I didn't realise this was here! I'm so behind!
Hi everyone!
My name is Janna and I'm twenty-one in November (I feel so old!) but half the time, I don't act it or look it. I've been rpging forever and I love to write.
I absolutely adore anything that involves sword play, horse riding and general medievalness. Magic, pirates, fantasy, Robin Hood etc - I love it all! I adore Merlin and Morgause is probably my favourite character (I might take her up in a while). I also love Doctor Who to bits and think River Song is amazing, so might drag my version of her here too. I tend to use the same characters over and over to expand on them in different situations and era, so Taillefer has been about a bit.
I also love photography and I'm currently setting up my own business. I previously ran a rescue organisation for rats and have tons of my own, I also breed and show mice and rats. I've returned to college to study media for four years, before I move on to Uni. I'm from England (if you've not yet guessed) but I love to travel.
I have tons of pet rats and mice, as well as three gerbils and a family dog, who is a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a border terrier - so he's an absolute loon! I'd love to have a horse in the future, so I can ride through a forest and genuinely feel like Robin Hood, cos I'm that sad.
Favorite animal(s): Rats, dogs, horses. Favorite color: Red/Green. Favorite book: All the Harry Potters. Favorite movie: I have loads... Pirates of the Caribbean, Cutthroat Island, Shanghi Noon, Hook etc. All westerns, fantasys and piratey films. Favorite TV Show(s): Merlin, Doctor Who, Family Guy, American Dad, Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother, Robin Hood, Rules of Engagement - All comedy and fantasy stuff again. Favorite song: Currently, Madonna Vs Nancy Sinatra, Kill Bill & more - The Gang Bang Theory (Robin Skouteris & Pat Scott Mix). Favorite food: Pasta & Mozzarella cheese.

As she free herself from the mare's rope, carefully unwinding it from around her own waist, the other woman responded. A glowing grin was splashed across her face, and while Taillefer could not match it she did offer her own gentle, warm smile. "It's no problem." It really wasn't. It would aid her in a little extra pay actually, since she was bringing new business to the place. A few extra coins in her pocket, that would certainly do her nicely.
"I'm Taillefer." She replied politely, before starting to lead the horse forwards once again. "Nice to meet you." The stranger commented on the beast at her side and Taillefer offered the mare a glance. Many of the horses that came to rest in the inn were beautiful creatures, most of them light weight beasts who could run like the wind when they wished to, but they were all nothing compared to the hefty mare she owned, that lay in wait for her at home. Even this mare wasn't a scratch on her.
"Thank you, but she's not mine." She explained, as they rounded the corner that lead to the Rising Sun. "She's a guest of the inn's horse. I work in the stables, you see." The mare seemed to understand she was being spoken about and stuck her head proudly into the air, tossing her mane with glee. Taillefer chuckled softly at her equine antics. "The rooms don't cost much, a few coins. Mention my name, and it might be less. And work, there might be something at the inn. We always need servers..." The inn went through so many, she was losing track. The drunks always got handsy and it scared so many women off, that's why she also took on the guise of a boy on those few nights she had to work extra. "And don't worry, I understand. I was new here once about a time. It's hard sometimes, but you'll get used to it."

Another day, another duty to attend to. The only problem was that the day was dragging on so slowly, that Taillefer was slowly clambering further and further into her own mind to entertain herself. While daydreaming was favoured hobby of hers, it often stopped her from getting anything done, as she became tangled in her own fantasies. Knights on white horses, damsels in distress, bloody fights where sword clashed with sword and lands were won...Well, her mind wasn't all love and romance.
Engulfed in her own deluded dreams, she barely noticed that her walking companion - one of the visitors to the inn stables, a white cob mare - had paused to investigate a particularly interesting rock on the ground before her. One step and the young woman bumped straight into the horse's rear end, causing her to squeak slightly in shock, as she fell onto her own backside in the road. The Cob gave a delighted whicker, seemingly giggling at her handler's misfortune. "Thanks girl, very nice." Taillefer grumbled quietly, brushing herself down as she got back to her feet. It was impossible to stay angry at for long, and while she put on her grumpiest face, a smile broke through quite quickly as she patted the dusty mare's coat.
