Elyan could only smile at Merlin's words. They were just proof of the extent of Merlin's friendship and loyalty to those around him and those he cared about. "I don't need any other award than that." He grinned at him. "You are a very loyal friend to Arthur and he should count himself lucky." For friendship and unwavering allegiance like that did not come cheap. It had to be earned. Elyan truly felt honoured to be considered Merlin's friend "But you are never 'just a servant,'" he continued, referring to Merlin's previous words. If they were true, then Elyan would be 'just a blacksmith,' for they were equals in every sense of the word really. "You are most definitely one of us, with an invisible Sir before your name," he chuckled. "You're a knight in disguise."
His father's death was a topic he rarely spoke about, even with Gwen. Whether that was right or wrong of him, he did not know. "Is that why you never came back to Camelot?" He creased his eyebrows and looked at Merlin as he continued his question, before pausing for a moment in thought. "Well I guess, at first yes." He hadn't intended to stay away from Camelot and travel for four years. Things had just...escalated. "But then I think I got a bit carried away, before I went to Escetia for a little while and then got captured." The vivid memory of that experience; getting captured, reuniting with his sister, and eventually escaping, were engraved into his mind; but not in a bad way. "The rest is history." That was when he had first met Merlin. Not exactly a very conventional meeting.
He awaited Merlin's answer and didn't fail to hear the hesitancy in his voice. He'd already thought Merlin had an unusually large weight set on his shoulders, but the way he answered further clarified that thought. "Just...many things, that's all..." Although he acted like it sometimes, Merlin was not some happy-go-lucky boy. Elyan wasn't ignorant enough to think otherwise. Merlin was a man hardened by the trials of life, just like everyone else, maybe even more so. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to pry." He didn't know a great deal about Merlin, but he could tell that he had lost someone too. "But what about your father? I've never heard you speak of him." His curiosity hadn't gotten the better of him.

Elyan listened intently to the other knights' justification about how rules keep everything in order. He sighed and merely nodded choosing not to say anything. There was really no point of them continuing to argue about it. They just had very different views on this particular subject. It isn't like they're the first people in history to ever disagree over something. They just had to be civilised about it and act like the adults they were supposed to be. He decided the best thing was to just agree to disagree; otherwise they could stand there quarrelling for the rest of the day without Elyan actually learning anything from the experienced knight. That was the reason he was even here after all and by the gods he was not going to have woken up early and come all the way out here to just be chastised by some knight who followed all of the rules.
"Yes, I do." Judging by the raised eyebrow directed at him and the very unamused face, he came to the conclusion that he probably shouldn't have laughed lightly before. It had been another failed attempt at lightening up the situation. It was also probably a sign that this knight was more of the serious kind than the joking kind; something a smarter man would have realised the first time Elyan attempted to joke with the knight unsuccessfully. "Does that surprise you?" Thinking back on the entirety of the conversation a truthful answer would have to be no, it didn't surprise him. "Well I guess in all honesty, not anymore," he replied truthfully.
"Look, we could bicker about this all day or you could continue with why you brought me out here in the first place." He decided to be forward about it; it was after all more direct. He stood there expectantly, awaiting Iwan's response to his forwardness. That wasn't breaking the rules after all, was it? He had intended to make a good impression on this knight; that had been his plan. But apparently it wasn't going well. Hardly any of Elyan's plans ever went well; it was like he was a trouble magnet. He decided there was no use thinking so negatively. After all they still had the day ahead of them; maybe Elyan could change his mind...hopefully.

