"Well, you, nobles, have so many rules, don't do this, don't do that. You were right to speak your mind. Who you are shouldn't be restricted by your rank," His words struck a chord with her. A commoner he may have been, but he certainly had the heart of a noble as well as the mind. "Unfortuantly my father doesn't quite see it that way, but I suppose he's grown up with those morals being drummed into him" she replied, "I never really lived by the rules though, I tried to but it was suffocating - that and my father would always tut at something or other if I set a foot out of line. Im starting to wonder if that was one of the reasons why he kept me away from court and any visitors."
Yes, life had definatly felt a lot more free at Eldon's inn.
"You were really a barmaid? You left your home and your life to be a commoner? Was it really that bad?" She ran a hand through her hair, that had become tangled in places from the windwhilst running. It most likely resembled a birds nest by now, or so she believed. Romily merely nodded at this, "In a nutshell, yes" she admitted, "to each of those - I left and wandered for a while, doing odd jobs here and there to at least have some money or a bed for the night - then I started work as a barmaid at an inn and that was only really an exchange for a roof over my head, and that's it really..." she paused, "I passed myself off as a commoner and no one knew about it."
Romily sat back more against the tree, rolling her head to the side to look at Percival, "Now you've heard the boring story of my life" she grinned, "So come on - an eye for an eye, what's your story, if you don't mind telling me?". Romily knew very little about Percival, only that he was a commoner - and that had been found out when they'd first met in the courtyard of the castle. "Do you miss home?"

With a small 'hmm' she eyed him over her cup as she drank the last of her drink. He could do what he wanted with the barmaid, she really didn't care for the details. Back at Eldon's inn, his daughter had spent many evenings flirting her way around the bar with many a passing man. To Romily, this man seemed like the male equivalent to her - geez!
Oookaaaay so she had been expecting an answer like that. “As for you, you could tell me your name, or I will just give you a nickname, which would you prefer?”. She put her cup down calmly and looked at him, "Millie" she told him, not even wanting to know what kind of nicknames he had lined up for her, "My name is Millie". Her eyes flickered to meet his, "Now...seeing as i've given you my name, I think it only fair for you to give me yours." Her brows raised slightly as she smirked at him again. The landlord brought the pair another couple of drinks and Romily thanked him, waiting for the no named man to answer her question.

"Consider it my apology then for having chased you down like that. And with a sword no less. I don't know what I'd do if I had hacked you," He genuinely looked sorry at chasing her down, but to Romily it wasn't such a big thing as it was before when he was chasing her. "My father would've thanked you" she chuckled, "besides, it's just a sword - as long as you hacked me down quickly then I would've embraced it." To die a slow and painful death really wasn't something that anyone would look forward to, and Romily certainly wouldn't have wanted to finish her life that way.
She clung to him steadily as he carried her. No one truly knew of why Morgana would suddenly turn against everyone that she had loved, or whether she had was another thing. Never the less she was now sitting on Arthur's throne holding Gwaine and Gauis in a dingy cell. They sat there for a while, Percival giving in and allowing her to watch with him. "What do you mean by that? You're are of noble blood, and you have that grace and beauty that noblewomen possess. You are every been a noble," he'd asked when she said she wasn't normal. Romily just shrugged at this, blushing slightly when he said that she had grace and beauty - it was good that there was darkness around them, at least he couldn't see her cheeks burning. "Not entirely" she'd protested at this, "I speak my mind when I believe it right to do so - sometimes this isn't good for a woman of my rank, my father always saw this as a flaw." she admitted, "always said that I was more like my mother than I should be - Then being a barmaid made me stray even more from my noble ways, well at least I think it did - so I see myself more 'feral' than an 'ordinary' noblewoman." It was then Romily chuckled slightly, "and look at me going ooooon and oooon about nothing of relevance whatsoever - so I think i'll stop talking now."
She really didn't want to bore Percival to death, so now was the best time to just shut up and listen for anything or anyone who could be lurking.