"Home time, I think." She still had plenty of chores to attend to at the Rising Sun, including a night shift she wasn't exactly looking forward to. As she began to move on, a voice stopped the woman in her tracks. "Excuse me but please could you direct me to the nearest Inn?" Taillefer spun about, almost tangling herself in the mare's lead rope. "Nearest inn? Um..." The nearest inn was just around the corner, but her boss would have killed her if she sent new customers elsewhere. Besides, the Sun wasn't that far away. "I'm just on my way to one, I'll show you if you like?"

Three hours had passed since the sun had set beyond the horizon; three hours of long, arduous toil in drizzle that soaked her own skin and the beasts that stepped beside her along the dirt roads of Camelot. Despite her blatant dislike for exercising horses in rain, her generous boss had called upon her some time ago, sprouting some rubbish about a few extra coins in exchange for giving the two mares a nice long walk through the town. Most likely, their owners sat drinking at the bar, eager to leave or not spend another penny. But her boss, no, he would never let that happen. Take them out, he says, most likely to keep the men drinking for lack of their steeds.
It didn't much matter that she was soaked through to the skin, drenched from head to foot in mud and rain. The horses were in a similar state, meaning another job for her. More hooves and legs to wash, more blankets to clean as they became drenched with mud and sweat. She had tried her best to stick to the cobble stones, but a horse's hooves can only take so much of the harsh rock as they slip and slide on hazardous roads.
The stables themselves were quiet, as young Taillefer led the two bay mares to their stalls, but noise broke through thin walls and the shouts of drunken fools in the tavern resonated in her ears. They weren't quiet, men. But horses were. They understood how soothing the near silence could be, as they whickered and whinnied in their playful ways to one and other. The young woman could not help but smile at them, as she peeled her sodden hide jacket from her back, to reveal a dryer white shirt and cotton bodied waistcoat beneath. Dark and rainy or not, she still had work to do.
Most had been finished earlier in the day, such as the feeding and grooming of the other temporary stable residents, but her two walking companions needed a good clean before they closed their eyes. No doubt their owners would remain another night, too drunk to stand and too sober to venture out into the possibly dangerous weather. So, she got to work. Armed with a bucket, stool and a soft blanket, she slowly began to wash the forelegs of the first mare, offering soft reassurance as the thunder began to crack in the world beyond their thatched roof shelter.
It seemed it was going to be a long night. Whenever the weather turned, travellers diverted from their paths to seek shelter wherever possible. And the tavern was usually a good place to find refuge for those lost in the rain.

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name of Character:. Taillefer Isidore Fyodorova. .:Nick Name:. Tai. .:Age:. 20 (born 13/11). .:Race:. Camelot. .:Status:. Citizen.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ | .:Physical Appearance:. Taillefer Fyodorova would appear to be nothing special, to anyone whom she meets. Small in stature and lacking in muscle, she does not appear threatening or even a danger. Despite her age (which most would think would bring a little height) the young adult is rather small. She stands at a meagre five foot and two inches, nothing so scary about her at all. Most of the people she meets actually tower over her, and many mistake her for a child of a far younger age, something displeases her greatly.
This height is actually a family trait that curses the children of her mother’s bloodline. Though, her father’s side didn’t give her much hope when it came to height either. Still, big things come in small packages. Another thing that hails from her mother side, it her eye colour; a light, apple green colouring, which merges with deeper shades to give her eyes a truly beautiful colouring.
She’s not really much to look at in terms of body; hardly curved, yet slightly toned; barely defined. While most women would be outraged by seeming so unfeminine, Taillefer and her family have always used it in her favour. Since youth, this androgynous appearance has saved her life many times and alongside her wardrobe and attitude, she has been commonly mistaken for a young boy in the family. This look still aids in keeping her alive today, occasionally.
