Vaughn chuckled at her remark, deciding that he would focus more on the idea of another kind of blackmail, rather than receiving money for it. "I must do nothing. If you wish to protect your secret, it is you who must be in full compliance." Really. How far would she go with this? Vaughn was going to test out that theory. For a man with no morals, he had no problem testing her limits. "What a scandal that would be, if anyone were to ever find out."
Vaughn was very tempted to see where she lived. Maybe he would give himself a tour later on. He had the name, the place would be easy enough to find but he truly was curious as to what kind of family Alegra had, and what sort of estate she owned. If what she spoke was true, then it really would be a rather large one. "Lucky for you, I am a man who can meet anyones high standards." He was not above boasting, especially if he was not actually going to go through with this. But then she did not know that, not right now. "The time for talking seems to have drawn to an end. Should we go somewhere more private to begin the first payment. Unless you would like to put on another show, this time for others who lurk around. I doubt it will be as violent as the last."

"That sounds promising," he said when she assured him that they could handle any amount of money. Vaughn knew that this meant he could keep this up for quite a bit of time. His intention was not to make her family bankrupt of course. Not that he cared about the well being of her family. It just meant that his fun would end. Seeing her emotions seem to alter, even in the slightest, meant that he had presented a situation that she was not comfortable with. Then again, if she had been, it only would have meant that she had lost her virtue long ago.
"How much do you think a knight would live on? You seem like a reasonably intelligent girl." Yes, he called her girl. "Tell me. Based on your opinion of all that you have seen in your travels. What do you think would be a decent amount for a man to get by in, oh well lets say for about a week." He paused for a moment. "Monetary wise. The other possibility would have to be on a different basis." While not truly considering it as an option, it was fun for him to entertain the idea with her.

When Vaughn had felt he had finished with the office, he left, looking in the hall but did not see Alistair. He must be in one of the desginated rooms. But just because he told them to scope opposite sides, did not mean Vaughn was going to stick to this plan. He opened the first door on the left, and saw that no one was inside. He did not trust Alistair to get anything that may be of good use. As he previously recognized, Vaughn was unsure of Alistair's intentions of coming here. Was he just along for the ride? Or had he actually taken something with the intent to sell it or use it to buy something for him or his people, since he tended to think of them a lot of the time.
Vaughn heard movement in the next room. The door had begun to creak, meaning someone was opening it from the other side. Vaughn casually placed one hand on the handle of his dagger which was at his side. It may not be necessary quite yet to pull the sword out from its sheath, as it was strapped to his back and would make more of a scene if this man was not.... Alistair. It was just Alistair. When the door had opened, Vaughn had been directly there and stared at the druid for a moment, before looking past him to see which room it was. It was a royal chamber. Wait. It was her royal chamber.
Figures. Vaughn walked past Alistair with a delighted smile on his face. "So you found her room. Did you find anything interesting inside?" Of course Vaughn would not trust his answer. He would have to look for himself. He went to the dresser and began rummaging through the small boxes which would contain some jewelry. And contain jewelry they did. "You seemed to have forgotten to look here Alistair. I am surprised you walked away without a single gold piece." How infatuated was Alistair with this woman? Enough to walk away from the treasures and wealth her room held? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.

What was he demanding? That was such a loaded question with so many different responses that Vaughn did not even know where to begin. He could ask for anything right now, and he would get it. Vaughn however was not someone who wanted too much. He wanted enough to get food, and enough to travel with. To have far too many gold and riches was useless to him as he did not plan to settle in one place. He had no home, and doubted he ever would. But this nomadic lifestyle was a choice. If he had wanted any other lifestyle, he would not have left his home, for there, he lived luxuriously, like a true noble.
"I want an answer," he said simply. He had an idea in his mind, but really just wanted to hear how much she would offer for it. He would not take more than he needed, or maybe he would just for the fun of it. "How much wealth could you get away with distributing to protect your secret, and how much are you willing to distribute. I am curious." That was all it was; sheer curiosity. "Otherwise, it will not be wealth I would choose to steal from you, but perhaps your virtue." Vaughn in actuality, not really go as far to do that. He was not that corrupted that he would expect a more intimate expense to protecting his secret. It was the same reason he did not pay women in brothels and bars. Why waste money on such a thing when it was easily achievable for free, and without force.

"You never know how much time you may have." Her life could have ended tonight. He could have just slit her throat and be done with it. But then, he would not get anything from it. This way, he would be able to make some money and make sure he would not have to find ulterior ways to get it. Of course, part of the reason he was doing this, was because he could. Because he had the power to. And because he enjoyed having a hold over someone else.
Vaughn was both glad and disappointed that he would not have to argue about it. It only meant that she knew she would have to pay him in order for him to keep this secret. Did she actually trust him to? Well, she had very little choice in this moment. "How much do you think a secret like this is worth?" He wanted to know how much she thought she should pay him to keep her identity a secret.

