Arthur agreed, and his friend tried to be funny--she had the feeling he was always trying to be funny. Arthur moved closer to her, and Leon looked between them. "Then we will go." She promised, and looked to the knight. Leon gave a bow, and turned to give orders--the king's orders. Reaching to pull Arthur's hand toward her, she held it tight. To her brother and this friends, "We need to keep him safe, until we get there." Morgana would try anything. His friends seemed to be in agreement, for they crowded him, and they wall went together.
It was a long ride to the citadel, and took them 2 days. They didn't speak much on the ride there. Everyone, Leon and the knights and Arthur and his friends, all seemed to know that nothing would be decided until they reached the city. It was just after dawn then the flags could be seen. Shortly after when the towers came to view. And shortly after when the walls that protected it where larger and larger. Guinevère rode beside him, and watched him closely. While they had a moment away from the knights, she tried to help. "Tell them they should see the city settled before you meet with them. It will give you time to before you have to decide anything." A few hours, MAYBE, but still time.

One moment, Guinevère was kneeling, staring that the new king, and the next, Leon jumped forward, but then stepped--She hadn't even noticed that Morgana had moved to try something, but Leon had. The druids that stopped her. Guinevère rose to her feet as Arthur came over, and he spoke--he wasn't right! This wasn't what he wanted. Leon was watching Morgana, so Guinevère felt someone to come stand hear her, and looked to see his friends there. Her brother!
Turning back to him, she spoke, "Follow your heart, Arthur. It will not fail you. What do you want to do? You always have a choice. Even if it sometimes does not feel like you might." She wouldn't make this choice for him, but would stand behind him in whichever he choose. Leon moved closer and ended up stepping slightly between Guinevère and Arthur. Not with disrespect, but he was a knight addressing his king, and she was a servant--even if she was a valued one. 'We need to leave, Morgana will not be allowed to follow. She's lost her army, and we need to use this to take back the citadel, and the kingdom.' Guinevère stepped to the side, so she could still see Arthur around Leon. "He is right, in that we cannot stay here." She pointed out, needing him safely away from Morgana--be it as a king or blacksmith.

Merlin. Why had he not shared this with them? What if it could have led them to look at things differently? Knowing it was Lancelot would have spared them months of heart ache! Perhaps even more? Arthur asked about the woods and Guinevère lifted her eyes to look at him. He didn't know? Had Merlin not delivered her message?! No! Merlin would have! He'd have done it over something that important! Maybe Arthur didn't know where they met?
"During . . . during my banishment, I over heard Morgana and Helios planning. She spoke of your uncle. Merlin found me in the woods, helped me since I was injured, and said he would tell you. He asked me to come back, but . . . I couldn't face you. So he sent me to Eldor instead. To his mother." She explained, watching Arthur's face. "Merlin said he would tell you. I believed him, I still do." She didn't want to make the mistake of not believing someone without proof, but if Arthur didn't know . . . then what else had Merlin kept from them?
She didn't want to believe it. "I told him of their plan, and that they were using your uncle to get close to you and try to control you." Which made sense, his uncle had tried to break them up before. WHen it didn't work, Morgana sent Lancelot.

Guinevère forgot that Morgana was there, she forgot there was two armies. She could only watch as Arthur walked up to the sword. She watched as he wrapped his fingers around the hilt and paused. For a moment he closed his eyes, and everything was quite. She held her breath, and waited. The anticipation was madding! She wasn't even sure what to think in this moment other then the silent prayer that he would pull it! EVEN knowing that he didn't want this.
ANd then, he did! HE PULLED THE SWORD FROM THE STONE THAT HAD KEPT IT SAFE FOR LONGER THEN SHE KNEW! Before the knights of two armies, and before his FORMER queen of a sister he pulled it!! Before the druids that had kept it safe through Uther's rule, he had pulled it--ending their long guardianship of it!
Guinevère felt, more then saw Leon kneel; and then saw some of Morgana's army kneel! First it was one or two, then handfuls, and then dozens and then more and more! Guinevère knelt down with them, her eyes still wide, and surprised! Not form doubt, but from this even happening at all! Everyone but Morgana knelt as the chant started 'Long live the king!' THE KING OF CAMELOT! The one true king! The once and future king! Arthur Pendragon!
This changed everything!