Elyan couldn't help but laugh at Merlin's 'triumphant' face. But he was fairly certain that Merlin was in fact right. Most of the things Elyan has seen Arthur throw at or around Merlin's head seemed pretty solid. Unless Merlin constantly got concussions, he had to have amazing reflexes to dodge all of those objects every single time. It was actually rather commendable. "You know what Merlin, I think you deserve a medal, or some kind of award after putting up with Arthur so long," he said teasingly. He was quite sure Merlin himself wouldn't disapprove of finally gaining some credit for everything he does. He didn't know if he could take 'mucking out the stables' half the times Merlin has.
Elyan didn't really enjoy dwelling on the past. He knew the only thing that would accomplish is causing pain, but sometimes, like everybody else, he just couldn't help but think 'what if'. So after hearing Merlin's question he paused for a few moments in thought. "Umm," he paused again. "I'd like to say I would never have left my father or Gwen all those years ago." It had been a difficult decision to leave. "But I cannot bring myself to regret everything I experienced." It had been absolutely incredible, the places he went, the people he met and of course all the trouble he got himself into. He couldn't tell Merlin that if he could go back he'd change that decision, because Elyan wasn't sure he really would.
"Sometimes, though, I feel like if I had never left I could have prevented my father's death somehow. It haunts me to think that it was my fault." Despite all of the conflict between himself and his father, he loved him dearly and when he found out about his death it hit him hard. He had ran harder and faster than before, and far away from Camelot without thinking about going back to take care of Gwen. He knew now how selfish that had been. So maybe that's what he would change, he would have taken better care of his sister. He remained pensive for a few moments before speaking. "If I could go back, I would be a better brother to Guinevère; she deserved better." A brother who would care for her properly. "What about you? What would you change if you could?"

“Then I shall arrange it when I am recovered from the birth.” Elyan grinned at Caitrin. He was really looking forward to meeting the little one. It was a privilege in itself and he had said as much. It seemed all official now which only increased his excitement. He really couldn't wait. He had a vague image of what the baby might look like in his head, but he was sure the real thing would be so much better. Elyan didn't have a lot of experience with children, and he had to learn fast seeing as his sister was now married. She would probably be with child soon, since Camelot of course needed an heir. But he also knew Gwen always wanted to start a family. Like he had mentioned before, he was certain Gwen's children and Caitrin's children would become close friends.
The thought of becoming an uncle wasn't quite as daunting as he would have previously thought. It actually brought him considerable joy to think of a beautiful niece like her mother, or a strong courageous nephew like his father. He would attempt to spoil the child of course. Attempt, because he was sure the child's parents would take care of that themselves. "Oh I'm sure they'll share the limelight." He chuckled at the thought of his niece or nephew in court. "Even if they are the heir to the throne, your child would have the upper hand with that fiery hair of yours." He raised an eyebrow and laughed. "So I'm pretty sure they'll be on equal playing fields." He was already looking forward to it. What a sight that would be.
Elyan had been enjoying the Lady Caitrin's company immensely. Despite only meeting her today he already felt like they were already friends. It caused a smile to appear on his face. Which is why he would hate to lose her company so soon. However she was pregnant and so probably needed rest, despite her brushing away his apology. “Do you mind if we take some air?” He began shaking his head when she continued. "It's alright; I think I could use a little air as well. It does get quite stifling in these corridors." He smiled at her. There were many other knights on patrol here, so he would not be missed. It wasn't as if the castle would get attacked just because Elyan stepped out for a little while...he hoped. "Would you like to go to the royal gardens?" He knew it to be a very relaxing place, especially for the purpose of just getting some air.

Elyan was beginning to think that the possibility of actually becoming friends with this knight might be getting smaller and smaller with every disapproving looking he was shooting Elyan's way. He'd already considered this tutorial to be a bit of a chore, but he had of course been grateful. But his patience was wearing thin every time Sir Iwan spoke in a condescending tone, or patronised him. In any case, Elyan was generally not an extremely patient person which had gotten him into trouble in the past and he had no doubt it would continue to get him into trouble in the future. However he had to try and make an effort, it’s what Gwen would probably tell him.
In any case, this man was going to be helping him today, so it would do nobody any good if they started off on the wrong foot. However after his little outburst there were slim chances of that even happening. He guessed if they really couldn't be friends the least he could do is be a civilised adult. He chuckled inwardly at the thought. He was sure even his humble and sensible sister would laugh at that proposal. As much as Elyan had tried to be responsible and civilised over the years, it never worked out so for a long time he had just stopped trying. Now he was still trying to get to grips with the prospect of the amount of responsibility being a knight holds. Something he would most definitely not tell Sir Iwan.
"If that were the case we wouldn't need rules in the first place, would we?" The smile he caught on Iwan's lips made Elyan think the other knight probably thought he was being smart with his question. He rolled his eyes slightly while thinking of an appropriate response. He was fairly certain saying 'I think you're a bit of a prat' as Merlin would say, was a less than appropriate response. "Not every rule is that important, surely," he began. There must be a few ridiculous ones that found their way in, but nobody actually follows them. "I'm sure you don't follow each and every one," he said with a disbelieving chuckle.

