It was going to be one of them conversations. One women were better at. Arthur needed a woman! One faithful to coin not to a pretty face. "I did not want a favor, I was trying to break that ice." He looked at Arthur, "You know. That ice around your face. You look frozen." It was joke. A very, very bad joke. "haha?" No, this wasn't going to work.
"Ok, I am done. I will be serious." HA! "In truth, I wanted to see how you were. I wanted to let you know I approve with how you handled everything. I didn't want see a woman die, no matter what your uncle wanted. Nasty business killing women. This way no one get hurts further." He was trying to help. "if you want to beat the hell out of someone, I can hold Merlin down. If you want someone to beat the hell out of you then I am here!" Kolby could not best him any longer but he was trying to be funny. WAIT! He was supposed to be trying to be serious. THAT lasted.

Kobly for once, wasn't in the mood to be dashingly charming and wittily on cue. Today he was int he mood to--Hey! That flower would look on him! Walking past the servant's carrying the flowers away he plucked one out and tucked it in this shirt. The white flower hung there for a moment. He heard what happen. Hell he'd been in the room as they drug her in, before Arthur dismissed them all.
Kobly walked into the throne room, took one look at the king, and pulled the flower out to toss it on the ground a bit guilty. Kobly and Arthur went way back, he having started to train the boy until he learned to fight back. Walking up to the king, Kolby looked one way, and then the other before learning forward to Arthur, "Is this a good time to ask you for a favor?" He leaned back and looked at him for a moment, "No, I don't think so. You look a bit serious." He tilted his head one way and then the other. Reaching out to rest his hand on Arthur's shoulder he himself grew serious for a moment, "I might not have approved, but I didn't want it to end this way."

Kolby was not bitter at all, he was simply annoyed and he was only annoyed because annoyed sounded a hell of a lot better then saying he was bitter and he was NOT a bitter man. Kolby was leaning against the wall of the citadel while watching the knights train against each other so that when the next bitter magic loving wanna-be-queen tried to take over the kingdom they would be more ready.
He was getting to old for this, but there were others older and he was not going to quit while he was behind. Kolby stood there until he noticed one of the new members of the knights enter the field. The mouthy one. These men were not knights for knights were of noble blood, but Kolby knew better then to speak up against them. The prince had put his faith in them, and they had got him out of that smelly cell full of men who had not bathe in a bloody week! Pushing off from the wall, Kolby walked over to the area this Gwaine was before speaking. "I am Sir Kolby of Arleon, my family has served the Pendragon's since they took rule." He said as way of a greeting, not sounding bitter at all.

Now the prince was not even attacking in a blind rage! He was just yelling at him! Really now, how was Kolby supposed to win if the prince started to talk him down. No fun at all! He was trying to figure out why the prince was so annoyed (so he could use it to win) and trying to figure out how to win once he got the prince fighting again. While this appeared to be a successful mission to appease Morgana, something must have gone wrong enough to bring out this reaction in the young hot head.
"Maybe I will steal the kiss in your stead!" Kolby offered, knowing he damn well would not. The king would have something besides his head on a plate if he tried and Kolby was rather fond of his 'something else'. He would like to keep it around for a bit longer. "From the maid too, bet she was grateful!" Kolby would not be kissing a maid anytime too but he was just talking to talk by this point.

They've done this before? Oh joy. That filled with with confidence. He was working for professional jail breakers. "I really don't want to know of your past misdeeds." He told the prince, trying not learn of all the misdeeds. If he was asked, he could just shrug his shoulders and claim he was as clueless as most people assumed he was at times. Kolby wasn't an idiot. He knew more then he let on but just wasn't the type to use the knowledge he gained.
"I don't know the details of your past misdeeds, but let me point out two very awkward facts. One would be the knights your father has glued to your side, so that he will know if you attempt to see her. You can not get to her. In order to do so I would have to form a plan to distract over 30 people in over 12 locations. . . . . I am honored with the fact you think I am so dashingly distracting but COME ON! A man has his limits!"
"The other is the simple fact that SHOULD I manage to draw every eye of Camelot away from the door, it would only be for under a minute. Seconds really before they go back to their posts and notice She'd Gone!" His tone changed from his forever mocking and teasing to a very real tone, "Look at what happened to her father. Once she takes a step out of that cell room, the king will have her killed upon sight. If the plan fails at any second along the way you will not have to watch her burn, you will have to watch the men you call brothers follow orders. They don't want that, you have no idea how hard it is for us to follow the king's orders when it means betraying our general."
"If I could not do this, I would not be here. I happen to know it was not an enchantment that made you . . . with her. I've known for almost two years." Then his face changed! "Two years! Lady Jane! I think I have a a plan! No one has to get hurt!"

