Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur chuckled as her fear and wished to immediately discourage any reluctance she may have out of worry of irritating him. "You once dealt with me when I was acting as a child," he reminded, wondering if was dangerous to go too far into the past. She had even used such words. That he didn't need to be told to think of someone else, he was not a child. Fond memories. Bittersweet memories. Painful memories. "I doubt any number of questions will compare to that," he teased, focusing on the playfulness of the comment, not in delving too far into the past. But as he had already established, his way of governing Camelot was done very much in mind of Guinevère's words.
Whether she realized all the counsel she had given him or not. He listened intently to her explain why she had come. Looking for work. Merlin had told him that her husband had passed and he was truly saddened by the news. Part of him wanted to go to her to see how she was . . . but he knew he couldn't. It would not serve as any purpose other than pain her further. "You come at a good time then," he told her. "There are celebrations in only a few days time. The people will be looking for a good seamstress, and you were after all, one of Camelot's finest." A compliment on her skills. That was what he needed to focus on. At least he could say it without . . . implications of past intimacies and emotional ties.
He looked at her as she said that it felt like home. "It's doors are always open to you, Guinevère." He still remembered the day she left. He could not even say goodbye the way he wished. He had been married. And . . . it would have been incredibly inappropriate. It would not have been fair. But he had felt it. The moment she stepped out fo the city . . . he had felt it. Grateful for the next question, Arthur slightly shook his head and averted his gaze to nothing in particular in front of him . . . not even having realized he'd been staring at her. Fearing, what expression she drew from him . . . that she always seemed to draw from him.
"Still as useless as ever," he joked, making it clear that his words were that of humour. It had take some time for Arthur to adjust to Merlin having magic . . . but recognizing that the kingdom -- and his own life -- had been saved by magic, he could not deny its significance. He had lifted the ban, and elevated Merlin's position. With that said, he still served Arthur as a servant in some ways. "He is well," Arthur answered more seriously. His children were incredibly fond of him and vice versa. They considered him to be an uncle, as they did other select knights. "It was he who mentioned you were returning to the city," he explained. "He wouldn't shut up about it in his excitement," Arthur said in playful teasing towards his brother of heart. "How is Elyan?" Arthur had never formally met her brother, though Merlin had made mention of him a couple of times.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Her response made him smile with amusement, noticing the colour that touched her cheeks and . . . it reminded him. Of how he loved doing that to her. Flattering her. And seeing it now, made him realize that he still liked doing that. He knew wasn't fair of him, but how could he not admit that seeing her once more . . . talking to her, made his heart beat in ways that he had not felt in so long. He often wondered if Elena had known, that he loved another. Not letting the thoughts dampen the mood, he gave a nod to her friend and turned to wait for Guinevère.
She missed . . . the city. I missed you he longed to say. But the words remained unspoken. Suppressed, just like so much had. "There is indeed a great deal to catch up on," he agreed. Arthur kept his hands behind his back, a casual stance as he began to walk but . . . one that he did with reason. For he feared that instinct would take over, and he would reach out to touch her. Whether it was a gentle touch on the arm, or . . . a caress on the cheek. He suddenly felt like he was not in control of his actions so he felt it best to keep his hands interlocked behind him. "What brings you back to the city?" He asked with a continued smile, wondering what drew her presence here, not that he had any complaints about it.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT She questioned his words, implying for further explanation. He remembered once telling his father that they were as much the people's servants as the people were theirs. Uther had . . . strongly disagreed. But Arthur still to this day believed it. Ironically, it had been Guinevère who led him on the path to believe that. To humble himself. She had done so much for him, shaped him to be a future king at the time, even if she had not been with him every step of the way to his kingship.
"Indeed," he confirmed. "It is important, to see how they fare first hand. Rather than just hear reports of it." To be one with them. To show that a king was not, unreachable in his guarded castle. Hearing that she was well kept the smile upon his lips, adding that the city had changed under his rule and hadn't changed at the same time. "I hope that is a good thing," he teased, knowing he couldn't go deeper into the words. He refused to let discomfort linger between them, though speaking to her, hearing her . . . brought back so much nostalgia from the years they were younger.
