Arthur pulled her into his embrace and she was surprised at how that seemed to ease the pain and lighten the sadness. All he needed to do was hold her and it was both easing the sadness and making her wish harder for a child His words brought her hope. He wanted a child too! That he would help her gain her desire! She longed for it! She wanted to had been able to tell him in just a few weeks that he would be a father! Yet now she knew that it would be longer!
She wrapped her arms around him and let him hold her silently for a while before she sniffled slightly from her light tears. "I do not mean to cry on so, but I . . . I seem to never be able to control them when I am like this." She was often emotional when this time came. Yet never before had she cried over the lack of a child. "I had so looked forward to just spending the day with you."And now she could not! Men did not wish to spend time with a woman who had her 'womanly time'. At home she never left her chambers when this happened, for that was just how it was done.

Guinevère had heard the knock but not looked it. Rosa didn't knock--at least not when she knew she was expected as there was no reason too. The bed dipped more then it would for Rosa's weight and when she opened her eyes, it was not Rosa's face that greeted her but her husband's eyes. Blinking back the tears that the sightly of summoned she took a slow breath to calm her emotions so she could explain. "I have to break my promise too you," To make it up to him later, for clearly this meant they could not be together.
She moved to sit up a little and her feet curled under her. Her hand lifted to wipe her cheeks clean, and she tried to smile at him but it failed. Looking at his face now she wondered what their son would have looked at had she gotten with child now. "I wanted him to look like you," She said tears in her tone and knowing she was an emotional mess right now. She had wanted their son to have her color but his jawline and height and eyes. She'd wanted him to walk tall be be strong like this father. "I had gotten my hopes up but . . . . " It wasn't meant to be.

Rosa heard the tone of worry and approved. Her gaze lifted a little bit and she smiled awkwardly. "Nothing for men to worry over sire, this happens in a woman's life." It was the best she could do. Her gaze was apologetic. "My I speak openly, sire?" She had not ever really spoken to the king even after being so close to his wife. Casual comments yes, but never spoken to him about something such as this. "I have not seen her as happy as has been here with you before. It is good to see her so happy. I believe the knowledge that her family is not yet complete has been upsetting to her." That her lack of child growing with her had broken her heart.
Guinevère was up in her chambers, wearing the stolen shirt of her husband's while holding her pillow long ways, and curled on her side. Buried under her blankets, she could not help but to cry. Her hair had been brushed and twisted back into a braid. She had so looked forward to a day with her husband, and now she felt so saddened from the loss of the ideas of a child so soon, and the day with her husband and of giving him his gift that she could not even eat her lunch. She only had vision in her mind of the daughter she wanted, or the son he could name heir. How they might look or what it would be like.

Guinevère kissed him back as he moved to leave and called out to him, "Until later, Husband!" When he was gone she smiled brightly and touched her cheeks! OH! This morning was wonderful! She feel back on the bed and could only smile so brightly up at nothing that she felt the morning perfect! Laughing softly she stretched feeling content and happy and wonderful! Yet it seemed, fate did not plan to let her enjoy her day. For as she stretched she felt her calve cramp from the action. Pulling it toward her she held it for a moment, and everything came back to her.
She had forgotten about everything since Arthur had wed her. Including about her how body worked. Before she got her 'time' she always got cramps in her calves and feet! "No!" She whispered, hoping it was nothing! Praying it was nothing! She'd been with her husband almost every single night . . . . even some mornings and one afternoon! She should be breeding with his child not this! She wanted his child! So badly! Please be nothing, she begged herself. Though the timing was right, she knew it was. A month into her marriage almost.
It was nothing she told herself! It was over use! A hot bath! Yes! She needed a hot bath! It would ease things and she would see! It was nothing. . . . yet a few hours later it was no nothing. And a few hours after that, Guinevère crawled heartbroken into her bed and asked Rosa to deliver a message for her. Rosa went to wait by the doors to the council chambers until the king could spare her a moment to deliver a message. When the king stepped out to receive the message, Rosa's eyes were downcast as this was never an easy message to deliver. 'My lord, I was requested to inform you that the queen will not be able to receive you for a few days. She said to tell you that she will have the gift delivered to you, and she will inform you when she is well again.'

