Day 6: Member Highlight: Queen Guinevère

Take a moment, and click on the members button below the logo of the site, and then click on top posters, you will notice then, our very own leading lady, and today's Member Highlight: Guinevère.

In the series we first see her high in the tower window, dusting off some sort of fabric, and taking notice of two men who will help shape her path to being queen. For our role play however, we first meet our Guinevère when she took an OC, on the day she joined the site on May 13, 2010. Her OC was a Guinevère-like character, with her being a seamstress. Her first thread? With Arthur of course, as destiny was starting back then.

When the member who played Gwen then, had to leave the site, our current Guinevère made her new account and on Jun 18, 2010 joined the ranks of our canons. From there, we watched our two most active members surpass all expectations and make new standards for the role play.

You might know her as The Duchess, or just Duchess as she is known on other websites and communities. Her wit, and humor has won the hearts of many members, just as her insight to Guinevère has built her name in the Merlin fan fiction community. Never far from her best friend in real life, our very own Arthur Pendragon, she has shown everyone what you can do with canon when you put your heart in to them.

Her threads has brought tears to many an eye, and bushes on many cheeks, with the aid of her favored posting partner and role play husband. Starting from a maid, and building to a queen, out Guinevère has taken us on this journey though laughs, loves, wits and wisdom.

For her personal life, Duchess is a college student who works two jobs and has a beloved yellow lab. She enjoys reading romance, watching sci-fi, and skyping with her best friend for five to ten hours or more a day. Below you will find some comments written by her friends here on the role play and on other websites about her.

Duchess, Thank you for everything you have brought to, and given to this role play. For fighting for us when he needed it, and for being our bright star for when we needed your light most.

AHHH there is SO much I can say about my lovely Guinevère and I'm pretty sure that even after writing a million words about her, I could still go on and on!!! So I'm going to try to keep this as short and sweet as possible . . . yeah right!! But anyway, I met Guinevère on a Prison Break role play about seven years ago!! I would say it was love at first sight, but it wasn't!! What I DID know was that she had quickly become one of my favorite people to post with! Mostly because I LOVED the character she created and I LOVED the friendship that we had created between them!! That . . . was just the beginning. From there onward we joined and made SEVERAL rps together!! We had played everything from friends, enemies, sibling like friends, etc etc, and now, lovers. While Arthur and Guinevère aren't our first couple we've played, they're one of my favorites!! I could go on and on about how AMAZING Tash's portrayal of Guinevère is, but this is about the member, not the character. And even still, I could easily go on for hours and hours about how AMAZING she is as a person, but I'll try to limit myself!! SO, with that said, I would just like to say how kind, caring, loyal, and an INCREDIBLE friend she is!! She always listens to me when I need to rant, and has given me so much support during some of the hardest times in my life!! She's always there to offer a listening ear, or even just sit in silence when I need company but don't feel up for talking! She'll offer to beat up anyone who pisses me off (something I GREATLY appreciate and I swear will one day take advantage of!!) and is the most loyal friend that I know!! Talking to her never fails to make a horrible day turn wonderful, or a fantastic day turn even MORE fantastic!! I don't think I can go a day without skyping her, and even when we try . . . we just end up texting each other!! hahah! Because I honestly just feel like my day isn't complete, or that something is significantly missing, when I haven't talked to her or at least heard from her in some way!! I'm sure I'm not alone in recognizing her kindness and loyalty toward her friends!! She's one of the sweetest people I know, and someone I'm proud to call my best friend!! She's made this role play SOOOO much fun for me, and I'm privileged to have been able to build more than just a posting relationship with her, but a strong friendship as well!! There are some people that you can just not picture your life without, and Tashers, you are on the top of my list!! THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN EPIC FRIEND, POSTING BUDDY, AND ULTIMATELY, A SISTER TO ME!!! I know I don't say it enough, but I LOVE YOU TONS!!!!! And you better enjoy the sappiness of this cause you know how much I suck at being emotional !!

No words. Gwen is just all kinds of amazing. Hers was the first welcome PM I got when I first joined WTC centuries ago, and she instantly made me feel well...welcome! (Was it hers or was it Arthur's? Hmmm...either way they were mere minutes apart. Hehe!) I practically didn't have to go through the awkward newbie phase because Gwen made me feel like I've been a member since forever. She's all kinds of crazy, too, but I like her kind of crazy. She forced introduced me to the RP group's Facebook mania, and scarred me for life with her 100 notifications or more torture game. (I am never touching Facebook ever again.) She is one of WTC's shining light without which it will be dark all over forever. - Shonz

Guinevère Pengragon is basically made of awesome! She was the first person that ever really spoke to me on this site, literally about 5 seconds after I signed up I found a pm from her She made me feel so welcome here and I couldn't thank her enough for that ;D If my memory serves me correctly, it was because of her that I found this awesome site anyway Haha! Now then, her portrayal of Gwen is beyond phenomenal, I absolutely love reading her posts and of course I thoroughly enjoy posting with my little sister I don't quite think my Elyan would be quite as great without her, so thank you Gwen for being so very amazing! We'd all be nothing without you! Because of Gwen's awesomeness and basically all she's done for me since I've been here, like answering my silly questions , I drew Anna Pendragon. I was reading 'An Unexpected Surprise' and as soon as I thought of a little baby girl Pendragon I just really wanted to draw her. This for Arthur too, since she's both Gwen and Arthur's child ;D after all the stuff they've done and made for me too. P.S. I do apologise for my terrible drawing skills...but I still hope you like it LOVE U GWEN!

I met Gwen back when I first joined the site, and while she is a magnificent writer, she and I have never really threaded together very much. Even so, I count her as a friend (partially because I'm really scared of what would happen to me if I were her enemy --just kidding! ...Sort of.) and I would encourage anyone who hasn't already made the effort to get to know her to get on it. Honest, intelligent, and great at giving advice, Gwen is truly a gem and we here at WTC are truly lucky to have her. --Isadora

Thank you for being so kind and welcoming when I first joined this forum two months ago. Your threads are always amazing and I find your characterization of Gwen one of the best I've ever read, whether it be in canon or Modern AU times. I would pick out my favourite quotes from the threads, but alas there are too many for me to choose. I will say that my favourite thread you have done (so far!) has to be An Unexpected Surprise. Not only because it was my plot idea but because you've managed to keep all of Gwen's amazing personality and transported to a modern setting so effortlessly it makes me want to cry!

Arthur--Thank you for your written words, and for being the best bully friend I ever did have! Just kidding, you are my best friend I ever did have bar none! I could not write with anyone else as the other half to any couple after you have spoiled me with your amazing friendship and awesome writing. When people ask me who my father author is I can say you! Arthur the author! Ha! I can still look back at the site we found each other on and smile at my horrid writing and you wonderful and open comments and posts that pulled people to you and drew them in from how warm and kind you were. In all honesty i have never met a more fair or forgiving person, then you. You draw people in, and make them feel safe. Your a magnet of awesome, and even i am drawn to you. I am honnored that for some reason you picked me to be your best friend, and to be the one who you come to with troubles. I want to foght all your battles and make others treat you with the same openness and kindness you treat them with. I get angry when people take advange of you and proud when they complment you. Elyan - That drawing is perfect! I am putting it as my phone background!! THANK YOU!! I love it!! It's perfect!! Arthur even got an email from a friend who just reads threads on the board, and they commented on it's awesome-ness! Really, you took a cannon that I thought NO one would want, and the few who did take him before you didn't give him any of the life, and wit and detail that you have. I would cry if you left! Like I did when Shonz left (but he came back!)! NEVER LEAVE ME!!!
