She glared at Harold, silently cursed him, and turned her attentions back to her son. Richard slept peacefully in his mother's arms. She gently touched his hand, marveling at her dear boy. He was her beautiful boy, with her golden hair and green eyes. The Wynter looks graced him wonderfully, a child who would glisten in the sun. He would be risen high, and she would see to it. One day he would be lord twice over, the Lord of Gunhagel and Ellesfield. She would do anything for him; she would kill for him.
She glanced up when a servant approached and addressed her husband. "M'Lord, the wine merchant has arrived."
Harold didn't respond, but rather continued checking his finances. He was a sick man, and hard of hearing. He was not competent to bear a title and its duties. And yet he constantly refused to let her take lead. She wrung many plots to achieve this goal and failed each time. He was a believer that women should hold no power, that all important decisions were meant for men alone. Gwyneth rolled her eyes and looked back to the servant, who was now looking at her, waiting for his orders. She turned to her maid. "Anna, come and take my son. Take him to the nursery and let him sleep. Once he has awoken give him milk of the goat." She handed him over and turned to the servant, a heavy plot brewing in her mind. "I will go and greet our visitor myself, and then lead him to my lord husband."

"Indeed, she has been known to Lady Gwyneth, but I can also say that she only bites the weak or those a threat to me. I feel as if it is safe to say that you are not." Perhaps it was the wine or even the irony that made Gwyn laugh aloud at the comment. For the game's sake, she nearly always opted to play the weakling. And if she posed a threat, it would strictly be through manipulation and cunning rather than violence. It was a rarity that she should break her guise, and so she passed it off as the wine, although she spoke of something quite different. "I am sorry - it is hard to believe that I could pose a threat to anyone."
Almost as quickly as the comment ended she put up an apologetic smile, one that has been used to fool even her father. She quickly searched her mind to find something to say, something to give her recovery from her break in guise. "Its been an interesting time, having Sir Lancelot here. Especially since no one has heard of him before his arrival."
She had her own suspicions about the man, however, it was safe to say that she was suspicious of nearly everyone. Especially of someone who appears randomly, and with certain claims. No one she had spoken to had known him and so how can his credibility even be considered? Certainly someone must learn the truth, but it was not going to be her. She had other, more pressing matters to attend to.

She caught the darkening of the man's face at the mention of his father. Certainly she could use that in itself to somehow gain his alliance.
"My father was Sir Elric Dale," he replied. "He died protecting King Uther, nearly 10 years ago now."
Her brow rose as the man reached up to touch the medal around his neck, striking her interest. As quickly as it was won, it was lost. The mention of Uther almost always caused her interest to be lost. Whilst she did not use magic herself, she thought it was necessary in certain games of the court and she saw the ban of it tremendously foolish. The entire Wynter family were of the same mindset where it concerned magic, and upon the banning, they had secretly offered protection to those with magic; Ellesfield was far from the castle and so it was easy to offer some protection and funding those with magic. She hoped that with the new King's reign, magic would be restored, so that she could hire mercenary magicians.
"I am sorry," she spoke, giving her condolences to something she had no care. "It must have been hard on you."

She turned around, having grown tired of the company she kept. It would be her last time at court prior to her marriage. So she thought to make the best of her life before marrying Harold - and she would need new alliances in her unhappy union. She scanned the crowd, until her eyes found the form of a direwolf. Her eyes then moved to the beast's owner who bore quite a smirk. Gwyn was intrigued, and as such, approached her.
"Greetings," she began, employing that welcoming smile for a conversation in which she was well versed. "How do you enjoy the celebrations?" She broke eye contact with Aryenne Dracose to glance down at her white beast. Gwyn outstretched a hand to it in curiosity, and quickly drew back. Her father had warned her time again to remember her safety; at times she could be an adventurous heart, daring to comply with danger whilst forgetting her mortality. And so she asked: "Does she bite?"
Gwyn couldn't help not allow her sarcastic demeanor show in her question. She always gave a fluttering glance of her true self when playing the weak damsel; she absolutely hated taking on the persona of a weakling, although it was necessary at times. Most never caught her slip of the tongue, and she hoped that Aryenne hadn't caught it either. It would certainly cause ruin to the plots her cunning mind was already to form.