Vaughn could not help but laugh at her answer. It was not something he had expected to hear. She sought the unexpected, and apparently ironic. "To die from a sickness would be a terrible shame for a woman like you. For one who craves adventure, you should have a more dramatic death than that." She was clearly outgoing, and obviously did things that no one would expect of her. To lie on her death bed, ill, would be a terrible shame. "Such a waste," he added for extra emphasis.
"Trust your instincts because in this case, they are correct." He was still smiling at her. "You say you want adventure, I will give it to you." Though perhaps blackmail was not the greatest adventure, Vaughn was fairly certain that their future encounters would be anything but ordinary. "It seems I have discovered a secret of yours. A great one that if anyone were to find out about, you and your family would pay the price." He knew she was not stupid. She seemed intelligent enough to know the consequences of what would happen if anyone found out she disguised herself as a knight. "And I intend to keep that secret." Only, there was more. "For the right price," he said, with a devilish smile and a sinister gleam in his eyes.

"And what to you would be an interesting death?" It was a bit of a morbid question to ask; what someone envisioned their death to be. Vaughn had no answer to the question. To him, no death was honorable. Death was death. Whether they suffered or not during the process, it did not matter. Death was the only guarantee in life. And that was why he did not fear it. It was what really defined who he was. Cold. Insensitive. Emotionless. Everything that made him a cruel person came from his reckless disregard for death, accepting it when it decided to meet him.
Vaughn chuckled yet again. "Then consider meeting me, your greatest adventure." If she had nothing to look forward to, then maybe he would just have to honor her with his company, repeatedly. He lowered the dagger, released his hand and took a step back from her. He casually placed the dagger back in the holder strapped to his side. "I am not going to kill you. I need you alive." He had a plan, and now, he just had to put it in motion.

Vaughn grinned. "Now that makes more sense," he said, also sarcastic, but you never know. Someone out there could be as messed up as that and find posing as a knight, the only way to end their miserable life. "Besides, it would grant you what all knights desire: the most honorable death." To die in battle was a great honor. To die serving a king. To have your loyalty attached to someone. The concept was as ridiculous now as it was when he used to be like that. He much preferred this life of solitude. He served no one. He served nothing.
Vaughn pretended like he needed to think about the question. "Would it not be worth a try for you to do so? Desperate people do desperate things. And right now, this situation is out of your control." At least so far it was, while he still did not plan on killing her, he still wanted it to sound like the thought was in his mind. Who knows. He could always change his mind.

"Not necessarily." Vaughn had nothing to live for, but he was not suicidal. He did not fear death, but there was no need to rush it. It was what made him so reckless, and care very little about the consequences of his actions. "You are rather defensive. If you argue this much with your family then it is no wonder they do not try to stop you from riding off." One of the many reasons he could not stand being around his own family. Arguments, fights, quarrels. He had often just remained silent for the duration of the argument, which tended only to annoy them even more. "A kind murder. Who would have thought there is such a thing." Another oxymoron. He would have only associated that with something like an assisted suicide. "Maybe you lack the strength and courage to kill yourself, so you ask for someone else to do it for you." Maybe that was what made her so reckless.
"I have nothing against you Alegra," he said when she suggested that she would do it just to spite him. He just liked seeing the diversity of people's reactions. "Yes," he said bluntly. Answering her question about standing there all day with what she described to be his 'shiny toy', his dagger, his weapon that threatened to end her life in one quick movement. "A knight does not quiver in fear." He knew at least that much. "Even a bizarre one such as yourself." He paused for a moment, not releasing his hold on the knife or her wrist. "You are indeed a woman who is far too passive for her own good."

Her title made Vaughn laugh. A seamstress? Really? She said that with so much pride. While he completely disregarded any class differences, not believing it to be significant at all, he still thought it was amusing that she seemed so proud, or at least not afraid to admit, that she was a seamstress. "I see," he said, with a sinister smile. "So you have no way of defending yourself. Other than poking me to death with a needle of yours." He was of course being sarcastic. While she was bold, she was also a helpless woman in Vaughn's eyes and that was his favorite target.
He began to close the distance between them, standing directly in front of her, looking to see if they had caught any attention from others through his peripheral vision. "Are you afraid Elora the Seamstress?" He asked, using her full title. He enjoyed seeing how different people reacted to the same situation: when in the face of danger.