"Oh, Arthur," She said softly so no one would hear her here. "This morning is just not working out for you is it?" She teased, knowing that he had just been trying to undress her and that he had been well on his way of returning them both to bed. Yet here they were with a reminder of why he had to leave. "I will make it up to you this afternoon." She offered, handing over his shirt. "Perhaps I can order you a bath drawn, this afternoon? Help you clean up . . . . I have the feeling that we might both need one later." She teased.
She kissed his bared chest lightly before hurrying over to the bed and sitting there, to watch him. After he was dressed she asked one last thing of him, "Will you tell Rosa were I am?" So Rosa would bring her something to wear and not make Guinevère attempt to switch clothes before going to her chambers. Though the idea of dressing in his room left her with a silent thrill! Another scandals thing to start off her morning with!

Guinevère smiled brightly as he told her she was making it hard for him to get out of his own bed! When he gave her the shirt, she quickly pulled it over her head and then climbed from the bed. It almost reached her knees! Her bare calves could be seen! It made her feel scandals! How shocking! Though the most shocking part was not her half bared legs but how wide the top was! If she left both shoulders on, her breast were almost completely visible! If she pulled it up then her shoulders were almost bare and she feared had the top been any wider then shirt would fall from her!
Hurrying over to her husband, just as his trousers came up over his hips she stepped before him to help him lace them up. Perhaps in hindsight not the most helpful thing to do, for it left her hands so very close to him, even brushing his shaft some as she tightened the laces. Blushing she looked up at him, and took a step backwards. "I think I like you in blue." She told him walking toward one cupboards and opening it but only finding more trousers in there. Shutting it she opened another but no blue shirts, only dress clothing. Finally on the third one she opened she pulled his blue shirt out, paused then reached for his red one for with the gift she gave him, Pendragon red would be more dramatic. "You can wear blue tomorrow, today you are a king and you shall wear your colors!"
She was dressing her husband! It was that moment a knock and Gaius' voice drifted in. "Sire, Lord Godfrey asked me to check on you. Said you felt in pain last night." Guinevère's hand came to her lips as she blushed as red as the shirt in her hands and laughed silently but hard!!!

Guinevère felt Arthur's hand traveling down her and she bit her lip to keep from smiling too brightly. It was the bright light of morning and the kingdom would be calling him very soon! Surely there was so little time left?! Yet it was hard to think of no time when his hands were on her! "Arthur," She half breathed and half moaned his name out, yet she knew she had to be strong. "You said we could spend the whole afternoon together. First my gift then . . . . then you would teach me something new." She was very excited for this afternoon and wanted it to come sooner!
"You should go and be the king, and bring peace tot he land so you can join me sooner!" And they'd have more time together. "While you are, I will be bathing before a fire and thinking of more questions!" She teased knowing that last time he had taken her against the wall for her questions. "Then I shall dress in something easy to remove and be waiting to take you to see your gift! I cannot wait to see what you think of it!!"

Did she sleep well? Surely he jest! "Wonderfully." She admitted, not looking from him and only gazing into the deep pools of blue that were his eyes. She loved them. How open and clear and honest they were. "Did you?" She asked, hoping he did not mind her here. Wives were not supposed to spent much time in their husband's chambers for it would leave him no where to escape from her. Yet she enjoyed it here. It felt very manly in here. It made her wish to add flowers.
Yet it also posed the trouble of her having nothing but her gown from last night, which was still on the floor and would be wrinkled! Everyone whom saw her in it would know where she spend last night and whom she'd spent it with. At least her chambers were not far. Yet their clothing was. Meaning to retrieve them someone had to get out of bed with not a stitch on!! She voted it was him. Guinevère liked her husband without a stitch on. The view was the best in Camelot!

