::vaughn:: Vaughn greatly disagreed. "We always have a choice." Vaughn was born into a noble family though that did not influence his loyalty. He had not been loyal to any of them, and did not regret his actions. Everything he did, he would do over. What was the point of regret? Everyone made decisions, because they should be so free to, and those people would have to face the consequences. So why dwell on the 'what ifs' and 'what could of happeneds' of life. "You clearly are not free to make your own choices if you have already sworn your allegiance to someone."
Yes, knights had freedom but very little of it. They were expected to always uphold the code of honor and chivalry, even if they were not on duty. To Vaughn, it was just a ridiculous thought. He could walk by a person getting attacked and he was not obligated by code, or even morally obligated, to save them. Knights on the other hand, often took the other road; acted all dramatic and saved the day. "So tell me, who then is the fool." He chuckled before taking another large sip from his drink.
Vaughn was growing more and more amused by the conversation. He did not answer his question, or his implying statement. He just gave a bit of a smirk. "Do you not listen to your king or superiors? That is following another's direction. One night to do as you please, even then to a certain extent, does not make you a free man."

::vaughn:: Vaughn was not sure when and if he would ever tell her his name, but it was not as if he planned things in the future. What would happen, would happen. He certainly was not going to tell her now. "I pity your future children. Those you will name and who will receive rather unfortunate nicknames." He smirked at the thought. Vlad. Abraham, perhaps Abe for short. Such a strange way to shorten a name.
Vaughn was barley listening to her when she went into a long description, enhancing her language to make it sound more noble-like. "That sounds a bit better," he said, having turned her out after her third word. Still. He could get the gist of what she was saying, he just did not care enough to play close attention to her words. When she looked ahead he too followed suit. He could see right over her head since she was a great deal shorter than him. He would have to familiarize himself with this area, so that he knew how to get there, if he ever needed to again.

::vaughn:: Both of their silences was enough for Vaughn to know that there was more going on. What exactly, he did not know. But Alistair had better take control of the situation before he handled it for him. When he shoved the sword back at him, Vaughn took it, glad to have his set back. He smirked, looking at Alistair, then at Isadora, then back at Alistair. He took a step towards the druid, and while Alistair had a couple of inches on him, Vaughn ensured that his point would make it across. He did not wipe the smirk from his face, but anyone who had at least one conversation with him would know he meant his words.
"If you do not control this situation, I will take over." He then turned to face the Princess. "And trust me, you would not want that." He would not kill her, but he would not show her whatever kindness Alistair had that made her rush to him when he was wounded. Then, in a less serious tone, Vaughn looked back to Alistair. He smacked the side of his shoulder. This action was ordinarily a friendly exchange between two friends, but in this case, Vaughn made sure he hit the exact same spot where Alistair had been stabbed. He hoped it hurt like hell. It was his little subtle revenge on Alistair. "Alistair." He turned and gave a short nod of acknowledgment to Isadora. "My Lady," he said, and with those words, began to walk away. Whatever was going on between them, Alistair had better control himself because Vaughn was not going to let him ruin this plan that they had worked hard, sort of worked hard, to create.
[[And thus, Vaughn makes his grand exit. Thank you for letting me guest star in your guys' thread. I had a fun time writing with both of you. If you ever need him to come back to cause more mischief and discomfort, you know where to find me. And now, to leave you two love birds alone once again.]]

::vaughn:: "You should have kept it there," he said plainly. Such an awkward word indeed, but it really did not bother him. Names were trivial, as were titles; both could change. Or at least, Vaughn believed they could. Part of the reason he would never give his full name was because one could find a way to trace him back to his estate and what happened in the past, he would forever leave in the past. He wanted to completely separate himself from his previous family and anything that was related to the Adeney name. "Surely your creativity can come up with something less, disappointing." While the name did not matter, he wondered what else she had the potential to come up with.
Kick most of their asses. "You really should learn to speak with more eloquence. Such harsh words do not suit such a soft face." He had begun to notice that she was distracting herself far too much from the road ahead of them. He may not know the way to the estate, but he was not oblivious to the fact that one actually had to be steering in order to get to their destination. "Unless we are going to a more secluded area where you and I can spend more quality time together." Yes, he said that in a very suggestive way. "I suggest you keep an eye on the road and ensure we are going in the intended direction." Vaughn was not opposed to taking a detour. Hew was not the one in a rush to get back; she was. Or, she supposedly was.

