In a land of myth, and a time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy, his name . . . Merlin. • Welcome to Camelot • Camelot: a Kingdom in Albion, under the rule of a powerful king with the name Uther Pendragon. Magic has been banned and completely outlawed, with no exceptions. Anyone caught doing sorcery or socializing with any sort of magic, will immediately be arrested and potentially executed. His tolerance for magic is zero, as he continues to try and rid the kingdom of it. He has imprisoned the last dragon deep within the city. He has but one sole heir to the throne, Arthur Pendragon, and a ward who resides with them in the castle, the Lady Morgana. The citizens of this kingdom range from nobles, servants, and peasants.
Merlin, a young warlock with exceptional powers, is sent to fulfill his destiny, under the leadership of the court physician, Gaius. He is meant to protect Arthur so that he can one day be King to a powerful, strong, and great kingdom. His powers however must be kept secret, with only a very small number of people who are aware of them.
Camelot is a dangerous place for sorcerers and those engaged in any sort of magic. Never the less, people do practice it with the hope that it will one day be restored in Camelot. Others, who practice it for evil and selfish purposes, often plan assassinations and plots to destroy the kingdom and royal family.
Based on the BBC hit series, Merlin, come join a world of sorcerers, witches; commoners and nobles who are either fearful of these supernatural powers in the world, or encourage and support them. With no distinct time line, as threads are able to take place any time, any where, come join the fight for magic, or the fight against it.
Choose your status . . . choose your side . . . choose your destiny.

Frequently Asked Questions
[/center][/color] Q[/font]: Am I allowed to be in more than one thread at one time? A[/b][/size][/font]: The answer to this is YES. You are permitted to have your character in more than one thread at one time. There is no limit to the number of threads you can be in. Just make sure that you are able to keep track of all of them. A suggestion would be Bookmarking them to help you keep track of them all. Q: Is there a specific time line on the board?A: The answer is NO, there is not a specific timeline on the board. It can take place anytime before, during, or after any episode in the series. Q: How often do I have to post?A: You must post for each canons at least seven times a week. The requirement for made up characters is a bit more lenient. This is so that we can keep the board as active as possible and so that other people do not have to wait on you if you have threads with them. If you are going away on vacation somewhere, or will not have access to the computer for a certain amount of time, please let us know in the Absences board so that your threads do not get archived and your characters will not be given away. Q: Is there a limit to the amount of made up characters I can play?A: The answer to this is NO; there is no limit to the amount of made up characters you can play. However, it is recommended not to have more than you can handle because it can be hard to keep track of all of them. Again, there is no rule indicating a limit, but it can be very time consuming and a difficult commitment to maintain if you have too many characters. Q: Do I need staff approval for my bio before I start posting?A: The answer to this is YES. For characters from the series as well as any made up characters, you must wait for the admin to approve your bio. If you are asked to make a few modifications to your bio, do not feel discouraged. You may still be able to play that character, but you must make the changes you are asked to. You will most likely receive a PM from a staff member, outlining the changes that must be made. Please do not post before you hear from an admin. If your bio is approved, you will know it is approved. Q: How do I get started role playing once my bio is posted?A: Once your bio is posted and approved, then you are free to start posting. Feel free to post in any of the role play sections. There are a few role play categories (boards under: Camelot, Albion, & Other Locations). Do NOT role play anywhere outside of those boards under these three categories and DO NOT post anything in there other than role play threads. You do not need an admin's permission to start a thread, but if you want a specific person in there, then you MUST let that person know BEFORE you post the thread. If you want it to be open to anyone, then in your post, include [open to anyone] so that other members know it is not restricted to a single person or a specific group of people. If the thread is tagged to one specific person, no one else is allowed to post in that thread unless they have permission from one of the members in it. Q: Am I allowed to be canon characters that are not listed in the Cast List?A: The answer to this question is YES. You are permitted to be characters from the series, no matter how minor their role, that are not listed there, but you must post a bio for them. You are allowed to make up details about them. There are SEVERAL characters and its impossible to incorporate them all into one big list, so if there is one from any particular scene that you would like to be then you are more than welcome to. As well, keep in mind that this is based on the BBC show Merlin. Be sure to check with the member who role plays a character if you want yours to be related to them. If that character is open, then we ask you do not create any relationships between them, unless it is indicated in the series.[/color][/blockquote]