"If you hunt me, try to avoid my bedroom. You might see me comforting whatever heart you broke by leaving this world." Kolby joked to the younger knight in the way way most knights riled each other. Nothing overly disrespectful for no names were ever spoken but nothing they could repeat while females were present! "Just don't smell it, and down it fast enough that you don't taste it."
In it was some ale mixed in with some eggs, tomatoes and other ingredients. He did not know the details about why all these things worked so well after a night of drinking but he knew that if you could stomach the cure then the headaches, and everything that came with it would start to fade and then disappear shortly after. If these youngins could get down a few mouth fulls then they would be alright in a half hour. "On the bright side, if it kills you then you will not have to face my blade!"

There were to many flaws in that plan, for Kolby to feel comfort with. No, they were not doing that! The prince would just have to think a little harder! "It's not going to work. If you try to change anything with the knights routines the king will know you are up to something. We need a good old fashioned distraction plan. Think harder!" He demanded but not in a desperate tone. The whole comment came out as if he was only have paying attention to Arthur.
"And you can't leave with her. Not at first anyway. Anytime someone escapes from the castle--something that has been happening at an alarming rate by the way--the King will give a little chase but stop at the border. If you are here, the king will not order his men to cross the border." Kolby could think about some aspects of plans but not others. He never did get good at thinking outside the box; "You will have to either let her go, or meet her later. If you leave wit her . . . . . . Just look what he made us do with the lady Morgana! He will order us to hunt you down and drag you both back."

Bloody 'ell, the wench was knocking at his door. 'Sir Kolby? I you still with in?' Lady Jane asked in her voice that normally was light and held a melody of songs but not seemed shriekishly high pitched. No, he was not in. He was going back to sleep. Last night he had spend a few rather pleasing moments in the garden with lady Jane; but stealing a kiss did not mean he wanted more. 'I do not think he is with in, let us go in and leave him the note!'
That caused his eye lids to force them selves open long enough to be blinded by the bright light. Damn women! While he had not drank enough to forget his actions from the night before (more's the pity) he had drank enough to make his morning very un pleasant. 'No, no my lady, let us just slide it under his door!' Kolby rolled out of bed, and his head spun. Damn women! 'I am not going to leave my note on the floor! I want to leave it on his pillow!'
Kolby pushed him self up off the floor and grabbed his pants to slide them on. Then he found a shirt. He managed to pull his padding and chainmail off the floor and get tot he window just as the door started to open. Damn woman was breaking into his room! He sat on his window seal and jumped down to the next level a few feet below' thus escaping Lady Jane and her note.
Half an hour later, Kolby was dressed in his chainmail but no armor, and carrying a wine sack as he entered the training field. As a man of more years then most the young bucks, Kolby had learned the cure to a hangover. He approached the prince and friend. "My lord!" He gave him a overly loud and cherry greeting with a nod before turning to Richard to do the same; "Vawdrey!"
He held out the bag, "Don't ask what is in it. Just drink what you can and try not to smell it." Just to be annoying, and because he knew hangovers could make sounds louder, and people dizzy he reached over and gave a friendly --and rough-- slap on Richard's back. "It will cure what ales ya and put some hair on your chest!"

Kolby watched the young girl speak and noticed that see seemed afraid of him. Kolby was no so evil that he enjoyed her discomfort but spys were very good at what they did. He was not ready to trust her just yet. Her name however sounded familiar. Reade? Was there a man he knew by that name? Not a knight but a guard in the castle perhaps. If the girl held some sort of relation to Reade then maybe she was only looking for him?
Kolby fought the urge to shoo her on her way, after a reprimand for he had to be sure she was no spy before letting her go. "You were watching the men train while hiding out of sight. That sounds allot like spying, little girl. If you are Cenred's spy then what business do you have watching the knights train?" He demanded, his normal joking and teasing tone lost as she was only a servant (as evident from her clothing) and because she could also be a spy.
While Kolby was not as judgmental as the others he was still a snob. He was a Knight, born to a family of good blood and breeding; and while he would lay his life down for any servant, farmer, or citizen of Camelot he still saw him self as above them. He was raised with things like honor and nobility, and he knew the level in which he held him self was above any servant's.