Romily smirked at his words, it was all well and good doing his duty to the people of Camelot but there had to be some sort of limit. "You forget, Im not from Camelot" she laughed lightly, "but I very much doubt that any Knight of Carmelide would've gone to the lengths that you have".
She frowned slightly, "about a day or so, i've just been wandering and hiding, trying to find any sort of large stick to whallop anyone with. You got lucky, I haven't found any so far" her smile returned to her lips. "I'm feeling fine right now. I wish the others are safe. Morgana is determined and she's become very powerful," Romily had heard things of Morgana, lots of things in fact - she never wanted to come face to face with the woman herself, who knew what she was capable of - apparently a lot of things if she was blasting Knights of Camelot into oblivion. "Why is she so determind to take Camelot?" she asked, "She was King Uther's ward was she not? What possessed her to suddenly have so much hatred for a place so well loved?"
Romily looked up at Percival worriedly now, "Gwaine and Gauis were left behind?" she asked, she had only seen Gauis just hours before Morgana had turned up, "I knew I should've stayed behind" she muttered to herself, "I should've helped everyone else." she dreaded to think what was to become of people who had come to be her friends. The only friends that she would ever say that she had. Camelot meant a lot to her, especially as she'd only stayed for such a short amount of time.
Not if I strive to keep you safe first" she found herself saying in answer to Percival's words as he set her down in a secluded place. "Even with a stick im pretty lethal.". With another shake of the head, she refused to allow Percival to stay up and watch all night. "No, if we are to face anything or anyone that comes our way then we do it together" she told him, "I shall sit up with you - after all, I'm not exactly the definition of an ordinary noblewoman." After a job as a barmaid and a father who was more intrested in his own affairs instead of his daughters welfare, she was pretty sure that she wouldn't ever class herself as an 'ordinary noblewoman' again.

"Really, I am" she smiled up at him, he shouldn't worry about her, "besides i've been in far worse positions than this." It was then she said her thoughts out loud, "you shouldn't worry for me - I'm still in one piece".
"This doesn't look like a good place to spend the night. Here, let me carry you, and we can go to my little nook back there", She gave a small yelp as Percival scooped her up, not expecting him to do such a thing. Wrapping her arms gently around his neck so as she wouldn't fall, she looked up at him again. "Really, you do not have to carry me" she laughed lightly, "I am far capable of walking." Yes...just about. "How long have you been here for?" she asked, "or like me, have you just been searching the forest for some sign of life?"
She winced slightly at his words. "Are you alright though? After what Morgana did to you?" she asked, "Gosh I hope Arthur and the others are safe." Romily nodded when he asked if she had left with Sir Leon's group, "I did - but there were so many people being led out in other groups so quickly that I was left behind from his - so I just start to run, anywhere really...I wasn't really looking where I was headed, everything was such a blur that I just found myself alone trying to find someone and hoping that it wasn't one of Morgana's men" she explained, and then looked around the eerie darkness surrounding themselves and the forest. Even now with someone there, she was still scared.
"Will they come after us?" she asked quietly, "Morgana's men?" because right now the last thing she wanted to do was to another marathon through the forest
OOC: Nope it was fine No need to change it.

Obviously this man hadn't expected such a reaction fom her, given his facial expression now. “And what if I don’t want to charm just any barmaid tonight? Would you believe me?” At this, Romily shook her head. "It would most certainly be a shame for her, to say the least" she smirked, "I think she was hoping that you would immediatly go running on back to her" Once again her eye caught the barmaid's who now looked as though she would run Romily through! Had Eldon's daughter have been here then she would've immediatly turned on the 'charm', fluttering her eyelashes and giggling like a child. She loved the attention that all the men at the Inn gave her, and never allowed Romily to forget which one of them was the 'better' of the other. Romily didn't do such things, after all - she had been brought up to act all proper and ladylike. “Just grace me with your company, and I will drink as a happy man tonight.” he was now saying.
Romily thought about it for a few moments, perhaps just one drink wouldn't hurt would it? And if he tried anything funny then he would soon know whether she was impressed or not. "Alright" she finally said, sitting back down on her chair, "but it would be nice to actually know the name of the man who I am drinking with this evening."