"I am, well," he answered, using the same words. He wanted to carry on talking to her, to elaborate, to just . . . spend time with her, even if it was just as old friends, but he was far too mindful of the eyes upon him. Guinevère's friend sneaking glances while trying not to be nosy. "If I am not intruding, would you care to walk through the marketplace in my company?" He would not force his presence upon her, all too aware of their past, though he found his heart beating heavier in his chest, hoping she'd accept. Years of learning to keep his emotions in check, to keep himself composed, was a fortune in a moment like this.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Seeing her in all her beauty . . . well, it never failed to take his breath away. He remembered it well. When they had passed in the halls, when he'd stolen a glance -- or two -- where he good. And now, perhaps the absence of seeing her in all these years only added to it. For she did indeed look beautiful, and Arthur genuinely smiled back at her. The expression slightly faltered when she corrected herself, using his title and bowing before him. It was always unsettling to see her do that, but . . . he also knew that this was the way things were. No matter how much he had wished to change them.
He took a couple of steps towards her, his hands casually linked together behind him. He leaned towards her, though there was still a significant distance between them so that it did not look too intimate. "There's no need for that," he said almost teasingly, words he had once said to her a long time ago. It had been so many years and still . . . he remembered every conversation he'd ever had with her. But, he would continue to add another reason as to why it was not necessary. "I am among the people today." So formalities were not necessary as he strolled the marketplace. Besides, he always preferred Arthur from her. "How are you, Guinevère?" He asked, knowing the question entailed so much and yet . . . he wanted to know.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur felt the emotion building within him. But, he knew he could not let it all show right now. He could see Guinevère's eyes moisten with tears and . . . he needed to remain strong. The inevitable mourning for her and their baby would come later. Right now, he needed to reassure her. To, help make those difficult decisions that neither of them wanted to make. Or even wanted at all. Yet, all he could think about was how he failed everyone. Family was the most important thing to him in all this world, and yet . . . he was losing them. One by one. He'd failed in protecting Morgana. He'd failed his father every day he returned without her. And now, he failed in being there for Guinevère, and despite the fact that their baby was not born yet . . . already failed, in being a father.
"I wish for that too," he breathed, moving forward so his forehead rested against hers. "More than anything, I wish for that." But he knew, it was better to lose them both on their terms, and not his fathers. For, he feared what it would mean if his father was to find out. "Guinevère . . . " His voice held the emotion he was attempting to suppress. "I'm so sorry," he said again, slightly shaking his head, for these words would truly hurt them both. And that was the last thing he ever wanted to do. "It's not safe for you here anymore." She needed to leave. And he only had limited time to help relocate her. He had the couple days here and then, was unsure how long he would be gone for again. Their time was very limited. Far more than he wanted.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT King Arthur Pendragon was a father of 3: Alymere, Galahad and Mirela. As arranged by their fathers, he married Princess Elena of Gawant and they started a life together. After several miscarriages and heartache, she finally gave birth to their first child, son and heir to the throne of Camelot. Three years later another son would follow, and two years after that, a daughter.
It would be the last child Elena brought into this world, for she was a victim of Morgana's wrath, and died under her hand. The loss of Elena was heartbreaking to not only the kingdom . . . but to Arthur and his children. He has not married since the five years she passed away, raising the children on his own, but now, suggestions of finding another queen are upon him. He personally has no interest but at the same time . . . does not wish for his children to be without a mother, and be left orphaned should something happen to him. Thus . . . his story continues . . .
------------------------------
Arthur hated his birthday. To many, it was a celebration of one's birth; rejoicing in another year of achievements. To Arthur . . . it only reminded him of his parents' deaths. His mother died on the day he was born -- because of him. And his father was killed on Arthur's birthday as well. He found no cause of celebration on such a day. Only painful memories of being the one responsible for both his mother and father's death. But alas, his close friends, the council, and most importantly, his children wished to celebrate the upcoming date. Because Arthur would be turning 40. His brothers he could deny. The council he could deny. But when it came to his children . . . that was what made it impossible to say no to.
The three of them were overjoyed and excited for the celebration and grand feast as well as festivities that would follow. Friends and allies from neighbouring kingdoms were even invited. It was getting to be too much. It was going over board, but Arthur simply saw the excitement in his children's face, and did not wish to dampen that. Without a mother, he knew he had much to make up for. But as his children were currently with their tutors, Arthur decided to take a breather from the castle. His tasks as king were never ending and it seldom gave Arthur a moment to himself. But right now, he felt the need to visit the market.