"ouch...now that stung" Elyan chuckled at Merlin. He knew Merlin was manly underneath, just not in the typical sense of the word. To him, Merlin was a more of a lover than a fighter. But who knows he could be wrong about him, he could be a warrior in disguise. The thought amused him. He probably didn't have the muscles for it, the man was too skinny for his own good. But he probably had a lot of strength, maybe not totally physically, but in his heart. Merlin had proved that on many occasions, and Elyan wasn't stupid enough to dismiss it, or underappreciate it. He was more than glad to have Merlin's friendship whether he was a manly knight or a loyal servant.
All the knights had skill, and Elyan was honoured to be a part of the knighthood of Camelot; the most noble knights he had ever encountered. "Perhaps I need to work on my swordcraft a little more" Elyan laughed. "The maybe i'll be more manly" He grinned at Merlin. "Oh I'm sure you're manly enough already, my friend." He said punching him lightly on the arm playfully. "I mean you're Arthur's manservant, you probably have to have a heck of a lot of strength," he said laughing, teasing Arthur once more. It seemed he was quite good at that, though maybe not quite so good in front of Arthur himself.
Elyan was beginning to look on the bright side of what had happened; thanks to Merlin of course. "You could learn from it?" Elyan listened intently as Merlin continued. He chuckled slightly when he mentioned how it might help him in the military sense. He'd certainly never step foot in any place that looked even the least bit suspicious. One look at a weird looking piece of cloth tied to a tree and he'd be running for the hills, not to mention he'd probably never drink straight out of a well again. "I think that it will make you stronger than before - not that you could get any stronger" He chuckled. "I'll take that as a compliment." As Merlin continued, Elyan smiled at his words. "My thoughts exactly, although it had better be a darn good reason," he said laughing. "Well, we can't change the past anyway," so there was no reason to dwell on it. "No matter how much we want to."

“You’re going to be the most eligible bachelor in Camelot, you have to start somewhere.” Elyan chuckled. He'd rejoice on the day Gwen finally married Arthur but all of this 'most eligible bachelor' stuff might put a damper on things. What Gwaine was saying was true, Elyan wasn't stupid enough to deny it, but at least he could enjoy the surely limited amount of time before women who normally wouldn't look at him twice, come flocking at his door. He could practice his charming skills then. He was still a man though and he did like to flirt with a few women now and then, obviously not quite like Gwaine. For now he'd just sit with his friend and enjoy a nice cold tankard of ale. He just wasn't very sure Gwaine would totally agree with that. He was slyer than he looked and to be totally honest he already looked pretty sly indeed. Quite frankly that unnerved Elyan slightly, so he'd keep an eye out.
“Well I’m sure we could settle any disputes we have tomorrow on the field that aren’t sorted tonight.” He laughed at Gwaine's words. Elyan knew how skilled Gwaine was on the training field, but he had been a blacksmith's son and now an actual blacksmith so he had been around weapons all his life. So, basically he was pretty skilled too. "Oh we'll see about that, my friend." He said in a challenging tone. He was feeling very challenging tonight. If he lost after everything he'd have to hope that Gwaine will get drunk enough to forget all that was said. Normally there would be a small chance of anyone getting that drunk, but with Gwaine it was a whole different story.
At Gwaine's questions Elyan just grinned. This would be good. Elyan grabbed his ale as Gwaine began pulling him towards a table where a man was already dealing cards. Well there's the cards problem solved then. Elyan probably looked a lot more confident than he felt, and he was planning to keep it that way. He sat down next to Gwaine who was also looking pretty confident, whether he was bluffing or not, Elyan had no clue. “Ready to put your money where your mouth is?” He smiled confidently at Gwaine. "I was born ready," he said arrogantly. "Are you?" Elyan smirked. The man began dealing cards and Elyan hoped to all the gods that he'd have a good hand.