Percival was now apologising for everything but Romily simply shook it off, "Really, there is no harm done - you were merely doing the right thing, after all I could have been someone rather unpleasent." Yes, and so could he have been, but she was still thankful that it was Percival and not one of Morgana's men all the same. "I...I don't know" she replied in answer to whether she was hurt, "I haven't really tried to stand." On this she placed one hand on the tree trunk and pushed herself up, there was slight pain to her ankle but nothing major. At least she would be able to walk on it a little. "Im fine" she lied and turned to Percival - just forgetting at how much taller he was than her. Right now her ankle didn't exactly matter. "And are you ok?" she asked him. For all she knew he could have injured himself just as much as she had, running around the forest in total darkness.
"I wish I could say I know where everybody else had gone, but like you, I'm stuck here all alone as well," That wasn't good at all, she was lucky to have found him when she had. "I lost my way, everyone just split up and ran to wherever - I had no idea who they were or where to go, the forest is such a large place! I'm just so glad that I have found someone at least" she admitted, "I have no idea just what's going on or why..." she paused, once again taking in his earlier words. "Wait a moment, weren't you with Arthur and the others?" she asked - surely the Knights would have been with their King?

What was it with men and not taking a hint. Once again the words were that of the ale speaking and not him. “Then the world is a cruel place indeed, your beauty outshines the women at court.” Really?! Romily gave a small sigh, "Well then I thank you for the compliment sir, but as I have seen none of these women then I must disagree."
She felt him grab her hand as she went to walk away, looking down at his fingers tracing across her knuckles before looking back up at him. "And you are very persistant" she replied. Her eyes rolled at the part where he didn't want to be condemed to a night of solitude. Really? Now she hadn't seen that one coming! "Well then im sorry to disappoint" she simply smiled and shrugged, "but really, there are other barmaids who I think wouldn't pass up the chance" her gaze wandered to where the barmaid that the man had been talking to earlier, was staring at them - shooting a look of daggers at Romily in particular.
She turned back to the stranger, "What is it going to take for you to leave me be?" she asked, knowing that it was most likely a question that she would regret.

The figure soon loomed over her. Romily had thought that before people died their lives flashed before there eyes, yet hers hadn't, so perhaps that was a good thing. Her heart was beating so fast and loudly that she thought in a moment or two it would just escape her altogether. Could this man even hear it? Just to show how scared she actually was. Probably not but to Romily it sounded louder than anything else around.
She frowned at the trunk slightly when a voice, presumably from the figure spoke softly. "It's all right now. I'm not going to hurt you. I didn't meant to chase you down hard like that, I am so sorry." Feeling herself shaking, she turned and lifted her head slightly to see the man in question. Why was he saying sorry? Was she not who he was looking for? Had he thought that she had been someone else? An easy mistake to make in darkness, but an easy prey all the same. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, taking in what little features that the limited light had to offer. He was tall for a start, as well as appearing quite muscular, she knew that much.
Resisiting the urge to just tell him to kill her and get it over and done with she soon recognised just who exactly this man was. "Percival?" she said, her voice shaking slightly as her eyes scanned his features over again, just to clarify that this was indeed a Knight of Camelot and not one of Morgana's men hunting for innocent people.

Romily kept a watch on most of the people as they mainly drank up and left, a couple coming in later than usual. Obviously their work had prevented them from coming in anytime sooner so it seemed. It had been the same at Eldon's, except by now most of the locals were tucked up in bed, readying themselves for the next day - but tere had been the odd few, even travellers who had headed in later than usual. Romily had always treated them no different to any others, even if she was struggling to keep her eyes open. She often found herself to be the last one in bed and the first to rise - then again, that was her all over, and she had certainly worked for her money and keep when she had been at Eldon's.
"Forgive me for interrupting your thoughts my Lady, but your beauty is so enchanting I am surprised not every man in the room has offered you proposals of affection.”
She raised her head to look up at the voice who was clearly above her. Romily had noticed him before, a favourite with the barmaids and the landlord as she had noted during the last few times of seeing him. A small snort escaped her lips, oh the irony of it all! "You flatter me sir, but I am no lady" she lied, "and as for beauty? How many other barmaid have you said the same thing to?", her smirk was twitching at the corner of her lips. Many times she'd heard lines like this from guests at The Ram, and she had allowed them to go over her head. Most were from men who were either to drunk to see clearly, and whether this man was or not was another story. Either way she'd soon find out, as it appeared he wasn't going to leave her be anytime soon.
"And now if I am thinking correctly, you will now pester me for my name until you have it, and will then continue to flatter me some more" she told him, "believe me, through the eyes of a barmaid myself, I know how this works, and unfortunatly on me - it fails to do so." With a small wink, she drunk the rest of her drink and went to stand up to leave.

