himself back to Earth. "What about you, did you always want to be a hero to the people?"