Status
There are six different Statuses That your character can be. There is a section in your profile that says "Status" and next to it is a drop down menu with 6 options: Royalty, Nobility, Knight, Servant, Citizen, Peasant and Nomad. Feel free to pick the status that best suits your character. Their status should be relatively consistent, however it is understandable if it changes and therefore, you can change it accordingly. For example, your character may start off as a peasant but slowly gain more wealth and therefore become a citizen.
[/u][/color]: This status is for those who are Royalty. This includes anyone of noble blood and part of the ruling family in a kingdom, for example: Uther, Arthur, etc. In Camelot, there would not be more than a few people who would fit under this category.[/li][li] Nobility: Those who are nobility are the people who are extremely wealthy and own estates and land within the kingdom they are nobles of. They include people with titles such as Lord, Duke, etc. Anyone under this category are from a noble family. [/li][li] Knight: Those who are knights and serve on the army of any kingdom. They are men who have been knighted to fight for the crown of the kingdom they are most loyal to. They possess the title of 'Sir' and are very well respected individuals. For more information about becoming a Knight, specifically one of Camelot, click HERE.[/li][li] Servant: This group is reserved for those who work in the castle. It includes maids, cooks, etc. For example: Guinevère would be considered a servant since she works for Lady Morgana. Servants have a low status, and may also be considered citizens, however in order to differentiate between the two groups, those who work in the castle will most likely obtain this status as a servant. [/li][li] Citizen: This pertains to those who are living in towns, cities, or villages who are not extremely wealthy, but are not extremely poor either. They fall somewhere in between. Their occupations may include things such as farmers, blacksmiths, etc. They are obviously lower than nobles however are above peasants.[/li][li] Peasants: This group of people are the lowest in society. They are those who are extremely poor and have very little money and other necessities such as food and shelter. They may be seen begging on the street, or living in very small quarters as they struggle to survive.[/li][li] Nomad: Nomads are people who travel around a great deal, and technically do not have one set status. It includes characters who engage in practices of magic (ie: sorcerers, witches, druids, etc). It is also for any others who are not settled in one place, and therefore, do not have a status in that kingdom or region. [/li][/ul][/blockquote]

Personal Text
Personal text is the text that shows up right under your avatar. Though there is no rule about what you can put there, some people choose to have a quote of their character displayed there. There is a limit as to how many words you can have. To make it different, you are able to change the color of it.
This is done by using the following code:
[/color] [color=######]INSERT TEXT HERE[/color] Instead of having a code with Numbers and Letters, you can simply type in the color you would like. For instance, it could also look something like this:[color=Red]INSERT TEXT HERE[/color] Proboards does not recognize every color that you may type in however, so sometimes it is easier to use a # and letter code instead because all of the hex color codes are recognized. As well, you are only permitted to put one color code in your personal text. If you try multiple, they will not work.[/blockquote]

Custom Title
The custom title is the text that shows up above the stars in your profile. The Custom Title is something that relates to your character, and so when your bio has been approved, the admin will PM you so that you can choose your custom title. Only staff can change that part of your profile. The color will be changed automatically by a staff member to which ever color you choose to post in.
For Example:
Elyan's custom title is Just follows his heart wherever it leads him
A couple of members have image custom titles.
For Example:
Guinevère's custom title is:
This is only permitted for members who have reached 2000 posts! You can either make one yourself or request one from a member.

Colored Usernames
As many of you can probably tell, most of the user names have unique colors. The color they are, is the color that the user posts their post in. It is not compulsory to post in a different color. Some people choose to so that their posts can look different and colorful.
For example:
Arthur Pendragon is Gold Guinevère Pendragon is 8169AD Elyan is 006633
There are many sites that you can choose from which display multiple color codes. The following are a few:
[click the name of the site to be directly linked to it]
Those are only a few of the many sites you can look on to select a color. There is also many color options in the drop down color menu, which is located on the right hand side of your post screen.

Posting in Color
[/font] As you can all see, some people choose to post messages in color in the chat box. This is a very simple process. All you need to do is enter the hex color code, in the exact same way that you would in a post. When you type your message, it would look something like this:
[color=#000000]INSERT MESSAGE HERE[/color]
If your color code is such a word instead of a hex code then you just enter the word. For example, if your posting color is Red, then you enter it as follows:
[color=red]INSERT MESSAGE HERE[/color]
Keep in mind that there a limit on length for the chat box messages, so in order to get the code to work, you must make sure you have both the beginning and end part. [/blockquote]

Adding an Icon
[/font] As you can all see, some people choose to include an icon of their character with each post they make. It appears in the far left corner of your post. Adding an icon is a very simple process.
All you have to do is enter the URL of the image in the spot that says EMAIL / URL on the right hand bottom of the chatbox. You do not need to include any IMG tags or anything; just the URL link on its own. [/blockquote]

Signature Limitation
There is a rule outlining the limitation that the banner in your signature can be. Your image can be no longer than 600 pixels and no higher than 350 pixels.
This is to prevent the screen from stretching, as it proves to be very inconvenient for members because they have to scroll down. It also messes up the aligning of the board. It is the MAXIMUM size. There is no minimum size, so your signature picture can be smaller than this if you like. Members who do not change their signature size will be reminded in a PM, and if it is still not changed, the admin will change it for them.
If you are unsure how to resize an image, or need help doing it, then feel free to send me a PM and I can either explain to you how to do it, or do it for you.