“Well I doubt I could pull off your hair colour either, I think I would look utterly ridiculous.” He chuckled at that and tried to picture her with black hair. He scrunched up his nose slightly. Nah! Red hair suited her just fine; he couldn't imagine her in any other colour now. He continued to smile when she spoke of her husband. He'd have to meet the man one day. Elyan knew the child would be precious whether he or she looked like his or her mother or father. But Elyan did have a specific red-headed image in his mind and he secretly hoped that the child shared its mothers hair colour. He wouldn't blurt that out again, though he doubted Caitrin would protest. “You will have to meet my child once they are born; I insist.” He grinned at her. "Oh that is a certainty; it would truly be my privilege and honour to meet the young Aubert child." After all of this talk of the baby, he was too already excited!
Although Elyan didn't have a lot of experience in court, he was fairly sure that now, Camelot's would be magnificent. On his travels, the courts of the kingdom's he'd journey to wouldn't be at the forefront of his mind. But from what he'd seen, he didn't doubt Camelot's was up with the best courts in all the kingdoms. Now, he thought with a smile, it would be even better with the ginger addition that would soon be coming. He couldn't help but smile warmly at her enthusiasm on raising her child here. “It shall be an experience of sorts.” He chuckled. "That's one way of putting it," he began. "But I'm sure all of your children, especially this little one," he motioned to her stomach, "will steal all the attentions of the court."
At her word of telling Elyan when she experienced that wonderful sensation only a mother could really experience, he smiled. He hoped so. “My child is remarkable, I’m sure.” He laughed at her jest and went along with it. "Ah yes, of course. Nothing short of absolutely extraordinary," he said with joking over enthusiasm. Yes, at least now he was not going insane seeing things, he chuckled. “The child seems to have settled though, so maybe I will follow soon after.” He was glad to hear that her child was no longer bothering her, but he couldn't help but feel a little sad to hear that she might be leaving soon. "I hope I am not intruding if you need to sleep, I'd hate to think that I have made you stay up when you wish to go to bed." He would of course be the ever gallant gentleman.

"Beating the seven bells out of one another for no apparent reason?" Elyan chuckled. "It's a show of strength and capability of being a knight, turns you into a man," he said in what he thought was a fairly manly voice and pushed Merlin's shoulder playfully. As they spoke of Lucan, Elyan agreed with Merlin. Despite not knowing him a whole lot, he knew Lucan was most definitely not a bully in any way. "Have you come up against him in training?" Elyan thought for a moment. "Well, yes in training, and I must say he is rather skilful with a sword." Elyan had come up against most of the knights in the various exercises Arthur would set out for them, and Lucan had been one of those said knights. His skill with a sword had been exceptional though, and although they weren't particularly close, Elyan knew him to be a good knight.
Merlin spoke wisely yet again. Elyan had to believe that everything that had happened, not only the possession, but every bad thing ever, had happened for a reason. Otherwise what was the point? "You never know, there might be some good that will come from it?" Elyan smiled warmly at Merlin. He genuinely appreciated how he was looking at the bright side of everything; it's exactly what he needed. "I think you're right," he began. "I may not see it now, but in time this will make me stronger." He had to believe that and have faith. "I just didn't want the whole situation with the druid child to change me, but maybe that is not such a bad thing?" Maybe he would change for the better, he didn't know. "What do you think?" He was coming to value Merlin's opinion greatly.

Elyan nodded and gave a small smile at Sebastian's thanks and smiled at his words. Yes they barely knew each other but Elyan was confident that the prince was indeed a good man. He hoped maybe they could build a friendship. One could never have to many friends after all. "Indeed, mistalk of a Royal is something that happens often," Elyan listened intently as Sebastian spoke on about what a shame it was that people would rather power than happiness and how Arthur stuck through despite that. "So should you, for your efforts to rid your own kingdom of, how did you put it? snakes in the grass." He smiled warmly at Sebastian. Arthur was not the only righteous sovereign in these lands, but so was this prince, Elyan hadn't failed to know. He rather liked the metaphor too because it was so true. He made a note of it in his head.
At his quiet statement Elyan nodded his head. "Epscially when they might help shape the peace of my own country." He smiled at Sebastian's words. "Wise choice my friend." Some may speak ill of Arthur with the hope that he will fall, but that would never happen. "Already you prove your wisdom to Arthur and eventually your people." If this alliance didn't prove to the prince's people of Sebastian's good will, Elyan didn't know what would. "I only wish to be as wise as yourself one day." They were probably roughly the same age, but Sebastian was a responsible and wise adult as far as Elyan could see, probably because of the responsibilities the prince had on his shoulders. Elyan felt different, like he was still growing, he wasn't particularly wise yet. He'd be grateful if he became half as wise and responsible as the prince.
Elyan smiled back at Sebastian when he thanked him. "I am happy to have met you, Elyan." He grinned at the prince for his kind words. "I'm most honoured to have met you," he gave a softer smile. "It's not every day a prince comes through that door but even rarer that such a noble man comes here either." The fact that he was a prince was not the point, it was his nobility. Not his noble blood, but rather his noble heart. "If it's not too forward, are there any plans of a coronation?" He said in reference to Sebastian. He had been told his father had died, so naturally if Sebastian was heir then he would rise to the role. He hoped his curiosity hadn't been too bold.