He kept calling her Guinevère! . . . . and she sort of liked it, but it also freaked her out! He said it like he meant it! Like it was a promise, or had hidden meaning! He said it like he'd might have said it a million times! Guinevère-GWEN froze when he bent to clean up the vase too, and stared at him with wide eyes, shocked and speechless that the spoiled, arrogant, never-said-please-to-anyone prince, was cleaning up a mess! He was clearly under a illness or sickness! OR spell! OH! His father was going to go mad!
He asked her if SHE was alright, and Guinevère was about to reply, but he touched her! JUST TOUCHED HER! Her face looked at his hand, and it made her lips brush his skin, and she felt herself blush harder then ever before--secretly she liked strong me, but had always looked for someone more ordinary. After Elyan left, she wanted someone safe, who would stay. AND NOW she had the kingdom's strongest knight, and prince touching her face! AS IF HE REALLY WORRIED AND CARE!
THEN HE SAID PLEASE! Leaning back, Guineve--GWEN pulled from his touch, and stared at him. "Forgive me, sire, but are YOU feeling well?" She asked, not daring to touch him, but she did look at his hand as she pulled away. "Shall i fetch your father? Or Gaius or Morris?" She asked him, wanting to run get help but worried that he might be sick.

Morgana couldn't pull the sword!! Guinevère was so relived to hear it that she almost missed what came next!
"As per part of the conditions, the challenger must now make attempt to draw the sword from the stone. Arthur Pendragon."
Guinevère's head spun to where the druid elder spoke. Arthur Pendragon! Turning to look up at Arthur, her lips parted and her eyes were wide. HE HAD TO TRY!? HE WAS GOING TO TRY!! "Let's get this over with," He teased, but nothing about this moment felt like a jest! Arthur was going to try and pull the sword from the stone! He left go of her hand, and walked toward it, and Guinevère took a few steps to follow him (more from surprise) until a hand touched her arm. Leon gently but firmly pulled her back a step, not letting her go up with him.
She hadn't even known she was walking closer. Once again her heart forgot to beat, and her breath stilled. He'd left this part out last night! She'd assumed they'd try and let Morgana go, and when it failed then all would be well--but now something else was there. What if Arthur pulled it?! What if he was the one true king? What if he proved himself here--before two armies--that he was the king NOT because he was the son of Uther, but because he was the man who'd lead them to peace and greatness!??
Guinevère was afraid to blink, as she could only stare at him.

The kiss began to ease some of the torment in her. She knew it would only build again as she began thinking of that night. Of the things that were said, of the times that followed--Helios. The deer. Once she began letting herself think of these things, she would only find there was more to think of. Once, it had been her punishment, now she wasn't sure how to think on it. She wasn't sure of anything any more.
Arthur pulled from the kiss, and she sat there trying to think of what to say next--when his words made the coldness return. "Mer--" No! He was wrong! Merlin wouldn't know something like this and say nothing! "He couldn't have." Merlin was her dearest friend! He was Arthur's dearest friend! He had done everything to help them over the years, why would be be silently about something like this?!
She remembered his face as she walked brokenly out of the city, and he had stood there and watched her. "No, Merlin would not have not spoken up! He would have said something to you, or i about it! He would have . . . he would have!" She tried again! NO! Merlin was her friend! "He knew how much we've worked for this! He knew how much it was killing me! He even tried to ask me to come back that day in the woods, and I told him I couldn't. He would have said something, if he knew." Yet Arthur would not have said it, if it wasn't true!
"Why would he not?"

Guinevère held his hand tightly, and stayed with him on the walk there. She held his hand while the elders explained what was going to happen, and forbade Morgana's magic. She felt on edge, and worried that Morgana would pull the sword. That Morgana would use magic to pull the word. Her hand tightened on Arthur's as Morgana moved closer. While Guinevère was glad she'd not killed her friend, Morgana seemed to not need magic to try to kill Guinevère with a look. Especially since she was hold the hand of the man (Morgana believed) to take her place.
She forgot to breathe when Morgana walked up to the sword. Her heart forgot to beat as Morgana's pale fingers wrapped around the hilt, and pulled . . . . nothing. Morgana tugged harder, and Guinevère lifted her other hand to hold Arthur's with them both. Morgana seemed to grow anger, and used both hands to hold the sword; she glared at Arthur before looking down at the sword and tugging again! For a moment, Guinevère thought it moved! She almost panicked! Then she noticed it was nothing more then Morgana's hand falling from the sword in defeat! SHE COULDN'T DO IT! SHE! COULD! NOT! PULL! IT!
Guinevère let out a deep breath, and found her body relaxing, as it had been tense! IT WAS PROOF! They'd done it! Her eyes turned to look up at Arthur! He was right!