Kolby was winning and he loved it. "Really Leon old chap I think you are getting old!" He good heartedly teased his friend while trying to annoy him at the same time. Leon was a good strategist but Kolby was a better swordsman. It made them about even, even if Leon won more then Kolby did. They did not keep score, but a man had his pride! He knew when others were better then he was.
The day was warm, so the men opted to forgot formalities and practice with blunt swords rather then sharpened steal and to rid them selves of they heavy chainmail that trapped the sweat to their bodies. It also gave them a chance to show off battle wounds with out being overly boastful. And scar here, twisted skin there. Signs that you have lived to fight another day when the battle had grew dangerous. Kolby had his share of scars, but none that stood out; when the others would joke and ask him where his badges of courage were he would tell them in his cheekiest tone that he was to good to get wounded.
Leon was making a sharp swinging blow towards Kolby when he noticed movement near the wall. Distracted by it, he was only just able to block the blow and move out of the way. He had however, lost his sword in the effort. Annoyed, Kolby glared up at the wall but saw nothing. He gave Leon a formal bow that came out a bit to casual and mocking to be truly formal before allowing another to take his place.
Someone had just cost him his win! He moved up the hill towards the wall, in effort to find out just who--or what---had done it. Once up along the wall, he moved to the loophole entrance so he could peek in. There was someone in there. He reached in, and moved his arm closer until his hand found fabric and then he pulled whomever it was out by the handful he had. It was a little girl! He dropped his hold on her, once he saw it was a girl but he wasn't about to let her just walk away. "Who are you and why do spy on the knights of Camelot?!" He demanded, wondering who sent her here. Was it Cenred? He had a spy here! Everyone knew it!

Kolby folded his arms over his chest and watched Arthur in an 'oh I believe you' tone of expression. Very wink wink nudge nudge. "Yes, Sire, you may rest assure that my mind has been erased." He joked in a light tone, before standing there and watching the prince. He was waiting to be dismissed of course. Hopefully before the prince realized that Kolby was covering his own lateness. Though . . . .
He had admitted to the king that the reason he was late was hunting with his son. So if one thought about it then everyone already knew he was late. So he had nothing to hide. Other then the bold face lie to the king. That one might cost him his honor if he got caught but he was rather hoping he would not be caught.

How? Really now, the prince was not using his pretty little head was he? Kolby was not a thinker, he did not plan things. He was HERE because he did not have a plan. If he had a plan, he'd have done it and then worried about how to tell the prince he'd done it. "If I knew how, I would not be here. I am not under watch, I am a high ranking knight; name one person who'd question my orders--besides, Leon." Leon was a good man, but honestly Kolby was trying to avoid crossing paths with him at the moment. Or anyone who out ranked him.
Kolby pushed off from the table and walked slowly closer while speaking;"I am not being watched, if you can help me think up a plan I can get her out. Then you can either know she is safe or join her if you wish." He was hoping not the later part of all this. He paused standing next to the window and leaned on the wall beside it. "I would prefer a plan which did not involve getting me caught." Kolby looked out the window casually and paused before asking a a shocked tone. "You're watching this?!"

Bloody 'ell! Kolby was not sure who was slipping more into madness; the king the prince or the himself for even bothering. He spoke to his commander, while his mind was thinking a few steps ahead. Kolby by nature was not one to think and plan. His skills were in his actions not his thoughts. His commander was a good man, and he could see that the man was having his own troubles with dealing with this. Still, there was a difference between knowing something was wrong and believing something was wrong. Kolby believed.
He left the man he had the up most respect for and paused a moment to look at him before turning to walk away. The next time they came face to face; Kolby knew that they might not be speaking as friends. He headed down the halls and up the steps of the castle he'd come to call home and gave a formal yet slightly casual bow nod like bow to the knights out side the prince's door before entering with out knocking. He shut the door and walked deeper inside to come to stand near the table.
Kolby took the last few steps he dared so he could rest a hip against it in a casual manner. "I hope she is worth it." He said as a way of bring up the topic, but he did not let the words linger (he did not want the prince to kill him); "Treason, I mean. Because helping you is what my actions would be." Kolby had known for over a year that the prince was seeing a bit to much of the servant girl. While he did not approve at first, he had known better then to speak up against the prince's choice. While Kolby still saw this as a step below the prince, he respected his friend enough not to speak up or stand in his way. "You're under constant watch, Arthur, you can't get to her. I can."