To check on whether all was well, finding the importance of having a presence among not only those within the castle, but among the people of Camelot. He gave nods and smiles to those who acknowledged him, though with the business, he was glad for being able to blend in some. Truth be told, there was another reason he was to market today of all days. He had heard word that Guinevère had returned to the city and . . . well, it had been quite some time since he saw her. Even more since he'd actually spoken to her. The woman that he thought he could one day marry . . . only to be separated from her due to politics.
There was indeed a great deal of history between them and he knew, though it was never fair to Elena, that a part of him would always love her. But today, he wished to see if the rumours were true . . . and he didn't have to wait long to find out. He would recognize her anywhere, despite the amount of time that had passed. He paused, seeing her from behind as she was conversing with a vendor. Watching her for a few moments, he somehow summonsed the . . . courage -- if that was even the right word -- to approach her. When he was standing close enough to her, he finally spoke. "Guinevère." A name he had not said in a long time. A very, very long time.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur's heart swelled with pride upon hearing her believe that he would make a good father. He had not often thought of fatherhood; his priority had always been being a king. But . . . Guinevère had changed that. Ever since falling in love, he had thought more and more of being a husband. Being a father. And suddenly, thoughts of being a king had been secondary. Truth was, he'd never thought he would fall in love. He'd always thought that he'd marry for the good of the kingdom. But now, the thoughts remained bitter sweet. To be a father and yet . . . to fear being one.
He took a slow breath, looking at her, trying to figure out what the best course of action was. But first, he had to ask her. "What do you want to do, Guinevère?" He asked her softly, wondering what her own thoughts were about how this should be handled. "I know . . . that I can not claim him." Saying the words made his heart ache more than he thought possible. But, it was the truth. He could not publicly claim their child. "It's not safe for either of you." Because of his father. Because of the wrath he feared the king would inflict on Guinevère and their baby. Yet, he did not want to reject Guinevère of their baby either. He just knew . . . that because of him, they were unsafe.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur smiled at her words, the thought of it further building his eagerness and anticipation for what was to come. "I would not stop you from any of your desires," he told her, the words in context of what they were currently doing. Once he finished the last lace, he slowly pulled down the sleeves so that it pooled at her feet, kissing along her neck and feeling the warmth of her skin. "For I am yours," he said between kisses. Tonight, and every night. They would return to a kingdom soon enough.
They would be thrust into a lifestyle they had lived in the absence of. But in every meaning of the word, he belonged to Guinevère, and he never wanted her to have any doubt in that The feeling of her fingers on his trousers only thickened his growing arousal for his wife and he brought his lips to hers, kissing her deeply before breathing against them in words. "Tell me all that you want tonight." She wanted to undress him she said, and he would wait for her to do so before letting his own desires distract her from the task. But . . . whatever else she wanted, whatever else she desired, he would grant her everything. n

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur listened as Guinevère spoke of where Amaren was, and that Helios would die for their son. "Then he will die," Arthur stated bluntly, having no issue with that. Helios and forced a woman to wed him and claimed a son that was not his -- even if he didn't know it.
"Both you and Amaren will be free of his wrath," Arthur said confidently. "I will do whatever it takes to make it so." He didn't care how closely Helios was watching. Arthur was not going to let any harm come to them now that he was once again of this world. Was this not the purpose of his return? To save his family? To save the kingdom?

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Overwhelmed. Yes. That was the perfect way to describe it. For he too felt . . . overwhelmed. The conflict of joy over the news and crippling fear over the reality of the circumstances. "Overwhelmed," he answered, using the same word she had for it was exactly how he felt too. He listened to her tell him that if things were different, she'd be so happy. So would he. And that she wanted to be a mother to the baby. He moved to wrap his arms around her, holding her within them. Being as close to their unborn child as he could be in this moment.