Vaughn chuckled at Alistair's statement. "You do not need premonitions to know that." It was no secret that Vaughn enjoyed tormenting and irritating others. He took pride in it and found it fully entertaining. He looked to both the left and the right when Alistair suggested that each one go the one way. He did not care where he went, as long as it was somewhere that had something valuable to take. It was a good thing Vaughn had the torch because his designated side was a bit darker.
As he opened the door, doing it slowly so that he was prepared for anyone who might be inside, he shined the light, only to see an empty chamber. Hm. Disappointing. He stepped inside, surveying the room before walk around it, looking for somewhere of value. The sheets looked expensive, but not something worth stealing. There were small ornaments for decoration, but nothing that really caught Vaughn's eye. They had limited space and he was not going to waste it on useless things. He rummaged through the drawers and cupboards only to be disappointed by finding nothing inside. There wouldn't be anyone here as it was if the Princess and King were out of the kingdom.
Boring.
Vaughn just took a few of the useless ornaments, figuring they could get a little something for the silver on it, before exiting the room. The next room was an office. Completely empty of any human life form, and there was just papers neatly folded on the various tables. He rummaged through them, finding maps of the kingdom and some blueprints of the city. He took the piled and dumped them in the bag, rolling the maps and tucking them in his pocket. He had no idea what he was going to do with them, but you never know. Maybe if someone was ever at war with Gwent, these papers would be of value. He grabbed a few more piles, deciding to sort through them later. He adjusted the bag so that the cloth he had first grabbed was covering them. He did not want Alistair to make him leave them and so would show them when they were well away from here.

Vaughn did not move his position. He was contemplating actually wounding her, just to see her reaction. Saying things were on matter. Hypothetical situations were never real. And when they did happen, sometimes a whole other reaction resulted. Words were empty; actions did not lie. "You must really have nothing to live for, if you are so willing to die. Even asking for death." Vaughn had not even threatened to kill her, just hurt, and posed a question. She was here, asking for him to slit her throat. It was interesting indeed.
"If I did it quickly it would not be much of a show now would it," he said devilishly, still tempted by the thought of it, wanting to see more of a reaction, which was what was making him debate on whether to do it or not. "It would be quite rude of me not to grant a lady her wish though." He began to slowly press the blade closer to her throat.

"The world after all is a stage," he said in response to her statement. She had been obviously referring to what Vaughn had done moments ago, allowing the bandits to attack her, though they did not succeed. If they had, Vaughn would have only missed further entertainment from her. But he would have been on his way and not had a reason to stay and poke fun at this woman. Her invitation was not something he could so easily ignore. She made not be showing any signs of uneasiness in his attempt to intimidate her, but that did not discourage him.
His next actions happened extremely quickly. He moved behind her and while doing so, pulled out a small dagger from his side. He was directly behind her, his body practically touching hers while his arm was around her and the side of the dagger was against her neck. He was not pressing the dagger into her neck, but it was barley an inch apart. In addition to that, with his free hand he grabbed hold of her wrist, keeping it rested at her side but disallowing its movement. It was the hand he noticed her using when she was fighting the bandits, and so prevented her from reaching for her own weapon. These three movements could have been combined into one quick action for he had not wasted a moment. Even if she could not see his face, a sinister smile spread on his lips. He lowered his head so that he could speak directly in her ear. "Do you fear death?" He asked, always curious to people's reactions when met with such a life threatening situation.
[[Hahaha! If it helps at all, he is not actually going to hurt her. He is just having fun playing around with the idea of it, as I am sure you can tell from the post.]]

"Every one is average." Vaughn was not an advocate for equality, but he did not give the human race much credit. People were not worth it. "But as a noble, I am not surprised you consider yourself different than the average person." Even if she was a female knight, which was unusual but he himself would only define it as an strange sight. Vaughn chuckled yet again, taking a step back as if to inspect her. "Create as many exceptions as you will, the basis is still the same. Caring about what others think. Valuing the opinion of others. If people did not do this, the world would be a very different place."
He slightly raised an eyebrow still grinning at her defensive remarks to everything he said. As if she had some deep need to disprove him. It was not uncommon for people to do this, and it only made him laugh more. "It may be worse next time. Or maybe I could speed that process up for you and then see how little you care about what others think of you and how you manage to injure yourself in your spare time." Was he threatening her? Yes. He would not actually physically do something to her. He did not truly hurt someone unless he had a reason to, though he did not hesitate.

Vaughn continued to walk, and walk and walk....until finally, a staircase came into sight. Finally. He did not even care how far behind Alistair was. He just moved up the stairs at a moderate pace. Not too eager, and not in much of a rush in case guards came. Guards would make this adventure far more entertaining. Would Alistair kill them? Or was his strange affection for the princess too great? There would only be one way to find out and put those questions to the test. "Do your visions not show you anything useful?" He asked, slightly mocking, slightly serious.
Vaughn did not fully understand Alistair's visions. He did not ask much about it either though. He knew because they had spent enough time together for them to be impossible to ignore. It did intrigue Vaughn though. One of the reasons he knew using Alistair in these endeavors could be beneficial and give them one up on everyone else.