He had surprised the prince! Kolby wasn't surprised, as he was not as sneaky as he thought he was. "Come now, you might be able to hide everything from others but it's plain to see. You're very fond of the king's ward; even a blind man can see it. She disappears for the week; you disappear shortly after then you both return on the same day!"
Kolby winked at him, "Your secret is safe with me sir." He promised, so the prince would know that he was not about to go tell everyone. Kolby did not know who else knew, or who had guessed but he'd put it together in just a few moments. They were lucky they returned within the same hour. This way they could cover each others story.

Yes, something was a bit more then off here. Kolby watched the prince as he did the fancy spin with his sword. Show off. He shook his head slowly, at the young buck's idea of fancy. While Kolby did not know what was annoying the prince he did know that his words were not helping. Which was good for him, for he liked to win every now and then. "I think something might be bothering you, Sire." He said as if he was just clueing in on Arthur's change in mood.
He raised his sword to block he attack which had not really came close to him. instead of taking advantage of the blind rage, Kolby stepped back. "You know, if this how you return after playing hero, I am going to start thinking she wasn't worth it. Do you want me to tell her you want a kiss for your troubles?" He knew he was encouraging Arthur's anger but at this point he knew that if he did not burn it out then every knight on the field today would be his whipping boy. It wasn't even fun anymore with how Angry the prince was.

This time, Kolby was a bit more ready for the prince. He was able to block the blow without any injury to his person, even if the blow was still as hard. Something was off here. This was more then bitterness over not getting rewarded after fetching someone's maid back home. Kolby did not counter the attack, but moved back out of range afterwords. He stared at the prince for a moment, trying to decide how best to move forward.
Morgana and Arthur were close, and he doubted she would fail to thank him properly. Maybe there was something else going on here? Had his father 'spoken' to him about his actions? The king surely would be upset over his son risking his life for a maid! "Come now, Sire, everyone has their on skills. My is my words and yours is saving servant girls!" He jested, before moving in for his own attack. Arthur might attack with strong angry blows but let's see how he handled blocking! Kolby swung his sword up from the ground and aimed at the prince's chest. While the blow might not be as strong from this angle, it was also much harder to block.

Now. Yes, that would work. Kolby silently followed the prince out and down the hall and then even over to the hall way where they could speak alone. Kolby knew the risk he had taken by lying to the king but he had been trying to cover his own hyde as well. Kolby stood there when Arthur was done with their walk of shame that might have been meant to appear casual but if anyone had actually seen it would have only alerted them to their going-ons. Really now! If the prince was going to start sneaking around to see Morgana then he needed to learn to be casual!
"It's my job to protect you, Sire." He teased, "Besides, I know where you were and I can understand. I also know the King would not. I felt it was safer for me to speak up rather then ruin everyone's day." Besides, for being late Kolby would have been forced to do extra training. Even while he did not bring up his own fault, he knew that was a bigger part of why he'd spoken up. Kolby gave Arthur a light punch on the shoulder, "Besides, I wouldn't want to be in the room when you told your father you were going to be his son-in-law either."

Plan A was not working! Kolby had managed to get his sword up to block the blow but the impact had only pushed both swords into his helmet. So much for not damaging his brains! Kolby pushed the sword back brought the hilt of his into the shoulder. It only got the hit in because the force of Arthur's blow had almost spun his own sword around.
Pulling back to raise his sword in attack form, Kolby looked down the blade at the prince. He began to move slowly to the right for it was moronic to stand still. "Maybe you should dawn your helmet, Sire, I would hate to have her weep over your bruised face." He was joking, for he knew better then to injure the prince. (Even if he could). "If she get that emotional over a maid, imagine how she will cry when I have bested you!" He teased.