She smiled at his words. "Then tonight I will sleep well," She explained, "For I like the comfort of hearing you near me. Of feeling you next to me while I sleep." She never felt alone here thousands of miles from her childhood home. She felt safe and warm and protected. Reaching her hand up she brushed his hair back from his damp forehead. Looking into his blue eyes she smiled softly, and just watched him before letting herself rest and relax against him. Allowing herself to drift.
It was easy to drift off with his arms holding her close. Slowly she fell into a deep sleep, resting against her husband. When the morning light broke into the window, Guinevère opened her eyes and it took her a moment to recall where she was. Lifting her head she looked at her husband and smiled. He was either asleep or resting with his eyes closed. Either way she took the moment to watch him resting. It could have been a few seconds or a an hour before she noticed him open his gaze to look at her, and her smile broke into a large, bright expression on her face. Normally this was the part where she kicked him out of her chambers so she might dress. "Husband," She greeted, wondering how they would dress now!

Guinevère had rarely left her chambers since everything had happened, she had not yet faced her brother as he had ridden out with Arthur, but she knew that would be coming soon. Guinevère had not even heard that the knights had returned, for her chambers were not gifted with the sight of the court yard but the woods.
Amaren had discovered the bed was suitable for jumping higher and because it was larger then she was use to, by the time that she reached one part of the bed, Amaren had jumped to the other. His birthday was over looked because she had been on the run that day, but she was determined to pin him down and try a little event with just the two of them. 'Papa! Papa! she heard Amaren call out and Guinevère turned to look at the door. Arthur! He was back!
She could hear Amaren stop jumping but she could not turn her face from Arthur. He was back! But what news did he carry with him? 'What that?' She heard their son say and that was when she noticed he was still in his armor--something Amaren had not seen before. She turned and lifted Amaren from the bed to the floor, "Welcome Papa back from his trip." Amaren ran forward and stopped a foot away before he lifted his hands up and went 'Rawr!' And then running back toward the bed. It had not been what she meant.

Vivian was as energetic as she always was, seemingly speaking and controlling the environment around her. When her voice would hit high notes, Amaren covered his ears, and Guinevère stood, holding him tighter to her. "Arthur Junior or Arthurita!" Guinevère wasn't sure the sound she made was meant to be a gasp or a gag, but she ended up choking and coughing slightly to attempt to be able to breathe.
"Won't you?" No. No she would not. Guinevère however gave the princess an awkward smile to try to hide the building emotions. When the visiting king entered, Guinevère bowed her head out of respect--for this man she did. While his daughter might not be the most kind of women, the king was highly spoken of and she wished no disrespect toward him.
Though he seemed to be displeased with something his daughter said. Guinevère wondered if it was speaking to a commoner or even bragging about the wedding perhaps? "When I am queeeeeeeeeeeeen!" Or doing so loudly? She stood there and counted to ten to make sure they were gone before hurrying forward and shutting the door and pulling the lock. No more visitors for a while, she thought, for her heart could not take more 'joyous' news.

Guinevère had just changed Amaren into something clean and brushed back his hair from his face, while leaning down to kiss his forward when the knock came. Yet before she could say enter, the door opened and the princess entered. "Good morning!" Guinevère sat down on the bed beside where her son stood and felt surprise at seeing Vivian here. Amaren sat down in her lap while watching the princess move about. "Gertrude, isn't it?" "Guinevère, my lady." She corrected too shocked to express more.
"But one day soon, you will know me as Queen of Camelot; Queen Vivian Pendragon!" AND now more surprised then ever! Goodness! What she still under that horrid spell?!! Her jaw fell open a little bit as Vivian continued and Guinevère tried to keep up with the active woman's speech. "My father makes all the arrangements for the wedding!" Wh-what? Her father was a very sane man and not under a spell--she hoped. If he was readying a wedding then . . . . . Arthur was to marry her?
He was to be married?! She could not think, nor speak at the shock finding out this way. "My Love, will bring your husband back!" Her husband? Oh! Her 'husband'. "I . . . . I should . . . . " She was too shocked to speak for a long moment, "I should congratulate you my lady on your up coming wedding."
Guinevère held Amaren closer to her, looking down at the top of his head. This woman could NOT be his step-mother. She wasn't sure she wanted him to have anything to do with Vivian, yet . . . . how did she speak up for 'her son' when the truth was . . . she was jealous. Arthur had really found his true princess then?