Romily had only been in Camelot for a few days and was already beginning to feel like she actually belonged there. Her mind had been put to rest knowing that she had Arthur's support during her stay, and to have found out that no, he wasn't a knight, but indeed the King, had been a complete shock. However his words of kindness brought her round and with him knowing her current situation as well as the one before it had made her feel more at ease, knowing that she would have at least one friend here.
Currently sitting in the bar of the inn, Romily sipped at her drink at a table in a corner away from everyone else. Somewhere where she would at least be out of the way and would have no one to bother her. The landlord had been kind to her - most likely because she was a lone feamle traveller, that and he had no idea exactly who she was and what she was hiding. To him she was just another ordinary woman passing through. He would be in for the shock of his life, should she have presented herself as Lady Romily, like she had done to Arthur and his court.
She toyed her fingers on the wood of the table top, tracing circles and random patterns round and round. She'd already seen a few familar faces start to leave, so perhaps it would be wise to head to bed herself soon enough. Taking another sip of her drink, she glanced around the bar. It was now she could finally say that she was free of her father, Eldon and his daughter and anyone who had stood in her way before.

She carried on running, running for her life. She hadn't run as fast as this since she had been fleeing from Cenred's men in the Forest of Balor. Now history seemed to be repeating itself with different consequences, except this time she didn't have Arthur on hand to help. "You there! Stop!" Stupidly she did as the voice called out to her, looking over her shoulder to see where the figure, presumably a man was, and it appeared that he was gaining on her fast. Taking off again she ran on ahead - if he wanted to kill her then it would have to be in the darkest part of this wood. At least then she wouldn't be able to see his face.
Romily pushed leaves and branches from her face and from blocking her route, it slowed her down, but at least it bided her some time as her pursuer would be taking the same way. Things would have been so different if she'd had stayed working as a barmaid - now she was fleeing all the carnage that was going on in Camelot. At least she had been able to stop brawls in the bar. Here she couldn't even stop anything.
Her foot caught something, possibly an upturned root and before she knew it she was tumbling to the forest floor. Ouch, now that had hurt! It occured to her that wearing a dress probably wasn't appropriate for this type of thing, then again she hadn't expected to be running round the forest in the dead of night. Romily scrambled as much as she could to get away, but it seemed that it all ended here and now. Her pursuer was almost within reach, and with no time to get to her feet, there was only one thing to do. Quickly scrambling up against the tree trunk she huddled into it, trying to catch the last bit of breath that she may have. She didn't want to look at him, whoever he was. All she did now was just huddle against the trunk and waited.