Guinevère was able to look at him, until he spoke of doubting her. Blinking she looked down and away; not because he had doubted her but because it was a reminder of how Morgana had made Guinevère doubt and hate herself for years. He'd spoke of how Morgana had done so much to her, but Guinevère knew why. She was the easiest target when you wanted to hurt Arthur. They'd gone after her brother, knowing it would get to Guinevère, they'd gone after her many times over the years because Arthur loved none above her. . . . . and she was an easy pray.
"Morgana knew the only thing that we'd let hurt us, was us." Guinevère said softly, not looking up at him. She'd gone well this time it seemed. "It is not the first love spell that we've seen. I didn't know you were under one either, when Lady Vivian was here. You could not have known then, either." She hoped he believed her, for she didn't have the mind to convince him just yet. Perhaps once this settled in her she could.
She's spent so many years avoiding saying 'his name', but she owed him this much. "Everyone thinks he died a traitor." It wasn't right. Lancelot had been a man of honor. Everyone thought she had betrayed her king, and the man she loved. She didn't care about that. She only cared that Arthur knew the truth. Turning to looked at him, and finally was calming enough to take in the sight of him. He was crying! It made the tears that had dried on her cheeks begin to fall once more, though this time they were silent. Lifting her hand she wiped them from his cheek.
Yesterday he'd forgiven her. In this moment, that forgiveness still meant the world for her. He had thought she'd done the unspeakable, and still he loved her more then her mistakes--and now, knowing she'd been under a spell, she loved him for it. Leaning forward she kissed him! Because he loved her, and she needed that right now.

It wa the best night she'd had in forever. Just being held by him gave her so much comfort. Arthur was a good man, and yes, she still thought he would be a good king; but she believed that was his choice. Being king would risk his life, and she wasn't going to ask that of him. She liked him safer anyway. AND since he wasn't a king, she could be with him. Whereever that might lead them.
His touch awoke her, and she smiled up at him, finding it almost hard to believe that this feeling was real. She was falling for him, and while that should have frightened her (she still had known him such a small time) it excited and invigorated her! It's time. Time for him to meet his sister, and see if she could pull the sword from the stone. "So it is," she admitted, deciding that first she need to make sure he knew something. Moving to kiss him softly, she broke the kiss and looked into the blue of his eyes, while the sun shined lightly down to glimmer in the blond locks; making them look like small rays of the sunlight after a storm. "No matter what happens today, I will leave with you when you go," she promised.

She wasn't sure how long she sat there for. Moments, hours, or days. Night could have fallen, and the sun came again for all Guinevère was able to tell; or perhaps it was only a short time before her tears slowed and she began to calm. She wanted to forget it, and pretend and forget all about it. She didn't want to deal with any of it. Yet, she still had so many questions. So much that now needed to be said. Things she didn't yet think of.
Yet there was something above all else. The first thing she needed to say, because it was the one that had slowly ate at her for years. When she thought of that night, and why she'd done it; Guinevère had never been able to explain it. She had never been able to explain why she'd gone, and why's she'd done it. The regret had always felt stronger then the memory of the feelings she had for Lancelot--because they hadn't been her's. "I took it off," she whispered, not lifting her head. Her voice sounded distant from herself, as if she was thinking a loud more then talking to him. "In the cell, I threw it at the wall. It broke the spell." Which brought her to the most important part. Slowly lifting up se stared into his face, "I didn't betray you," she said, finally--FINALLY feeling as if she could understand that night.
She loved Arthur. She hadn't betrayed him. She'd still hurt him, but not willingly. "He came to my home during the joust. Told me he got it for me. I didn't want to hurt him, knowing he loved me . . . so I wore it. The longer I did . . . the less I understood my feelings."

She was greatful for his support. It had been a long time since someone had put her first, and even though he had a lot happening tomorrow, and he was dealing with his errant family--he was still taking the time to make sure she was alright. There was something warming growing in side her at this words, and she smiled softly up at him. "No, tonight . . . " How did she explain that she just wanted to 'be' with him? Just hold each other, and not think about the future or past. Just to be together and talk or perhaps even make plans for their future!
She wanted to look forward to something, not dwell on it. "Tonight I wish nothing more then to rest with you, and for tomorrow to come so it may be behind us soon enough." Once it was, they could look at new horizons, and disappear to be anywhere. They could be farmers or . . . whatever they wished soon enough. "I found some blankets, and things to keep us warm." She told him, gesturing to where she had been waiting before his friends came up with him.