"Hello, Lady Gwyneth - I believe?" Elenora asked.
Despite feeling a bit of her pride being ripped out, she continued to smile. "Yes, I am Lady Gwyneth." She replied, momentarily letting herself slip and thus showing her true self. She quickly realized it and straightened, regaining her composure. She hoped that the lady hadn't realized the mistake, as that would mean the failure of the mission. And the Wynter's couldn't afford any more humiliations at the attempts to defeat the Burnells.
The Wynter-Burnell rivalry had lasted for nearly three full generations, the start of which happened during Gwyn's grandfather's time. Her grandfather had once been companion to his counterpart, having been close friends. However, in their early twenties, after gaining their titles, Gwyn's grandfather fell in love with his friend's betrothed. She loved the Lord Wynter in turn and they eloped at Ellesfield, much to the Lord Burnell's disdain. However, at the time, Lord Burnell was off in another kingdom. Upon his return nine months later he slew his enemy's wife, who was fresh from giving birth. The child, Gwyn's father, was only spared due to Lord Burnell's inability to harm a child. He stormed out of Ellesfield, with the infuriated Lord Wynter on his trail. However, Lord Burnell escaped to his own home and due to a claim of being under a powerful spell, was spared Lord Wynter's wrath.
And ever since the Burnells had been the enemies of the Wynters...enemies to the death.
She briefly struggled to remove her family's history from her thoughts, eventually triumphing over them in order to part her lips to speak. "What do you think of the feast?" Gwyn asked, with the intent of striking up an easy and quick conversation.

Gwyn eyed him suspiciously, as she did to anyone she met for the first time. She relaxed only when she truly noticed his look of concern. But nevertheless she kept herself on guard.
"I am the Lady Gwyneth Seymour," she replied to his question. She quickly added, "Lady of Ellesfield." She could feel that the tone of her voice grew cold, automatically as though she had no control. The little voice in the back of her mind whispered to her, stating that she should be the one to introduce herself as her father's heir rather than the wife to a man almost double her age.
She shook that from her mind and gave him a smile, one made her seem as though she was selfless. She had assumed, from his perception of caring, that she could give an attempt to gain an ally in him...especially if one was ever to be needed. And so, to start her latest game, she asked, "Who is your father?"

Gwyneth sighed with frustration as she entered the Grand Hall. Earlier in the morning her father had tasked her with a new plot. She was to locate Lady Elenora, whose family were friends with the hated Burnells. She was to befriend this lady and gain information. She truly was in no mood after a night of no sleep, but nonetheless she will do her best to comply with her father's wishes.
It didn't take long to find the lady, yet Gwyn took some caution to approach her. Since her father's order, she had spent her free time calculating a way to go about it. And always, when dealing with such matters, it was always wise to employ a bit of caution.
Gwyn paused to take in a short breath and enlist a smile. She needed it to seem as though she didn't have a deceiving manner behind her smile. She needed a smile without the slightest hint of scorn and annoyance. Normally she didn't need to take too much of a care on this matter, but dealing with the Burnells in such a fashion as she was about to do, called for it.
Satisfied with her smile, she moved forward until she stood across from Elenora. "Hello," she began, faking a voice of kindness. She carefully studied Elenora's reaction, thinking of the best direction to take the conversation.

Gwyneth looked to the handsome man with a firm look. She hadn't recognized him, but that was to be expected - scantly had she traveled to court since her marriage to Harold. She stared blankly at the man's hand, almost as though she didn't know the offer for help. Her mind was still halfway lost in thought and so his words offered a slight recovery:
"Are you injured, my lady?" The golden-haired man asked. "Please allow me to help you up."
Saying nothing, she took his hand. She wouldn't answer the prior, although she wasn't suffering an injury. The Wynters never admitted to pain. Instead, in a low tone, she spoke, "Thank you." Suddenly, as her mind fully returned into reality, her pride got the best of her. Her cheeks were now flushed into a light damask colour and her eyes were evasive. She could tell he was quite pitiful of her and she couldn't bare it - how could she, having suffered such an embarrassment. At least there had been no one else present but the two. Her curiosity at that moment had gotten the better of her mind ans she asked, "Who are you?" But, as always, her voice was on guard. For all she knew he could be affiliated with the enemies of her family, and she had to be wary of anyone she recently met.