::vaughn:: Vladimir? Where on earth did she get that name from? "Vladimir," he repeated, smirking at the strange nickname. "Where on earth, or I should be asking in your imagination rather, did you recover such a name." Ironically his name did begin with a V, but there were 26 letters in the alphabet. No need to emphasize the one his name actually began with. "I should be in fact questioning your nickname more than the name itself." Vlad. What was horribly awkward word. Still, if that was what she came up with, then she could call him what she pleased. He would at least give her that liberty. "Is that truly the best you can do?"
She was not the first ambitious woman he had encountered, but she was the only one who had taken it so far to dress in the attire of a knight. "If only there were some way for you to clear your confusion as to which gender you would prefer to be, by completely transforming yourself into a man. It would be a shame to waste such beauty, but you seem to possess more personality traits of a man, than a woman."

::vaughn:: Vaughn watched the princess as she rushed to Alistair's side. Really? Really? What the hell was going on. What kind of game was Alistair playing. Vaughn just stood there, smirking, though he was not at all happy with the direction this mission had taken. He was even more displeased by Alistair commanding him. While Vaughn concealed all this displeasure, he certainly did not take well to commands. Especially from a man who had managed to let the woman go, and now killed the other men to save her, and now demand that she be restrained. Vaughn did not even care that his partner in crime was bleeding. Let him bleed.
He stood there for a moment, watching the two of them. "Perhaps we should switch tasks because whatever you are doing is clearly not in the job description and is working out rather well." She had rushed to his side, spoke his name in concern...what sort of kidnapper was Alistair anyway? He was getting too comfortable wit the princess and while Vaughn said it in what sounded like a mocking, and slightly perverted way, he was now having doubts about the entire exchange. He would tell Alistair that it had been doubled. Or not tell him and take the extra ransom for himself.
Vaughn went to one of the lifeless bodies, one that he knew had been carrying rope, and pulled it out from his pack. He then went to the princess and aggressively pulled her away from Alistair. He took her several steps away from the druid and began to bind her hands with the rope. "My Lady," he said, smirking at the woman and giving her a sinister smile. He took a little too long in binding her hands. In fact, he purposely drew it out so that his hands trailed over wrists and hands more than what was necessary. He also made sure to do this in front of Alistair, making it look rather obvious that Vaughn was getting some pleasure out of this. He looked at her, his eyes once again scanning her body. "Lets hope thats tight enough," he leaned in a bit too close, his face just inches away from her. "We would not want you to run away again now would we."

::vaughn:: Vaughn did not care whether she was telling the truth of if she was speaking a lie. All that mattered to him was that he had what he wanted, and that he got what he wanted. "Exactly. I will leave this up to your imagination. It is much better that way. Refer to me as whatever you like." Maybe it would be more interesting to prolong the revelation of his name, not that it mattered for any other reason. "We have already established how great my imagination can be. Now let us see the extent of yours."
Restrictions. Vaughn had broken free of every single one. His own bit of rebellion while growing up. Fortunately, one could not break restrictions if none were in place to begin with. "You take a great deal of pride in your clear resistance to authority and control." What made her stay, her love for her family. Even though she created clear defiance against them. "Where did you learn such traits." Such a strange woman. But a strange woman who was going to give him just the right amount of money, if not more.

::vaughn:: Was it up to her? Well, Vaughn could persuade her if he used the bit of leverage he had. But he was not going to. He was not that desperate to know. He would ask her and if she did not answer, well, it would not keep him up at night. Ah yes. He had not yet revealed his name. "I am debating. Perhaps I will continue to maintain the mystery surrounding it." He was just playing around with the idea. He had nothing to hide about his name. He had no issue with revealing his identity. Even if she went and told people a man of the name Vaughn was blackmailing her. It would be a rather good way of gaining a reputation throughout the kingdom.
Vaughn grinned, though she could yet again not see him. "Nineteen." Vaughn chuckled once again as she revealed his age. "And in nineteen years, you could not learn to control your attitude and hold your tongue as a proper noble woman should."