Taillefer’s hair is short, only just reaching her shoulders, and is blonde in colour. It is naturally straight, and her parting allows for a small section of hair to hang over her face on the right hand side. She had the slightest hint of hazel mixed in with natural highlights and near her roots. Her skin is lightly tanned, due to the extensive amount of time that she spends out in the sunshine. This tanning often hides the light freckling on her arms from a distance, but does not close up. Her lips are thin, but not so pale. She has a habit of licking them far too much, so the skin on her lips is often broken and never so smooth.
When it comes to scars and various other markings, young Tai has the usual one would expect for a girl her age. Marks from little scraps and scrapes she got into as a child. The most noticeable (should she ever be caught getting undressed, at least) is a long, thin scar that crosses her left side, just under her waist. Caused by her brother when she was young, it has never disappeared. It was accidentally caused when Taillefer and her elder brother were fighting with their father’s swords. It was not a deep cut, but it still managed to scar. She has various other smaller ones littered around her body, from various accidents.
Clothes wise, Taillefer’s dress would be considered more masculine. She does not wear the typical long and pretty dresses or the skirts, but sticks to corset type tops, trousers, tall boots waistcoats and shirts. For most of her childhood, her mother dressed her in trousers like her brother, not only because she always seemed to be grazing her knees in skirts, but also to save her from death on several occasions. Of course, Tai had grown used to trousers and feels uncomfortable in anything that shows off too much of her body.
Commonly, she wears: trousers coloured a medium brown, to try and hide all the dirt she tends to get on them from riding; a shirt with long sleeves (commonly in white, but sometimes blood or wine red, midnight blue or cream) and a laced V-neck; boots that reach to just below her knee, that are distressed and buckled down the outer side, to keep the dirt from invading them; and a second layer, which is a sleeveless blue corset type waistcoat, laced down the front, that sports a short collar to protect her neck from the wind in riding.
Occasionally, she will drift from this in hotter or colder weather, switching to an animal hide and cotton coat in the colder months, with long sleeves and a buckled front, or a sleeveless waistcoat version of the same coat. Due to her clothing choices and somewhat androgynous appearance, she is sometimes mistaken for a teenage boy, something which Taillefer doesn't mind, as it has saved her several times from the drunken men who thought they were the best flirts in town. It also means she gets less hassle from men. Sometimes, she introduces herself as male with strangers, to avoid trouble.
A thick belt clings to her hips, covered with pouches which can be easily removed and re-added. Many of them hold little treats for the horses, but it also allows for a dagger scabbard to be attached when necessary, alongside that of a sword if needed. She only wears a single piece of jewellery; a leather thong necklace with a small tooth attached to it. This necklace was made by her mother and presented to her as a gift, commemorating her first kill at the age of six. It belongs to a red fox. To complete her usual get up are two brown, distressed leather vambraces on her wrists, both of which reach to her elbows and are often visible above her sleeves. They are both patterned and buckled, one of which has room for a small knife in a pouch on the inside.
.:Height:. 5ft 2”. .:Portrayed by:. Allison Mack.
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ | .:Personality:. In youth, Taillefer was a child quite innocent of mind. Although she has grown, sometimes this innocence can still be seen within her. For example, she still has an excellent imagination, being able to think outside the box, much like she did in her childhood. She also has a habit of talking to animals, even herself, when wandering through the forest. She enjoys doing this, but is quite embarrassed when someone finds her doing it, which shows that she has at least grown a little. She is a kind girl, gentle too, even to those who often do her wrong or speak rudely to her. She truly hates to see anyone of anything younger than herself, or someone/thing being held against their will being treated wrongly and will often act without thinking to defend them, then realise she’s not strong enough to hold off the attacker.