Merlin's words concerning what Elyan said about Guinevère comforted him and truly made him feel like he wasn't a rotten brother. He missed Gwen beyond all measure, but she was still human and a mistake was a mistake, no matter the consequences. "besides, you're a knight...you have to speak the truth." Elyan quietly chuckled at that. "Ah yes, the knights code and everything. Honesty, nobility, honour." He let his voice fade out while listing the things required of a knight of Camelot. Was he so honourable, however, when he let his sister leave without him? He sighed, he shouldn't dwell on what happened. What's done is done, as they say. However he knew his mind would not be at ease until he saw her again, safe before his very eyes.
Merlin continued to reassure Elyan that there was no gossip going round about his previous situation. Elyan had to admit he was very relieved and he smiled at Merlin. The experience was already going to be difficult to get over without the irritating knowledge that people were whispering about him behind his back. "he'll most likely be beating the life out of a poor dummy on the training field tomrrow, so you'll probably catch him then." Elyan chuckled at Merlin's words. Although he didn't know Lucan well, he knew Merlin's words were most probably correct. "Let's hope he'll be beating a straw dummy." And not a real dummy. He chuckled. Elyan knew Lucan was skilful on the training field and he felt bad for the poor soul who got onto his bad side.
Elyan simply nodded at Merlin's words. "some things are best kept secret." He let out a sigh. "I definitely agree with that." Elyan hadn't kept a whole lot of secrets in his life, but like anybody he has his fair share. "I guess I should be grateful things didn't go badly." He said quietly. "Or even worse, I should say," he smiled weakly. "Worse things have happened to many people and this is not the worst thing to happen to me." Not by a long shot. At least nobody had actually died.

At Gwaine's wink Elyan couldn't help but roll his eyes. “Anyway, it could be fun. You’ll never know until you’ve tried.” His eyebrows rose. "Fun?" He chuckled lightly. "I don't think fun's the word I would use." More like potentially humiliating. Gwaine's last words made him think however. Maybe he was right? He'd never say that out loud of course but Elyan wasn't the type to turn down trying new things. Not that charming women was necessarily a new thing, but in this tavern with Gwaine ever present to surely mock him the next day...yes it might as well be a new thing. He decided he wouldn't voice his thoughts. Maybe he could just bide his time and naturally talk to a barmaid or two eventually, after he'd settled in to the tavern a bit.
“I daresay I cannot refuse you, Sir Elyan.” Elyan chuckled at the use of a title that Gwaine also used. "Then the challenge is on." He said with sarcastic conviction. This would certainly be rather embarrassing if he ended up losing while gambling with the other knight. Well then he'd just better not lose. "Good luck in advance." He said with a smirk on his lips. A smirk he knew Gwaine couldn't see because Elyan was behind him, but the point still stood. He knew he probably shouldn't taunt Gwaine but the opportunity was too tempting. He'd regret it later if he did indeed end up losing...but that was later, this is now. There was no point dwelling on the possible large amount of mockery he could endure.
At Gwaine's words Elyan looked back down at his drink, deciding not to reply, and took a swig, drinking a little more than he probably should have in one gulp. “Are you up for a game of cards then Elyan? Unless you would prefer to charm women instead.” He caught Gwaine's tone of voice and narrowed his eyes at him. "Cards," he emphasised the word, "would be perfectly alright." He was pretty good at card games at least. "So Gwaine, how much are you willing to bet in this game of ours?" Granted they didn't have any cards yet, but someone around here was bound to have some and they'd get to that formality later. "Or we could play without money, if that's what you'd prefer." He took another swig from his ale and raised his eyebrow in challenge. It seemed this drink might just be getting to his head.