::vaughn:: The boy's stammering and obvious uneasiness was what fueled Vaughn. He was highly amused by his stuttering. He was after all a boy. Vaughn was not sure what more to expect from him. Yet, he would still bully him and instill some fear into the child. And the suddenly he changed his tone. As if a switch within him had been altered. This only further amused Vaughn and he began to chuckle. "A coin? That is all you offer me in exchange for your life? Surely you believe it to be worth more. Otherwise, you are just a sad, pathetic excuse for a future man."
Vaughn had no care towards the boy or anyone else for that matter. No one was innocent. No one deserved more than anyone else. It was his cynical viewpoint of the world that encouraged such dark thoughts in the knight's mind. "It does not seem like you are in position to be making demands boy." He pushed the knife a bit closer, though at an angle so that it would not cut his neck. He was not planning to physically hurt the child, unless he provoked him to the point of doing so. "What makes you so bold to presume that you have the authority to tell me what to do?"

::vaughn:: Vaughn chuckled. "Use it against you? I already have what I need to use against you. Anything else would be purely to satisfy my own curiosity." He would have to decide how much he wanted when he saw how much she had to offer. No more than he could carry of course. As he reminded himself, he was not doing this solely for the money, but for control. "But if you do not wish to answer, that is fine. I just assumed you enjoyed talking since you did so a great deal before." Teasing her could just never get old. He doubted it ever would, even in their future meetings to come.
When she finished getting dressed, he watched her pack away her things, and mount back on the horse. "Well now you look more like a noblewoman." It was rather obvious that she carried the grace of a noble, which was very necessary in her status. Others could be easily fooled by the way she looked. Of course, he would not have expected her to be a knight had he not seen it with his own eyes. He got back on the horse, and waited for her to continue to lead the way.

::vaughn:: Vaughn had payed no attention to what he knew was going to happen. He noticed from the corner of his eye that the princess had tried to run, but he knew she was not going to get far, which is why he did not join the chase after her. The men he hard 'hired' had already grabbed her as he heard the screams and signs of struggle. He was just focusing on sharpening his dagger. It was not until he felt one of the blades pulled from his sheath. He had not noticed quickly enough. All he saw was Alistair give him a look, and then run after the girl, following the action.
Vaughn rolled his eyes. Idiot. What does he plan on doing. He could hear the grunts and small sounds of pain as he heard the clanging of weapons and what he assumed was the men meeting their deaths. The first thought that entered Vaughn's mind, was not ager at Alistair for killing them, but the annoyance over having to go back out there to find four more idiots to pretend to hire. It was really a tedious task to do such a thing. But Vaughn could not easily ignore the fact that Alistair was going through all this trouble over saving the girl. Surely he had to have known that Vaughn was not actually going to let them kill her. Never the less, he slowly followed to see what was happening.
He did not rush, he took his time. And when he got there, most men were already on the ground and the princess was, surprise, safe. Vaughn was walking as he was only getting a view from a distance. All of them seemed to be dead, which is what made him take his time even more. But suddenly, his assumption had be disproved. One of the men who appeared to have been dead, was actually alive and very quickly had pulled a knife from the side of his boot, standing up and stabbing the first place he could: Alistair's shoulder. He forced the blade in and pulled it out again, clearly dissatisfied with not getting his mortal blow. When he began to aim for Alistair's head, this is when Vaughn moved a bit more quickly. In a very quick motion, he pulled his other blade out from the sheath strapped to his back and in another swift act, decapitated the man before he had the chance to kill Alistair.
Vaughn did not do this because he valued his friend's life. He did not see him as a friend; Vaughn saw no one as a friend. He did so because Alistair was more useful to Vaughn that the man he had killed. Alistair was someone he worked with, someone who was less easy to replace. His saving of Alistair's life was for strictly selfish purposes. Now whether anyone else saw it that way, Vaughn could not control. But he knew why he had saved the druid's life without a second thought or moments hesitation. He held the sword in his hand lowering it and lightly kicking the head to the side. He then looked at Alistair. "I would like my sword back now." His voice was amused, as a small smirk formed on his face. He did not feel bad for sending the men after the princess nor did he feel bad for just as easily ending a man's life. The only thing he did not like was the fact that she was causing them this much trouble.