“But it is right that some of us are meek, and some are loud. If we were all loud then no one would be.” Romily smiled sadly. "I do not wish to offend anyone when I say this, but I would rather be neither." she replied honestly, "However when I believe it is right to, I do speak my mind - something that my father does no approve of. It is rather unbecoming of a young woman apparently, especially when she is not yet married." Her fathers words, not hers.
Romily studied the details on Caitrin's dresses. She was a very talented embroiderer , she had to admit. The patterns and styles were simple and elegant so as they wouldnt make the dress appear to bold. "You have a very steady hand" she nodded in approval, "and a very fine talent on saying that." “Do you make your own dresses, or do you have someone to make them?”, Romily shook her head. "When I have the time, I've only ever made two - but most my father allows a seamstress to make for me, perhaps he does not trust my judgement when it comes to designing a gown." Walking to her cupboard, she retrieved a dress with a white bodice and undergown, embroided with flowers, where as the puffed out sleeves and overgown were a dark green. "This is one that I made, probably the only decent one in my opinion." she smirked, "and this..." she pulled out her bright pink one with gold stitching and bell sleeves, "was a gift from my father, now compare the two and tell me what you think to be the most practical" a playful smirk form on her lips. The pink dress was her favourite, it made her stand out - even though she hated standing out in a crowd (whenever there was one) she found that there was something about this dress that she loved.
Romily shook her head at Caitrin's suggestion. "My father would not allow it, let alone have me travel to Camelot. I've never gone as far as this house, so for him to allow me to leave the Kingdom would be most unusual of him to allow." She answered, "as much as I would like to experiance court life, I sometimes hear things that go on, the scandal and gossip - I would be like a lamb to the slaughter should I be presented to the Carmdelide court now. Gossip spreads like wildfire, and with all the pride, envy and scorn that appears to be present, many things would be said or made up that my father would not like."

"You have no reason to apologise Caitrin" Romily replied, noting the look and tone of Caitrin's voice as though she thought she was doing something wrong. "Im just not used to having someone other than my father or maid to talk to". It was a miracle that Caitrin was still in the room, let alone listening to her.
Romily smiled, "I would rather be forwards than meek" she said quietly and looked at the dress again, "my father has particular preferances and standards when it comes to me being fit enough to be presented to people - it's very rare , but hopefully tonight he should approve." Probably not, but then again this was her father who always made things difficult. "I do so like your dress - Did you have it made in...Camelot was it?" she asked, trying to remember the name of the Kingdom where Caitrin now lived with her Uncle.
She nodded when Caitrin mentioned about the Camelotian court. "It sounds marvelous." She had yet to experiance the Carmelidian Court, "and indeed they are - but really. I have none" she gave a small laugh at this, not caring what Caitrin thought. "I've wished it, but I am not one to go against my father - Im not ashamed to admit that he holds a tight leash onto me. So i've never actually been to court or anything. I've never been outside of Carmelide nor have I ever made any real friends. He does it to protect me though - which I suppose is fair enough, but there's only so much that one can take of the same place before they become a little suffocated." Her smile did not fade, but covered all the sadness she felt once she realised that just keeping to one house was her life, and would be until the day her father died. He wouldn't marry her off - even if he always said that she should find herself a husband it would never happen. All because he apparently 'cared' too much.

Romily felt a little uneasy at their guest referring to her as 'my lady' in such a situation - even if it was a standard custom. "Please, call me Romily" she told her, "I really do not care for formalities and titles when my father isn't around." A small smirk spread across her lips.
She suspected Caitrin was 'quite the opposite', as she was far more confident and sociable than Romily was or could ever be. "I suspected as much - but then again compared to me it isn't hard to be" giving a slight chuckle she toyed with the dress in her hands, looking down shyly at the fabric when Caitrin said that she would look beautiful. "Thankyou" she replied quietly, "I am glad to see that I at least have the approval of one person here." Ok Bonnie had approved to but guest-wise? Caitrin would most likely be the only one, and her father would probably deem the garment 'satisfactory', then again he was a hard man to please.
Settling herself down on the edge of the bed, Romily put the dress down by the side of her. "You must get bored of your Uncle bringing you to places like this - and all for the sake of fidning you a husband" she stated. "My father sees differently and keeps me away from any kind of events as much as possible - which is probably why I don't have any friends." the last part came out in a small mumble when she realised that she was actually ashamed of admitting this.