Guinevère heard him ask her were they were going, and she knew that with a few more turns he would know just where she was taking him. "I wish to show you something." She explained, as she made the turns that would revel where they went. She wondered if he would even come down here with her as after her words of baring him from leaving this could be a trap. "Only show you something." Not keep him here.
He would have to trust her not to break her word and she hoped that he would, for she would let him leave but not before she reminded him more then ever that he had reason to stay. As they walked though the entrance of the cells below the castle she paused to give orders "No one is to go down this hall for any reason until we both have returned. Not a single one." Guinevère lead the way down toward the back, were a larger stone room was, and the floor was filled wit hay. Walking into the room slowly she looked around knowing the room had horrid memories.
So much had happened while Arthur was 'away'. She bent down and lifted one of the shackles while staring at it with haunted eyes. "So much happened when you were gone. So much has changed." She whispered not looking at him. Pushing to a stand she placed her wrist inside the cuff but did not close it. "I do not think I would ever be able to tell you everything, for there is simple just so much that has happened."
When Arthur was close enough she reached for his hand and placed it in the cuff, locking. "You will leave me tonight, and I will fear every moment you are gone. Nothing you say will keep that fear from holding my heart tightly." Nothing. "But this morning I will show you something. I will remind you why you need to hurry home." She moved to the other side of him, and bent for the other cuff that would chain him from being able to touch her. "And when we leave this room, with more memories that you will not forget . . . . only then will I let you leave me." She told him as she reached for his wrist and sealed the other cuff.

Guinevère watched Arthur leave and reached over to put her hand down on their son while staring at the door. A short time later and old friend of Guinevère's enter with the bag she needed and some pillows. Rosa! They embraced and Rosa stayed to help Guinevère settle in, and use the pillows to help pin Amaren in a place so he could not roll off until a make shift crib could be found for him.
As it was late, Rosa left to seek out her own bed, and Guinevère curled on the safest bed she had been on in years, while holding her son to her. Her mind however was on his father. As the night turned to day, she awoke to Amaren jumping on the bed, and realized he did not even know what was happening at home. Perhaps that was for the best. He saw this as an adventure. Guinevère decided to let him enjoy it.

Guinevère felt her husband's arms hold her, and him kiss the side of her head. He was trying to ease the moment she she wondered how that could even happen in these moments. She wanted him closer and wanted to prove to them both that she was stronger then good byes and that he was here to stay so there was no need to be stronger then good byes. She wanted more then ever to give him a reason to return.
Thinking of the last 'reason' she had given him, she turned her head to look toward where the children rested and thought about how long before they awoken. "I need you to come with me for a moment." She said softly, knowing there was something she had to do before she let him ride out and risk his life for his kingdom and for her and their children.
She turned and walked toward the door, making sure he would follow her, and if needed had his cloak to hide whom he was, before ordering the men to stand guard inside the room so they could see her children with their own eyes. Then she led Arthur toward where she wanted to take him too. They took the steps lower and out of the main areas of the castle, and away from the royal chambers.