::vaughn:: "And who would the other two men be. Brother and father?" He was curious as to know who else knew about this. If he was the first one who was not a family member to know about her secret. Clearly, there were very few who did know, but the more well kept this secret was, the better he would be payed for his discretion. He did not help her pick up her armor. He just stood there, watching her, seeing how long she herself was going to stand there in such a state of undress.
"If you need help putting on your regular clothes, do let me know. Since I displayed such skill at removing it. I am equally skilled in putting it on." Of course he knew she was not a child, and that she would not need that must assistance. But still. It was a fun thing to ask. Did she even have regular attire? She must have. If she did not plan to waltz into the castle in armor, then surely she did not plan to walk in only clad in her under garments.

::vaughn:: She was not talking that much, which Vaughn took as an indication that she was not in fact comfortable with what he was doing right now. Which was exactly what he wanted. What proper woman would feel comfortable with a man who was blackmailing her and making inappropriate jokes. Not that she displayed signs of what society expected a 'proper woman' to be like, but still. She was still a woman. When he finally unclasped the last bit, he threw the bits of armor to the ground and took a step back. His eyes scanned her body from top to bottom, looking as if he was inspecting something with great detail,
"All done," he said in proud voice, purposely sounding overly pleased with his accomplishment. He looked at her, with a devilish gleam. "What is my reward for my efforts?" He asked, meaning that in a way that suggested he was expecting something other than money.

::vaughn:: Did she just threaten to cut his tongue out? And for what, paying her a compliment? What kind of woman was this? What woman did not like compliments? Vaughn usually did not act so innocently towards someone at first, so this was not common but for her to speak in such a way was strange. He opened his eyes when she began to "help him". Vaughn was not at all pleased. She threatened him then, and she was now saying that she was going to take his horse.
Vaughn looked at her, his face expressionless and unreadable, his voice completely monotone. He was actually going to answer at least one of her questions, pertaining to her asking if he was better. "I did not ask you to help me. You should have minded your own business." He noticed her moving towards his horse, and was not about to let this strange woman steal his mode of transportation. He fought through the pain and in one quick, swift motion, stood up while he pulled out both swords from the sheaths strapped to his back, and positioned the points of each one so that they were just touching her throat, without actually penetrating it. "Take one more step," he said a mute tone. No expression, no reluctance, no trouble threatening a woman in such a way. He did not kill for no reason, but if she moved, he would have a reason and he would not hesitate in killing her.

::vaughn:: "Such things I have to see for myself," he said. He was obviously satisfied with having eventually gotten his way. Things would only get better, especially when they got to the estate. "After all, what would life be if we always listened to others. You of all people should know that there is no fun in that." It was clear she was rebellious, going against what her family wanted. What sort of noble family would want their daughter to be in such dangerous and risky situations? So it was obvious to assume that if she had listened to them, then she would not be where she is right now, and perhaps, not have experienced as much as she has in life.
To let someone control one's life was despicable to Vaughn. It was why he did not do well when it came to taking orders, even from his family. "It only deprives us of true adventure." He was not trying to be wise or share his own experiences with hers, since he was not exactly the sharing and caring kind of person. He was just talking while still removing her armor.

::vaughn:: Vaughn heard a soft, yet urgent voice suddenly rush towards him. He had not wanted anyone to find him in this position. If he were to die, then so be it. He did not need anyone to share concern for him, for he had little concern for himself. He slightly opened his eyes, giving the appearance that they were still closed, but in reality, he just wanted to see who this woman was who had expressed so much worry. He fully closed them again, as a combination of a smile and smirk formed on his expression. "I must have died, and entered heaven for I am in the presence of a red haired beauty."
Even in this worn state, he was not above flirtations and innuendos. Of course, that was how his conversations often started with those of the opposite sex. He kept his eyes closed when she began to remove his armor, doing it at a rather hurried pace. He may appear delirious, but in actuality, he was fully in his conscious mind. He was just relaxing, and what better way to do that than in the company of a beautiful woman.