She can be rude; she can be snobby, though it really depends on who she’s with and what impression they made when first meeting her. She is usually happy and kind to most, even when she has no idea what to say to them. Her social skills are a little lacking, due to her mother’s careful attitude when she was a child. Her mother was often careful when allowing her out of their dwellings, due to the fear that she would be snatched away from the family or mistaken for a druid by Uther and his guards, as she commonly talked to herself or animals aloud, rather than in her head. Hence why she’s never been too good at talking to others, preferring her own company most of the time, or an animal’s.
This doesn’t mean, however, that she doesn’t like company. In fact, quite contradicting herself, she often craves it. She loves to be around people, even if she doesn’t join in with a conversation. Taillefer actually prefers sitting and listening to others conversations and stories, rather than trying to make her own. She will occasionally speak up when feeling confident or even cocky, trying to make her own stories to impress the others, but that is often a rare thing. She is quite a cuddly person, and enjoys the touch of others, rather than pushing it away.
In terms of loyalty, she remains close to those who do well by her or treat her with respect, or give her no reason at all to hate them. Her vows to friends are often unbreakable, even when they injure her or hurt her, as she is so afraid of losing someone. To strangers or those who she works with, she tends to speak in a singular tone, trying her best to hide the fact that she is a woman. This can sometimes be mistaken for her being cold, but in reality, she is simply being wary and trying not to give away her true self.
Like most humans, it is no surprise that Taillefer has not been exposed to the evil in life ever now and again. She had stumbled across death; having been taught how to kill and skin animals on a daily basis with her father. She had also been shown how to steal, and while she remains aware of how wrong it is and the consequences of it, she isn’t afraid to commit the act of theft. She has a habit of pick-pocketing when times are hard, as well as stealing from strangers in the forests and selling their wares at the markets, under another guise. Occasionally, she has been spotted and chased, but her free running and her ability to reach great speeds on foot has allowed her to escape true harm. She isn’t afraid to fight, or kill if necessary.
.:Strengths:. • Riding & Horses: Taillefer has always enjoyed riding, and as the daughter of a blacksmith and traveller, she was taught how to ride from a very early age. Riding is one of her true passions and she has the ability to cope without tack and can guide a horse with ease only using her legs, rather than reins, when hunting in the forests. Taillefer was taught by her father how to quickly gain the trust of a horse and calm it down, as well as how to note typical horse behaviour. It has allowed her to work well with most horses who take to her. She can keep up with most horses, due to her health and has the skill to mount a horse through jumping or at speed, or even from the ground at speed. • Imaginative: Although she has aged, she still has the imagination of a youngster which often aids her when she is trying to get out sticky situations. She thinks outside the box. • Archery & Hunting: Taillefer has always been quite good with a bow. She was taught from an early age how to hunt, as for much of her youth, she travelled with her family to the other kingdoms for supplies for her father. Her first kill with a bow and arrow was a common red fox. She has the patience to hunt when in a good mood. • Free Running/Running: Taillefer is an excellent runner, which is needed as she works with face paced, well bred horses of the royal stables. Many have a habit of bolting during training, so she must give chase in order to return them. She also uses this skill in hasty travel through the kingdom, or to sneak around, by climbing buildings and traversing across them, in the form of early free running. • Working with leather/metal: As the daughter of a blacksmith, she has obviously been trained to work with metal and leather from a young age. She works well with armour and tack, and fixes travellers tack for a small fee at the tavern.
.:Weaknesses:. • Physical Combat: While Taillefer has the strength to handle a horse, she lacks the necessary muscle and skill to truly excel without the correct training, in physical combat. She could handle herself in a pub brawl with someone of her own stature, but with a brutish fellow, she would merely turn on her heel and run, which is what she’s best at. • Letting Go: Taillefer has never been good at letting go of anything that has affected her. Many people will move on after a certain time, but Taillefer holds everything they have done against a person, more so a stranger. She can occasionally forgive, but will never forget. • Biting her lips and chewing her tongue: Both of the aforementioned are habits that commonly appear in her behaviour when she’s either nervous or concentrating. Most of the time, she’s unaware of the fact she is doing it until told.