Changing Signature and Avatar
What this basically means is that every time you post, a new image will appear in your signature and/or avatar. They appear in a random order. You select the pictures you would like and they will be entered, so as you post, you will see different images with each post. The more images you have, the more variation you will see. If you do not see a certain image for several posts, then do not worry. It is still there, it just may take some time to show up because the order of which the images are shown are completely random, and so are in no particular order.
It is possible to have both a changing signature and a changing avatar. There is however a limit to how many pictures you can have. It takes work to make these changing avatars and signatures, so a limit is necessary. You do not have to have the maximum amount of pictures. You can only have 10, 14, 8 or 2 even if you like, since of course two is the minimum.
Avatars: There is a limit to 10 icons. If you have over 1000 posts, then you are permitted an additional 5 pictures for your changing avatar, making it 15 in total. If you have a picture, and would like to make an icon out of it but are not sure how, then I can do it for you. They can not be bigger than 100x100 pixels.
Signature: All your images must be within the size limit, no larger and if they are then I will automatically resize it myself. They are permitted to be smaller. If you also are not sure how to resize it, then I can help you.
If you are able to, please host the pictures yourself. This means that they are uploaded in your photobucket account. If you are hosting them, then DO NOT move the location of those pictures. If you move them into another album, then your changing signature will no longer work.
If you are unsure how to host/upload them, then let us know and we can either try to explain, or will in fact upload them for you and keep them in a secure album. We would appreciate it if you can do it yourself if you are familiar with the process.
Please contact us for a changing signature and/or avatar. You can have both, either, or none.
NOTE: It takes time to make these changing signatures and avatars so please do not expect it the day after you requested it. We will let you know approximately how long it will take. We may be busy, so it could take up to several days.

How To Add Avatars and Signatures
[/font] AVATAR: Step 1: Select an image. This is easily done by searching through the net of the celebrity you are using.Step 2: You need to either upload the photo or somehow obtain the URL (or link) to your photo. This can be done by right clicking, going to properties and copy and pasting where it says “Address (URL)”. Uploading your photo requires an image hosting site (ie: photobucket, imageshack etc. Accounts on these sites are easy to make, just go to their websites: http://www.photobucket.com)Step 3. Go to your profile; press “Modify Profile” and paste the URL where you see “Avatar URL”. You can also change the width and height of it, but the maximum size is 100 x 100. The default size it goes to if you enter the URL, but leave the width and height blank is 65 x 65. So if you want it bigger, you have to enter the appropriate dimensions. As previously stated, it can be no bigger than 100x100. If your image is bigger than that size, it may look squished. If you need help resizing your icon, then let me know.
In addition, if you would like text underneath your avatar (most commonly people put quotes that they’re characters have said) then go into “Modify Profile” and enter the text where it says “Personal Text”. There is a limit to how much you can write, so make sure your text does not get cut off. SIGNATURE: Step 1 and 2 Follow the same process as putting up your avatar, so just follow those two steps for your signature too.Step 3: Go to “Modify Profile” (which is located after pressing the `Profile`button) and scroll down to where it says “Signature”. In order for your picture to show up as an image, you MUST enter the following code:[img]EDIT: Insert URL of your image[/img] You can also add text to your signature, however keep in mind that this too has a limit of how much you can enter. With the text, you can change the color, size, and font of it. You can also make the text and image move, and center it. Here are some of the codes that you can enter: [color=ENTER COLOUR HERE]ENTER TEXT HERE[/color] [font=ENTER FONT HERE]ENTER TEXT HERE[/font] [size=ENTER SIZE HERE; use numbers]ENTER TEXT HERE[/size] [move]ENTER TEXT OR IMAGE HERE[/move] [this will cause your text and/or image to move across the screen] [center]ENTER TEXT HERE[/center] [this will make your image and/or text appear in the middle of the screen; you can also align it to the left and right]Any codes that are available in posts, are also available for your signature. AVATAR: Your avatar or icon is the image that is displayed on the left hand side of your posts. It consists of an image of the character you are role playing for. The maximum size of avatars are 100x100 pixels. The default is 65x65, but you can easily change that by adjusting the size you would like it in your profile. SIGNATURE: Your signature is what shows up at the bottom of every post. It is a banner, or a picture of your character. You can be as creative as you like with your signature, by adding text to it as well. There is a signature size limitation so that the board does not stretch. The following are guides regarding your Avatars and Signatures. Click the subject to be linked to the information pertaining to it. - In Character Chat: The IC [In Character] Chat Box is located at the bottom of the forum. This is a place to muse as your character and does not necessarily follow any specific plot. It is a great place for all sorts of in character fun and shenanigans.
- Out Of Character Chat: The OOC [Out Of Character] Chat Box is located at the left hand side of the forum. This is a place to chat and meet other members. Forum rules still apply.