Guinevère stared up at him, even while he kissed her and as he spoke of needing to do this. She knew she could not force him to stay--no matter her threats. She turned and walked around the table, toward the fire and stood there staring into the flames, needing to think and try to draw up that strength that seemed to have broken the moment she realized Arthur was her husband and not some magical imposter.
She had to be strong, and be strong alone. "Go then," She whispered almost brokenly but without bitterness toward him. She knew that when he left she would live in fear until his return--if he returned. She would trust no promise for she was all too aware that it could be broken if the wrong persons knew of his return and plans. How many times of the years had his routes been attacked? Too many! And now he sought to go alone?! "You should take another with you." To better keep him safe. Surely there was one in which he would trust and ask to escort him?

Guinevère nodded as he said he should go and her hand came up to rest on her uneasy belly, knowing that whatever he found there was her fault for not giving the warning. "Will . . . . will you or someone come to me when you return and . . . . tell me of what you find?" She needed to know what had happened and needed to know it as soon as they returned, or as soon as she could.
She moved to sit on the edge of the bed and look up at Arthur knowing he should leave. She just stared at hi for the longest of moments before she whispered, "Be careful," Hoping that nothing ill fell upon him while there--him or the other knights. She wasn't even sure whom was attacking for she had been unable to give Arthur the seal. She had seen him give it to a servant but they had not returned with it yet.

"This is different," "I fail to see how!" She told him as he explained what he needed to do and why it needed to be done. "You ride off alone and unprotected when last time you rode off with hundreds of highly trained men." They had not brought him back, and not he sought to go alone!? She feared this would be another moment where she lost him! The fear held her tighter then her clear thinking.
"No," She shook her head, "Do not go!" Keeping her voice was to not wake the children was hard in these moments, "I will not allow you too!" She whispered a bit desperately, seeking to hold him here longer with all of the power he had granted her with when he wed her then left her here alone! "Everyone thinks you are an imposter." She reminded him, and moved to use her hands to cup his cheeks. "I will make them keep you here, if it means you stay alive and safe!"
Tears fell down her cheeks as she told him that she would not allow him to leave for she was SO afraid . . . so very, very afraid that he would die again. "I cannot lose you again. Do not ask this of me . . . You've only been in my arms for a day. I cannot let you go."

Arthur assured her that she did the right thing, but her heart still knew better then he that she could have warned everyone hours before the attack had she not dismissed the seal as more then nothing. She had not thought there would be a full scale attack but had she warned them then a look out could have been placed and a warning cry could have been sounded. SOMETHING could have been done!
He moved to kiss their son, and she watched as Amaren lifted his arm for a moment, as if to stir but it only feel back near his head. "He spoke of you," She whispered, "When he awoken he looked for you before asking if you were there." Her voice held so much emotion as they looked at each for a moment. She knew he had to go, and she had to find a safe place for their son to sleep--as there was no crib here, and he could roll from the bed to the stone floor.
She wasn't sure why she keep speaking, but she could not stop the words from her lips, "The whole way here, I knew that if I could just make it to the city . . . to you . . . that he would be safe." Because Arthur would let nothing happen to his son, and Amaren was the most important person in both their lives.

Arthur walked forward she tried to brace herself for speaking with him or seeing him or---Arthur took her into his arms and she felt both safer and more torn. Her hands came up to rest over his arms as she held him for a moment, absorbing in the feeling of being safe while she could. When Arthur moved and looked into her face, she did the same, nodding while he asked her if she was unharmed.
"Amaren's rock," She said with a whisper, knowing it was int he bag he took from her. "I did not look at it like I would have . . . " Had Arthur not been there. She had ignored it, because Arthur was there. "It wasn't a rock. I've seen enough armor to know a bit of one when I see it." She was explaining things so he would know his son . . . and her, were unharmed. "I readied a bag but nothing happened for hours. When the men arrived they were on the other end of the village and . . . I just grabbed him and ran."
She wished she could have helped her friends, SHOULD HAVE WARNED THEM and not just assumed it was nothing! She'd failed them. "I didn't warn anyone." Just took her son and ran. Turning a little she looked down at their sleeping son and knew that her silence might have saved his life, but the price had been high. So very high.