"And I want to be a father." Regardless of what happened, he wanted . . . needed her to know that. But he feared what that would cost Guinevère and the baby. The way it would jeapordize them. "You're going to be a wonderful mother, Guinevère," he told her, knowing that she would. Having no doubts about that. "Despite, everything . . . there is an undeniable joy to be felt, over the idea that together, our love created a life." He was trying to focus on that. On the good. He wanted to somehow bring Guinevère's mind to ease and in the process, trying to calm the storm in his of what was going to happen. Of what to do. Of how best to protect the woman he loved and their baby.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur couldn't help the smile of amusement that played on his lips when she asked how he wore that. "You get used to it," he assured her. He still remembered the first time he had ever put on chainmail. He had been struggling to keep his balance, not wanting to disappoint his father. It had left his body sore and aching for days after, until he got used to it. And now . . . despite not having worn it for years, it still felt . . . normal. Such thoughts quickly fled from his mind as Guinevère proceeded to remove the rest of his clothing, moving him back until he felt the table behind him. She asked him how he got a scar. One of the many his body was marked with. He let out a slow breath, knowing, that he was not going to keep anything from her any more.
"A griffin," he began to say. "Attacked the city. I got it when fighting the creature." He watched her through heavy lids, glossed over with the building desire as he felt her lips touch the marked skin. Afterwards, she inquired about another. "A joust," he breathed, finding it more and more difficult to form words with the way her tongue moved along his skin. "It was an assassin." He wasn't even realizing the magnitude of his words, but rather, just answering her question while basking in her touch.
"Posing as a knight." Arthur vaguely remembered the incident, memory hazed from what she was doing to him. "He lost," Arthur added, almost as a joke though it held truth. His hand went to the back of her head, weaving his fingers through her hair as he leaned forward, pressing his lips against her cheek and lowering his head to her neck, breathing her name against his skin. His free hand went to the laces on the back of her dress and starting pulling them out, one by one.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur wrapped his arms around her, returning the kiss. Letting the warmth of her touch soak within him. With all the anger he had been feeling, this was perhaps the only thing that gave him a sense of calm. When she eased out of it, she told him that Helios was planning to take their son. "I know," he told her quietly. "We have an army outside, but in light of this news, have pushed the attack to tonight."
Meaning, the army was not as big as he hoped it would be. "You must get Amaren. Gwaine and Percival will get you out while we distract Helios' men from the front. Our forces will divide and we will infiltrate the estate from the back entrance." It was as best of a plan as they had. Besides, the men were trained combatants, unlike Helios'. Surely, they stood a chance . . . so long as they had the element of surprise. "Where is he?" Arthur asked, referring to their son, hoping he was safe.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur watched her leave and sunk onto the stool in his tent. He thought over what Guinevère had just told him and . . . truth was, he hadn't the faintest idea what to do. Marrying her would only anger his father. Sending her somewhere safe would mean he couldn't be a part of the baby's life. He knew that right now, the primary concern was the king, and his reaction should he ever find out. His father wouldn't even let him rescue a servant. He would be beyond angry if he found out what had happened. And . . . would do whatever it took to remove any legitimacy that his child would have to the throne. Not that Arthur even cared about that right now. It wasn't until he heard a voice that he was forced to exit the tent. And the rest of the day went on as if he was in a daze.
As predicted, he had to plead with his father to let him stay for a couple of days. His father was far from pleased with Arthur's request, but he tries to reason with him, saying that there was much here that needed to be done. That he needed to train his men so that they were ready to find Morgana and fight off any foes. Eventually, his father agreed, though was not happy. Arthur knew he had to tread carefully. He was not of a rational mind when it came to his missing ward. Finally, Arthur was able to make his leave, knowing it was getting late. He did as requested, telling Merlin to take the night off. His friend was concerned, but Arthur assured him all was well. When he got into his room, he saw Guinevère sitting as his desk. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting," he aplogized, noticing she was holding the cape in her hand . . . wondering what she was thinking about. "How, are you feeling?" He asked as he approached her.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur close his eyes as she kissed him, basking in her sensual touch. One that lingered with her hands as oppose to lips as she moved behind him. He turned his head, longing to see her. The last person who had undressed him from his armour had been a servant. Years go. This was far better.