“Forgive the intrusion my Lady, I wondered if there was anything I could assist you with for dinner?” The voice made Romily jump slightly. She hadn't been expecting anyone to listen in - let alone it being Lady Caitrin. Putting down the dress she smiled a little shyly at the younger girl, feeling a little guilty at leaving her with her father and Lord Rouland. "Oh" was all she could really say to Caitrin's offer. It was unlike anyone to offer to help Romily to do anything - Unless it was Bonnie of course, but even then she only assisted her mistress when it was crucial. "I, erm...well, I suppose you could tell me as to whether this is a suitable dress for the evening" she smiled, beckoning Caitrin into her room.
"That will be all for now Bonnie" she smiled, as the older woman rose and headed out of the room. Once the door was closed Romily turned to Caitrin. "Forgive me for my hasty exit earlier - I did not mean to be so inconsiderate as to leave you with my father and your uncle. It was most ingracious of me." After all a hostess should treat her guests far better than she had done so far.
"I am always wary of new people my lady...until I get to know them that is." she admitted quietly, "I very rarely get to be in their company, so I suppose I should feel priviledged to have this opportunity." Studying the dress, she turned to Caitrin, "What do you think?" It would be nice to have someone elses opinion for once, other than Bonnie always stating that she looked fine.

He was being followed? Romily frowned at this - she certainly hadn't seen anyone acting suspiciously around the house, but then again there was woodland, and it was easy just to hide behind a tree or a bush. "You see...I got into a spot of bother...nothing too serious...I should think, but, well, here we are. But I have a plan, sort of. I just need your help. It's awful of me to impose like this I know, and I wouldn't if I had any other option, but quite simply I don't. You see, you, Lady Romily, are my only hope and I'm terribly sorry." He had a plan? That involved her? Oh great, this was all that she needed - for all Romily knew there could be weapons involved and she had never really weilded a sword in her life, well once - but that was only in defence and even then she really couldn't hold it properly. She'd sworn off weapons since then, perferring to use the method of compromise (should there be a chance to take it) and it seemed to work.
"Forgive me if I haven't got this right but...You want me to be part of a plan that I have no clue with pan out - because you are being followed for reasons of a situation that you obviously got into yourself?" she sat back and replied cooly. He looked like the type who was always in trouble. "Let me hear of this plan first - then I shall tell you whether I agree to it." she told him, "I do not know if I can trust you going by what has already been said, but if you do happen to be telling the truth, then I will do all that I can to help you."
Romily shot him a coy smile before reaching over and pouring Richard a goblet of wine and passing it to him. "Now...tell me about this plan."

"You flatter me. I am not nearly as fine a man as you think." She returned this statement with a weak smile, not pitiful nor mocking - but Aidan genrally sounded set upon this. Who was she to judge, then again she never thought the worst of people when she first met them, well the ones that her father had allowed her to meet anyway, she could tell the decent ones for the undecent - but everyone had a redeeming quality didn't they? Now I don't believe that" she replied gently, "what makes you say such a thing?" It would have to be very bad for Aidan to think like that of his character.
"Think nothing of it" she brushed off his thanks. She didn't need it - she'd only done what she thought was right. Snorting at the comment of it being a habit as well as a natural talent - Romily shook her head. "When you're cooped up in a big house all day, every day with only your father and maid for company, then you tend to read up and learn about many things that may help in later life." she smiled sadly, "but a habit it is unfortunatly not, and as for a talent? Well my father certainly would not approve of such a thing." Durwin was all for rules and decorum, and always made sure that his daughter knew that. Millie had grown used to it, and couldn't wait until she could finally be around people freely without the watchful eye of her father and his 'excuses' for her. That would never happen though - it would take a miracle to actually live a life she wanted to.

Oh my! I really wasn't expecting to log on and see this! I've only just managed to go through all the member awards and things this week so it was certainly a surprise! Congrats to everyone on their awards and achievements so far! You all deserve them!
Seeing all this in words has really made my day, and although im not on site as much as i'd like to be anymore, I always look forward to logging back on and catching up with everyones posts - whether they be just reading them or writing them myself. Even though I had to make the sad decision of stepping down as Merlin, I didn't want to leave the site fully, as it really is the best roleplay around! Reading all the wonderful comments that people have written have really have made me smile! and I can't wait to continue roleplaying with you guys, because you (as well as the admins) make this place what it is
Ok - with that speech over (thankfully I didn't have a Hallie Berry moment and cry) I think it's time to crack on with some posting!