Elyan couldn't exactly say it was bad that the knight followed the rules so thoroughly. But he couldn't help but wonder how that must have affected his social life, or how it might have completely destroyed it. But then again maybe he was completely wrong, maybe Sir Iwan had an excellent and extremely active social life and Elyan just didn't know about it. He knew none of the other knights were like this but maybe it was a good thing to have at least one knight who really followed every regulation. The rules are there for a reason and Elyan was not going to judge a knight for following them...even if he followed them to a tee. They were just different, that's all...very very different. Elyan had never liked rules, ever since he was a child, he'd gone with the thought that rules were only there to be broken. Obviously, Sir Iwan had been brought up with very different ideas in his head.
"Eventually?" Elyan didn't fail to hear the slight disdain and confusion in his voice when he questioned Elyan's answer. Quite frankly he wasn't very sure what there was to be confused about. "That's rather...definite." Ah. It seemed Elyan probably should have worded his previous answer better, but at the time he hadn't thought much of his wording. But was it not definite? No knight was perfect, well apparently apart from Sir Iwan. But for mere mortals and especially Elyan, a rule, at least a little unimportant one was bound to be broken. It was almost impossible to believe that this knight had never broken a rule. He must have...at least once, by accident maybe. He made a note to ask the knight after they'd gotten to know each other a little better, maybe when the knight actually began to like, or at least tolerate him.
When Elyan continued to try and lighten the mood, he knew as the words had come out of his mouth that this man was not the type to laugh when it came to breaking rules. The smile that had been on Elyan's face completely fell, when a smile failed to appear on Sir Iwan's. At his very firm and confidant answer Elyan's eyebrows raised. "Rules are to be adhered to, otherwise there would be chaos." Elyan snorted. "Oh come on, even you must have broken at least one tiny little rule at some point since you were knighted." He had planned to wait before saying something like that, but it had just blurted out. "Nobody's perfect," he added.

He smiled warmly when she thanked him, it was a strange compliment but a genuine one nonetheless. “You would certainly stand out.” He laughed with her. Elyan was positive he'd look absolutely awful with ginger hair; he just wasn't cut out to be a Mercian. He might as well leave that to the pro's, like the lady Caitrin here. "You don't have to be kind about it; I know I'd look dreadful in ginger hair." He visibly cringed at the image. "I guess only some, such as yourself, can really pull off such a bold colour." He grinned at her. It was true however, only some could really pull it off and make it look good and know what colours would go with such a colour, and Elyan would now cease thinking like a girl. He sighed, he didn't know what was wrong with him. When she spoke of her husband not wanting ginger children he raised his eyebrows. "If it is not too bold to say my lady, I think ginger children would be quite magnificent." He grinned at her. "No offence to your husband of course," he repeated what he said before, and chuckled.
Elyan chuckled with her, at the image of her child taking part in the court of Camelot. Despite the king being quite young they could still do with a little more youth in court. And Mercian children would certainly be a wonderful addition, he didn't doubt. “I’m sure Arthur will keep a spectacular court.” Elyan smiled. "Ah yes, the young king will definitely fire it up and put youth into it." Arthur's father had been quite an old man and no offence to him but Elyan knew from some that court life had been a little dreary and boring sometimes. Arthur would soon change that and Elyan could already see the skip in one's step since his coronation and Gwen's coronation. It seemed they were doing alright for the time being and Elyan was most grateful. Elyan wouldn't insult the former king in front of Arthur of course though, despite his strong hate for Uther.
Elyan knew Caitrin would be in capable hands with the greatest physician he'd ever known. He smiled at her confident reassurance of herself, and couldn't agree with her more. She'd be fine. He grinned back at her when she expressed her excitement. "I've heard that one of the most precious moments in a mother's life is that first time you hold your child, knowing they are a part of you and will forever be a part of you until the very end," he looked back at her and sighed. "Sorry," he chuckled. "Although creating another life is quite remarkable." A miracle really. “I’m still not sleepy; are you anymore awake?” He thought about her question for a moment. "I'm actually a lot more awake thanks to you, at least I'm not hallucinating pregnant women anymore," he said before laughing off his previous humiliation. "Although I guess that's not such a good thing for you, is it."