Gwyn was lost in thought, thinking heavily on her foolish brother and Gunhagel. Her mind was always filled with thoughts of her childhood home - she was always considering ways to remove her brother. She had a son now and needed to think on his advancement. Richard was the second son of a Lord and all he would gain was knighthood. And that was not enough for her golden-haired lad. He deserved better - he deserved a title. And so she spent her moments alone in thought, plotting ways to remove her brother and stepson...to give her boy Gunhagel and Ellesfield. It was what Richard deserved; prior to her brother Bartholomew's birth she had been her father's heir. In any case both her brother and stepson were weak and should he lovely son be anything like his mother, then he would not. Even her father, dear Lord Wynter, would have preferred to have his eldest daughter and most favoured daughter as the future Lady of Gunhagel.
Unwilling, Gwyneth tore herself from thought. It was a matter for another time, for when she would return to Ellesfield and gaze upon her boy. And she would return in a week, after the celebrations had ended. Then she could return to her plots. Her mind, as her father advised, required respite. She wasn't all too hasty to cease her plans. How could she? With each day that passed her son would be known only as the second son of a Lord. She couldn't bare that whilst her stepson lorded over the Estate with a weak hand.
Her plots had, thus, returned as quickly as they left. Yet this time she let them get the best of her; she didn't seem to notice that there was a small rose bush in her path. She tripped and, shocked, she remained there, on her knees with dirt on her damask gown. She gazed down at the roses she had brutally murdered. She could feel her already stern look hardening as she looked up, praying that no one had seen her fumble. And to her great unhappiness, there was someone there.

For those wanting a graphics program but can't afford it and/or those who would like to learn, Adobe has been issuing a free download of CS2. No one buys it anymore anyway, so this is a great advantage! This includes Photoshop, ImageReady, Adopbe Bridge, and othes. Naturally you can choose what to download but by the look of things I recommend downloading the entire Creative Suite rather than the individual items. You can always select which ones to get rid of, if you don't want it, but you'd have everything all at once...and for free!
Adobe CS2 Download
Ps for those of you interested in learning but will need help, PM me and I'll give you a PM tutorial through screenshots and explanations. Also PM me if you want to find some more free graphics websites. I have a whole list since I like experimenting.

Greetings everyone!
My name in RL is Ashley but I go by a variety of things: Ash, Ashleymae, Mae, and Gwyn (which happens to be a favourite character's name of mine to use on rp sites).
It is an honour to be here, as I enjoy both Merlin and Arthurian fanfiction. I do think an important aspect to having writing partners is letting a bit (not too much) known to who *we* would be writing with. That way *we* can all be on equal terms and, hopefully, have no squabbles here and there.
Before I delve completely into a brief background I need to mention that while I hail from the US, most of the books I have read and/or own (my room is literally flooded with them) have been published in the UK and so, starting from a very young age, I have adopted most British writing habits. For example I find it difficult to spell 'colour' as we Americans do.
Education wise, I am currently a senior in high school (younger than my classmates), living in Michigan. Next year I plan to attend University with a major in History and a minor in Medieval History. After that I plan to return to the same University to gain my Masters in Medieval History. From there I hope to gain a PhD of History at Cambridge, if I have enough money at the time. If not, I'd likely continue on with my planned University. For those of you who are curious the University in which I speak is Western Michigan.
Writing wise, I have been doing it since I was first taught to write a story. And I have adopted several language styles throughout the past, as I love reading material from the early 1900s and before.
Roleplay wise, I have been doing it for over five years now.
Out of all genres I prefer fantasy and historical fiction, although I am known to dabble here and there in horror and Doctor Who and Torchwood fanfiction.
Most of my inspiration comes from the Celts, Norse, Greeks, Romans - including the Medieval, Renaissance, Elizabethan, Baroque, Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian periods. Of course certain legends also serve as inspiration, Robyn Hode and Arthurian things mostly.
Some of my favourite people in history, who often serve as great inspiration vary, the most notable being: Boudika, Empress Matilda, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionhearted, William Wallace, Jacques de Molay, everyone involved in the Wars of the Roses, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, and of course Queen Victoria.
I have, over the years, taught myself to speak Latin and read/translate into the Ancient Norse Runes of which have served as Tolkien's inspiration behind the Dwarf Runes.
My favourite type of music is Classical, but I also am deeply in love with Rock - they are really the only two I listen to. Yes I know very well how contradicting I am!
I have a hobby of collecting first printing books. My other hobby is graphics and I'll do them for you if you want one or some.
Oh, and I love cooking!
Favorite Animal: Cat, Fox, Horse, Wolf, Dog - I can't decide Favorite Color: Crimson Favorite Book: This one is hard - I have many. However I am currently obsessed with G.R.R Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire Favorite Movie: Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit Favorite TV Show: Doctor Who, Torchwood Favorite Song: American in Paris - Gershwin Favorite Food: Mashed Potato and Chicken Bowl recipe I created

| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Gwyn is pale, with long golden hair. Usually she has it down, wearing any colors that fit her mood. Her eyes are green that, as her father says, peirce the soul. Her look is always stern and when she does smile her lips hurt, and that can be told by her face. She keeps a blank expression on her face, believing that showing true emotion is a dangerous thing...particularly when at court.
She is as slender as any woman of her status, and she keeps in shape by walking, eating fruits, and, on rare occasion, joining a hunt. .:Height:. 5’7 .:Portrayed by:. Lena Headey
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Gwyneth most of the time takes on a stern look, which becomes close to bitterness. Rare is it that she will express her true emotions, as she believes that is a sign of weakness - especially when dealing with courtly intrigue. While her looks are inherited by her mother, her sharp personality is inherited by her father. She is one of wit and cunning, strong in pride and fearful of her family’s destruction. She will do anything to get her way, either by negotiation or force. Often, she partakes in her father’s dealings with other noble - even more so where it concerns the Wynter’s rivals, the Burnell family. As her father, she shows them no mercy in the way that they try, constantly, to destroy the Burnell lineage. Unlike her father, she is absent of the longing of a physical fight - she has become detested of his constant searching for one, however, she does, at times, accompany him on one of his many hunts. .:Strengths:. Her family’s wealth, wit, and cunning. .:Weaknesses:. Pride - sometimes she becomes blinded by it, Wynter advancement - she would do nearly anything for it, and showing no emotion - sometimes it backfires. .:Magic Abilities:. None .:Special Skills:. Debate Winning/Convincing - Being her father’s favourite child, he had her exceptionally taught on how to win a debate and, in some cases, convince them to see her way. .:Accents:. English

Lady Seymour of Ellesfield .:Current Location of Residence:. Ellesfield Estate - Camelot .:History:. Gwyneth was born the oldest child of the Lord Wynter of Gunhagel and she had grown up, for the first twelve years of her life, believing as though it would be her to inherit her father’s title and estate. And so it was quite a shock when her mother gave birth to Bartholomew - the sibling who took away her claim and who would become her enemy. Her father made it no secret that she was the favourite of all his children, both legitimately and illegitimately (of which there have been quite a deal of) and so he made it is primary duty to find her a husband that would give her a title and land. In fact if it was his way, Bartholomew (who he has come to think of as a disgrace), would not inherit at all and all of it would go to Gwyneth.
And as such, he married her off to the Lord of Ellesfield at nineteen. Harold Seymour was late middle-aged and already had children of his own. His children were in their late teens. The third year of their marriage produced a son and so Gwyn, with the support of her father, planned to do everything in her power to ensure that it would be her son that would inherit his father’s title and estate. This is her primary concern for the moment and when she has succeeded with that, she has planned to work on becoming her father’s heir once again.
Where her allegiance is concerned, she openly follows her husband’s beliefs, as that is the duty of a noblewoman. But in secret, she will support anyone who could pay the right price - that is, she will prefer the winning side to ensure her safety. She, too, is of the sort to prefer minimal chaos.
Lord Seymour has become bedridden with an illness that he is uncertain to recover from. With such happenings she took it as opportunity to take complete charge over the running of the estate. After all, her husband isn’t dead and she is in the right to do so. Naturally she plans to use this to her advantage.
Her father, recently, has been struck with memory loss and has left his lands in the care of his son while he moved into Ellesfield Castle. Here he remains under his daughter’s complete care and he, most times, acts as her chief advisor in her actions. Upon her father’s request Mary moved in to Ellesfield and be under her care. Naturally Gwyn has also taken this as an advantage - one that will permit Mary to be a pawn in her games.