.:Magic Abilities:. Despite having a druid grandmother, Taillefer does not possess any magical abilities. Her ability to work well with horses was once mistaken for a druid skill, which is one of the main reasons why her mother kept her away from most people. However, it is merely something that was taught to her by her father. She can, however, read the old spells and druid language, and is fascinated by them. Her grandmother taught her right up until the age of 12, and she has never forgotten her teachings, though she never uses them.
.:Special Skills:. Taillefer has always been an excellent horse rider and has the ability to bond quickly with her steeds, due to her father’s extensive teaching on equine behavior. She can ride a fully tacked horse, or even one completely void of any riding equipment with ease, which is needed for her job, as well as control her steed with her knees during hunting. She is good with a bow and arrow, though couldn’t beat the best of them and sometimes struggles with a fast moving target. She is an excellent runner, and can overcome the majority of obstacles, and combined with her ability to climb well, she is a marvellous free runner. As the daughter of a blacksmith, she is also very good with leather and metal, and can easily fix weaponry and tack, though struggles with armour. She enjoys making her own armour, to feed her fantasy of becoming a knight, which she knows will never happen.
.:Accents:. Taillefer’s accent is natural for Camelot; English and gentle, but with more grace than the usual peasant, due to working in the palace with the royals. Her voice is only slightly deeper in tone than most women’s, and can sometimes be mistaken for her being cold. | ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ | .:Birthplace:. Born in the kingdom of Camelot. .:Family:. • Mother: Aderyn Fyodorova {deceased}. • Father: William Fyodorova. • Brothers: Taranis Fyodorova (25) & Tyrion Fyodorova (20 – Tai’s identical twin brother). • Sister: Andraste Fyodorova (28) {deceased}
.:Occupation:. Taillefer’s original wish as a youngsters was to work in the stables of Camelot, as the horses were renowned for being the finest in the land. However, due to her gender, she was considered unfit to work in the royal stables as it was classed as ‘a man’s job’. Undeterred to work with horses, Taillefer now works in the local Tavern stables, caring for the horses that come and go with travellers. She cleans and feeds them, as well as cleaning the stables and fixes tack for an extra few coins. She also exercises those who are in Camelot for long stays. When not at the tavern, she makes armour and tack, then sells it, as well as trading wild horses. She sometimes takes on extra hours at the tavern in the evenings, working in the tavern and cleaning.
.:Current Location of Residence:. A small farmhouse in the fields, in one of the lower villages of kingdom of Camelot. The outside is home to some blacksmith equipment, which allows Taillefer to fix tack and armour as a side job. It has a field at the side, usually home to a horse or two, either of her own, for trade or from the tavern stables. It has a few stables at the side of the house.
.:History:. Many years ago, William Fyodorova - a young boy from Camelot - was out hunting in the forests close to the lower kingdom with his father, searching for wildlife to kill and skin, so they could be sold at the market in the following week. The Fyodorova family, blacksmiths and horse sellers by trade, were in desperate need of money to keep their family alive. Their youngest son, a baby of only four months, needed medical aid as the winter was slowly killing the boy. William and his father only wished to save the new member of their family, and hoped to find something in the forests that would put money in their pockets.
However, rather than finding any food or animals for the markets, they found a young girl, shivering in the cold snow. Unbeknownst to the Fyodorova gentleman, she was a druid, separate from her family as they tried to escape the clutches of King Uther of Camelot. William insisted on taking the young girl, by the name of Aderyn, home with them, pleading with his father to not let her die. Their kindness brought them fortune, for as Aderyn recovered, she explained who she was and that she could help the dying baby in the family. She called upon her people, reaching out to her own mother – a magical woman – after she was reunited with them. The young baby was healed, and William and Aderyn grew close in the months to come.