::vaughn:: He noticed that she too was not looking away. Worked for him. Whatever she decided to do, he would stay with his decision to lock eyes on her. And that way, if his hands happened to trail away from the clasps....oh well. Alegra would probably have a bigger problem with that than Vaughn. While he was many things, he would not forcefully violate a woman, but the fact that she did not know that, would be something he could use to his advantage. As each plate was very slowly being removed, he could not help but comment.
"It was more fun imagining what was underneath. Now the mystery is gone," he said teasingly. It was not more or less than what he had expected. He enjoyed teasing nobles and royalty more than women of any of any other class, for they were often not used from crude comments unless they came from commoners and even then it was not often a women wandered amongst the lower class regions. It was why he enjoyed saying such things; because it was never expected of a noble to say such inappropriate things and Vaughn was a man who often used the element of surprise to his advantage.

::vaughn:: Vaughn was going to kill something or someone. He was not at all pleased, but this time he had a completely legitimate reason for his current mood: he had experienced having an arrow right through his shoulder. While no one had initially been aiming for him, it managed to hit right between the two bits of armor, hitting the skin part that was not protected. What were the chances? Apparently, a drunken archer had better aim than a sober one. A complete fluke, and unfortunately, Vaughn had to be the victim to it. He had been riding on his horse, trying to get away from all the 'excitement', but he was not doing too well.
He knew a serious wound when he saw one and through he had broken the arrow, pulled it out and tied something around it, he had lost and was still losing a lot of blood. He had very limited supplies and was trying to ride towards somewhere that would have better care. While he did not value his life, and did not fear death, he was not going to given the drunken moron the satisfaction of killing him with one simple injury. Surely this was mild enough for Vaughn to deal with. He just hoped it was not going to get infected, but again, he was no physician and did not possess enough medical knowledge to make that assessment.
He wiped small tears of sweat from forehead. Pulling his horse to a stop, he dismounted, finding it difficult to stand straight due to the faintness he was feeling from losing all of that blood. He was in the middle of a forest, still assuming he was in Camelot but also knowing that he had quite a distance to go before he was near any sort of civilization that would give him medical aid. So he managed to walk over to the nearest tree and leaned against it, sliding down so that he was seated upright, his legs straight out in front of him, and his head and back against the trunk. He closed his eyes, trying to remain conscious but this was proving to be quite the struggle. He would not let himself die in this ridiculous way, so he fought to stay away, even though his eyes were closed, as the blood soaked through the thin cloth he had wrapped around.

::vaughn::
Whether she admitted it, denied it, embraced it, or rejected it, there was one constant: Vaughn would always be amused. No matter what she said, or what she did, he was entertained by her. She had managed to capture his interest long enough for him to even bother asking her more than once for something. Of course, it helped that he was getting money out of this, but the bigger reward was having that control over her. "Why of course. I would be delighted to," he said, emphasizing the word. He moved a bit closer to her.
He was still looking at her while he began to all too slowly began to unclasp the necessary parts to remove her armor. He kept looking at her face, rather than what he was doing. He would feel it if need be, but he could see where to remove the necessary parts from the corner of his eye. Besides, he had done this many times before, it was nothing new. Of course, it was new for him to do it for a woman. Such a strange reversal, but perhaps that was what made it so funny.

::vaughn:: Vaughn was going to get maximum enjoyment out of this, with what was going to be minimal argument. She had come over to him without argument. As he previously recognized though, she had very little choice. "Now that you are closer and I can hear better, what is it exactly that you would like me to do?" He asked again, clearly hearing her the first time, and the second time. But he was going to make her say it for the third time, except with more detail. He had offered to spare her pride before but she tried to prove otherwise, and now he was going to make her say what she wanted him to do instead of just giving in to it and the moment being over so quickly.
He stood up straight, no longer leaning against the tree anymore but kept his hands folded across his chest, as he was waiting for her to continue on with what she was saying, or asking him rather.