Despite the reminder it held of what he had kept from her; of the way their lives would drastically change. He tried not to think on it, and Guinevère was doing an excellent job of distracting him. Of keeping the subject from lingering and instead . . . enjoying the time they had together. For Arthur wanted nothing more than that. She moved back to stand in front of him and asked how to get it off. "You just have to lift it off," he told her softly, starting to raise his arms. "It's heavy," he warned with a faint smile. The weight of it far more than just mere wounds.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT The day was soon upon them. Arthur would be going in to Helios' estate to free those he held prisoner in just a matter of days. The army continued to build, and they would have more numbers to over power Helios and his men. They had only one chance to do this, so they needed to do it right. Before he had left, Arthur had told Gwaine and Percival to meet him in the allotted spot. When they came, Arthur could immediately tell something was wrong. They explained that Helios was planning to take Amaren in a few days time and . . . it would be too late. Arthur needed more time than that, but it seemed time was not something they had the luxury of. Which meant, they would need an advantage. He needed a way in; to attack from the inside and then make their way out. They had some numbers but could not wait for the others to join them. The risk was too great.
He dressed in the same clothing he had previously and told Gwaine and Percival to take him to Guinevère. They had to approach cautiously, carefully. While Arthur had taken in the surroundings before, this time, he took in every single detail. Determining weak spots, less guarded corners, points of entry they could use. The plan was formulating in his mind and once they were inside, Arthur then focused on the interior. Once they arrived at the door, Percival knocked on it a couple of times before stepping inside and eyeing around to make sure Guinevère was alone. Arthur followed him in, before the door was closed behind them and Gwaine and Percival kept watch. "Guinevère," he greeted, pulling the cloth down as he approached her. Looking around, he didn't see Amaren, and he knew he only had a few moments to explain. But still, he just . . . needed a moment to look over her. To make sure she was alright -- as alright as could be under such circumstances.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur had not wanted to leave. He wanted to stay. He needed to get Guinevère and Amaren out of this place . . . but there was no choice right now. He told Gwaine and Percival that he would come in five days times with an army. And gave them the location of where to meet him. The two men nodded, wishing him luck as they embraced before departing. There was some comfort found in the two men being there to keep an eye on Guinevère . . . but that still did not aid the fact that his son was being raised by another man. A cruel one. And that Guinevère had the title of his wife. No. He needed to put an end to this madness.
Part of him wanted to go to the city to confront -- and kill -- Morgana. But he knew that was unwise. He thought of what Percival and Guinevère had said to him. He would not let Helios win by dying again. He save his family from the warlord's clutches and to do so . . . he needed an army. Arthur had to be incredibly careful about how he went about this. Leon had given him some aid in explaining who was loyal yet forced to serve the crown. Leon had told those men to meet him in two days time at a designated location. It seemed, Leon had planned things out . . . and it just made Arthur miss his brother of heart even more. And mourn his death. This was what he had been planning for the years Arthur was dead. For soon enough, a group of men came where Leon had told him they would be. Only, instead of being met by Leon, they saw their once king.
Shock burst throughout the crowd as Arthur explained as concisely as he would what had happened. He asked the men if there were any others, and they explained that some had fled the city and some were still trapped within the castle, feigning loyalty to a false queen. Arthur sent men out to where the others were scattered throughout the kingdom -- knowing he could not go yet as he couldn't risk discovery. His patience however, was thin. For each moment that passed, was another moment his wife and son were with another man. It was killing him, and whatever rationality he had left that was keeping him focused on the strategic plan . . . was starting to fade in favour of his growing rage.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur could see that there was slight tension . . . or perhaps just uncertainty between Guinevère and Elyan. So when Elyan stepped forward and spoke Morgana name, stating that he thought Guienvere was her maid, Arthur instinctively stepped closer and slightly in front of Guinevère, almost in a protective stance. He cared for Elyan as a brother, yet . . . the mention of Morgana to Guinevère was not an easy name.
Guinevère however seemed able to hand it -- not that Arthur doubted she could -- and even told them that they would be leaving together after this. "Perhaps we should all get some rest." Let things sink in. "Tomorrow will be a long day, and we will need our strength for it." For dealing with the confrontation. With the events that would follow. He wanted to ask Guinevère if she would like a private moment with her brother, looking at her to see what she would say, for Arthur would easily provide that with her, despite not wanting to leave her side. Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur nodded in response to her suggestion of coming to his chambers. He then suddenly realized, he was going to have to practically beg his father to let him stay for the next couple of days. With the king so determined to find Morgana, he was sending Arthur out as often as possible but now . . . with the thought of a baby . . . Arthur's priorities were shifting. It was no longer about just finding Morgana. He now needed to protect the woman he loved and their unborn child.