When they both reached seventeen, they married. William’s father gave the family house to the boy, as both of William’s parents decided they wanted a different scene and were travelling to Irick in the coming week, along with Will’s younger brother. With a good house to shelter them, money coming in from both of their jobs and love holding them together, the pair decided upon having a child and nine months later, their eldest daughter Andraste arrived in the house. The first child was a joy to have, so it was no surprise that a few years later, their first son arrived. Life went on as normal for the family; Aderyn stayed at home and cared for her children, while William worked in the town, but soon, Aderyn wished for another baby to care for.
So when Andraste was eight and Taranis was five, the Fyodorova’s welcomed two new mouths into the family; a pair of unexpected identical twins, whom they named Taillefer and Tyrion. The pair were almost the spitting image of each other, something which slightly unsettled the townsfolk as twins were quite uncommon for them. As the pair grew, their mother began to keep them away from the rest of the world, fearing that Uther would swoop down and snatch her young children from her grasp. However, Aderyn was concentrating on the wrong child. As Andraste reached the age of eleven, she was taken from the family. The villagers had begun to spread rumours, suggesting the young girl was a druid, a sorceress of the old religion. It was true that she had inherited her grandmother’s magical abilities, but Aderyn was so caught up in caring for her youngest pair of troublemakers, that she never realised it.
Andraste was grabbed as she walked home and executed before Camelot’s citizens. The family quickly abandoned their home, and travelled to Cenred’s kingdom and a village called Odelar. By this time, Taillefer and her brother were already three years of age. Taillefer had barely had any time to be the girl she truly was, but with her first born dead, Aderyn wished to keep her remaining daughter alive by faking her being a boy. She was introduced as their son, Tai, so not to confuse the young girl. She was dressed as a young boy, treated like a young boy and given the duties of a boy, in order to keep her safe. Her father trained her to hunt with her brothers, even taught her how to fix leather and ride a horse well, allowing the rest of the village to believe that she was slowly becoming a young man, rather than a woman. Her figure aided in keeping the secret, remaining androgynous through her teenage years.
It wasn’t until after her mother’s death, when Taillefer herself was seventeen, that the idyllic world the family had created, began to fall apart. Without her mother’s aid and strict ruling, Taillefer started to copy and mimic her brother’s more closely, and began to find herself interested in girls. The young women she had grown up with always believed she was a boy, and many had found themselves attracted to the idea of falling for a pair of twin boys. Tyrion had fallen for a young woman, one of which who also found herself attracted to Taillefer – believing she was Tyrion’s brother, not sister. After gaining some attention from the same sex, Taillefer’s gender secret was revealed. Once again, the family was forced to run, but Taillefer took it upon herself to leave her brothers and father to their own journey, afraid she would get them into trouble once more. She headed back home to Camelot, dropping the façade of a boy to avoid anymore trouble.
She first attempted to gain a job in the royal stables of Camelot, but was turned away due to her gender. As she wandered down the streets a few days later, a horse came bolting towards her, chased by a group of burly drunks from the tavern. She joined the chase and managed to capture the beast, returning it to the owner at the tavern, where the tavern’s stable manager quickly offered her a job as thanks, due to them being low on stable hands. While she couldn’t exactly move onwards and upwards in the tavern, she managed to work up enough money from savings over a year or so, to buy a small farmhouse located near the lower village (cheaper due to it being just outside the city boundaries), some metal and leather work equipment for fixing armour and tack (to try and gain extra money on the side) and a horse of her own, which lives in the few stables and field that she built alongside the house.
In order to gain more money, she has been known to supply travellers with tack and armour and trade with thieves to avoid her own livestock being stolen. Occasionally, while working in the tavern, she has been mistaken for a boy as she was many years ago. This has saved her life several times, so she often uses it to her advantage when the drunks are leaving to avoid being flirted with. When she needs extra money, she is sometimes called to wait in the tavern.