Elyan continued to chuckle with Merlin while they teased Arthur without his knowledge. He knew he should probably feel a little guilty but it was all in good fun. Despite everything, Elyan still saw Arthur as a brother of some sorts, or a friend. So, was it so bad to joke about him mercilessly behind his back? Nah, it's alright. "I'm quite sure us teasing him isn't really going to help," he said grinning. "But is that really going to stop us? Nah." He patted Merlin on the shoulder in jest and continued to laugh. It seemed laughing at the expense of the man you almost killed did wonders in making you feel better. The ridiculous thought amused him.
He frowned at Merlin's silent response, and wondered if maybe he shouldn't have voiced his thoughts. "I hope you do not think any less of me for what I have said." After everything Merlin was doing for him, just being there as a good friend; he'd hate to jeopardise it with a few words. "I do of course wish every single day since she left, that she would come right back, safe and sound." He wished everything between his sister and the king would go back to normal, but sometimes things, especially love weren't always fair. He did not, however, want to take back his words if he could. He spoke the truth and honestly felt a lot better after saying it out loud. He just hoped Merlin did not think him a horrid brother because of it.
He instantly felt relieved at hearing Merlin's response. He never usually thought much about what others might think or say about him, it never really bothered him. But after the possession he'd hate the other knights, his fellow brothers in arms, to think him weak. Or after his attempt on the kings life, they could've thought of him as disloyal to the crown and the kingdom. That was most definitely not true. If Elyan knew one sure thing about himself, it was his loyalty to Camelot and Arthur. "I must say, that is a relief to hear," he said letting out a small sigh. His face broke into a warm smile at hearing one of the other knights, Sir Lucan had asked about him. They weren't particularly close, but he appreciated it greatly. "I will be sure to give him my thanks for his concern." It was the least he could do. "Oh and thank you for not talking too much about what happened, it makes me feel much more comfortable," he admitted. He knew Merlin wasn't the type to gossip and talk, but he felt the need to thank him nonetheless. "Although I'm sure there must be a few rumours and bits of gossip around the castle," he said with a sombre face.

“Why are you worried?” Elyan could tell by the tone of Gwaine's voice that he was finding the situation amusing. But Elyan refused to get embarrassed, and instead just answered Gwaine with a voice as casual as he could muster. "Well you know, I'm not exactly much of a ladies man," he began. "I'd probably just end up, sort of...humiliating myself in front of the poor woman." That hadn't come out quite how Elyan had hoped but nevertheless it was the truth. "Plus I'm rather afraid of what ridiculous scheme you'll make up, to get me to charm a woman." He dreaded to think of the countless 'not so good' experiences Elyan had previously encountered with the opposite sex. 'Getting into trouble' was an understatement to describe the situations Elyan would accidently get himself into which he had to admit might have on occasion involved girls. He chuckled softly, remembering his own youthful foolishness, although he hadn't changed too much.
Now gambling he could handle...sort of. Yes, sometimes he might exaggerate his skills; however he knew he was a pretty good at calling bluffs most of the time. He fondly remembered how Gwen would all but kill him when they were young and he'd go gambling with the boys. She'd call him reckless and he had to admit, she had been kind of right. He hadn't always been such a good player and he'd lost his fair share of games. “That sounds to me like a challenge…” Elyan chuckled. "And if it is?" He held a challenge in his tone. "Do you wish to rise up to it?" He paused for just a moment before adding, "Sir Gwaine?" He mocked, and wondered how the knight would take his teasing, before continuing to chuckle.
Elyan found a seat not too deep into the tavern and quite near the bar...just in case. He sat down and looked back at Gwaine, finding him grinning at a barmaid. Typical, they'd only just arrived and he was already flirting with them. He rolled his eyes at Gwaine's obvious subtlety and he couldn't help but chuckle into his sleeve as he saw the barmaids obvious rejection. He took his ale and laughed slightly at the knight's words. "Oh giving up so soon, I'm disappointed," he said with mock disbelief, before laughing again. "Although I must say gambling does sound great to me." He took a good long sip from his ale and couldn't help but let out a breath afterwards. How he loved the sweet taste and slight burn of ale. He relished in it and he didn't make an effort to hide it.

Hey Arthur Feel free to ignore this if your busy, but if you want to have a go at making some posting layouts for Elyan I'd be really grateful ;D I have no preferences, so you can do what you want. Again, if you're too busy than you absolutely don't have to bother yourself with this.