She brought him back. It took Guinevère a few seconds of repeating that phrase in her head before it began to be clean. Morgana brought him back . . . from the dead. Guinevère still wasn't looking at Arthur, but his words were sinking deeper into the coldness of her body. Morgana had done it to destroy them. The words didn't even hurt to hear right now, because she wasn't sure she could feel anything.
Morgana hated them enough to attack them by bringing someone back from the dead and enchanting a bracelet to make her--Oh! The cold moved down her body as the realization hit her harder then Arthur had when he saved her from the dragon. The room spun, and she felt dizzy. She. Hadn't. Betrayed him. It was a spell! She'd not broken a promise! She'd not lost her head in the moment! She'd not betrayed her heart or her king!
This was good news! . . . and yet she still felt cold, and frozen in place. It was as if her body new what her mind didn't. There was something darker here. Something, nor good.
Arthur must have moved closer, for one moment he was back away and the next he moved down toward the floor; the sudden movement making her jump from surprise of finding him closer--and the jerk breaking her out of the stunned, frozen shock she'd be in! A SPELL! Morgana had taken her body, and forced it to kiss another! Someone who'd been dead! She'd forced her to break Arthur's heart so he'd cast her out! It's worked! She'd kissed and touched, and . . . and put herself between Arthur and the formally-dead-Lancelot. She'd been banished! Sent from the only home she'd ever known! Helios! Arthur's words that night too her! She'd been a deer! She'd been shot!
Her hands shook, and she began crying! Arthur was on the floor and she didn't know why; having missed everything he'd said after. He was sorry? For what Morgana had done? There was so much happening here she was overwhelmed, and frightened (even though it had been over years ago), and she felt so alone, and . . . . cold! She felt so cold. Tears shaking her body, she slowly lowered to sit before him, folded herself in half, and rested her head in his lap as she began to cry. She didn't' know what else to do. There was too much to think, and she didn't want to think about any of it.

After seating her, Arthur took a seat as well. Guinevère watched him as she spoke of her home, which thankfully was only a mess he said. He spoke of the castle, which could be repaired. These were easy things to fix, and she knew that she would help in every way she could--but these were not the words she thought of. Not the words that changed everything. They were not the important words that he spoke.
Acting as king.
Yes! While she knew this was hard for him, these were the words that made her want to smile. She regretted that Uther was unwell, but Arthur as king . . . yes! This is what she wanted! This is was the clearly the best way to get him as king, and without him loosing his father! She felt guilty that this excited her, but it did! Yet she didn't smile at him, as the more pressing question was still there. "Are you alright with this?" She asked, reaching for his hand, and forgetting the food. "I've made no secret that I long for you as king. Yet I feared that it would come, as I never wanted you to pay the price." He'd have to loose a father, to be king. "Yet, it seems that something has come out of this." He would be king, in a way!
"You can help the kingdom heal! You can give them the same hope that you have us back at the fallen castle! Camelot has seen Uther rule, and seen Morgana's rule--Now it gets to see you." Moving from her seat she leaned forward to kiss his hand. "I am glad you're father is alive." That he did not have to loose him to get this chance.

Once, Guinevère had sat by Morgana's bed all night for fear she have another horrid nightmare, and when she woke up her toes had felt different. They's tingled and inched, and lacked feeling; yet at the same time every feeling was a pin prick inside her skin. It was as close to she could come to describing how her whole body felt. She felt cold, and her skin felt as if something had crawled on it. Goosebumps covered her skin, and she wished she had sat.
Lifting her hand from her belly, Guinevère rubbed her face trying to feel something. "H--" She was about to defend Lancelot to Arthur, and that was something she had not done since that night. "He wouldn't side with her." She said, shaking her head. It was then she realized she wasn't even looking at him any more. She couldn't. She couldn't meet his eyes right now. She was cold and she couldnt . . . she needed to . . .
Bringing her hand down from her face, she caught sight of the ring. Her ring. She was his wife. "What are you telling me, Arthur?" She asked, her voice louder then she meant it to be, but Guinevère felt as if she was on the edge of a cliff, and she wanted nothing more then for him to pull her back! To make this better! Yet, she wasn't sure she wanted anyone touching her.
Because if this meant she had been enchanted, then the weight of it was about to make her buckle under it.