So she wasn't a noble? She did not seem to be lying. After all, what reason would she have to lie? He was merely a traveler, asking for her attention. And she did not look suspicious since she moved closer to him. At least he had other pieces of important information: her name, and her position in the castle. It was very close to that of Lady Morgana, someone Arthur knew to be the King's ward. Anyone would know such a thing had they been in Camelot long enough. "Well Gwen," he said, continuing to smile as best he could. "I was wondering if you would be so kind to help me." Vaughn did not want to move too much closer to her since he was not trying to be intimidating or creepy.
"My friend is injured and I need aid in moving him to a nearby physician. Could you assist me? I do not have time to find anyone else, and I really am in a bit of a hurry." He positioned himself to the side so it looked like he was in a rush, as he motioned to the woods. "He is not far," Vaughn added, trying not to scare her off.

"Yes you would. People are superficial dear Alegra. Unless you could wear your helmet every day and hide yourself from the public eye." Men and women were equally vain when it came to their looks, appearance and wealth. Vaughn perhaps would have been had he cared about anything, even himself. "You are fortunate to not have to worry about that, thus far. But you never know what could happen later if you continue to fight. Your small scratch today could have been worse." He paused, looking at it and now able to get a closer look since he was much closer to her than before. His voice lacked any empathy for the wound she received.
"Besides, how would the daughter of a noble, explain such battle wounds to others." Another curious element to her whole secret identity. Any noble family had the attention of other nobles as it was part of their duty to socialize them. One of the many things Vaughn hated about having been a noble. Though it was fun to provoke others when it came to those horridly boring events and feasts. So how would she explain each cut, each wound, without sounding like a clumsy woman when she should be displaying grace and elegance. Vaughn almost wished he could be there to see her explain it to others. It would be such a humorous story to hear.

Vaughn looked far too pleased when she moved closer to him. All the advances were not his own. Though that in itself, was something he was not used to. Most women he moved towards, felt uncomfortable by it, part of the reason he did it. But she never ceased to surprise him. He looked very carefully at her, searching for any sign of hesitancy or deep rooted fear. He saw none. And this just made him smile, as if it was impossible to wipe that expression from his face. He did not return the favor by giving his name. Not yet anyway. Vaughn had no issue with revealing his identity. He was not the person with something to hide. He moved his hand towards her, brushing a loose strand of her hair and tucking it behind her ear.
He leaned in, very close, as if he was about to kiss her, but instead, moved his head to the side a bit so that he was speaking in a low voice in her ear. "A beautiful name for an even more beautiful woman." Despite everything, he was not above continuing the flirtations. The setting did not have to be romantic, and the situation did not have to be ideal. He would keep doing so, even with corpses lying about them. He would test her level of comfort.

Vaughn scoffed, letting out a half snicker. He did not take well to commands or orders, so completely dismissed Alistair's. Of course, it helped that he had no reason to kill the princess, even if he had said things that suggested otherwise. Women we men's weaknesses, and it was truly pathetic and precisely why Vaughn never formed attachments with any women. He would have fun with them, but everything was non committal, and it was best that way. Alistair was a prime example of what happened when things changed. She was softening him up, and Vaughn was losing his accomplice.
"Well then it is a good thing she is not here to get in my way," he said, before turning and continuing to walk ahead. Tonight, they would not have to fight over how to deal with the princess of Gwent. She away from her castle, and that was part of the reason they were here. Well, it was part of the reason why Vaughn had chosen now to come. He still questioned Alistair's motives, but would let it go for now.

Vaughn didn't think he would go through all that effort. Or maybe he would if he was to carry out the bigger plan he was forming. "You are right. I could ask around. Question the other knights. Go to your estate, ask your family. That would not raise suspicion that complete stranger knows about your secret at all." He spoke his last statement with sarcasm. "I just thought you would save both of us the trouble, and perhaps your mother the anger, by telling me now what your name is. But if not, then so be it." He was not one to beg for answers, or plead. No. He had never pleaded for anything, nor would he ever. Nothing was worth that effort.
"I would not mind paying your estate a visit though," he said looking and sounding sinister when saying it. He would visit it, steal a few things, eliminate any opposition, and be on his way. Perhaps that would be a fun adventure. Maybe this was too easy and would deprive him of the potential enjoyment of going through the effort himself. While he still posed the question, there was no pressing urgency for the answer.
[[Where would she have seen him?]]