Yet, the two were in direct conflict of one another. If he was out finding Morgana, he could not protect Guinevère or the baby. And if he was protecting Guinevère and the baby, he could not find Morgana. Arthur felt his head spin with the magnitude of the situation, her question pulling him out of his thoughts as she asked if he was alright.
Truth was, he wasn't. He was afraid. Terrified. Yet he knew that would be entirely unhelpful right now. He gently caressed her cheek with his thumb, lowering his head to look intently into her eyes. "We'll be fine Guinevère," he assured her. He would make sure of that. He put his hand on her stomach. "The three of us will be fine." Perhaps he was trying to convince himself as much as he was her, and hoped his words at least suggested he meant them. Because . . . there was no other option. The three of them had to be fine.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur couldn't help but chuckle as Guinevère spoke of how that had been horrid and asked whether he thought Uther believed him or not. Arthur knew there was no reason to lie -- not that he ever thought to lie to Guinevère. He wanted his marriage to be an honest one. "No," he answered but with a playfulness in his voice, for he wasn't phased about it. "But, nor will he question it," Arthur assured her. "So long as I am not neglecting my duties as a prince, he has no issue with me upholding my duties as a husband." Another tease in his voice, to lessen the weight of his words. For on the inside, he knew his father was strict when it came to Arthur fulfilling his role.
He did not believe that two should marry for love and that whatever romance came with it, needed to be placed second for the kingdom always came first. What Arthur had not told his father though, was that the two went hand in hand. to have a thriving kingdom, one had to have a happy ruler upon the throne. It made Arthur wonder -- but never dare bring to voice -- how different his father would have been had Arthur's mother lived. "Don't worry, Guinevère," Arthur assured her. "We may as well enjoy what stolen moments in the day we can. Do not worry about the king's mind." Arthur wasn't worried about his father, not in this matter.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Guinevere was assuring him she loved him; apologizing. Arthur said nothing not because he didn't believe her, but because he knew that this was the damage his family had caused. That falling in love with Guinevère, had put her in this position. Had made her feel Morgana's wrath and in his death, he could no longer protect her. Well, now he was determined to change that. He was not going to waste a moment. She told him he was outnumbered yet his mind did not care. All he wanted was to see his son and kill the man who had claimed his family. Who had trapped them in such a way. He felt the anger continuing to build within him, unable to just . . . walk away. Even Gwaine attempted to convince him by saying they'd try to smuggle her out.
But silence followed his words for Arthur could not find the right ones to say. It wasn't until he heard Helios' demanding voice that Arthur began to pull the sword from it's sheath, only stopping midway when he heard Amaren's voice follow. An unfamiliar feeling washed over him . . . one that he assumed came with being a father, even though technically, he had not known the feeling at all. But to hear his son's voice. To hear him call for his mother. Arthur could feel his heart breaking. He longed to see him. To hold him. To . . . be a father to him.
He was about to pull out the rest of the sword when he felt Percival's hand on his wrist to stop him. "He is not his son," Arthur stated as if to explain his anger towards Helios. "And I will kill him for what he's done." The more he heard his voice . . . the more he was ready to go down and charge at him. Percival looked at Arthur, as if trying to reason that his was not the way. Yet he only needed to speak the words that followed.
"Do not let Leon's death be in vain." Those exact words had been what Leon said to him as he died. Arthur felt his body tremble with conflict. He knew that Leon did not die for Arthur to exact revenge. He had died so that Arthur could help restore the kingdom and save his family in the process. Putting his sword back into it's sheath, Arthur looked at Guinevère once more. "I will end this," he told her, strong determination in his voice. He was going to put an end to all of this.
And . . . he was going to kill Morgana for what she had done. "We need to go. Now!" Arthur moved forward to give Guinevère one last emotionally driven kiss, as if a silent promise that he would return and free her and Amaren from this place. Pulling out of the embrace, he whispered "I love you" before covering his face once more and following Gwaine and Percival out the doors.