He stopped her touch, and fear crawled into her. It made her feel heavy, as if stones were in her belly. Something had changed. The fear from yesterday returning. She had thought they were alright, but why else would he reject her touch? "Arthur?" she asked quietly. He turned from her! Her hand reached for him, but she couldn't touch him. She placed them against her belly, trying to silly it's churning, her hand resting over the ring that she wore as his wife! Touching it and trying to remind herself of what it meant. What had happened?
He had asked her to sit, but she couldn't. She couldn't make herself sit. He turned to face her and the words . . . . the words . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
What did they mean? She heard them. She knew what he spoke of, and she normally only referred to it as IT. Someone had found her bracelet and enchanted it? Why were they in the cells to begin with? "I . . . I don't understand." she began, trying to understand what the words meant. It was if he had spoken in a language her mind couldn't follow. It tried, but there was so much meaning she didn't know how to understand right now. "They found it in the cells, and enchanted it?"
Though, there was a spark in her, something that told her that wasn't what he meant. Something that told her this wasn't why he was reacting this way. Yet she was too afraid to think the words. Too afraid to let herself even think the words that he said could mean what she dared not think. No. This was over. There was not reason for them to speak of it. "Just burn it, Arthur. Let us be rid of it forever!"

Her home was damaged?! Guinevère thought of her father for a moment, and wished she could go see. It had been her home with her father, and one of the few memories she had of him. Plus, there was so many fond memories there of other people. Elyan . . . Arthur. She didn't want to leave the room though, so she would eat before going to look at her home, and making a plan to fix it.
"Pity," she teased, but blushed while she said it. "That would be tempting." She was teasing him, with his offer to stay HERE. Though she knew she would return to her home as soon as she could. "And thank you. It will only be until I can repair whatever is done to it. I have . . . fond memories there." She smiled at him, hoping he was thinking of their first kiss too.
"And the citadel? Is there much damage here too?" She asked, having not looked around too much on their way up here. She didn't know what Mogana had done after she left. Morgana's magic could have done anything here. Her men that were loyal to her could have burned the place . . . but it didn't appear to be so.

Gaius knew? Merlin knew?! Merlin had been the one to confirm that it was a lie last time. When had Merlin learned it wasn't a lie? Guinevère only had more questions after Arthur explained, but she knew this wasn't the time to push him for answers. He could barely speak of it right now. And she wondered if he had sought out his father for a confrontation?
Pushing to a stand, she moved before him, and wrapped her arms around him. He was hurting, and even if she didn't understand, she knew enough to know what he needed the most from this moment. He needed comfort. She kissed his face, and moved to pull him tighter into a hug. Then, a thought came to her. "If she had not lied . . . then did you really meet your mother that day?" It wasn't what was upsetting him, but she wondered if he had thought of it.
Once he was able, she would ask him to share the events of today. She would question how Merlin came to know.

Guinevère had an oddly productive day. Happiness sat well on her. She loved being happy, and by nature was often happy. At the lunch hour, she had attempted to find her husband, but he was in a meeting with Gaius. She was told it was important. Wanting to know, she almost sought him out but instead decided to visit the market. Arthur would tell her later. At the market she found his favorite sweet, and bought him some. After yesterday, he needed a little extra something.
Upon her return, no one knew where to find him. No one. Not even Merlin! Guinevère began looking, and ended up sending some of the knights to begin looking! She grew worried--until one of them told her he had been seen! FINALLY! He had gone to his chambers and said he wasn't to be disturbed! Guinevère lifted her skirt slightly in her effort to hurry down the halls to their chamber.
Guinevère entered the chamber to find him there. "Arthur!" She sighed with relief and confusion. "I've been looking for you everywhere!" She hurried toward him, teaching out to remove some dust from his hair. "What's happened?" Her voice was soft, as she could see he was upset. Had someone died?! One of this brothers? A knight or . . . . Morgana. Had she done something to hurt him again?

Guinevère had her hands smoothing over her gown when she heard a knock at the door. Her heart jumped slightly from old habits until she turns to see him. Smiling brightly, she walked over toward him. He said it fits, and she had to laugh. Yes. It did. "Very well," she admitted, turning slightly in a circle so he could see it all. "It's beautiful! Thank you!" She loved it! While her pink dress HAD been her favorite, this one was not her favorite! It was wonderful! "It's my favorite!" Because HE had picked it out for her!
Now that she no longer smelled of horse, she wanted to kiss him again--and nothing was stopping her. Stepping closer, her hand went to his chest. "You're not wearing chain mail," she noticed, liking that she could feel him! She had yet to put on shoes, so she stretched up to her toes to kiss him. This kiss, unlike the ones outside, lingered and deepened. It was the kiss of two people in love, who had missed each other dearly. Falling back on her heels, she smiled up at him. "Let's eat," She invited him . . . . to his own table so that they could sit and speak of everything.
